DJ_Steve is the man! Got that Honeycomb 3.1 running on my streak thanks to him and Hellzya! This really makes the device much sexier. The density issue is small for me since I don't have a problem reading small print, but it doesn't work for my dad at all.. luckily most web browsers support a zoom feature as that is the primary reason we have the tab. I have no questions... I'm a noob yes... but only to these boards. Not to rooting or anything like that. I love android... hell even jailbroke a few ipods. I'm just not a programmer or anything like that. If I were I wouldn't hesitate to offer help for all this beautiful android hacking.

I have CM7 on my Optimus v. I LOVE THIS THING. It's made everything about this phone, especially the battery life, better. Rooting is fun. lol. GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKK OOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUTTTTTTT!!!
HoneyComb is awesome!!!!
Yeah, honeycomb is awesome.Only problem is that Google decided to become [email protected]*ckers on the matter and don't release the damn source code so that it could be ported to phones.Yes,Ice Cream Sandwich will have Honeycomb's features and is near to be released, but is it the spirit of XDA to wait for official stuff?Nah,I don't think so.
Come on Google,Android is supposed to be open.I don't want to buy a tablet. Not yet at least,I don't like the Tegra 2(The Exynos on my Galaxy S II makes Tegra 2 devices look like cheap toys, that's why ).And when the Tegra 3 will be out,Ice Cream Sandwich will be out too.

Why wait? Have some HC goodness with a GB-CM7 HC themed ROM.
I love the way youtube looks on HC. I just wish more apps worked on it. I many of my favorite apps crash on me in HC, but they aren't things I can't live without. Besides, whatever doesn't run there typically does on the phone so I still get my apps one way or another. One day we will have android installed in our brains and I will have to root myself.
Hi guys,
i've been using an HD2 with a variety of android and wp7 roms! However, i got nostalgic and fixed my original iphone 2g. And i'm very happy with it.
But here's the thing: iOs seems dull after using the graphical sexy wp7. And after searching these forums i couldn't find my answer so here's my question:
Is there a possibility that the new WP7 Mango can run / be ported to the original iphone? And do you know if anyone's already working on it?
Would love to have it, even pay for it!

I doubt it. The processor and graphics card would not be able to support it.
However, it is plausible that it might work on an iPhone 4.
Alternatively, there are tweaks on Cydia which themes your iPhone to look like WP7 and you may like to google or YouTube that.
I Jailbroke My Brother iPhone and there is so many more apps on there and seems like there's alot more stuff on a iPhone then on a Rooted Android. They have somthing called Dreamboard theres a theme called Endroid and makes it look just like android i wish Android had All these Apps.

You can do more on Android. But they both have their negatives and positives. Don't listen to the guy under you. When you buy a phone its what the user wants. Android runs fine if you don't buy low budget devices. Battery life and performance is the is subjective on any device. By area you live and network your on. Nothing really works better than the each other. It's easier to make money for developers on ios than android. Because there are hardly any hardware differences on Apple so you will find more apps on Apple app store.

If you like modify your phone buy something with Android but you must to be ready for this that your phone will not have an every update as in iPhone because on Android market there is a large fragmentation of different phones.
You just need to look..
I have a low budget Android Phone (LGE Optimus One) & my friend with his apple iPhone 4 feels like he wasted money on his apple..
You can customize Android to look like iOS, Windows7, MIUI and many other UI's like Lewa, HTC Sense etc. Even my 600Mhz processor runs ICS..
As for apps distribution, there are lol how can i count apps on Google Play store, and even apps that are incompatible for low end phones like mine get ARMv6 patched versions to download..
So if u spend the amount of money as for iPhone on Android, you can burn the apple..

You said lots of apps exist for jb iphone but only mentioned a theming app. That's not lots of apps, so not sure what you find is missing as even on a standard unrooted android you can do more theming etc than jb iphone.
Is there a specific app you find missing?

I watched, and didn't see anything that isn't available on Android either by default or with an app. Different keyboards, themes, panoramic camera, etc. are all available on Android without jailbreaking and using an alternative market.
Personally, I switched to my Galaxy Nexus in December after four years of using an iPhone and never looked back. The only thing I miss is FaceTime, and there are alternatives for that anyway. If you have any desire at all to change things on your phone, Android is the way to go.
It depends
You asked if you can "do more" on one rather than the other. The answer is not simple, but it comes down to a matter of preference. My preference is Android - it gives me the freedom I want over my device.
Android equals pure freedom on your phone and total control over it

Android has soooo many options it's rediculous. An iphone is the same as my androids app drawer. =P
What you want is a Nokia man. The most robust phones in the world today
android has so many roms and apps, you can choose the fastest rom for yourself.
i owned an iphone before and then went to android OS i have never looked back and all my latest phones run android there is so much more i can do with my android than on my old iphone
Android Its ....
Android, its open source.. so many developers can build many application tha fit my need.. because its open, the price relativelly cheaper than iphone...
Iphone, it seted up in my mind, that device hardlly exclusive, with all aplication exclusive only for iphone user.. not open.. and more expensive..
i prefer android device.. i paid cheaper for most app on google play.. custom rom, custom kernel.. even though i only consume it..
There's no correct answer to this question. It's like asking, "Which is better... a sports car or a speed boat?" They're both great, but are you on a road or a lake?
The real question is which one suits you best and no-one can answer that but yourself.

Can I do more stuff on Android or iPhone?
My phone, SGS2.

Virtually everything new, weekly if not daily.
My g/f phone, iPhone 3GS.
2 years ago, it was iOS, 1 year ago, it was still iOS with same GUI, now, it is still iOS with again, same interface; a year from now, it will be still iOS with the same freaking interface.
Now, telling me, which one you can do MORE
---------- Post added at 01:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:03 PM ----------
Oh, btw, if you want to have iPhone-alike GUI on Android, get MIUI ROM.
Keep using it and just change it whenever Apple release a rev-up iOS, still more amazing
I don't know what is wrong with both android and ios fanboys they all like to spread bull crap about each others devices and give out misinformation. My JB iphone does everything my rooted android phone does. There are tons tons of apps in the cydia store that helps customize your home screen and do all kinds of stuff. What it really comes down to is app qaulity, because you can only do customization so long. Android is badly beat when it comes to amount of apps and the quality of them and that's for both official and non official (cydia apps) apps. I tell you both android and ios fanboys disgust me with the garbage they sprew about each others platform. Its great being part of both worlds and knowing the truth.

If jb iphone can do everything rooted android can where is ios version of app like tasker?
There is none, check any iphone forum and ask if you think I'm mistaken. Its not possible even on a jb iphone because of how ios works.
Again what about capturing your phones activities on video like screencast? Not possible even on jb so no its not being a fanboy to say jb iphone can do all an android can because thanks to ios limitations it really can't.

Hey guys,
I'm looking up for a new phone to buy and after a while digging into I got caught undecided between a Nexus S and an Omnia W. One is Android, other Windows Phone. I had a Galaxy 5 before, using unofficial Cyanogemod 7, and got a little disappointed with Android Gingerbread. Don't know now with ICS. Is it really better? But what I like about Android is the ability to install ROM's and being able to have the newest updates. On the other hand, there's the WP, which I had an oportunity to try for a few minutes, and liked at first, the system is really smooth, fast... Also, the Omnia W has a great battery life. But I just don't know about future updates for the Omnia... Also, I'd like to know about the battery life of Nexus S, someone who has one, could you tell me?
I'd apreciate a lot if someone could help me. Sorry about my english, ha.
Thank's in advanced.
what is the dissappoint things about GB?
I don't understand why people even like winmo7, android is fast moving and more user flexible
I would suggest grabbing either
-Galaxy S (international I9000), Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus
ICS is pretty good but if you don't like GB it is most likely the launcher that is the problem, try using a different launcher until you are happy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Android_Launchers
I personally like ICS & ADW

Honestly, WP 7 seems to be a great platform. Also is Android. And the comment about the Launch, it wasn't it (at least I guess), I used to change between them. The thing was, I used to get a lot force close and this stuff.
Thanks for the reply.
considering WP7 is quite a new contender compared to droid, sooner or later both have their own adv and disadv. As murmur95 stated, Android tends to move faster because of its open source licensing (but not saying other than open source, the rests are bad things, they are good also, but i don't know their advs and disadvs).
If launcher forces close, I think have some issues with compatibility with the ROM, so you can either reflash the ROM and see if it works. ICS is essentially a new version of GB with some modification here and there, and yes. gives more feature, more stability, more speed, more battery saving etc2..so ICS is a very nice addition. That aside, you can simply watch videos, or read people's feedback of both WP or Android, but if you ask me, I favor Android better ^^V
I have tried W7 android and IOS believe me android is the best.

Go ahead and buy one of Google's golden cages...
If you're such a lover of Android why not the latest MOTOROLA DROID which
at least is reasonably independent from Google gimmicks.
With any other device you'll have to ask for permission to, subscribe a compulsory
gmail account, allow google interfering with sundry notifications --
interrupting whatever activitties you may be on the edge of performing, etc.
Samsung machines while undeniably well designed and produced are little
more than advertising enforcers for Google -- see if you can easily get rid of
applications that fulfil your restricting space of internal memory, such as research,
google talk, etc. etc -- unless you're a fan of the said.
I'm inviting you to take notice of a two-posts query and shout for help concerning
one of those marvellous pieces-of-work:«Guidance to Samsung Galaxy Gio (S5660)??»,
and provide me your feed-back abou my issues therein...
Good grief! And i thought that the major manipulative OS was Windows -- I
even changed to linux (ZORIN 5,2 if you care to know) -- and then i went and
spoiled my own move and bought a Galaxy Gio...
I'm sorry if i sound too boring to you (and all).
Greetings and better luck than i had.
N'Rique
Why would you not consider the Galaxy Nexus, the successor to the Nexus S?
I think if that if you like the idea of installing custom roms then going for the nexus s would be a good shout. I believe that Google have been a bit slow rolling out ICS to it officially but this would give you the perfect opportunity to flash the latest versions of it yourself
First, thanks to all for replying.
About the force closes it wasn't only about the Launcher, was about lot of apps. The Galaxy Nexus is twice the price of Nexus S here, so...
What about Nexus S battery life? Has anyone tried this phone?
Thanks.

Android won't be able to brag about having Adobe Flash on Jellybean so now the playing field should be about even. We'll have to wait and see how the two OS makers do on innovation to attract people. I for one will stay with android no matter what apple comes out with. (don't tell my Ipad)

All depends on what your preference is. If you love an open ecosystem on your phone, love flashing ROMs and basically have complete control over your phone, go android. If you want to have a boring interface (prolly always will be cuz they havent changed $&@t since it first came out) and a locked down ecosystem where apple dictates what you do with your phone, go iphone. I know im really biased towards the android. Ive played with both and definitely love android more. Though you might just wanna wait for the iphone 5 to actually come out or atleast wait for some official specs then decide for sure. Either way ull def be happy.
IPhone if you want a closed and restricted device that let's you do NOTHING to the phone that you want. Besides being able to set a photo as a wallpaper and lock screen wallpaper.
You get to do MUCH more with JB than what iPhone's OS offers. Don't buy it because of it's apple brand and popularity. If you have Android, you'll DEFINITELY lose your features.

Well considering we don't really know much about the iPhone 5 other than iOS 6 and also considering a JB Android phone hasn't been mass-produced yet... I'd say it's a little early to say one way or another unless you just want to start a Apple-Android flamewar
I think both Apple and Google will have great phones running on their respective platforms though. It'd be cool to see what happens and what is released
JB I think ,more device for choosing. 4S is the 5th iPhone (iPhone, iPhone 3G,3GS,4,4S)....Maybe the new one will named iPhone 6 or iPhone LTE?

I'd always choose an Android device, since you can customize it to the very end. Actually the thread title should be iPhone 5 vs Galaxy Nexus, because it's the first Android device to have jelly bean. Considering updates over hardware the Galaxy Nexus is the phone you want, for hardware I'd say Galaxy S3.

HI
I think the main issue of android it improve the virtual machine that is using because as all know IO5 runs directly on hardware. With the same hardware I would say that iphone will always be more smoother and with no lags.
I hope with 4.1 google solves that issues.

Assuming the iPhone will get a 4" screen then it will really fit in the "high end" category. But now, It is in the same "too small screen" category as my 2.8" Optimus Me.
Heads up for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Two votes going to Samsung Galaxy S3 (updatable to JB) and Galaxy Nexus HSPA+.
