Hey everyone, I have a Android Revolution HD Rom installed and I was wondering if anyone knows how to get rid of the spinning unlock home screen animation?
Correct me if i'm wrong anyone, but I don't believe that there is an option on that ROM

That is a Sense 3.x trademark. If you don't like it, don't install a Sense 3.x based ROM.
There may be a way to patch it to change it, but those as tightly integrated as Sense ROMs tend to be, messing with one small thing like that usually has consequences in other parts of the ROM.
Ok well i guess i can live with it lol. nice rom btw

Before you say that I shouldn't whine for things and that I should try something myself before I beg for something, I have something to say. I've been going a whole week at this trying to somehow port this beautiful MIUI rom to the Aria. I have tried theme porter by taking a translated MIUI rom for another android device and I tried to use attn1's CM 6 rom and try to swap things here and there to make an aesthetically pleasing rom, but when I tried to flash, no luck. Nothing happened. Yet, I saw someone else do this for G1, but I am a novice, not like I know a lot about porting. I know a big problem is that MIUI is for HDPI devices, and I tried to convert but was met with meager success. Now, my request is that maybe someone like attn1 or another android rom expert port MIUI to the Aria. Like I said, I attempted my best but was met with little success. The best I could do was create a pseudo MIUI launcher system, still need to work on the dock.
Here is how my Aria is set up right now (launcher only)
i56(dot)tinypic(dot)com/2uib12c(dot)png (darn picture restriction)
I also have the iphone lock screen and keyboard, lets face it, iOS is more aesthetically pleasing while android is all about the user and customization. This is the very reason I want MIUI, a great bridge taking the best of both worlds.
MIUI would be fun to mess around with. However, the Aria does not have a huge set of developer support. And I don't think that Attn1 is willing to devote the effort required to port MIUI to our phone.
I've been trying to do the same. Except I have an incredible too, that has miui on it, that I've been trying to port it from.
The only problem is the framework and mdpi issues. Its gonna take some time to get this successfully running.
Sent from my incredible Incredible.
i personally only want miui for the toolbar, many home screens, and some of the built in apps. I do not howerver want the app icons and iosy look.
btx here are some devs working on putting this on another mdpi device... the hero, our good old htc cousin...

The g1 has the same screen size and resolution as the aria so perhaps try working your port from the g1 rom instead?

G1 has no miui rom. They have a WIP going on though... see here for details

So r u saying that we fan flash g1 roms?
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
No you can't flash g1 roms because the hardware is entirely different, but the screen size and resolution is the same between them so as far as porting a rom goes, its a better place to start than a rom for something like an evo.

So..
I'm guessing it either can't be done or the task is way too tedious for a ROM that pretty much might be overshadowed by CM 7 (2.3 if we get that)

Hi,
In the time you've been waiting for an answer, you could have made a nandroid backup, visited THIS FORUM,and picked, say, the most popular ROM.
You could then install it and see for yourself what it is like.
Each ROM thread has a brief description of what it is like, and the whole process would take 20 minutes.
If you don't like that one, choose another.
Why wait for someone else's OPINION,when you can make an informed decision for yourself.
Just saying.

The rom I recommend is the Android Revolution HD, specially version 4.1.x is great and has the latest version of HTC sense, try it..
Pyramid 3D is the best for me so far. Maybe LeeDroid when it gets updated with custom kernel.

DIGITALIZED is very smooth and has no faults and has the sense version 2.3.5 and 3.5 sense

The best ROM by far is CM7. Don't listen to these noobs.
I would say Android Revolution HD, but you should try different roms with different kernels to find one that suits your need.
I think there are 2 separations, Sense or non-sense, decide which side then try some roms =]
Are any of the ROMS fully customizable? I want to be able to turn off the foolish ring lock and remove all the themes wallpaper and live backgrounds from this phone. plus i would like to remove all the pre installed apps. I only want phone and messaging and vpn on my phone . i also want to brows the files on my pc and access them with some sort of file manager. i would like to change the hard set buttons on the main sreen to diffrent ones that i use . i would like to lock the screen from carouseling to just a single screen that dosent move. is there such a rom?

Don't take it personal noob.

lol +1
and to the guy who posted that -
Android is by far the most customizable OS out there.
Wait for a weekend or some other free time, read for about an hour and do it yourself. You can add or remove anything you want anywhere if you know how. If you cant be bothered reading or cant understand the explanations on how-to do whatever youre trying to accomplish, dont root your phone. Until then you're better off selling your phone, buying a nokia, reading up on android from basics and buying another android phone when youre done being helpless.
You claim youre a 40 year old biker. Unless you've been biking for a living, you'd have some basic computer skills. Thats all you need.

For now it has a couple of bugs (eg some apps force close at random times), but it's still a useable ROM.
I can only talk from my experiences, but for me it's been really good.
You should flash it and try it out for yourself. If you don't think it's as good as the other ARHD ROM's you can always go back to them.

I've flashed it and i see one thing: Where is the music player?? i don't see it (
Virtuous inquisition (ICS) also has a nice rotation animation and is fairly stable. (I used it for a few days with mostly minor issues) The only major problem I had was the stock music player lagged so much it was unusable, but I use Cloudskipper for music anyway. All the ICS roms still need a bit more time to become daily drivers for most users, but ARHD 4.1.X (GB) has an addon for a fairly good animation if you need a more stable rom.
Of course none of the rotation animations are as good as the moto droids (although moto did almost everything else wrong)

hehhe i'm not alone in hoping we'll get a better animation soon. So far all my attempts to bring anything from moto's horribly designed blur roms to sense has only resulted in infinite boot loops
The only issue I see with the rotations is that some apps rotate if you turn the phone one way and not the other. In general ARHD 5.0.2 is very stable

I think I know what you're talking about... Its the screen lock animation right? it looks like a tube tv turning off.
You can get that animation if you flash most Cyanogenmods. I am running JellyTime_R29 by Randomblame and it is based on CM10, and a friend of mine chose to stick with cm7. Both have this animation. There may be some other way of modding your current rom, but I couldn't advise to do that. It would be easiest to just install a rom that supports that animation.
Hope that helped! If so, hit thanks

CRT animation (that is called) is not hard to set in a rooted device. Here is a guide on how to do it manually: http://www.freeyourandroid.com/guide/enable-crt-animation
I don't know AR but other roms have tweaks where you can enabled/disable it, check if that exist in the setup menu. :good:

I've never used AR, but if you're set on sticking with that rom then there is probably a mod you can make or flash to the /system/something that would do this for you. the easiest solution is using a rom that supports that animation though.
Hi,
I have a little question.
Sense is not really bad, but there are two major things that looks really better in vanilla Android (or CM10 that I'm using) than in Sense.
The lockscreen in Sense is not my favourite and really ugly is the call screen (the original vanilla Android is really beautiful).
So my question, is there a way, just to replace those 2 features? Because stock Android with sense worked much better on my OneS.

If you look in system/app/ you'll find HtcLockScreen.apk, remove this file as root and you will revert to the vanilla android stock screen (I have personally done this on 1.7.1 Stock rooted mod), perhaps a similar technique will work with the call screen (try at your own risk)
Also troby86 when I tried installing your United Vanilla Rom I was unable to get the FM radio to start, since I'm new I can't post about ti in the development thread...
