Can anyone point me in the right direction for an unboxing movie.... or list the box contence.
Mine is coming on Monday but I just can’t wait.
To be entirely honest I still can't believe that "apparently many people SAY" they have one and yet I can't find an unboxing video for it.
http://www.msmobilenews.com/windows-mobile/reviews/htc-touch-cruise-review.html
There seems to be an unboxing but this (I’m hoping) is the demo pre-release version I’m guessing the massive tell - tell sign being the hole on the back.
I've recorded my box on video. It's being processed by YouTube right now, title "HTC Touch Cruise Unboxing". It was taken with my own TC, two things to note: it's obviously the unboxing "preview" you wanted, and you can also see the awful frame rate on this thing...
Oh yeah, never mind what I'm saying, just blabbering
It’s alright mate, thanks. its much appreciated.
btw can you quickly list the contense of the actually retail unboxing? And if possible the link to your you tube video?
Thank you.
YouTube video just in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuM_-yalUpo
It's actually just a preview of the box, not so much to see.
Contents:
The HTC Touch Cruise itself
Good manual
Screen protector
Small pouch + extra stylus
Battery
Charger
USB Cable
2 CD's (1 for extra software like TomTom, 1 for drivers and Windows moblie and such (I guess, didn't check really))
Quick Start guide
Some extra flyers (some from HTC, TomTom, local resellers)
I think that pretty much sums it up
Ok cool, thank you so much. if u were a woman and in front of me I would have no problems in hugging you with glee lol.
I was really just hooked about the case, well more like slightly worried as all the other touch devices have a case of some sort.
Anyway if it is not too much trouble is the case like the one from the first touch or the one from the touch dual.
Once again, Thank you.
I’ve just seen it. Thank you so much it was only 44 seconds but now I REALLY can't wait until Monday.
I have no clue whether it resembles the Touch (Dual) boxes.
You're welcome, and I'm NOT a woman, so a pat on the shoulder should suffice
I understand how it feels having to wait for the ultimate package Been there lately
Trust me, it's worth waiting for, especially if HTC is going to release the GPU drivers, then the speed thing would be solved too...
lol well a pat it is then...
ive had to put up with the eten glofiish x800 it s was OK and that about it. good screen.
i meant case as in its protective pouch btw but ive seen a few pics now. unless the one i saw was an after market one.
anyway thank you so much you've provided a real service
really have made my day
once again thanks.
You're welcome. The pouch is nothing compared to what you see online, its just a bag with a strap at the top to close it, like a garbage bag, but then smaller, containing your TC and in soft tissue
Sorry to hear bout the X800, I wonder where everyone gets the money to buy *multiple* pda's... (and phone and gps i know )
Meh. Well the x800 was a bit on an experiment for the IT department I work in. unheard of going for something so untested but someone has got to test it. I don’t know what goes on behind the scenes that made them say "I want my employees to work with sheer crap" but it happened, anyway I'm giving it back soon, like I said it was ok, a bit like paper, you use it every day but you never truly take any notice of it.
Ye as I suspected the one I saw was an aftermarket one, looks like HTC just took it off the touch dual. It’s slightly disappointing I was looking to have a rubberized case like the one from the touch.
Yeah, unfortunately, the TC comes shipped with a very limited set of accesoiries, in contrast with previous devices, for that price!!

You’re absolutely right and it’s appalling.
I know it’s a really good device but I still feel like for my money there should be more production value.
Oh and Tracy and matt's blog has now got an unboxing of the pre-release version... it seems funny that it only comes out now as people are receiving their devices.
Hi all!
I just wanted to let the ROM cookers here know that i will no longer test newly cooked ROM's.
This is because i'm typing this on my new Touch Pro 2. I just got it 2 days and its amazing. My old Vox went to my dad, he just needs a stable and Dutch ROM. So I've installed the NeoRose ROM on it.
Everybody best of luck in enhancing your Vox I'm off to the Rhodium part of this forum.
Greetz,
FeareX
i'm also going to buy me a touch pro 2
farewell FeareX..
will be part someday
If someone has doubt about buying a TP2, i can give info.
All i can say now is that it works amazingly. It's extremely fast compared to the Vox. The keyboard is amazing. And since i love to go on the internet on my phone, nothing can beat this phone.
BTW, i took some pictures today, and they where very good. I actually was very surprised by the results. The images are very sharp.
Grtz,

I am jealous
I am jealous too. How about audio reproduction - specifically through speakers considering it does not have external stereo speakers.
It's like holding my breath waiting for this unlocker for the Verizon TP2!!!! I know that the people working on this are extremely talented and that not anyone can do this. I'm also sure its not as simple as baking cookies so I'm grateful as hell. I'm just sooooo sick of windows 6.1. Its truely ugly! Coming from an iPhone it looks like I took a time machine back to the 80's and got a celli....
um..Wah?
I fail to see how you find it ugly, and how you find the iphone so sexy. The iphone look is a few nice transitions and some rounded edges, nothing flashy. Now, with a simple background .cab this device can look pretty sharp. You can't even to that on the iphone till you jailbreak it? Which in the end is a crappy business, no nice 3.0 jailbreak even available yet...i stick with my WinMo and Slide out keyboard, and WVGA screen over that iphone anyday

I agree! This phone is beautiful! And HTC has done all that they can to cover up as much of 6.1 as they possibly could but they didn't get it all. Even the 6.5 lock screen is better than 6.1's. It's just a more attractive OS. Things just don't look the same or as good in 6.1. I love the screen and keyboard on the TP2 though! Nothing I've tried is better so far.
I love my TP2 as well - but I don't need to make things up about the iPhone to feel better.
The iPhone has an extremely easy jailbreak for 3.0+.
That said - I like the features of the TP2 more. Althought I admit the screen keyboard on the iPhone grew on me quickly as being amazingly easy to use....

Hi I have noticed that you can get a tg01 in uk for £150 on orange payg which seems really cheap and was wondering what people thought about it?
So from what I have seen tg01 has better processor and bigger screen but the phone is too big for many people as the screen is big plus it has a thick edge as well.
I supose what I would like to know is can the tg01 do any of the following?
can a new rom be loaded?
can touch flow or xperia panels be put on it?
is the touch screen good quality? is it sensitive enough?
is the battery life any good?
is the gps good?
can android be put on it?
anything else i need to know?
on another not I'm always looking for the coolest devices are there any known coming out which are better than hd2? I like the idea of milestone 2 if its real, has htc got anything coming?
custom rom = not as yet
xperia2 panels = yes
i find touchscreen very responsive best with stylus but finger touch good too
battery life depends on what you are doing mine lasts 2 days for very light use, usual use i would say needs a charge every day and if like me use fpsece alot then you will hate the battery but its comparable to most similar devices and you can always get a bigger mugen battery.
havent used gps
no android as of yet
sound quality in calls is extreemly rubbish and rintone ect very quite and srswow dont work properly, no tv out, stupid headphone connector had to buy bluetooth headphones. camera is worse then iphone
its worth £150 but depending on your budget i would go for a hd2 wish i had been more patient. as for anything new as always there will be new phones later in the year and some good ones when windows mobile 7 comes out.
dont let me put you off as i do like my tg01 and it has potential if it gets cracked for cooked roms and the expected update improves sound quality
Hi thanks for that,
I think it's prob best i just be patient and stick with my hd for now. I very much like the idea of a bigger screen and faster processor but I have become accustomed to constant rom upgrades which I might miss on the tg01.
Still at £150 just seems such a good deal. Can it be unlocked easily?
Also I think i remember seeing tf3d as a pannel for the x1 if i did get the tg01 and put x2 panels on it can tf3d be a panel?
unlocking is the usual £10 code from ebay ect,
people are getting sense2.5 from hd2 working on tg01 which im goning to try later, EDIT yes to tf3d and there are a few tweaks that improve it alot like better keyboards ect.
anyway for £150 with no contract ect i would be happy with it as its cheap enough to get a better phone when winmmo 7 comes out at the end of the year.
So I'm really interested in a Note 10.1 because I've always wanted a tablet with a proper stylus. There are however a few questions I want to ask before I commit to buying one.
First, how is the build quality of it? I've read quite a few reviews where they say the build quality is not that good? What's your experience of it? Is it as bad as the reviewers say?
Second, How is Touchwiz? I've herd quiet a few complaints that it cripples the majority of Samsung's products and the Note 10.1 is no exception.
Finally, and probably the most important thing for me, is the S-Pen. How is that? I've seen a few videos on YouTube displaying it and it does look good but what are your views about it? Have you come across any problems with it?
Also are there any other problems you've had? Browsing the Q&A forum, it does appear to be quite problem prone.

First: Build qualit may not be super deluxe style but its good, abit slippery though so watch out.
Second: TW isnt that bad, its not perfect (What you define as perfect is totally up to you) , but it works.
Finally: S-Pen is wonderful. I always seem to press the button on the pen, it annoys me like hell sometimes. Responsive and pretty fast. Ive noticed some problems on JB but its not pen related i guess.. The text Im writing dissapears too fast and it starts with a capital letter for some reason, Ive to type pretty fast.
Besides that, abit too lowres screen and OK camera its a superb tablet.

Its not an aluminium chassis... but then everyone complained when the GalaxyS2 came out that "the back is all plastic? no aluminium? cheap and tacky shoddy workmanship samsung" etc etc.
I've had my S2 for over a year, and its as sturdy as it ever was. Aluminium is solid, and its heavy, and it is certainly not a necessity. The build of the note so far (for me, anyway) has been absolutely fine. no give, no creaking.
I havent even noticed touchwiz really. Seems just like every other touch system. You swipe to change pages. Press apps, apps open. It works.
The S-Pen is the main reason I bought this tablet, and so far it seems to do the job just fine. Much easier than using the finger-thick stylus on the ipad (my previous tablet). If you want a wacom digitiser in your tablet pc, then there is really no other choice.
Depends what you want a tablet for really. I wanted one I could use for artwork, and the Note is the best for that.
If you just want to browse and play games, I'd probably say to get a Nexus 10.
You say you want a proper stylus though, and for the price theres no contest. I believe theres a samsung pro tablet that runs windows, with a stylus etc (someone told me it was an alternative option when I was looking at the note), but it was over £600 in the UK, which is almost 3x the price of the Note here.

I want it for note taking and a bit of sketching so a stylus is a nessesity. Tried a stylus on my iPad 2 but it was awful and unaccurate.

Why, It outlines what we're referring too...
As for the note, It has good build quality, I've no problem on the 4 I bought, 1 for me, 1 for brother and a couple for friends... All grey and no creaking... You'll probably put it in a folder case anyway for safety and ease of carrying.
S-pen works great, not the best artist but I had the capacitive stylus and the s-pen is so far out of that ballpark its embarrassing to capacitive stylii everywhere...
Screen is actually quite good for colours, it looks like samsung really tweaked the graphics to get the best out of their hardware. Apparently there can be lightbleed on the white tab but can't say I've noticed any problem on my grey one....
Up to you if you want to get the 3g or wifi-only tab, 3g works quite well and being able to make phone calls from my note 10.1 is just awesome, add to that the bluetooth stylus and its really a good combo, no more star trek wannabe with a bluetooth headset hanging off my ear and the stylus is really no different than having that retro handset that seems to be the rage atm.... Better really as you can put it in your pocket like a pen... Also, no embarrasing conversations with the world as your audience....
Can have up to a 64gb sd card to save all you wonderful creations, music, videos and books (work files too if you have any room left)...
I have the 32gb internal 3g variant. That gives a whopping 96gb of storage.... Almost enough but I still push the boundaries of wanting more....
Having the floating apps are good when you need to be able to do 2 things at once, at this point I haven't seen any other tablet that multitasks..
I like it and have no regrets on this purchase... Best out there atm...
Thanks for the info! I've decided to take the plunge and get one. Got the grey Wifi 16GB version and should arrive tomorrow! Looking forward to using it!
Just an FYI - if you already have a wacom tablet, I have the bamboo, you may be able to use the pen from it on your note 10.1 too... This is good if you prefer the feel of a normal pen/pencil over the short square pen that's supplied.... There's nothing wrong with it but I personally prefer the feel of the bluetooth stylus because it is more like a pen...
And if you get a case it may be an idea to look at getting something that can store a wacom pen, in case you get one later...
And trust me, you'll love the note....
The build quality is good in the sense that it's all held together and it hasn't fallen apart on anyone yet in the 4 months that it has been out. Okay.
The build quality is not good in the sense that the chassis has flex and it groans when picking it up. The underside is also flexible plastic. It doesn't feel like a solid slab like the ipad and therefore inspire the same confidence in handling it.
But really, it doesn't matter because the pen input makes this tablet. If you need it then you won't mind the build quality.
Stick it in a good case and you won't care whether it's made of plastic or rubber.
Recommend any good ones? I prefer the folio cases.

There are a couple threads around discussing cases.
Poetic has a decent line. You may want to get a case that allows portrait as well as landscape support, but that is up to you. Personally if I need portrait, I'll just hold the damn thing.
Got mine just the other day. I too was a little concerned about the build quality but also the screen, however it's fine in my opinion, comparable to the S2/S3 phones, plastic but solid enough, I get no creaks at all. I find the screen bright and sharp, no problems here at all.
I personally don't judge a table or any other device on the launcher as you can change and personalize that, I am happy with touchwiz though, its smooth and just works.
S - pen seems fine to me, there can be a little lag when you are moving quickly across the screen but you shouldn't really need to do that anyway, I find it very accurate and very usable.
I havent yet found any problems with the device as stock, although I had a cooked ROM in place about 30 mins after I got it home. If you can pickup one of these on a cashback offer you can get it for as little as £260-280, total bargain in my opinion.
Well I just got it today and so far it's awesome. That S-pen really is the best feature of it. Are there any essential apps I need? Also when is Jelly Bean for it going to be out in the UK? I've read a few posts but can't find a definitive answer.

As what other had said, just slip your GN to a solid and/or firm casing and it will becomes firm - exactly the same thing you will do with those aluminum-made tablets...
The screen resolution is not the same with an iPad or even Nexus 10 but it is not really that bad... it is decently watchable and usable, again, suitable for its purpose...
And the S pen functionality is simply the best in the market...
