Wifi issue after 3.2 - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am experiencing some bizarre wifi issues, without any reason my transformer has begun some sort of loop..
Basically it keeps turning wifi on and off constantly and the only way to stop it is to turn the device completely off..
Does anybody else know of this issue ?
And hopefully how to fix it.. :/
I'll film it next time it happens just to show exactly what is going on.

mine seems to be fine after updating to 3.2
maybe its compatibility issues with your wifi router.
try disabling wireless N mode in your wifi router, because if i am not mistaken the TF does not implement full wireless N mode over all bands.

wifi N
I have a dual band, I am broadcasting on both 5GHz and 2.4GHz and none of my other units seems to have any issues.
Also not an automatic channel, I've set it up to be the channel with the least interference..
There doesn't really seem to be a reason for the issue.
Only new addition to my devices is a popcorn hour, but that is cabled and has no cause to be an issue for a wifi unit.

Same here
Wifi power is turning on and off and on and off...
It happens when i wake up my TF, but after 2 min it is ok.

I'm having this issue as well, I'm using the latest stock 3.2, the only way to break the loop is to shut the TF down and then reboot.
Its random, but seems to be happening more after a wake up from standby.
At home or on my friends WiFi.

Im having this issue too...seems to happen after sleep . Only way to stop it for me is a reboot...very annoying

I know its a pain but have you tried a factory reset. I'm not seeing this issue with any rom. I have in the past but it was from not wiping when changing roms

The issue was created in the most recent update of Google Maps. If you go to "My Apps" and uninstall the Google Maps Update, you will no longer have the WiFi Issues. This fix has been confirmed with tests.

She be posted as a "sticky"

Thank you very much! I was searching all over the forums for this. One post mentioned about wireless signal channels but had no effect. Not until I came upon this post did it resolve the problem. Has someone notified Google about this? Also, I think this should be placed as a "sticky" so everyone can find it at the top of the Q&A list.

THANK YOU
Is it weird to say that I love you ??
This problem was driving me nuts..
Used up 40% battery life on nothing other than that crap :/
Impressive that Google once again releases such a buggy update, sometimes I wonder if they ever test what they release..

Just started happening to me yesterday. I upgraded awhile ago, so it may have been happening all along, but I just noticed it yesterday.
I had to change my settings to no longer turn off wifi, so I just leave wifi on constantly and this stopped the problem. I'm sure I'm draining the battery faster, but the wifi on/off loop was annoying me. Hopefully the bug will be fixed soon.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk

Thanks, I've now set mine too, to wifi always on. Where are bugs like this reported?

I too have this weird wifi on/off loop after coming out of standby both at home and at work. 3.2 updated and happily used with no problems. This started in the past 5/6 days or so. I like the sound of blaming Google Maps updates though. Will give it a try.
It's never weird to express your love!

It worked. Now how do I make sure maps doesn't auto update as it has done in the past? I can set that option for stuff I've downloaded but not maps.

Noticed this problem as well. I thought the transformer had gone bonkers.

Bug raised
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=20076

What version of Google maps? I just bought my TF and I have v5.2.0 installed on the device, with no options to downgrade. My WIFI won't even turn on and recognise any networks.

I am again experiencing the problem, even after removing the maps update.. :/

Workaround
I have a solution posted to my blog, but I cannot link to it. It's a simple fix, no patch or anything like that.
Google can probably find it as it's a Blogger site.
My link to my blog was flagged as spam.
I have just a teensy problem with the definition of what's spam here and what's not.
I don't like creating content all the time for someone else's site and increasing their traffic through my work. I help out here a little here and there as it is on this site.
This one, I'm keeping.
It's jerdog's right to control this board, but if I come up with something original, or at least something I hadn't been able to find myself, I think I should at least get the traffic for giving it away.
So, I hope this is enough of a gray area post to not get it flagged again.

Yep - your posts are spamming XDA with redirects to your own site. Against the rules. Contribute to XDA - don't spam XDA. Enough said.

[Q/NEED HELP] GPS inaccuracy

Hello everyone. As you can see I have a GPS inaccuracy problem. My phone fixes to 7-8 satellites really fast (approx. 10 sec.), but when I use Run Keeper/similar sports tracker or Google Maps my trail is like zig-zag, app shows that I'm moving at crazy speed and so on. I tried AGPS Patch 3.1 by crypted, GPS fix by xenova, flashing some Radios (31_M and 18_M), ROMs and kernels (currently ARHD and Sultan kernel, tried ViperS, CM10.1), but nothing helps... I add some pictures which show my trail when I went across street (Vilniaus g.). Please help. Thanks

Nobody knows what problem this is?
If the problem remains also after wiping all, I think it could be an hardware issue.
Have you always had this problem?
When you use GPS while driving your car, the path has the same issue?
Totally wiped and installed CM10.1, but the problem remains. I bought it used. I don't know how much time it was used, but the digitizer had stock glue and the VOID is not damaged. No rust. So I think the previous user didn't have problems with phone. Never used navigation in car because I live in small country, which doesn't require any navigation to drive across Can RUU affect this? I really need normal lock...
If you try using only google maps? Test it making sure that it is the only app using GPS (kill background open apps).
i have the exact same problem! I've had the phone for a while, so maybe it's something that is worn. I'm thinking about the connections between the antennas and the phone for example. I hope we can find a solution! It's independent of which rom I use and which apps I use.
Have you seen this tip? "New Sensation Install - Gps Problems (Fixed)" @ cyanogenmod forum.
I can't find the option in cm10.1. So maybe they removed it or changed it to something else.
I'm thinking about flashing cm9 just to try it..

Google Maps behaves exactly the same. Arrow, which shows my position, jumping all arround my street pretty much the same as in RunKeeper.

I don't think that this is something software specific. I think that the problem is hiding somewhere deeper but not in software, because all roms and different radios behave the same way. I think this is something hardware related.

Mmm, then I think it's an hardware problem... try to contact HTC support!
Hello again every one. I don't want to create a new thread so I'm writting here. Maybe someone knows what problem this is? HTC support, as always, suggesting me to do things like resetting phone, pulling out the battery, fully charge and so on... I thinking about selling this wonderful phone because of such a big problem... I can't use GPS everywhere...
Gps inaccuracy problem is also facing to me too.
I solved it by flashing the latest firmware and use clocksync before each time i run. Works reasonable, but the clock drifts quite fast. It wasnt enough to only use clocksync or only flash firmware.

It's back.. I've ordered an Omate Truesmart to use for running instead..
My thoughts are that it could be the gps antenna connections to the back. I have no other ideas..

1. step go to location services on Settings!
Disable all of them
2. step Disable these applications, if you do not use any!
3. step go to "google settings"
And search location
and disable these
Enjoy longer battery life
(And wow those picture seems too huge o.o)

Tell me the threads please.
Wow what a fix! I have a better one -
1. put phone in garbage
2. buy a nokia 3100
OR:
put phone on flight mode and use it ONLY to tell time.
And on a more serious note:
C'mon dude, are you serious?.. a "fix" means you don't loose any functionality of the device, what you did there was disabling almost every good and important feature that in the first place is the reason people buy these phones, so disabling them to get around a bug which drains the battery?.. that's.. well I don't need to say it.
And for the fix that does work - turn off "Location reporting" only - from my experience this will not make you loose any location based functionality as I use every thing that has to do with locations, Google can still tell where I am, and Google now still tells me time to work\home, flight times, packages dispatched, weather updates etc. turning "location reporting" off fixed the Google services battery drain issue I had, and I still turn it on from time to time to see if Google had fixed this, last time I checked it was still draining the battery.

I think the guide is not for u, mate.
But this guide is for people who wants to prolong the battery life.
Location reporting is one of the main battery factor on an android device.
I personally don't use it as I don't want any apps (facebook, etc) to do this and I have disable more google-related things than what the OP has posted.
Are you for real or is this just some kind of joke?
Firstly, this fix isn't a fix, its just turning some things off.
Secondly, this information has been around for a long time now and is relevant to any Android phone, not just the S4.
And no, I am not going to post links to the hundreds of threads and posts on the many websites and forums out there who have already posted this before you and with more detailed information.
Seriously, why have you bothered posting this rubbish?
The most suitble statement is the tip for prolong the battery life. Tks OP for yr sharing.

HELP! I think my phone is being remotely controlled by hacker

I've been having some weird things going on with my phone. I don't know if it is me just being paranoid or if someone is really controlling and spying on my phone. Two days ago I started running DroidSheepGuard bc I was having issues mapping the IP addresses on my network. Using Fing was only showing me half of the IPs, something just wasnt right. I had droidsheepguard alert me 4 times in the past 2 days so I started running a logcat and was wondering if some of the things I have been seeing is normal or not.
TaskManagerackageInfo: RunningApp[Service] - pkg:com.android.incallui

ChimeraRcvrProxyroxy Containing Receiver
NodeUri:LAWMO_PREV_CODE cannot..... (it has a bunch
ProxyApplication:++++onCreate++++
ProxyMgr:init
AirMessegeManager:++++bindToService++++
These are just a few things I see (no particular order) that caught my attention. I will post some screenshots soon. How could I ensure that my phone is not being remotely controlled. What are the best measures to take to ensure I am safe? Thank you in advance, I may just be really paranoid but I'd like to be sure.

Does anyone see anything off in these screen shots? What is the best way to be sure this isnt happening to me? Thank you in advance!
Anyone?
I saw two things that convince me you are being hacked from Ork. The cracked screen acts as a long range interstellar antenna powered by dirty fingernails.
What is Ork? And dirty fingernails? Are you being sarcastic? Do you really see anything? I've had a lot of weird stuff goin on and I don't know what it is. Even typing this message is very difficult when it shouldn't be. I don't ask for much help but I could really use some advice
@Ramer, Out of everyone on here your one of the most helpful people I've came across, please help me solve this. I have had really strange things happen. This isn't just happening on my s5, I also have a stupid iphone, and my brand new laptop that has issues. The other day I flashed a new rom (4x) and when it booted up I didnt sync my email or any account, I didnt connect to wifi, I immediately ran the catlog app which I had exported the apk so I could quickly instal it without google play. I noticed something strange and powered it down, as its in the close out boot animation I get a call on my iphone from my droid. Keep in mind I don't have a single number in my contact list, so unless it randomly just called the exact number for my iphone which I don't see as possible (out of every number in the world to call on accident, the one sitting right next to me?) something is going on. I have disabled wifi, 3g and mobile data, it STILL does strange stuff. I have removed system apps that come back, I've even battled with this thing while removing that "Ant" app, it put it right back when I uninstalled it. I've had this thing slow down my text messages and right before I click the next key to spell the word out, I can see a symbol pop up (like a transparent symbol behind the key I am trying to hit) . I get pop up messeges that tell me I am roaming when I'm at my house all the time, I try not to push anything and restart my phone but they keep coming...Awhile ago this happened and I flashed the firmware my phone came with, I think it was 4.4.2, then I manually flashed the 5.0 lp and rooted, still there. I have replaced my router twice, got any old device off my network, and got a new laptop...My iphone does similar stuff, theres way more background data that runs than foreground data, my iphone says its location is coming from Atlanta, I'm in NC.

I'm sorry, I don't have a clue. I was being a bit of a smart *** earlier, it's was hard to resist. Honestly, the only solution would be a complete wipe including internal and external SD. I don't think anyone will have a solution, which is why your posts went unanswered.
I think you are too paranoid. I think if you are that concerned, you should run unrooted stock. I can't answer all your questions, but i have had uninstalled programs install on reboot on a deodex rom. I have no idea why this happens but I'm not worried. I sometimes an roaming at home too. I figured it is because the signal isn't so good.

Connected, no internet WiFi problem after Nougat update - BTU

Hello guys!
After Nougat update, the WiFi connection stops from time to time. A exclamation mark appears on WiFi sign and internet is not working. If i reconnect everything is ok a while. I wiped, but i still have this problem. I tested on 2 different routers.

This was a useless recommendation. There're too many people with an issue and this shouldn't be a problem. Especially when the same device and routers has no problem befor nougat and then continuous problems after update.

More like off shore tech support. At least you didn't recommend factory reset of the guys phone.
But seriously? Troubleshooting? It seems you know the meaning, but not the steps. If you build some before, after, and comparitive context to the users situation, you may have come to a different conclusion.
To the poor soul that gets here with a question burning in everyone's mind, "why me?" Go to Samsung and complain, get a new phone and viola, problem passed on. Especially if you just got it. There are a bunch of issues that you may also be unlucky to have in addition to the WiFi struggling to accept what it thinks as a weak internet connection.
Context:
I did not have any of these issues pre-Nougat;
Nothing change at home, work, and I assume the other locations either;
After the update I factory reset hoping for resolution;
Nope. Purely ignored defect from Samsung...
In addition I suffer from loudspeaker audio cutting out on YouTube videos, which is resovled if you go to a music player and play a few seconds of a song and then go back to the video. Must be the static IP need... Which even if it resolved the issue is still not a resolution! Are you going to assign static IPs everywhere you go? Common dude.
I have the exact same wifi connected, but no internet problem on AT&T S7. It connects if i toggle wifi off and on, but this is annoying

I had this problem in the past.
What I did was look up the APN settings for my phone with a specific carrier.
Then I went into settings and created a NEW APN with those exact settings.
You then have to save it, select it, and reboot your phone.
It solved my problem, which was an APN that had gotten corrupted.

Network Connection Failed Error - Note 8

Hey everyone, i have been having this annoying error/pop-up/notification that has been bothering me since i got the Note 8. Everytime i turn on the screen to unlock it, i get the "Network connection failed" message.
Now, this happens, when i have cell signal at full bars, LTE or Wi-Fi and at all different locations. I tried resetting the phone, adding the apps without any sort of backup, deleting apps, switching my carriers APN, I tried replacing the phone but it always comes back.
I tried contacting Samsung but they are clueless as to what i am taking about.
Does anyone have any suggestions into how i could proceed to fix this, or is anyone aware of what the problem is?
Who is your carrier?

Same issue
I have this same issue - annoying but no negative affects...
Verizon is my carrier - I am not so sure this is a carrier issue. In fact, not sure how someone with so little information can definitively say it is a carrier issue...More will report this issue too!
I have the same issue. Verizon
I believe this has something to do with the aggressiveness of power management sleeping apps...see if you still get the error after switching mobile data always on in developers options...I had to switch some of apps off in power saving mode as well because of the aggressiveness...it could be something else though...just an idea
Same problem here I have a Qualcomm carrier free note 8 using it on T-Mobile. It's driving me crazy
Note 8 - T-Mobile
I have just recently encountered this error.
Drives me crazy as well.
This feels like an application issue. I am obviously not certain. Going to do some digging.
If I find a solution, I will report it here.
I think it has to do with download booster.
Same Issue 11-9-17
Has anyone found a solution for this? I'm also having this issue as of 11-9-17. Have tried enabling/disabling download booster, enabling/disabling mobile data always on and have tried a few network resets with Verizon Tech Coach.
I got all the way up to Tier 2 and every person I spoke to agrees this is a weird issue they haven't seen before. Mine seems to come and go. Sometimes I can get hit with the pop-up every time I unlock, other times it'll behave fine for hours then start up again for a little bit then stop. Thankfully there is no impact to operation, but still annoying.
Anyone figure this out...it is driving me crazy.
this is a combination of power saving and the "show nearby locations" in the phone app being active.
can turn off either and issue should disappear.
I have this happening on my s8. Haven't figured out which app/service is causing it but I killed a bunch and the error went away. It's likely one of the hundred background Samsung services. I'll try to narrow it down.
same for me

I also have Verizon. It used to happen on my Nexus 6P and now Pixel 2. If I ever figure out which app, I'll let you know.
Mine randomly stopped about 2 weeks ago. I know there have been a couple updates since my post so I'm not 100% sure if those fixed or if it was something else. Still a mystery as far as I'm concerned.

This seemed to work but just now saw the error again when I unlocked my phone. I turned "show nearby locations" in the phone app back on, will look into power save options next.
I've had this problem for probably close to a year and I'm really getting tired of it, even though it's just a nuisance.
I went into settings<connections<more connection settings<turned off nearby device scanning and then reset network connections which got rid of the notification on the bottom of the screen. I'm sure it'll keep popping up but for now that's what worked for me
Is there a solution for this yet? Is there any way to disable the message? Every time I change from WiFi to Mobile or vice-versa, I have to deal with this for the next 10 min or so. I have tried all the fixes mentioned here.
Solution
Install the app Toast Service from the Playstore. This will run in the background and show you which app is causing the problem. Mine was Hikvision. As soon as the error arrives you will see under notifications when you pull down from the top which app is causing the message. Hope this helps all.
