Play Android Games on your Pc With BlueStacks Beta 1 - Android General

I posted in the 3d forum, but will re-post for all here:http://bluestacks.com/
BlueStacks' NEW Android App Player for PC. Run android apps on Windows PC.
BlueStacks just opened its Beta doors a few days ago.
If you own a Window’s anything (laptop or desktop), you MUST try out BlueStacks App Player.
It is not slow and jerky like phone emulators or like Amazon’s virtual playground for some apps in its appstore.
Of course, not every app will work with BlueStacks, but SO MANY of them do. It is worth playing with.
Your Phone Will Sync All The Favs!
Another great perk is that you can link your phone to the app player on your laptop or desktop with their Cloud Connect app.
This app installs on your Android phone and allows you to pick and choose which apps from your phone you want synced to your desktop.
You will have access to the Amazon AppStore and Get Jar and a few other appstores right out of the gate.

Nope, that is a draw back. Hopefully they will fix it when it goes live.

that would be awesome on windows 8 with a touch screen monitor, some hardware maker should bundle this with their touch laptop or windows 8 tablets as they will auto inherit 1000's of touch apps or an android vendor should integrate with their android pc suite like samsungs kies if it ever gets fixed
seriously

Wow looks amazing. Does it have a good framerate?

running full speed HD games on a mediocre windows 7 PC here

I like this, it makes it look like a tablet. Hopefully a future update is to make it look like ICS rather than Gingerbread.
A nice feature I found out accidentally was that if you have a webcam plugged into you computer then you can use the camera app to take pics with it.

Wow, sweet!

The ARM emulation can be a bit slow, not optimal for running games. It will virtualize anything it can in x86, but most games are ARM only.
Bluestacks does plan on making a version for Windows 8 ARM tablets and since ARM can then be virtualized instead of being emulated it should have no performance issues.

wow this is interesting...! thanks for this

This seems nice, will try it asap.

i'll try this, thanks a loooot!

Having tried the BlueStacks emulator recently, I can attest that it's very easy to set up and get playing your favorite Android games right on your desktop. However, it's only available for Windows currently and you have to install the Cloud Connect app on your phone to get it to sync with apps only found in the Android market.
If you want something that actually runs the full Android OS on any platform (through VirtualBox) and doesn't limit you to GetJar or Amazon's app stores, you should check out Android-x86. I made a video yesterday showing how to install the Android-x86 emulator in less than 5 minutes.
Granted, it's not quite as streamlined as BlueStacks, but it grants access to all the Android apps you would normally have on any 4.0 device and seems to run much more smoothly.
Written Android-x86 Installation Tutorial

Ever heard of mobilism ?

Thxx a lott

Very cool find OP. This thing certainly seems to be more than capable of most of our games: I just got a 4826 on Quadrant, and a 9633 on Antutu.
I don't know if this is the necessary way to do it, but I got ADW Launcher and Play Store installed by installing this, then going to system/apps and installing g1.apk. The default settings app is in there too.
And the settings app claims the model is "GT-N7000", or the Galaxy Note. Anybody know if this ROM is based on that, or if they are just trying to emulate the phone?
I'm trying for root now.

I would love to see a Linux client, but this looks cool.

how about emulate android app,, it can??

Superb Man. Good Work.

Love it! Installed yesterday, working fine, nice interface... TV on Android!
Sweet, this must have just came out, I was searching for it Wed. night. Have to wait till I get Home to update my HTPC to Beta6 before I can try it out.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Great app
I am less enthusiastic about it, I already sent them a mail. I downloaded the mac version from their website and installed the beta 6 android version on my phone.
Connection is fast but everytime I connect to my mac my wallpaper on my mac disappears. Instead of that, I will get a blue background. Also I have to set the quality settings again everytime I connect. As my mac has a -1900x1200 resolution it looks like sh#t on default start up.

Come on guys, it's Teamviewer... do you like the original app? It's just the same. You can't connect to an IP (it ain't VNC!), you can choose to keep the remote wallpaper or not (as it was correctly said before), you can even choose to stress on Quality or Speed, you have your usual TV login to manage your regsitered PCs... what else? I'm so happy with that, as VNC regularly killed any java program running on the remote pc upon connection. By my need, Android is now fully functional!

Here's what I used:
- Version 1.1.5 of the app, makes disk read/writes much faster!
- Windows 95 SDcard/usb version. (i'm not allowed to post the link to this - search google).
Just install the windows 95 to your sdcard, type win and wait a few seconds and then Windows 95 starts up and is fully usable! Don't forget to shutdown windows after you are done, otherwise you'll have possible disk corruption and scandisk will want to run at the next startup!

Sounds like your issue is that the game conversion Sd data is not right as you should see the menu and loading screens in game at least.
Some people have been able to load on Xperia play with lazy load setting enabled but overclock and optimized ram (less installed apps or maybe use of ram manager/ supercharger v6) mite help you achieve this.

A little late, but...
So I know this thread is a little old, but I have a question here.
Does anyone think it would be possible to run the standalone Terraria server command line application off of an android device?
I think this would be great if I could take a somewhat older and weaker droid x2 and turn it into a terraria server host, it would greatly reduce the strain on my pc.
If no one really has an answer to that then I may just continue crawling through piles of useless search results until I find something.
if you can run the full game you should be able to do that.
By the way... how does the game control on the play? I mean, can you control the mouse with touchpads? It's not optimized, so it shouldn't work. If it doesn't, maybe gamekeyboard does. Did anyone try it out?
Can I use this on my galaxy trend?

[GUIDE]WindowsAndroid For our Desktop/Laptop or Windows

Here's how to run Android apps on your Windows/Mac desktop/laptop computer..
Android is the most prolific and fastest growing platform on the market right now, and it’s been so for the last couple of years. With that growth came more than 700,000 applications on Google Play, a figure that is on par with what Apple has in its App Store.
With such a wealth of apps, you might be secretly wishing to have some of them available not just on your phone or tablet, but also on your Windows or Mac notebook/desktop computer. And now there is an easy way to do just that with an called BlueStacks.
The application is still in beta, but it does pretty well in its core functionality - allowing you to run Google Play and install apps from it on your computer.
There is both a Windows and Mac version of Bluestacks, and everything should be working just fine and easily. Give it a shot - it’s right below.

WindowsAndroid is a new PC program allowing you to run Android natively on your Windows 8, 7 or Vista PC. Some of you may remember BlueStacks - a program with a similar purpose, but not quite the same. While BlueStacks lets you run Android apps on your Windows PC, WindowsAndroid by Socketeq makes it possible to run Android itself, along with any apps you may want.
Right now, the WindowsAndroid program is not quite ready, and it seems it requires some geeky moves in order to get it working, but the developer promises that everything will be easily accessible for regular consumers once it's ready.
WindowsAndroid executes Android 4.0 using the Windows kernel, instead of the Linux one, which allows the mobile OS to perform smoothly since no emulation action is going on. The program should make it possible for every Android enthusiast to seamlessly run their favorite apps on their PC.
If you wish to give WindowsAndroid a try, you can download the program from the developer's website here
Note: If the link to the developer's website doesn't work for you, it's probably because of the "heavy load". It should be back up soon.
WindowsAndroid runs Android without emulation on Windows 8
WindowsAndroid runs Android without emulation on Windows 8
This week the folks at Socketeq have been pushing for a widespread testing of their software setup known as WindowsAndroid, running Android natively inside Windows OS. This system takes the Android mobile operating system and runs it on the Windows kernel – instead of Linux, that is, and therefor making everything move ultra-swift as it takes away the emulation layer that would otherwise be present. Sound like a fun project to you? Have at it right this minute!
This setup is currently working with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and requires a little more than base knowledge of how to work with Android outside of its standard smartphone housing. That means if you’ve never hacked your smartphone or tablet before, this might not be ready for prime-time for you at the moment. Once you’re in-the-know, on the other hand, you’ll be running apps and games of all kinds – including 3D games, so Socketeq promises – like a wild animal!
What’s extra fun about this whole situation is that it’s possible, depending on the setup you’ve got on your Windows machine, that you’ll be able to work with full touch controls as well as mouse and keyboard. Google added native support for both keyboards and mice (USB, Bluetooth, or otherwise) so you’ll almost certainly be working with those two ancient devices, but the future is wide open! It’s important to note here also that Android will still need your help running apps as this build comes with basically none – you’ll want to download Gapps (from one of the many sources we’re sure you’ve got a hold on right this minute) and flash them on your own once you’ve got WindowsAndroid running.
NOTE: WindowsAndroid currently runs on Windows 8 as well as Windows 7 and Windows Vista – good luck!
You can download WindowsAndroid from the Socketeq website by entering your email and basic info which they promise they’ll do no evil with therein. Be sure, again, to know what you’re doing before you download or start up any apps such as those spoken about above, and understand that SlashGear claims no responsibility for you destroying your systems for the fun of it. That said, have lots of fun!
Also be sure to check out BlueStacks, a system made to push Android apps to Windows and Mac computers that’s been in business for over a year – great stuff! Now the war will begin, users deciding whether they’d rather run natively or in an emulated environment. Which one will you choose?

Leapdroid - a brand new and most performing Android virtual machine

Hi All,
We have just released a new Android virtual machine, called Leapdroid, it is a Windows program that allows you to run Android Apps in Windows. Our focus has been on graphics performance. It outperforms all other players on market, such as BlueStacks, Genymotions, Andyroid, etc... it supports a lot of games, and it it is totally free, you can download it from our website:
http://www.leapdroid.com
From development point of views, we have implemented most features that Google's emulator has, such as compatible adb. Our virtual machine is the only vm that can start adb before vm starts, same as a real device, so you can get the first line of adb logcat. We have also optimized other aspects of the system.
Check it out!

Booting Speed is really amazing
I tried using several android emulators such as B****, G*****. Tried this new one. Having not gone through intensive usage now, I am already shocked by its launching speed. Amazing! Really beats others. It is a fresh boot, not like B****'s not shutting down and faking instant boot.
I forgot to mention that our vm supports multiple instances. After installations, two android virtual machines will be created.
Has been looking around for a VM to play Minecraft. This is the only capable so far.
Thanks, Leapdroid!
How I can switch input language?
"Control + Spacebar" not working for me.

One question: (You would rock some worlds with that)
Could you somehow release a version compiled for arm-thumb2 so windows-rt-JB users could finally open android apps on their first gen surface RT <3
Probably impossible, but I never give up the hope
Hi Blade,
Thanks for the nice suggestions. A thinner run-time version that can run on ARM systems is definitely our direction, but it will take quite sometime to implement. For the moment, we are focusing on developing a new generation of android virtual machine on X86 architecture. As you may have noted, current android virtual machines are still not that compatible if compared with a real android device, many apps still don't run well inside emulators. Leapdroid will lead in these aspects.
Good performance
Run very smoothly so far. Is there a way to install apps without using Google account?

Assuming you have your APK ready:
I've found the following information on their website h t t p : / / leapdroid . com / helpcenter . html. It seems that they reply on standard adb to install programs.
I typically use apkmirror to download APKs. What kind of channel do you use?
BTW: I do not understand XDA does not let me to post web links. Maybe for safety reason....
http://www.leapdroid.com/helpcenter.html has more info
Before we enable drag/drop (which should come soon), you will have to use adb to install apk.
Adb works for me. Great work!
When can we see a Mac version?
We are working on Mac and actually Linux version too, but currently focusing on Windows.
How do I unroot or install Xposed?
You can do adb remount, then you can change system partition
I'd love to try this, but I feel very suspicious.
There's no "about" page on the Leapdroid website, so we don't know who we are giving our Google Account credentials to when we login.
Three of the comments on this thread were written by new members who signed up just after this thread was started... that's a red flag for me.
If you look at my profile, you will see I am not new, you can also google my name, will find out.
Our website will have more info soon, we are a VC funded company, located in Fremont, California. I did Android vm a few years back, also released here, please check my old posts.
We have another thread, which is here, with more comments:

I appreciate the info. I'll keep an eye on this project and will reconsider installing it once more info is put up on the site.
It works really Well. Is there any thought of updating it to newer Android versions? Definitely the best Emulator I have used so far.
