I'm on PCoIP right now (instead of RDP) so it is VERY responsive. I like this. Full Flash acceleration and you can literally browse the web like on a real computer.
And I'm hosing this on my desktop(in sig) so I have a full 4GHz quad core at my disposal from ANYWHERE after setting up some simple port forwarding with dyndns.org

you need two windows server installations and one guest OS.
1 - domain controller (AD DC)
2 - vmware view connection server (join the domain) - vmware won't install unless you are on a domain...so that is the need for the domain controller
3 - any install of winxp, win7 on the same domain
entitle yourself and create a pool of devices you want to connect to, then connect to the connection server from android. vmware view is supposed to be an "anywhere, anytime" connection solution. so you can't choose what device in the pool you connect to. it will just choose an available one. This is meant for a multiuser environment. say you get one big server and create 60 clones of windows 7 in vmware vcenter. you can add them all to the pool so your 50 employees can work from their thin clients(or other devices)
i allocate 512mb ram for the domain controller, 768mb of ram for the vmware connection server and 1gb for each guest OS my tablet/dummy device will connect to.
Just a last note: to actually use PCoIP, you need a VMware View version 5 environment.

Am only doing this so I could get to know View 5
Any advantages using this over, let's say, something simpler like Splashtop?

it is a lot faster. try watching youtube from splashtop. you can on vmware.
this is aimed more towards enthusiasts. i assumed everyone would have view 5 already
Uhm, Splashtop can play flash (and other) videos pretty well.
I'm not sure if PCoIP will be better than say Citrix ICA.

install two windows server 2008 r2 installs on two vms.
then make domain controller(pick a domain)
http://www.elmajdal.net/Win2k8/Setting_Up_Your_First_Domain_Controller_With_Windows_Server_2008.aspx
then join the 2nd vm to that one. install vmware view on it. configure it how you want
http://www.vmware.com/pdf/view45_installation_guide.pdf
read the install guide.
install windows on a vm or pick a physical machine you want to be in your VM pool. then create the pool and run the vmware viewagent on all clients. join them to the pool. the vms have to be on the domain
entitle users to the view server.
that's it.

Sweet, this must have just came out, I was searching for it Wed. night. Have to wait till I get Home to update my HTPC to Beta6 before I can try it out.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Great app
I am less enthusiastic about it, I already sent them a mail. I downloaded the mac version from their website and installed the beta 6 android version on my phone.
Connection is fast but everytime I connect to my mac my wallpaper on my mac disappears. Instead of that, I will get a blue background. Also I have to set the quality settings again everytime I connect. As my mac has a -1900x1200 resolution it looks like sh#t on default start up.

I looked for it in the beginning of the week, and couldn't find it. Been using it a lot on my iPhone 4, hence why I really wanted/needed it on my Android device too.
Will give it a go over the weekend

Come on guys, it's Teamviewer... do you like the original app? It's just the same. You can't connect to an IP (it ain't VNC!), you can choose to keep the remote wallpaper or not (as it was correctly said before), you can even choose to stress on Quality or Speed, you have your usual TV login to manage your regsitered PCs... what else? I'm so happy with that, as VNC regularly killed any java program running on the remote pc upon connection. By my need, Android is now fully functional!

There is no Linux support, because there is no version 6 of TeamViewer for Linux
I posted in the 3d forum, but will re-post for all here:http://bluestacks.com/
BlueStacks' NEW Android App Player for PC. Run android apps on Windows PC.
BlueStacks just opened its Beta doors a few days ago.
If you own a Window’s anything (laptop or desktop), you MUST try out BlueStacks App Player.
It is not slow and jerky like phone emulators or like Amazon’s virtual playground for some apps in its appstore.
Of course, not every app will work with BlueStacks, but SO MANY of them do. It is worth playing with.
Your Phone Will Sync All The Favs!
Another great perk is that you can link your phone to the app player on your laptop or desktop with their Cloud Connect app.
This app installs on your Android phone and allows you to pick and choose which apps from your phone you want synced to your desktop.
You will have access to the Amazon AppStore and Get Jar and a few other appstores right out of the gate.

The ARM emulation can be a bit slow, not optimal for running games. It will virtualize anything it can in x86, but most games are ARM only.
Bluestacks does plan on making a version for Windows 8 ARM tablets and since ARM can then be virtualized instead of being emulated it should have no performance issues.
wow this is interesting...! thanks for this
This seems nice, will try it asap.
i'll try this, thanks a loooot!
Having tried the BlueStacks emulator recently, I can attest that it's very easy to set up and get playing your favorite Android games right on your desktop. However, it's only available for Windows currently and you have to install the Cloud Connect app on your phone to get it to sync with apps only found in the Android market.
If you want something that actually runs the full Android OS on any platform (through VirtualBox) and doesn't limit you to GetJar or Amazon's app stores, you should check out Android-x86. I made a video yesterday showing how to install the Android-x86 emulator in less than 5 minutes.
Granted, it's not quite as streamlined as BlueStacks, but it grants access to all the Android apps you would normally have on any 4.0 device and seems to run much more smoothly.

Very cool find OP. This thing certainly seems to be more than capable of most of our games: I just got a 4826 on Quadrant, and a 9633 on Antutu.
I don't know if this is the necessary way to do it, but I got ADW Launcher and Play Store installed by installing this, then going to system/apps and installing g1.apk. The default settings app is in there too.
And the settings app claims the model is "GT-N7000", or the Galaxy Note. Anybody know if this ROM is based on that, or if they are just trying to emulate the phone?
I'm trying for root now.
I would love to see a Linux client, but this looks cool.
how about emulate android app,, it can??

Hello everyone!
Yesterday I released my first Android App called Icy Monitor, it helps you monitor your PC using your android device.
Features
Get graphs about your CPU (load, temperature, clock, power), GPU (load, clock, temperature, fan) and system (fans, temperature, voltages).
Customize graph colors to your liking.
Get information about each filesystem and each process running.
Save and monitor multiple computers effortlessly.
Clean, beautiful interface with tablet support.
The app is free, without advertisments and open source!
Downloads
Play Store
Windows Server
Github (for source)
Setup
Download the server application using the link above. Extract all files somewhere and run the application as administrator (otherwise, I am not allowed to read most sensors). An icon should appear at your system tray, right click it and select 'Open Firewall', this will open port 26822 which is used by the app (This only works with Window's Firewall, if you are using something else you must open port 26822 yourself). Now you can connect from the phone app by typing in your computer's IP address followed by ":26822". If you want to access the server through the Internet you will have to setup port forwarding, which is a different procedure for every router so I cannot help you.
If you don't know your IP, open a command line window and write "ipconfig". You should find your IPv4 address there.
More info
For more info, please visit my page or just ask here. Feel free to mail me at any time.
Thanks a lot for trying my app! Any feedback (positive/negative) is extremely appreciated!

Theoritically, the server could run on Linux with Mono but being a former Linux user I know Mono is not the best option. I am brainstorming this, I hope to be able to support Linux soon.
Thanks for the interest however!
Harmless little bump.
I followed all the instructions then tried setting it up on my device. I was a little confused why it refused to use a domain name. Nonetheless I entered my IP address. Now I get the error "Incompatible server version". Am I doing something wrong?

There was no activity in this thread so I forgot to update the server download link. Try this version. Sorry for the trouble.
Also it SHOULD accept domain names, it worked with mine (looks like this: something.dyndns.info). Maybe it's a port forwarding issue?

Thing is, my phone's screen is currently broken so I am delaying this release until I can test it properly. Hopefully it will be ready next week.
Hi All,
We have just released a new Android virtual machine, called Leapdroid, it is a Windows program that allows you to run Android Apps in Windows. Our focus has been on graphics performance. It outperforms all other players on market, such as BlueStacks, Genymotions, Andyroid, etc... it supports a lot of games, and it it is totally free, you can download it from our website:
http://www.leapdroid.com
From development point of views, we have implemented most features that Google's emulator has, such as compatible adb. Our virtual machine is the only vm that can start adb before vm starts, same as a real device, so you can get the first line of adb logcat. We have also optimized other aspects of the system.
Check it out!

Here is a video with Leapdroid playing a few games, including a shooting game. This video demonstrates the advanced key mapping feature.
Booting Speed is really amazing
I tried using several android emulators such as B****, G*****. Tried this new one. Having not gone through intensive usage now, I am already shocked by its launching speed. Amazing! Really beats others. It is a fresh boot, not like B****'s not shutting down and faking instant boot.
I forgot to mention that our vm supports multiple instances. After installations, two android virtual machines will be created.
Has been looking around for a VM to play Minecraft. This is the only capable so far.
Thanks, Leapdroid!

One question: (You would rock some worlds with that)
Could you somehow release a version compiled for arm-thumb2 so windows-rt-JB users could finally open android apps on their first gen surface RT <3
Probably impossible, but I never give up the hope
Hi Blade,
Thanks for the nice suggestions. A thinner run-time version that can run on ARM systems is definitely our direction, but it will take quite sometime to implement. For the moment, we are focusing on developing a new generation of android virtual machine on X86 architecture. As you may have noted, current android virtual machines are still not that compatible if compared with a real android device, many apps still don't run well inside emulators. Leapdroid will lead in these aspects.
Good performance

Assuming you have your APK ready:
I've found the following information on their website h t t p : / / leapdroid . com / helpcenter . html. It seems that they reply on standard adb to install programs.
I typically use apkmirror to download APKs. What kind of channel do you use?
BTW: I do not understand XDA does not let me to post web links. Maybe for safety reason....
http://www.leapdroid.com/helpcenter.html has more info
Before we enable drag/drop (which should come soon), you will have to use adb to install apk.
Adb works for me. Great work!
When can we see a Mac version?
We are working on Mac and actually Linux version too, but currently focusing on Windows.
How do I unroot or install Xposed?
You can do adb remount, then you can change system partition
I'd love to try this, but I feel very suspicious.
There's no "about" page on the Leapdroid website, so we don't know who we are giving our Google Account credentials to when we login.

Is there any information about the S8 being about to run Win10 with Dax? I know its a long shot, but i'm DYING for this feature http://www.pcworld.com/article/3154...a-new-start-with-qualcomm-snapdragon-835.html.
Not sure about through Dax, but read somewhere about Microsoft storefronts eventually offering s8/s8+ running Windows 10. Only available in their stores; not online, and needed be installed and activated while one waits.
Maybe dual boot?
I stand corrected. It will be called the Microsoft Edition, but will only be loaded with Windows apps not W10
gotta wait. I am hoping that with root we will be able to boot up windows or even linux through the Dex platform.

What it looked like to me is that your actually opening up a remote desktop version of windows through Dex, atleast thats the way it sounded like with the wording. At first I thought it was a virtual PC in there which could theoretically be possible. So im not sure if we are packing a full OS in there or not, but it would be pretty bad ass to have a app to open up and boom you got what ever version of what ever OS you want running. I have a few uses for that already.
I am thinking personally if I have a KBM switch with a Dex station, I could theoretically remotely connect to my Linux server at home and manage my cloud and plex server through my phone. Then I could Also remotely access my work laptop and VPN with a Dex station in my van, and have a nice monitor mount with a keyboard and mouse there. Would be super sweet, or maybe I continue to access Linux through my desktop, but I can instead access Linux server remotely in case anything goes wrong while I am away.

Dex is its own thing. You can run android apps in tablet mode on it or dex specific apps. You can already loadup chroot (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.meefik.linuxdeploy&hl=en) with your distro of choice (arm) and ssh into your linux server. Of course if you want it just from remote administrator, you can just download an android SSH (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonelli.juicessh&hl=en) or VNC (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.realvnc.viewer.android&hl=en) (GUI) program and remote into your server. Alternatively, you can use webmin (http://www.webmin.com/) for a webbased SSH client hosted on your server, that way you can navigate to your webmin install with any web browser.

Dex is its own thing. You can run android apps in tablet mode on it or dex specific apps. You can already loadup chroot with your distro of choice (arm) and ssh into your linux server. Of course if you want it just from remote administrator, you can just download an android SSH or VNC (GUI) program and remote into your server. Alternatively, you can use webmin for a webbased SSH client hosted on your server, that way you can navigate to your webmin install with any web browser.

I am gonna have to look into it, I am awaiting the parts to come into build it, I was considering doing the VNC through my desktop, gotta build the server. I am a novice when it comes to Linux, played with it, but never really had a use for it untill now.
As far as I could see Dex seems to be literally just a dock that puts a fan on your phone and enables you to plug in a HDMI cable, a Lan cable, and 2 usb cables to it, while chargin your phone, so the only limitation we should have is if the app does not like to be blown up or used with a mouse and keyboard, + what ever samsung/android limitations are on it.
