Preview of the G1-Dream ROM

Ok guys, the ROM it's not much customized, there is inside just the HTC YouTube player, for the rest it seems a clean Android base system.

It's very difficult because the ROM it's de facto a linux system with his initrd, totally different from our actual HTC ROM.

there is an sdk for android.. jus google it and u will be sure to find it

did you take those screenshots?

If I buy the HTC Dream in Taiwan,
with a traditional chinese ROM,
do you think it will be easier to flash the ROM compared to windows mobile?
I usually wanted to buy a HTC Touch Pro in Taiwan,
but if flashing the ROM doesn't work right,
the phone is waistet money.
But Android is open, so it will be easy no?

i'm happy to see you are working on this i like this OS and want to have it running on my Polaris instead the R1 Syrius .

I remember time when I tried to put Linux mandrake on my laptop 5 years ago. It was disaster and a lot of headake during 5 month before I could get drivers for integrated ATI 3D chip and AMD cool n quite module. So I guess you need to bee big pro to make all neccessary drivers for each device to make android working , for example on Polaris

On your laptop, why don't you just get a LiveCD or LiveDVD? Runs the entire operating system off of a disc, no need to install anything. Just boot up, choose "boot from CD" and you're good to go. Linux = Godly

There were live CDs as long ago as 8 years. Knoppix was one of the first (and best).
Linux has come a long way since then. As long as you're not buying serial-number "1" of any piece of hardware, you should be ok nowadays.

hey is that a virtual keyboard that you designed for the android OS, or is that stock, cause the g1 isnt released with a virtual keyboard, and sure looks like one.... and it looks really nice...

that would be awesome on windows 8 with a touch screen monitor, some hardware maker should bundle this with their touch laptop or windows 8 tablets as they will auto inherit 1000's of touch apps or an android vendor should integrate with their android pc suite like samsungs kies if it ever gets fixed

I tried the program in windows 8 on a vhd partition and I couldn't get it to function at a usable speed, seems very slow like a 200mhz cpu or something..

running full speed HD games on a mediocre windows 7 PC here

I like this, it makes it look like a tablet. Hopefully a future update is to make it look like ICS rather than Gingerbread.
A nice feature I found out accidentally was that if you have a webcam plugged into you computer then you can use the camera app to take pics with it.

The ARM emulation can be a bit slow, not optimal for running games. It will virtualize anything it can in x86, but most games are ARM only.
Bluestacks does plan on making a version for Windows 8 ARM tablets and since ARM can then be virtualized instead of being emulated it should have no performance issues.

Having tried the BlueStacks emulator recently, I can attest that it's very easy to set up and get playing your favorite Android games right on your desktop. However, it's only available for Windows currently and you have to install the Cloud Connect app on your phone to get it to sync with apps only found in the Android market.
If you want something that actually runs the full Android OS on any platform (through VirtualBox) and doesn't limit you to GetJar or Amazon's app stores, you should check out Android-x86. I made a video yesterday showing how to install the Android-x86 emulator in less than 5 minutes.
Granted, it's not quite as streamlined as BlueStacks, but it grants access to all the Android apps you would normally have on any 4.0 device and seems to run much more smoothly.

Very cool find OP. This thing certainly seems to be more than capable of most of our games: I just got a 4826 on Quadrant, and a 9633 on Antutu.
I don't know if this is the necessary way to do it, but I got ADW Launcher and Play Store installed by installing this, then going to system/apps and installing g1.apk. The default settings app is in there too.
And the settings app claims the model is "GT-N7000", or the Galaxy Note. Anybody know if this ROM is based on that, or if they are just trying to emulate the phone?
I'm trying for root now.

I would love to see a Linux client, but this looks cool.

Its an app that allows you to run the original terraria pc game on android and is fully able to map to Xperia Play hardware buttons.
Sounds like he has given up perfecting it but is 90% ready. Here is what he has left us with.

This will only run on devices with > 512 MB of RAM (at least ~350 MB free after booting)

Grab this zip: Conversion
Install Perl for Windows (Strawberry)
Install Python for Windows (Python)
Install your android device’s driver and adb (Sdk)
Extract the contents of Prepare.zip
Copy “Content” directory and main executable into the folder you extracted in step one
Copy Players and Worlds from “My Saves” (your save game location) to the folder you extracted in step one
Double click or execute ConvertCopy.cmd
Run the app, make sure you select xnb for the image format. Also no need for the desktop app at this point or dropbox unless you want your saves and content to sync.

I was actually wondering about this and how would a smartphone user end up playing Terraria. Hitting those little blocks with with a pair of big thumbs seems rather hard.

Has anyone tried it out yet - I never played the pc version but heard+read many great things about it.

Tried to play it today although (I know I'm in the wrong forum) My Galaxy S3 keeps forcing the close on booting the app, so I have no idea if it works.

Sounds like your issue is that the game conversion Sd data is not right as you should see the menu and loading screens in game at least.
Some people have been able to load on Xperia play with lazy load setting enabled but overclock and optimized ram (less installed apps or maybe use of ram manager/ supercharger v6) mite help you achieve this.

Its not the problem of starting the game itself.. I am not able to start the Branches app.. it startsup and closes after 1second on my Samsung galaxy S3.

It's not the full game but only an android .net emulator to run it on. You will need the original terraria pc game (convert it with branches tool) to be able to play which is not provided.

A little late, but...
So I know this thread is a little old, but I have a question here.
Does anyone think it would be possible to run the standalone Terraria server command line application off of an android device?
I think this would be great if I could take a somewhat older and weaker droid x2 and turn it into a terraria server host, it would greatly reduce the strain on my pc.
If no one really has an answer to that then I may just continue crawling through piles of useless search results until I find something.

if you can run the full game you should be able to do that.
By the way... how does the game control on the play? I mean, can you control the mouse with touchpads? It's not optimized, so it shouldn't work. If it doesn't, maybe gamekeyboard does. Did anyone try it out?

OP has 6 posts, just one reply since yesterday (and only cause XDA just tweeted it), the big image is embedded from a piracy site that hosts cracked android apps... so, is this legit?

It might not make much of a difference with desktop PC's but, something limited in CPU performance Andy OS doesn't seem to run well, tested on my T100TA (x86 baytrail tablet) was choppy and laggy. DuOS runs extremely well on the same tablet, worth noting and trying if you have the same or similar device.

The online installer seems kinda limited for some people with slow internet connections like me.

To run android apps on PC I use Genymotion, it's smoother and customizable

I believe there is, check their Facebook page. It's still going to be the same size whether the installer downloads the required files or you download a large setup package.

After patching signature checks out of winload, and adding the halexts and registry entries for those, I had to patch 1 byte in the kernel, without which a SECURITY_SYSTEM bugcheck happens during boot.
I haven't fully added any drivers yet, other than the halexts, i'll be doing that soon. So right now touchscreen doesn't work etc.

different lumias use different driver sets.
I will probably try to get some drivers working in this WinPE then nothing more, this was a proof of concept. I have a DragonBoard 410c that I aim to use for WoA experimentation when i get a power supply for it, so...

Progress, if you could call it that. This is from when I was trying to find out what the drive mappings were so I could dump stuff out to Data partition. Turns out most of the drivers show up fine...but not touch for some strange reason!

I tried run RT on my Huawei W1 . It was in 07.10.2014

I'm curious (and a bit of a noob, I haven't touched custom WinPhone ROMs since the 6.5 days on a diamond 2) but do you guys think it'd be possible to grab a working version of IE (metro and / or desktop version) from a win RT tablet, and inject it into a WinPhone custom ROM like we did with cab files in 6.5? Or even go a step further and get full desktop versions of File Explorer, Task Manager, hell even Office running on a phone device using this tool? This would kinda be huge for me, at least until phones start shipping with a x86 CPU that we can do this stuff more easily.

I'm not expert on Windows RT/Mobile/Phone, but I'd say that there is too much missing in Windows Phone to be able to do that. It doesn't have Win32 AFAIK.
Of course, prove me wrong please.
