Ok so today the worst possible thing happened.
i've owned my Sensation since my HD2 (3rd one) finally had a permanent touchscreen failure in August.
Today while on a call the phone started making a hissing noise, then a pop followed by the usual electrical fire smell. It's now dead.
I'm still under warranty which is good, I'm sure I'll get a refurb through T-Mobile which is bad.
I've seen all the normal issues like dust under the screen, creaking frames, non-responsive LCDs but has anyone had this issue before?
I've seen this before on old phones, something internally shorts and it pops a chip which is for sure a manufacturer defect (I only use OEM accessories and it was not charging when it happened).
I'm disappointed and my feelings are hurt. The last 4 HTC phones I've owned all had differing failures but failures none the less.
<poop sandwhich> :-(
You must be very unlucky. I had 1 HD2 and IT still works great with MIUI inside.

LOL yeah, no, i dont believe in luck or things of that nature.
If youve seen the forums then you know you are the exception not the rule.
We trained and staffed service centers for bth old cingular and current sprint. Fact is from my own eyewitness at the carrier level HTC has one of the highest failure rates in general.
Check this out (shout out to how dysfunctional HTC repair is). Note all units were within the original 1yr warranty timeframe.
1. First HD2 , failed digitizer
HTC repairs but wont return until i pay $78 for non-existent physical issues when sent in.
After escalation to US AG and BBB for warranty extortion HTC repaired all issues free of charge
HD2 retruned repaired but now with boot problem, boots only %30 then boot loops.
Sold that unit.
2. Second HD2, failed digitizer
This time went straight through newly found HTC legal contact who escalated my issues.
HTC repairs and sends back again a malfunctioning unit.
Digitizer works for 1 day and then stops responding.
Frustrated beyond belief, sold that one.
3. Bought a brand new in the box HD2 from some random leftover tmous stock.
Worked great for 3 months then developed bad nand memory.
At this point knowing the run around ill get i dont even bother with HTC service.
Upgraded to sensation.

So, this is not a cry for help, bu a rant... Fair enough.
On a positive side, it's nice to see a phone to die in a unique way Good luck with your next choice.
Did you take out the battery and inspect for damage or burn marks?
Overall it defiantly sounds like a lemon. There bound to be a few, especially considering that you had all the possibles hardware issues discussed here on the forum.
My only issue so far is the touch screen grounding.

Correct, not a cry for help, although I thought that was fairly evident. I already know the phone isn't fixable from seeing issues like this previously.
More of a 1/2 rant in relation to my HD2s, 1/2 Query if others had seen the issue before on sensation?
In the old days we notoriously saw this with certain Nokia models where a chip or circuit literally burns inside the phone.
First thing I did was tear the phone open and remove the battery, battery looks fine, phone itself looks brand new still. clearly I can't tear the phone down fully to inspect as it would void any chance of replacement under warranty.
Again it was in use, not-charging. The syptoms were:
1. Hissing noise coming from inside the phone, not through earpiece
2. Loud Pop/ Display got real bright during
3. Electrical fire smell eminating from the internals of the phone.
4. Phone is dead.

Most likely heatsink like thingy came of when bumped, or just faulty component had it. New mobo it is.
I had mobo replaced on Desire, notorious reboot problem, been fine since.

Ok so after the usual TMoUS "warranty exchange is not on your acct" my original rep was able to verify theyhad the wrong SOC in my BAN and then resolved it so now ive got a new-to-me refurb on the way. After 2 6700s, 1 ppc6800, 3 HD2s I am game for another sensation.
In a perfect world I'd prefer a new batch production model, but a refurb is still ok.
Some people argue that a refurb is better because all potential issues have been dealt with but in reality the latest production batch is always preferred since refurbs can easily suffer memory block failures sooner than new units. A proper warranty engineering system allows for production process to change to resolve failure issues so that current production doesnt suffer from previous production defects. But since ive no way to guarantee the most current production batch a thoroughly tested refurb is ok.
The real key difference is HTC will repair the same unit you submit which means you could still be harboring latent unseen defects. TMoUS is an advance exchange so I for sure get a new-to-me unit.
When i handled these programs we actually did a seed stock program so we could repair handsets on the spot and swap handsets for clients in the same manner, on the spot no wait.
And yes, ALL carrier exchange programs utilize refurbished products from independant companies, they are not refurb'd by HTC.
SIDE NOTE: *As i eluded to ive many years working for carriers. Frankly these TMoUS reps at our local core store are truly top notch. Ive had several situations outside the norm and each time they have gone above and beyond.
We had a brief moment of fun when he thought he could get the sensation to power up by plugging it in. I used the moment to yell "hit the ground, she's gonna explode!" which had everyone looking around like WTF!
I LOL'd.
New sensation arrives tomorrow.

In hindisght it was a risk.
They dont like bomb ir counterfit currency jokes here. Years ago in retail i had a US Secret Service Agent publicly scold me for making a joke about "How would you like to pay, if cash freshly printed, wet preferrably".

I think you should really re-think the "luck" thing...the chance of someone getting all those defective phones is probably statistically very low.
On other note...people who have problems with their phones will post their problems on the forum. While people with no problem with their phones will be less likely to post that they have no problem with their phones...so the forum is really a biased measuring metric.
Anyway, I am running InsertCoin 3.4.3 with Bricked 1.6b1...smooth as my baby girl's butt.

LOL maybe ill consider luck.....naw.
I tell from my own firsthand experience in the service centers that this entirely normal.
The refurb handset they sent me was really bad condition cosmetically. That is a great surface indicator of potential problems and sure enough the unit is DOA.
Normally i run NRGZ sense 3.5 without issue. Roms are fine, this is a hardware issue.
And yeah we only really hear when there are issues, you are for sure correct about that LOL.
OK really need to say nice things about my local reps.
The store manager felt horrible for what had happened and was able to swap me for a brand new in the box unit. I pointed out that I paid full price $549 for the phone 90 days ago and he felt the same way.
Truth is, each time I've dealt with these people they have been so very helpful overall and this time went above and beyond because I know it's frowned upon to do what he did, but he put customer service first. That means everything to me.
Thank you TMoUS.

I had the phone for two days and got the phone permrooted and simunlock, I was so pleased with the phone until I see the paint on the metal frame is started to peel off. I have to admit I never had good luck with HTC phones. I've been using htc phones since HTC Magician, from WM5 to Android 2.2, none of them worked right out of the box for me. Previous HTC phones I owned either LCD had lots of stuck pixels, scratches on phone, phone won't boot, or dusts under screen. This time, the paint peels out on the mytouch's metal frame. I guess I will send it back for a warranty replacement... maybe in a month or two. I wonder if HTC is just not good at quality or its me having bad luck with their phones. I'm not angry or pissed at all, I guess I got used to this happening on me with HTC phones now.
If it has an obvious manufactor defect then why not revert to stock and take it back, all states have buyers remorse time. It just sounds dumb to hold on to defective device
Yea I know... but I got the phone from a good friend of mine who works at T-Mobile authorized dealer. He knows all about the history between me and HTC phones and he warned me about it. I insist to get it anyway. So I just don't want to bug him to return another HTC phone for me this time.

I have ran HTC done the wing and I ran it over with my Durango. Nothing happened to it. And my mt4g went swimming flash on in the toilet. So don't try to convince me they lack quality.

you don't have to return it to t-mobile. you can go to any t-mobile corporate store and they will exchange it for a new one, right out of inventory. you don't even need your receipt.
This may be a dead topic but I personally am ripping apart my phone and custom painted it. Going with some chameleon paint or pearl paint, stuff you use on cars and going to professionally spray it. Tired of black and it's peeled off on the back and bezel, looks ugly.
Why get a new phone when your current phone works fine, just change the rom out or port a rom from a phone that you really want, save up and then get the dream phone. But by then.. a better phone comes out
That's what started happening to my MyTouch4G. I got it from my cousin since he didn't use it anymore, and before you know it, the paint started chipping. I wanted my phone to look nice and not janky, so I just ordered a new body and had my friend it it all back for me and voila! It looks brand spanking new. You can either do what I did or paint over it, or go to t-mobile and they will replace it if you're still under warranty.
Returning your G2x for a replacement, because of the so called "bleeding screen display", "reboot","wifi" and/or "battery" problem is ridiculous. Let me tell you why.
First of all, the "screen bleeding" is common to the G2x, and seems to be a feature tied to it's screen brightness settings. You can do this by downloading the hidden camera app which gives you a blank/black screen display and when it does you'll notice the so called "screen bleed" on both of the upper corners, because the G2x has different levels of brightness and when it drops from the max setting to medium the screen bleed will disappear, and then from their the screen shuts off. I believe the screen was meant to bleed this way on highest brightness setting, and is not a flaw that many think.
Second, the reboot is a bug that can be fixed with a software update. Like any computer sometimes to many processes can lock up the CPU and you need to wait until it can recover itself, the reboot is a feature that happens when the system can't recover the normal way, so this is just a bug that needs to be updated.
Third, I also thought I had the wifi problem since I couldn't connect at home, I downloaded wifi analyzer, and then I realized that I was entering a wrong password. After having entered the right password I now don't have this problem. Maybe ppl who are might try going back and checking to see if they entered the right password to access their wifi.
The battery problem is real, but I believe it can be remedied by doing a few tweaks to the activity of searching for data signals and turning off the radio when it's not needed. The first day I couldn't 8 hours out of the G2x, even just leaving my phone idle without touching it. The battery draining on standby is do to it searching for the data signals, so I remedied this by installing auto airplane mode which turns of data when the screen shuts off and turns it back on when you turn on the screen again. This worked wonders for me, since before when I went to work my phone would be at 30% after an 8 hour shift without me even having used the phone, but with auto airplane mode enabled, after an 8 hour shift I now have 70% battery still left even when I use the phone heavily on my breaks. I'm pretty sure we can get more hours of usage from the phone by tweaking the programs on it.
Ok finally and this is the biggest reason not to keep returning the phone for a new replacement. My last phone from Tmobile was the HTC Shadow which I just upgraded to this G2x, the battery was crap, just like this one, it did have a wifi problem but there was really no lcd problems until later. Let me explain why. You see back then (4 years ago) Tmobile did not charge for shipping out a new replacement, but many of us Shadow owners abused the system, by always asking for a replacement phone within our 1 year warranty. I myself am guilty of trading my shadow in for more than 11 replacements within the year, even though it was in good shape and had no problems. I just wanted a "mint" condition one, but as the year went on and I got the 7th, 8th, 9th etc replacement, the quality of the Shadow was downgraded. The newer batch of Shadows had a noticeable downgrade in the lcd and build, and for the very first time, Tmobile actually said they'd have to charge a $10 shipping fee. I don't doubt that this new policy was because we Shadow owners we're abusing the system and sending in our functional handset for a replacement, just to have a mint condition one. I used to go to a Shadow forum where all the members were returning there's many times for a replacement just like how this forum community seems to be doing.
Now if we understand this history, then looking at how many G2x owners already sent their functional, albeit "buggy" G2x handsets in for a new replacement, I guarantee you that the next couple batches of G2x will be of lower quality and Tmobile might even up the cost for an exchange or add additional fees by changing their return policy because of the perceived abuse. Make no mistake, Tmobile and LG are losing a ton of money for each new G2x being returned for another one, when the "problems" are minor or actually probably a feature (screen bleed) or bug (reboot, wifi).
I'm putting this out there, because I find that this is a solid high powered phone that just needs to work out the bugs with updates to the software, but if we keep making Tmobile or LG lose money on this model, then they'll cease production on the phone and just refurbish those handsets that were sent in for a replacement, maybe with lower quality parts, and use those to replace our G2x in the future, when they really DO need to be replaced within the coming year.
How about making bullet points, and keeping these massive paragraphs short.
So, you're a T-Mobile employee that has been sitting on this account for 4 years?
ETA: Most of the issues you've outlined are in fact just growing pains/glitches that will eventually be corrected. However, the light bleed issue is one of very poor quality control or defective manufacturing techniques. It does not only happen on high brightness, and it is unacceptable for a high end device from a name brand maker. LG seems to be having some serious issues with their IPS panels, not just in the G2x but also on the panels the make for some of the iPads. We have not heard the last of this problem, and I suspect it will cost LG a bundle in the end, both in terms of money and reputation.
@bighulk666 After typing this out, I was not about to spend another hour editing it. As long as I've articulated my thougts, it's good enough.
@spyvie This is my second G2x, since I made a mistake with the first one. I bought the first one at the Tmobile store which was an upgrade and came out to $286, I then found out I could have gotten it for $125 at another subcontracted cell phone dealer, and that's why I returned the first one. But the first one had the same light bleed, in the same 2 upper corners as the one I have now. Also most if not all G2x owners are reporting this so called screen bleed so I'm sure it was probably manufactured this way on purpose, but if it is a flaw, it's very minor. It's like returning a brand new car you just bought because you notice a 1 inch scratch on the paint job.
LG and T-Mobile both have acknowledged that this is a mfg defect. I have two emails from LG confirming this.
Adjusting the brightness to maximum only enhances the "problem". I doubt LG meant for it to be a "feature".

No, it's like returning a brand new car you just bought because there is a one inch crack in 2 or 3 corners of the windshield. Under certain conditions the cracks genuinely impede your view of the road, and replacing the windshield is impossible or would cost more than the car is worth.

Okay maybe G2x has some minor problems, the whole point I'm trying to make with the thread is that the more people who keep returning a fairly brand new out of the box G2x just hoping they'll recieve a "perfect" one, is gonna make Tmobile and LG lose alot of money on this phone that has a lot of potential, and that will force them to cut their losses and drop this phone all together without even giving it a chance.
I'm telling what I witnessed with this same situation happening with the Tmobile Shadow. Tmobile had a great return and exchange policy until the Shadow community abused it, since then they changed it and now it costs shipping and your noted on their system for each time you do a return or exchange marking you as a "problem" customer, that they'll now give you the "run arounds" and make it more difficult for you to get an exchange or return. And as for the phone, because of all the complaints and returns, they'll just cease production on it and just use the rest of the stock for exchanges, when that runs out quick, they'll give you low quality refurbished ones. It's just gonna be a lose situation for all the G2x owners who want to make this phone succeed.

I think this should've been your OP, shorter and straight to the point. I agree with you on the refurb replacement if T-Mobile runs out of stock, because LG actually told me to go read the G2x manual as it specifically states that if they can't repair a defect (that is totally their fault mind you) then they can only exchange it for a refurb and not a brand new phone.
Personally after my experience with LG's customer service department I will probably not buy another LG product that carries a premium price tag.
This thread reeks of desperation. Describing the threat of a possible doomsday scenario where T-Mobile completely drops support for the phone unless customers are loyal and compliant only increases the chance I will return my G2x.
The battery issue is just that an issue. My first g2x got at most 8hrs of standby and a little use. But my 2nd and 3rd are pushing 16hrs with moderate use, everything left on and screen at 100%.
The point is for $500 I shouldn't be forced to turn things off to get at least a half day of battery on it.
As for your idea of just accepting how else is LG and T-Mobile going to acknowledge this phone has issues and their paying customers won't stand for it.

I told you this would happen with all the unneccessary returns and exchanges because yall choose to dwell on a tiny imperfection such as the "screen" bleed which is a commonality on LCD screens, even high end computers have it, and now we see the G2x already being given away for free, a sign that Tmobile is just trying to cut their losses and make a buck with contracts on this model. I won't post the links of where you can find it dirt cheap and even free, but I'm pretty sure many on this forum already know, and I can guarantee that it was because of all the exchanges and returns. But what really get's under my skin is the change in policy for restocking fees. Again it can't be a coincidence that it recently changed especially with all the G2x returns/exchanges being posted all over the net. Here's news on the new return/restock policy :/

First of all many people return the device BC you walk into a store and many of the reps have no info but .. lets do a factory reset... and when that wont work they just tell u to exchange it ... that's what happen to me.
Second if Tmobile is marking ur account for other future reps to just give u run around just BC u complaint that ur phone that u paid 500 Buck for or secured them a 99.99 monthly bill for the next 2 year that's illegal as its fishing.... sorry if I expect to get what I pay for...
I have bought mytouch 4g,vibrant,HD 7, g2, touch pro 2 all full retail price and NEVER had a bleed.
Reboot ANYTHING I've had Tmobile for over 7 years an never file a complaint or problem till now so its a problem
MOST IMPORTANT IF LCD BLEED WAS SO COMON THEN Y IS THIS THE ONLY PHONE WITH A TON OF THREAD JUST ABOUT LCD BLEED... U DONT SEE A MYTOUCH,VIBRANT,SGS4G, IPHONE4 .... THEREADS WITH LCD BLEED

Vibrant doesn't use an LCD. Moot point.
Couldn't resist haha
I don't understand the loyalty some people are having to a hunk of plastic. It's a prime example cognitive dissonance over a $500 purchase. It's a flawed phone, regardless of whether it's hardware or software flaws.
Since I left it for another phone, I haven't had to make a single excuse for my new phone. That's what $500 should buy you, the happiness of not having to give excuses as to why your phone does this or that or why you have to turn this off for that to work, etc.
imo, if the unit has issues, which it does LG should just man up and fix it, those that got early failed unit, should get replacements
I paid full retail for mine, and tried to get a replacement, and they acted like they had never heard of any of the issues.
Tmobile is a good company customer service wise, but the early batches were just not up to par for $500 electronics
and that new $50 restocking fee for smartphones is also not very cool also
I wish I had the luck like some of the people here who were able to trade in two and three phones till they got a good one

I got a replacement when the "factory reset" would not solve the problem (problem with stock camera and EB leaked GB generic camera - dark photos without constantly upping the white balance and very dark screen on barcode scanner and other similar apps).
However, I am now going to return the new unit, as I got the original going OK, and reinstalling some apps like purchased GPS program is a hassle,, and the original unit is only 1 month old. The issues with other scanner apps may be an issues with the unit (same on replacement), but they all work OK on EB 1.0.4 so going to stay with it.
Wish I could ship off to someone who really needs it, but am running up against their 7 day return policy (tomorrow it has to be shipped). It also came with a prepaid UPS sticker for the return.

This is actually a known issue involving the brightness level. If set wrong, it causes apps that use the camera to look dark.
http://www.lgforum.com/forum/boards/carriers/t-mobile/topics/g2x-screen-separating-from-body
This is a very serious issue with the LCD panel to these phones, guys please check your G2X at an angle and see if theres anything like that on your phone; if there is, take pictures and contribue to that forum. Things like this shouldn't go unnoticed, this is obviously a defect.
I already made my post, help others out with these phones too. Obviously the Backlight bleeding isn't the only issue here.
I do notice this issue on my phone when viewed at an angle. You can follow the line to see how long it is too.
Damn. This really sucks. Tmo actually sent me a refurbished unit for a replacement? See attached pics. WTF. I called and got transferred to the loyalty department and they apologized and sent me out a new phone that is arriving this Thursday.
However, this definately is a separate issue from the screen bleed and I guess the only good thing is she told me I had 20 days from this Thursday to return it for a full refund.
That is terrible! I have seen this issue personally on my 2nd and 3rd replacements and showed it to store manager. The store manager showed me his G2x which also had it and he said its normal. Well its not normal even if two or more G2x have it.
It almost looks like they used free glue from post office to glue the glass to touchscreen. Its very cheap looking construction for a phone in this class.
Another issue I have seen is you can see white line of LCD lights even when screen is off, it almost looks like white teeth of a comb coming out from the top edge. I haven't seen this on any other phones before so its not normal.
Haven't I seen one of these threads before?
Don't like it? Exchange your phone. Or return it. Or mail it to me. Hey, at least your stress level will go down.

Fair enough.
What I don't like about these posts is you're going to make people look for defects they may never ever notice for the lifetime of the device and exchange it for no freaking reason, raising everyone's costs.
I wonder if T-Mobile would have even considered selling if they weren't spending stupid amounts of money exchanging perfectly good phones.

Agreed ! Most people won't notice it, but LG is responsible here for no QA. Its upto the people to decide whether a tiny white line on screen bugs them enough for an exchange.
I am against the acquisition as well. LG should bear the cost not Tmobile since its LG's fault.

I'm glad we can agree on something! haha... I agree, it really is poor manufacturing/QA.
yes, haha... very few times on these forums a discussion ends this way, usually it ends up in a thread closure...
Hi
I noticed that as well but I really love this phone and I'm sick and tired of always finding new things wrong with it so screw it. When you buy the first batch of a new product thats what u get maybe youll feel better knowong that those who will buy the phone in a few months from now will not be having these issues. This phone is great, has its problems but great. U dont like it send it back and wait for the sensation

New Topic isn't a suggestion, and the search button exists for a reason.
We -KNOW- there are some phones with issues and Light leakage, many Backlight phones have these problems, EVO 4G springs to mind when thinking about it. Most people just don't care enough about it.
I went to the store to exchange due to this issue but the rep outright refused to do the exchange because he said they were designed that way and he said I was nitpicking and wouldn't honor my 30 day exchange period. He obviously has no knowledge or even the faintest clue on lcd's and I instantly called customer care and reported the incident. I'm now expecting a replacement in the mail next week and will keep calling for replacements until I get a unit without defects. (Already exchanged once at the same store but different rep).

You guys really know how to jump on the god damn wagon for sure, so if people can't complain about manufacturing defects or let people KNOW about the issue (the LCD LEAKING issue, not the backlight bleeding) how the hell are we suppose to let manufacturers know that they can't charge a crapton of money for something literally built like it was a joke?
Also, no where did I say that you should go complain to T-Mobile, I already sent my email to LG, NOT T-Mobile. Keep trolling kids, I'm pretty sure if you had some defect you hated with your phone and made a thread about it; you wouldn't be hating like you are now.

Look. I'm not saying YOU are complaining at T-Mobile but I bet a good number of people who read this post will ignore your message and blindly exchange their phone 6 times in a row. Why not start a petition addressed to LG? Might be pretty effective.
maybe i should get insurance to make an exchange easier. haha

Hi all! New poster here, old reader
I've just gone thru my second Sensation now (in 3 days), had 2 DOA's in a row. The first had the blue light "leakage" down at the home button and the headphone jack was defect. The other one had a battery cover that did'nt quite fit, the screen would creek and move some when you pressed it, the volume rocker was loose and it had touch issues.
I'm VERY dissapointed with the original Sensation and I've never used a DOA before this phone my entire life and now 2 in a row.
Now I got a gift card with the money instead, since I don't dare to pick up my third Sensation from the same store (the first 2 had the same manfacturing date on the battery cover) so now I'm not sure what to do?
Are there any "perfect" Sensations out there? Did HTC do a sloppy job on these phones (always had HTC smartphones before, and no major issues). This can't just be bad luck or can it?
Cheers!
Bad luck.
I've had mine since June or so and I haven't had any problems with it. No real Wifi death grip, no loose back cover, nothing.
Get one from a different store.
All manufacturers are having quality issues, or at least we're hearing about them more.
The more "trouble" consumers cause shops by returning faulty phones the more pressure will be put on the factories to improve.
Persevere, the Sensation is a top of the range phone
I bought mine since June and it doesn't have any problems too. All working great. I suppose its just bad luck for you.
Thank for the replies so far!
Ok, seems (so far) that I've had bad luck. I REALLY hope thats the issue, cause I REALLY love the phone, the design, the hardware etc. But I just can not pay all that money for a premium phone that ain't.... well premium
I took the gift card for the sole reason to try and buy the phone at another store, maybe it was a faulty batch or something, who knows. But two phones in a row, with the same production date (which I can't really remember right now june fifth China I believe, have to check when I get home) wich are both faulty has really made me think twice.
So the news you guys bring so far is really good news to me!
Hopefully, the next replacement you get is a perfect one! It's really an awesome phone and it's kinda sad to get missed out due to some defects. ):
Mine has a bit of play in the cover but that's just how it is so doesn't bother me.
Mines is good so far.... Maybe that store is selling fakes?

Nah, no fakes. It's one of our largest/most spread stores here in Sweden (deals with phones, computers, TV's etc etc).
The thing is. I'm really NO "sitting under the magnifying glas looking for dead pixels" kindof guy, so these phones really was faulty.
According to the replies of this thread though it really seems like bad luck. I will try to buy another one, in a diffrent store (well not by name but location atleast) and see if I get a normal working HTC premium sensation!
It just your luck...
What they are actually doing is giving you reconditioned or refurbished phones. These are cheaper for them and are usually ones that have had faults i.e firmware flash failures, broken screens etc.Demand a BRAND NEW DEVICE as they have to provide you with a new fully working phone when you get it.If you are in the UK we have trading standards that you could contact to start a complaint if they refuse you a new device

Ask to try out the replacement in the shop to give it a good going over to make sure there are no obvious faults
I've had mine since June as well. I get nothing but compliments on it and honestly, its the best phone I've ever had. I must agree with everyone else when I say buy another one. I'm sure like everyone else, you will be happy too.
revolutionary, CM7, launcher pro. faux123 1.67 kernel, sim unlocked sensation 4G
Well you guys convinced me! I will go get another one today actually! Thanks for all the replies, it's been really helpfull to me!
I'll keep you updated!
same thing happened to me, all replacements they sent me had dead pixels.
though, i used the replacement phones to get free accessories. lol
Just got my third Sesnsation (since thursday) a few hours ago. So far it's just perfect! Sweet! I has NONE of the flaws my 2 previous devices had.
Just to makr sure I got one from another batch this time I got a newer serial number, made in Taiwan instead of China. So far so good!
It pays of to be a whiny ol' customer sometimes

Absolutely, the more legitimate trouble customers cause by returning faulty goods, the more the stores will put pressure on the manufacturers to improve their quality

Mine has a dead pixel but im reluctant to get anbother in case it has more problems, like my mate having 1 million (exagerated) Desires that were faulty.1 pixel i can deal with and i think ill wait till i get a few more scratches on this beauty before i demand a new one
I'm also on my second phone. The first one was just bad all round, and nothing seemed to work properly. The second has terrible call quality and keeps dropping calls. the wifi also keeps dropping out. one minute I have four bars and the next I have nothing. it's like the "death grip" problem but still does it even if i'm not touching the phone. Also have the back cover problem and the screen freezing problem. I love the phone but it's the phone part thats always faulty, it is by far the worst reception I have had on a phone. Oh and just checked mine and it was made in Taiwan.

Time to start asking O2 for compensation along with a replacement phone, they're normally good at giving credits to customer's accounts. I got £15 once just by making the woman in the call centre laugh
Hi all,
I am relatively new to these forums, and currently own a desire hd, but i have been offered an upgrade to the Sensation.
Now i may bite there hands off at this chance BUT they are after a £100 security deposit, ( Orange uk btw ) so i cant order untill thursday morning.
What are the pro's and cons's if any about this phone?
Thanks.
***Gawsh i cant spell im that excited lmao!!, Thread title wording is wrong it should be Getting, Not Geeting Rofl****
Now we have S-OFF and the like it's definitely worth getting - OK you'll have all the Orange crap pre-installed but that's easily remedied. Just download the RUU for warranty purposes and off you go!

Hmm ok, Need to find a buyer for my htc desire hd now. ;0)
came from the inspire (desire hd). I wouldnt' have switched, if i didn't make a good deal trading the inspire for notphone, then selling that pos to get the sensation. It is a great phone, but not sure if i'd pay $150-200 extra to get it.
Well I came from a HTC HD2 and I have to say i am very pleased with my Sensation. The speed that the device works with is great and i am still totally stock. The HTC Sense 3.0 does not cause problems with major lag like Sense has been know to do. The 4G speeds are awesome, well when I am in a 4G area at least. Matter of fact the speed I get with a 4G signal is better than my home WiFi speeds.
I do recommend you give the, "[LINK TO FIX][UPD 29AUG]Touchscreen Not Responsive" thread a good read, and the, "[FIX] Touchscreen issues (related to screen's grounding)" thread a good read. Both of these threads are on the known touch screen issue of the Sensation that users are having. I myself had the issue, and had it very bad to I must say. But thanks to both of the linked threads I was able to solve my issue and relieve the great frustration it brought me.
All in all though the Sensation has been a great device so far. My wife and I both have one, although she never has experienced the touch screen issue like me. We both enjoy or phones very much. Hope this gives you some insight.
I would personally say don't get one.. its got issues with over heating. the power button wears out rather quickly.. dust under the screen. Signal issues with the cellular and wifi ariels being in the back cover how you hold the device effects strength.
I would suggest going for what ever the upgrade the sensation with (hopefully they will learn by the mistakes)
I woke up to my first phone smelling burnt to never turn on again.. the heat from the cpu damaged one of the dual flex cables that run down from the pcb at the top of the handset to the pcb that holds the cpu and other components.
The replacement phones's power button wore out but didnt have the issue with loads of heat when using a custom undervolted kernel and with scalling enabled.
the replacment came back from repair and this time they didnt even change the power board PCB all they done was change the speaker on it so its on its way back to have the full PCB replaced (and probably with the exact same revision board that will eventually fail again)
I have never had so many issues with one sodding phone... s-off is the only thing that makes this phone any good.. IMHO
