I did somethinng real stupid!!! - HTC Sensation

So I Was Replacing My Invisible Shield And I Thought It Be Cool To Put A Hairdryer To The Screen... (That Way All The Humidity And Micro Bubbles Would Go Away) And When I Went To unlock The Phone.. It Lost Its Sesitivity... So I Turned It Off.... Tried Turning It On... And Smh.. It Shows "HTC" Then Goes From White To Black...And Has A Big ASS Screen Bleed Now.. Will Warrenty Cover THis?? Or Is Therte Away Around THis..........????
Helpppppppppppp!!

Check ebay for a new display kit.

what you mean exactly? Your display is broken or what? dont understand what you mead with your display has bleed on it
Prove with some photo please

Might need to replace the digitizer. Try finding out if its covered under the warranty. Don't tell them the truth, just tell them that you woke up after leaving it charged and that when you touch the phone it had restarted and that it was hot and that's what happens.

And we wonder why companies are getting harder and harder on folks who need to do legitimate exchanges. Be honest or just buy a digitizer. Dishonesty is what got this country where it is now!

Agreed. Warranties are for product defects....not owner gray matter defects

Could it be he needs to replace the lcd instead of the digitizer? He said the screen was bleeding.

So what is the moral of the story? HAIR DRYERS + LCD SCREENS = ARE YOU FLIPPING CRAZY! Enough said and don't lie to them...

Can't say I disagree with this but I recommend telling the truth... and that truth is:
1. He turned it on.
2. It doesn't work.
3. Warranty replacement please.

(Im Going To Post Some pics A Lil Later im @ Work) Well Today Is Day 2 And The Phone Shows An Image But Very Very Dim... Idk If I Messed Up The Sensor... Did I Mention I Put The Hair dryer On High?... Ive Just Seen How The Guys At the Mall That Put The Zagg Protectors they Use Hair Dryers And It Works Fine.. But Yea Its Kinda Dim... i Can Barely See, And For Those Who Have Sensation.. (Im Assuming Everyone.)...Theres 2 White Stickers behind The Phone (the Ones That If You Wet It, It Gets Red) Theres One At The Bottom Right Corner.. And I Think While I Was Putting The Screen Protector I Wet It... Cuz Its Red... Do u Think It'll Mess Up the Warrenty?

Seriously, why on EARTH did you put a hair dryer to your phone... No offence, but it's your own fault. This is why it's so hard to get legit replacements and why insurance costs a fortune.
This is why we can't have nice things!

I've changed many screens and digitisers, I'ts common ground to use a hairdryer to heat the screen to warm up the glue before you pull it apart! Honestly you must have been heating it for a good 10-15 minutes man,Next time do it in 1 min spurts.

Is there a reason why you have to capitalize every single word? It makes your posts hard to read.
Getting the stickers wet is very bad, honestly I think that your chances of getting it RMA'd are pretty slim. You can try replacing the screen if you're handy with that kind of stuff but a new lcd won't be cheap.

Yea if u leave the sticker red they wont replace it. And there are ways to change it back to white, I'm not going to tell u how but if u want to know look it up, reason I'm not telling is cuz how do I no u didn't drop it in water. And about the screen y n the hell would u have it on high? U do no that hairdriers get hot right, and heat can F**k things up right. O n next time heat the screen protector up first (and not while on the phone) then apply it to the screen, and rub the air bubbles out.

you could try telling the service center that it worked fine for a week but then the screen started bleeding.

Fuze Bezel Coming Off... I would peel it off but...

So it appears that under the front bezel of the Fuze that has the ATT logo in the upper left hand corner can peel off. But there is a connector at the bottom of it...
Does anyone know what this does? Is it using the bezel as an antenna? My bezel is scratched and the screen underneath is fine. What can I do?
Can you upload a pic, my AT&T symbol is in the upper right hand corner

You are right I meant the right. Now after fixing it back up the touch screen no longer works. Freaking weak.
Can u upload some pictures please ?
So be warned the bezel is actually part of the touch screen and opening it breaks the touch screen by releasing the air pocket between the bezel and the screen. It is going back to att.
I wish someone would have told ME that before I continued. Anyone know of a fix or do they have to replace the whole touch screen?
You mean the whole plastic piece on the front? Yeah that is called the digitizer and senses touch. The actual LCD itself can't sense touch.
dude.... picture(s)
I'm sorry this may not be the nicest thing to say but I read this whole thread and all I can say is...
"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING TRYING TO PEEL THINGS OFF WITHOUT READING FIRST!?!?!?!?!?"
You see this part that "appears" it can be peeled off. Yes, it can. You know why? BECAUSE IT'S GLUED ON!! You peeled off your digitizer and now your Touch Screen doesn't work?
Anybody want to take any guesses as to why it no longer works?
Sigh... I'm done. Rant over... I'm going to bed... I've had a long ****ty day and sorry you had to be the victim but that's just life...

Way to be a prick because you had a bad day! I was just trying to warn others not to do it. I was trying to take off the screen protector and as soon as the "digitizers' seal was broken the touch screen stopped working. I know that now.
Why wouldn't you want others to be warned?
Can anyone say A...S...S...H...O...L...E.??
Be very careful about the way you approach AT&T about replacing it. Since you peeled it off, they may not repair it if it looks like you damaged it.
I would say you left it in your car's front seat over night while staying over at your gf's house, and in the morning you found it like that.
Then ask questions about if they have had many of these problems with these phones and if there is a way you can get a different phone...
... they'll probably won't give you a different phone, but probably give you a replacement.
If you tell them you peeled it off, they'll charge you full price for a replacement.

dissasembling an HTC inspire- stuff behind screen!

wondering if anyone has ever dissasembled thier inspire before....if its hard, tricky, details.
wierd thing, i dropped my phone yesterday, as it was falling i fumbled for it, smacked it up agains the wall in my house. Bits of drywall got wedged between the screen and the body of the phone, as i was trying to get it out with a thin knife, some of it dropped down inside the phone. i want to get it out because i have a feeling it will ende up making white dust in my screen.
another reason id like to get it open is to see if i can get the bottom right coner of the phone re-secured. its loose and floats up and down.

DO NOT DO THIS! Not that you don't have the ability to do so...But because this phone has not been on the market for a year yet. the screen coming up is a defect. Get it replaced.
EDIT: A EXTREMELY slight movement is normal. It has to give to be stable. It's kind of the same concept behind a wooden roller coaster. Some, very minor flex is required, as it actually supplies more structural integrity. Now...If you had a knife under the screen, that is far too much flex, and should in fact be replaced.

lol i think you are misunderstanding me, i was just trying to scrape the drywall from the little gap between the body and the screen on the left side fo the phone, i wasnt prying under it. the bottom right corner is something seperate. its not coming completely apart but it flexes noticeable up and down and make the screen turn funny colors there. ive read that its a common thing, but its not bad enough for me to want to send my phone in for replacement. i didnt get it from at&t

Funny my screen "flexes" on the bottom right corner. It really bugs me, its stupid, but I wish I could fix it. It pops up, then I push it down. It's stays for less than 10min and pops back up. I'm not sure if its worth the hassle to call HTC.

I used a clamp on mine last night. Placed a cloth between it and the phone and let the clamp do its thing for about 10 hours before taking it off this morning. I can see and tell a noticeable improvement. No flex. But only time will tell if this did the trick or not. So far after 3 hours it has not come up at the corner.

will HTC really replace the phone over this corner issue? i dont think im going to be able to get the drywall out of my phone and its really bugging me, its wedged in theere HARD. hard enought to make the body of the phone flex away from the side of the screen......and there some thin plastic layer between the phone body and the side of the screen.....which i have messed up by trying to scrape the drywall out with a knife. boo. phone works perfectly but i hate the cosmetic issues

Have other people been having the screen coming up problem? Mine is so severe that I can see light bleed on the bottom right hand corner. Wonder if it's covered by AT&T warranty
I just started having this same proble.I am TIIIIIIIRRRRRREEEDDDDD of ATT's crap though. I have been on the phone with them for 32 hrs in 38 days with now 4 different phones and I LOVE the Inspire. I am having the same issues now though where the screen is coming up and it's really really annoying. I mean REALLY annoying. I am thinking to just put an otter box defender on it and it will be fine? Can anyone confirm that the defender will keep the screen in place or any case for that matter?
I bought a silicon cover for $2 shipped off ebay and I didn't notice this issue until I just checked after reading this thread. The cover adds some serious bulk to the phone, but kept it from breaking when I dropped it from upper chest level on concrete (I'm 5'11"... and I swiped too far and caught the edge with my thumb. I almost cried).
P.S. It still hit hard enough to gouge the metal through the thick silicon

I'm in some serious trouble!!! My screen stopped working!!

Hey guys,
I was at work playing a mkv file in my car then I cool myself off by dripping water on me and I accidentally drip a little bit on the screen I suddenly notice my screen lowering the volume by itself and I quickly dried it off. Afterwards, I notice the screen brightest on the left side (facing up) started flickering I immediately knew there was going to be serious issues. I turned off the phone, checked the casing for any drippings and found no water drips inside the casing. I turned on the phone to find a quick pixelated screen for a quick season then booted to the HTC theme..
The phone booted to the home screen that's when the screen started to flicker similar to a computer's VGA, DVI or HDMI cable is loose in the back every pixel color on the screen starts flashing in colors. The screen turned pink then stopped working..
Here's the good news: I'm covered with tmobiles premium insurance and HTC's insurance...
Here's the bad news: I s-off, rooted and flashed a rom 12hrs ago..
Technically speaking, I'm screwed because I can't get the screen to function to revert back the changes and Idk what to do.. If you've any thoughts or ideas to help me fix this issue please I'll gladly appreciate.
There is 2 real options.
One is repair the screen all though somehow I don't think the water has caused the problem, modern mobile devices can usually withstand a small amount of water including light rain and maybe a light splash of liquid. They are all tested for this kind of thing. It sounds like something physical as I'm fairly sure it wont be the ROM to blame, so by this you should be able to claim on the insurance as its a physical defect and would of happened regardless of flashing etc. I can't be sure how successful you'll be with this though, its probably best to go to the HTC insurance for this as tmobile with blow it off as quick as possible.
The other option is not advised and is classed as insurance fraud which is highly illegal there for won't be putting it down in writing due to not wanting to upset the admins, mods and rules of the forum. But I'm sure you all know what the procedure is.
Hope this helps though bud. Good luck.
After fully inspecting the case and the phone itself.. I just realized the little drip of water could've made its way inside the phone small gap after noticing something white stuck in there..
I gotta have the idea that if the screen doesn't work then they can't see what's inside it right? lol.. I'm going to discharge the phone and let it dry then pray it works so I can revert the changes then make a claim.

Check your insurance policy, accidental damage might be covered. Surely they can't make all claims void if the device software has been modified. In my eyes HTC actively encourages it.

HTC won't blow me off despite it being rooted and having a different rom? I know tmobile would blow me off if they found out I rooted the damn thing.. Maybe idk honestly.. I could smash it to pieces and say I dropped in a 3 story building still be covered (I asked this question before purchasing the insurance haha)..

The best option is probably let the device dry off. Reboot it in a few hours, assess the damage if any, if its fixable or fine go for that, if its beyond fixing then take it as far as you see fit mate
Try drying your phone out on a windowsill or somewhere else warm, with the back case off and the battery out for a few hours, then give the phone a try again.
If that doesnt work then I suggest following RoganTheTwat's advice! You should be ok with the root situation...

Thanks RoganTheTwat,
I'm definitely going to do that and if not then claim it with tmobile or HTC! I hope I get more opinions and knowledge like yours.
If nothing helps,DO NOT drive over it, and DO NOT claim accidental damage. If you do, you would commit fraud and would take minuscule amount of money from their HUGE profits, which they get by ripping off customers. So DO NOT do anything like that mate.
I would say Take battery off and the cover then try to keep the phone in a warm dry environment
very important to keep battery out and phone off since there is a sign of possible water damage.
the drying part you can keep it in a zip lock bag of rice it will help absorbing moisture and water.
or "Carefully with this one" wrap it up with cotton cloth and apply Warm air by a hair dryer( Do NOT set it on HOT ) apply it randomly don't constraint on one area and make sure you keep distant.
let me how that work Good Luck

This was accidental damage I didn't purposely pour drips of water onto my phone because I wanted to know what will happen. There's no fraud under tmobile's policy if I claim it to be accidental or anything else.. I'm paying $7mo for premium insurance.

Finally, someone with some sense...Moisture will get into that thing like its no ones business if you let it.
If the rice doesnt work, try something stronger. You can get stuff at the grocery store that is meant for drying out moist rooms. I use it to keep the bathroom dry.

[Q] question about dust and fingerprint under screen??

ok guys im back with a g2x.. had a nexus s there for awhile. anyways i trade my nexus s for the g2x in perfect shape but i noticed under the screen has 1 spec of dust and what looks like to be a few fingerprints or something. not sure what it is but i dont think this phone has been taken apart. is there away i can find out? the good thing is that this phone doesnt really have any screen bleeding which is awesome. the guy said he had this phone for 4 month and he was an older guy that didnt seem like he knew a lot about phones. lol i will post pics and u can kinda see what im talking about.

well i was gonna have tmobile replace it but i dont know if it has ever been taken apart. the good thing is the phone has no screen bleeding lol
Are those scratches?!
No screen bleeding sounds like a custom job. If you get another one, it'll have it.... some worse then others. I've swapped a few and screen bleed has all varied. My original was the best but the GB updater killed it. The second replacement I sent back because the bleed was so bad. The third was a little worse then my original, but by then I had 2 tiny scratches... so it was a good trade off.
Dust and a fingerprint would have me swapping it out.
G2x - 2.3.7 CM7
Transformer - 3.2 Revolver OC/UV
Looks like scratches.
yeah it has a few good scratches going down the middle of the screen and u only see it when the screen is white. looks pretty bad thought and there are a lot of scratches underneath the screen. then in two corners it looks like a smug of a finger print and there is one piece of dust that stands out when the screen is white (like for a text message) it drives me nuts. tmobile said they will replace it but i dont want them charging me money if they find out the phone has been opened up to replace the screen. i never did it but whoever did failed so bad it wasnt even funny. i didnt noticed any of it until i was in a dark room. in the sun light i dont notice anything.

A factory phone would never have dust or fingerprints under the screen. The phone had to at the least have been taken apart and then carelessly handled before being put back together. When I tear down phones for repair I am extra careful about blowing out all dust and cleaning the inside of the screen (and try to never touch it).

Screen bleed cannot be fixed. It is an inherent design flaw of iPS displays. Some have it worse than others, but they all have it to some extent.
The only way to fix the smudges, etc. is to get a new digitizer and do a clean job of replacing the top part of the phone that the digitizer is attached to.
Specs of dust under the screen unfortunately seem to be an LG issue anyway, doesn't necessarily say the digitizer/glass has been replaced.
I bought my G2X brand new from T-Mobile, opened the box myself. And there's a piece of dust under the "back" touch button, at the top of the arrow. Bugs me now and then, but at least it's not on the main screen.

"HTC" Letters on Back

Just recently the "T" and the "C" on my HTC M8 rubbed off. They were a thin material glued on, and it appears the glue came loose. Both the "T" and the "C" came off at the same time as I ran my thumb over them. My phone wasn't unusually hot at the time.
I'm not sure if my phone got too hot too many times and loosened the glue, or the build quality just wasn't up to standard.
The Verizon store I bought this from was unable to warranty the phone, since this didn't hinder my use of the phone at all.
I've had the phone since April, and I've taken good care of it: no scratches or dents so far. I'm disappointed that the Verizon store won't replace or repair the phone.
Anyone else have this happen to them?
That's a hidden, added feature. The logo transforms to an engraving. No extra charge...

I laughed way too hard at that.
I probably wouldn't mind feeling the engraving on the back if it had always been that way, but the sudden change is bothersome.
had this happen to my friend and just laughed at him. For me after reading this thread i tore them off and actually liked it haha

If you're not joking, how'd you manage to get them off? I can't seem to get the "H" off to make it even.
hairdryer and needle; only tools i had available at the time. the hairdryer heats up enough to loosen adhesive but not to hot to damage anything.
Yup, my "C" fell off. No idea where it went. Bummer. I want to replace the entire back housing (I have a few small knicks and a very tiny dent), but it will probably just end up happening again.
EDIT: I used a hairdryer to take off the "H" and the "T" to make it more uniform. It does look a bit better since they are all removed now, but I like it better before. Adhering the "H" and the "T" wouldn't be a big deal because I still have them, but I have no idea where the "C" went to. I hope it doesn't hurt resale value when I try to sell it for the M9 next year.
Happened to me about a month ago. Definitely think it was hear related as it was the hottest time of the year. I used a black sharpie to color in where the letters use to be. You can't even really tell the difference.

Care to take a picture? Id like to see that. Thanks!
You can always call HTC. I know they replaced / repaired phones for the camera film issue and your still in the 6 month window for a free screen replacement. They might use that screen replacement warrenty to replace your letters instead. It's worth the call if it's bugging you enough. I got scratch on my screen that's bugging me that I'm going to try and use that warrenty on. Along with fixing the camera lenses. Had to scrape off the film and now it just looks nasty.

I should have a g2 here tomorrow I'll take a picture. Sending the m8 in for a screen repair.
I think it's awesome, when it happens to me I'm going to take advantage. Like those people with Toyotas that change it up to say Toy, or the Tacoma that they change to Taco.....

Don't go to the store.
Call - 1800-922-0204 - press 0, then 0 again - this brings you tova rep. And I don't see an issue getting refurb, worth a try anyway.
