Connected, no internet WiFi problem after Nougat update - BTU - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hello guys!
After Nougat update, the WiFi connection stops from time to time. A exclamation mark appears on WiFi sign and internet is not working. If i reconnect everything is ok a while. I wiped, but i still have this problem. I tested on 2 different routers.
Anyone else with this? Solutions?

Have you tried assigning the phone a static IP?
See if it still drops, if not it could be having a problem with DHCP

Settings > Connections > WiFi > Long press on your wireless connection > Manage network settings > Show advanced options > Change DHCP to Static
Make sure correct IP, Gateway, DNS etc is filled in and hit save
Mine auto filled it from the previous DHCP info it already had so just have to hit save

This was a useless recommendation. There're too many people with an issue and this shouldn't be a problem. Especially when the same device and routers has no problem befor nougat and then continuous problems after update.

More like off shore tech support. At least you didn't recommend factory reset of the guys phone.
But seriously? Troubleshooting? It seems you know the meaning, but not the steps. If you build some before, after, and comparitive context to the users situation, you may have come to a different conclusion.
To the poor soul that gets here with a question burning in everyone's mind, "why me?" Go to Samsung and complain, get a new phone and viola, problem passed on. Especially if you just got it. There are a bunch of issues that you may also be unlucky to have in addition to the WiFi struggling to accept what it thinks as a weak internet connection.
Context:
I did not have any of these issues pre-Nougat;
Nothing change at home, work, and I assume the other locations either;
After the update I factory reset hoping for resolution;
Nope. Purely ignored defect from Samsung...
In addition I suffer from loudspeaker audio cutting out on YouTube videos, which is resovled if you go to a music player and play a few seconds of a song and then go back to the video. Must be the static IP need... Which even if it resolved the issue is still not a resolution! Are you going to assign static IPs everywhere you go? Common dude.

I have the exact same wifi connected, but no internet problem on AT&T S7. It connects if i toggle wifi off and on, but this is annoying

I had this problem in the past.
What I did was look up the APN settings for my phone with a specific carrier.
Then I went into settings and created a NEW APN with those exact settings.
You then have to save it, select it, and reboot your phone.
It solved my problem, which was an APN that had gotten corrupted.

[Q] samsung galaxy mini wifi issue

hey guys .
I bought a Samsung galaxy mini ( gt-s5570 ) ,its good except the WiFi .
It can work with my home network for only one time ,if i try to connect again it won't allow me .
I've tried (Nokia N81-Nokia N82-Nokia N8- Samsung Star- Samsung Star 2- Samsung galaxy SII- Samsung Note- Apple Iphone4s) and all of these devices works perfectly with my router ,so i think its the phone not the router .
the router is a Linksys WAG54G2 with latest firmware update version : V1.00.19 ,I've tried all type of security and i even disabled it without any luck .
I've been searching Google for over a month now without any success but I've noticed that this problem happens with many other handsets .
to fix it i have only two options :
1- restart the router ( which is inconvenient ) .
2- factory reset the phone ( can't live with an empty phone 4ever ) .
I tried everything on phone settings and on router settings with no success at all ,I even tried apps from android market to fix WiFi but it didn't work .
any help will be appreciated ,thanks guys.
Here is some pics stating the problem

then

if i click on my network name it shows three options (connect, forget, cancel)
when i choose CONNECT it state that my network is not in range even though I'm sitting on the router

If i restart my router or i factory reset my phone the WiFi works again for a day or a few hours

please guys help me in this ,thanks so much .
any help will be appreciated guys
there must be some hope !!!
does anyone know if it is a problem with hardware or software
I've been searching all over the internet for about 4 months now and tried all suggested work around but no luck at all ,how come such a perfect OS like android has such a stupid bug and its not only on Samsung mini its on many other handsets .How can't Google get a permanent fix for this problem and why everyone around the world is so quiet about this problem just because android is so good to be criticized .I was convinced that android is the best OS but now i don't know anymore .
i won't give up
and i'll wait for a solution to the most stupid bug on the most so called successful mobile OS of this time

Unfortunately i didn't find any solution. But i found out that this problem is only on the stupid android so if the WiFi usage is very important to you i'd advise you to switch to another OS.
Thanks for your reply.
It is just on galaxy mini.
I use the same wifi on note 2 and galaxy S advanced.
There should be somthing wrong in driver or device settings.

I didn't mean all android handsets have this problem, but what i meant is that this exact problem only appears on some android handsets. I totally agree with you that it must be a driver issue but as long as i've searched the websites, only android os handsets suffer from this driver issue. You can search google and you will be amazed how many android users searching for a fix for this problem.

I already stated that i can fix it by restarting my router but that's not a solution especially when i have to do it every 2 hours or so.
I had this same problem with my Mini. It's a kernel problem. It solved when I upgraded to Gingerbread through Kies.

Even after upgrading to gingerbread the problem still exist unfortunately. The most annoying thing with this problem is that its not under warranty. I've sent my device to samsung branch in my city two times and their response was "The WiFi is working just fine". I don't care what problems appear in the product as long as the manufacturer covers them under warranty.
Do you have Dlink router?
Maybe it is a router issue, as my wife's Galaxy S Advance has the problem with the same Wifi. It never had such a problem with other routers.
(I have not tested thr mini with the other routers yet.)

WiFi drop on 5.1?

It's a couple of times i unlock my phone and i notice the wifi has disconnected, then it riconnects itself. It also happened at first flash of 5.1, right after the setup wizard.
Any known WiFi drops bugs on 5.1?
I am using Cataclysm + EX.
I am not able to provide any adb logcat because it doesn't seem to happen all the times, sorry.
It's becoming a week known issue.
Seems to be a fault in the Wi-Fi settings where the phone is not keeping the Wi-Fi on when the phone sleeps (even though it's set to do that).
I would go back to an older version (5.0.1) until these retards rectify.
I'm having the same problem.
Anyone got a solution yet?
Bump.
The real issue (at least for me) is that when the phone sleeps and the wifi drops, it enables data network, and I have not unlimited data plan...
How is possible nobody is talking about that wifi behavior ?!
Happened once or twice but that's it.
Someone on G+ that had our same issue said he turned off automatic wifi freq (wifi > advanced) and the drop never happened again.. yet.
That's not a proper fix but better than nothing.

I think the solution is "use vibrate mode on". Get your device to vibrate mod and test it.

I usually use the phone in vibrate mode, but today I brought the device to the audio mode and Wi-Fi started to disable when i turn off screen.

Samsung s8/s8+ wi-fi nougat fix !!! (aka s7)

just like in s7 nougat
nougat wi-fi fix (losing connection & reconnect) 5Ghz band
Settings > Location > Improve Accuracy > Bluetooth Scanning : Turn it off
also disable "smart network switch" from
connection-wifi-advance-smart network switch Turn it off
That's good for battery life?

I did not see so much difference but it's a thing that you not use.....
what does it fix? which wifi problems?
Actually I do use Smart Network switch, I switches between LTE and Wi-Fi. I also keep LTE alive in the background for faster switching.
If that is turned OFF - I get periods of "no data" usually when I am trying to navigate and the device had locked on some "Xfinity wifi " as that is a very common open wifi.
I am and most of us are "not paying LTE so we don't use it" - This feature allows for better Network switch and less periods of No-Data, IMHO

My device is a non branded edge 7, which also uses both of them simultaneously - that's a thing of beauty

That must be a regional issue. My S7e never lost a wireless connection or had problems moving between cellular and Wi-Fi. Regardless, both the radio h/w and s/w are going to be new on the S8 so things that affected previous phones aren't likely to affect it. We'll probably getting a totally different set of new issues and quirks.

As in you're in the EU and I'm the U.S. and haven't experienced what you're reporting. I also don't remember seeing chronic worldwide wireless issues on the S7e forum. So it doesn't seem like whatever the problem you're referencing is affected all S7e owners equally. And it certainly won't affect S8 owners because the radio h/w and accompanying s/w is new.

Seems like no matter what I turn off, wifi still toggles automatically, I've wiped cache, booted into safe mode, factory reset, took away permissions to system settings.
Is there a way to trace what is commanding wifi to toggle?
Maybe if I can trace it and will be able to disable it
I see that no apps have requested this through the "wifi control history"
I knew I couldn't be the only one experiencing this, so I'm glad there is at least discussion about it.
I made a related thread in the Q&A this morning before I found this thread.
I'm on the T-Mobile S8, and I do connect to a 5Ghz band. Thankfully I don't use smart network switch nor do I want my device scanning for bluetooth when I have bluetooth disabled (they say it's for "location accuracy", but it's actually for ad services).
I only disabled bluetooth scanning when bluetooth is off a few minutes before finding this thread, so I'll report back if wifi continues to drop in the coming days.

Same for me. Did you install some software update?
Well I've been messing around with this issue for hours and hours. The only solution is to set my routers to 2.4ghz because 5ghz makes this phone go crazy.
Just my 5 cents -> do this or stop wasting time until either Sammy releases a fix (doubtful) or root + custom ROMs start appearing (more likely) so a specific Dev fixes the problem.
This much money and I haveto change MY other equip to have it working.
Bah!

For those of you that are losing Wi-Fi connection and reconnecting, go into your router configuration and change the channel until you find the channel that is most reliable in your area. That's usually the main cause most of the time for disconnect issues. Change your 5Ghz channel and you most likely will find one that works fine. If the router is in "auto channel select" mode, take it out of auto and set a channel manually until you find the channel that works for your area.

Network Connection Failed Error - Note 8

Hey everyone, i have been having this annoying error/pop-up/notification that has been bothering me since i got the Note 8. Everytime i turn on the screen to unlock it, i get the "Network connection failed" message.
Now, this happens, when i have cell signal at full bars, LTE or Wi-Fi and at all different locations. I tried resetting the phone, adding the apps without any sort of backup, deleting apps, switching my carriers APN, I tried replacing the phone but it always comes back.
I tried contacting Samsung but they are clueless as to what i am taking about.
Does anyone have any suggestions into how i could proceed to fix this, or is anyone aware of what the problem is?
Who is your carrier?

Same issue
I have this same issue - annoying but no negative affects...
Verizon is my carrier - I am not so sure this is a carrier issue. In fact, not sure how someone with so little information can definitively say it is a carrier issue...More will report this issue too!
I have the same issue. Verizon
I believe this has something to do with the aggressiveness of power management sleeping apps...see if you still get the error after switching mobile data always on in developers options...I had to switch some of apps off in power saving mode as well because of the aggressiveness...it could be something else though...just an idea
Same problem here I have a Qualcomm carrier free note 8 using it on T-Mobile. It's driving me crazy
Note 8 - T-Mobile
I have just recently encountered this error.
Drives me crazy as well.
This feels like an application issue. I am obviously not certain. Going to do some digging.
If I find a solution, I will report it here.
I think it has to do with download booster.
Same Issue 11-9-17
Has anyone found a solution for this? I'm also having this issue as of 11-9-17. Have tried enabling/disabling download booster, enabling/disabling mobile data always on and have tried a few network resets with Verizon Tech Coach.
I got all the way up to Tier 2 and every person I spoke to agrees this is a weird issue they haven't seen before. Mine seems to come and go. Sometimes I can get hit with the pop-up every time I unlock, other times it'll behave fine for hours then start up again for a little bit then stop. Thankfully there is no impact to operation, but still annoying.
Anyone figure this out...it is driving me crazy.
this is a combination of power saving and the "show nearby locations" in the phone app being active.
can turn off either and issue should disappear.
I have this happening on my s8. Haven't figured out which app/service is causing it but I killed a bunch and the error went away. It's likely one of the hundred background Samsung services. I'll try to narrow it down.
same for me

I also have Verizon. It used to happen on my Nexus 6P and now Pixel 2. If I ever figure out which app, I'll let you know.
Mine randomly stopped about 2 weeks ago. I know there have been a couple updates since my post so I'm not 100% sure if those fixed or if it was something else. Still a mystery as far as I'm concerned.

This seemed to work but just now saw the error again when I unlocked my phone. I turned "show nearby locations" in the phone app back on, will look into power save options next.
I've had this problem for probably close to a year and I'm really getting tired of it, even though it's just a nuisance.
I went into settings<connections<more connection settings<turned off nearby device scanning and then reset network connections which got rid of the notification on the bottom of the screen. I'm sure it'll keep popping up but for now that's what worked for me
Is there a solution for this yet? Is there any way to disable the message? Every time I change from WiFi to Mobile or vice-versa, I have to deal with this for the next 10 min or so. I have tried all the fixes mentioned here.
Solution
Install the app Toast Service from the Playstore. This will run in the background and show you which app is causing the problem. Mine was Hikvision. As soon as the error arrives you will see under notifications when you pull down from the top which app is causing the message. Hope this helps all.

Xtrons PX6 unable to connect to wi-fi hotspot

Hello everyone,
I'm having a problem with Xtrons PQ89UNVIP – MTCE PX6 unit running on Android 9 and Hal9k Mod V4 with all OTA-Updates in a Golf Mk6.
Earlier, this unit occasionally had some difficulties connecting to the hotspot from any phone (tested with various devices) shortly after starting the car, especially during hot weather. Usually a reboot helped and after that it connected to my hotspot normally. I complained to Xtrons about it and got a new wi-fi antenna from them, but swapping it didn't solve my problem. Not feeling like sending the whole device back, I decided to accept it and live with it, as it was not a big problem for me because it occurred quite rarely.
However, a few days ago the issue escalated, the head unit does not want to connect to the hotspot from my phone at all. It sees the device's network, makes an attempt to connect to it, but it fails. At first glance it looks exactly the same as the problem I had before (continuous Connecting -> Saved, see the video below), except that a reboot doesn't help, the weather/temperature doesn't matter, and it connects normally to hotspots from other phones. I also tried to do it in Safe mode.
My phone is a 3-week-old OnePlus Nord 2 5G with Android 11. Until the last few days, the hotspot worked perfectly. I tried changing the name and password of the hotspot, resetted network settings completely on both devices, tried both 2,4 and 5 GHz band and various other options. Once shortly after renaming the hotspot, it was able to connect to it, but a few seconds later the connection was dropped. Other devices can normally connect to the hotspot from my phone.
Video showing the issue:
Before I restore the device to factory settings and have to install and set everything up again (which doesn't guarantee me a solution either), I would like to know if anyone has an idea what else I could do to fix this.
I would be very grateful for any willingness to help, I am desperate because this unit without internet connection loses most of its functions I used
Greetings,
Bansuj
