I live on plains and i recently visited a hill station(nainital) and since returning a thick white mist has developed on the inside of my camera. All the pictures and videos taken come out fully hazy.So i was thinking to give to Samsung Service Center.
I am running XXKPM with CF Root so i just wanted yr opinion people that should i revert back to froyo before giving it to them so should i let it be so as it is a truly hardware related problem??
Use a hair dryer to heat the glass and remove the mist
Not too hot though
dint work now i guess ill have go to service center but should i go with a rooted XXKPM?
No, you should get back to the initial firmware I think

Get back to XXKPM and factory reset the firmware. Do not reset factory time though.

Hey guys i recently dropped my Xperia L and the whole screen shattered.
I was literally able to move the display from its base without much effort .
Other than the display everything seems fine to me
And the phone did turn on whenever i pressed the power button
What do you guys think i should do ?
How much will it cost me to get the thing repaired
And if i cannot repair it is the phone worth something .. Like maybe a media centre
Hey,
If broken screen and digitizer, changing those two will cost about $ 100. At least that would cost in my country Colombia.

i do not agree with you, you can't let something like that ruin your use...it's annoying i admit it...but after a while you won't notice it that much, i have mine for 5 months now...and i am annoyed but learned to live with it...
My Z5 got water damaged from fresh water pool. Everything was still working except that it didn't charge anymore.
I've tried a warranty claim but unfortunately, my phone has UB and it's rooted. The service center voided my warranty because the technician detected the unofficial firmware. When I pulled out my unit, it was already turned on. The tech noted corroded mobo from the results. I'm not sure if he opened up my phone but I was happy because everything was working again.
When I came home, I tried to insert my sim card which works with my spare phones. It says "No Service". I also can't see the sim number from the default "Myself" contact list in Phonebook. I tried manual and automatic search for network operators to no avail.
Do you guys think this is a hardware issue already? If yes, then I got a z5 phone which can't even handle the most basic purpose of one.

how this happened? this phone should be water resistant upto 1 meter for 30 minutes
Bro, is your Z5 a brand-new or a second-hand?

It wasn't even a meter and less than 30 minutes of dip. I even clean it with drinking water after every splash. I suspect that the chemical seal on backglass may have been loose over time as this unit have been with me for almost a year already.

Have u backup DRM key? If yes, you can simply restore it and relock your bootloader.

Warranty already expired :/. The price they're asking is too much. I'd rather buy a new phone than pay the warranty service contractor of Sony in our area.
I don't trust the water tightness of Sony phones anymore..

Philippines.
Although I reported a water damage (physical damage), they voided my last remaining warranty due to unofficial firmware (I have UB/root). It's not like I had the chance to revert to stock after the phone had been water damaged..
The network signal was still good before I handed my phone to the service center. I'm not sure if the moisture inside damaged the chip responsible for the signal or it was the technician's fault assuming he opened up my phone or whatever.
They should've done pressure test FIRST and dried up what's inside if ever it's the chemical glue that's faulty over time. But what they did was to check the firmware first! I heard pressure test wasn't done because of the unofficial firmware. That's just so stupid of Sony.
The service center contractor is Telecom Concepts Inc. or TCI-Sony Philippines. I’m very disappointed. I've been using their products since the good old Sony Ericsson days. Now, I'm thinking of switching to those with better and competent after-sales support. Maybe it's time to go the Apple way.

Oh. I sympathize with you. Apple is a pretty good one, if you can live without root, xposed and mods, since iOS 10.3 is really difficult to jailbreak.
Found this in another post.
"I'll try answer it.
the custom rom trigger sony's security system and lock the phone. you need to flash the security system partition to fix it. the stock rom tft bundle doesn't have the image file needed to flash the security partition. thus, reflash a stock rom won't fix it. sony's security system is also very secure and at this time no one is able to hack it."
I suspect this is what happened to my phone! Apparently Sony DID this! I can't believe they rendered my device useless. I could've continued drying the device myself using rice or silica. This is totally unacceptable.
Update: Here's the post.
Update2: This can also be hardware issue just like this post.
I have ordered replacement signal cable and back cover glue in Aliexpress already. I hope it's just a faulty/corroded cable as I'll try to repair it myself. :/

Mine got water damaged just by washing the screen under the tap . water got in and "no service", no front camera, blurred back camera , random reboot and no sd card problems appeared but i was lucky because it was summer and outside were 40c so the phone recovered in about a week but the sd card slot is gone forever...it can't detect any sd card so be careful with this sony devices because you can have big surprises.
I have dipped my phone on clorine water 3 times and it's water thight, just mic didn't work while it dries,
You need to verify if it's water tight by checking f the pressure sensor is changing when you press the screen ,that can maybe fin a little leak of the waterseal

Hey guys, I had my screen replaced about 2 months ago. Since then the screen itself has been peeling.
So I went a Samsung repair center so they can warranty my screen. Well, they took it, replaced it, then b4 returning it to me. They had to put it on a computer and that's when the computer found the Knox had been tripped.
Now that they put my original screen back. The peeling has gotten worst because the peeled it more..lol
I told their manager, don't they run it through the computer b4 they replace the screen. He said no, why would they*?#&ķ=
I would think they run and do a diagnostics check b4 opening the phone.
Any how, I have a screen that is peeling and can't do nothing about it.

Make them put in writing how modifying the software made the screen go bad, if they can't, tell them it's against the magnusson law .

Nice! Well, it's in the system as being rooted...
Any ideas on how to approach this, the manager said they can not do anything as the phone is rooted.
And I had explain to them, WTF! Does a screen peeling have to do with a rooted phone. And what pissed me off was they SAID the NEW screen was on there, and they put the old screen back..SMH
I tried & tried but ultimately I need to call Samsung direct.
But thank you!

Hi all
I'm hoping to get a z flip 4 soon and want to make sure it's as protected as possible. I want to put a good screen protector on it for obvious reasons and was wondering if I need to remove the factory one first or just put new one on top? I believe samsung say not to remove factory one but videos on YouTube say otherwise. What would you guys do?
Cheers
If u want to put another you have to remove factory one and if u not want to remove factory one then use it only
The factory one is pretty good. No more coming up at the edges. Bought presale still looks new. Samsung also offers one free replacement for first year.

@mt2020 Cheers bud, that's good to hear. I'm really looking forward to getting my first decent phone in years!!
The original foil on the display cannot be removed .
Samsung - threatens to void the warranty if the original foil is torn off .
Even when installing the phone , this message appears .
What's more , if the foil becomes damaged or peels off , Samsung will replace it free of charge .
It is also not recommended to stick additional foil .
Cordial greetings .
The internal one is good. I can see no point in trying to change it.
However, the real danger area is the one on the outside and I cannot work out whether it has a factory fitted protector or not. Any info?
Hello !
The external / cover display is not secured .
Personally , I had a foil stuck on - in one of the well-known chains with electronic equipment and RTV / household appliances .
The cost of such a service is less than 10 Euro ... and it lasted 5 minutes .
Due to the fact that I do not use any case , I also covered the entire phone from the outside .
I took my Flip4 to UBreakIfix to have the original factory screen protector replaced under warranty due to delamination. The Samsung website referred me to them. Unfortunately there are few shops in my area that have the machine to install them and they were out of stock. I didn't realize that they even had a machine to install screen protectors. The tech said that the protector delamination issue has been around since the first Flip. I hope the redesigned hinge on the Flip5 won't have this issue.
Dear @Matterhorn ,
tell - please - after what time the protective foil on your Flip 4 delaminates .
It just happened. I pre-ordered my Flip4 so it must be about 6 months old. I'm hoping that the replacement lasts until the Flip5 is released. I also hope they give a big trade in like last time. Otherwise I might have to go back to Pixel and get the 8.

Mine same age as yours, so far zero issues. Came from Pixel, bugs galore and slow to fix. Great camera though. Samsung really got their act together compared to 5 or more years ago. Watch 5 also isn't fully supported with pixel, so hoping camera gets big boost on flip 5.
