Will there be a seperate forum once the US varient is launched or since the Optimistic and Thrill are completely identical will it all just remain here?
Sent from my Dell Streak using xda premium
As Thrill is just a name change I'm guessing they will keep it all here.
As the radio frequency and radio files are probably different I would think it would be a good idea to have separate forums as they do with the lg g2x vs lg optimus 2x

Nope. Same radio and frequency.
From LG USA about the P925:
Frequency
Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE; 850/900/1800/1900 MHz; Tri-band UMTS/HSPA+; 850/1900/2100 MHz

What's strange is my LGP920 is different
Has 900/1700/1900/2100 =/
Can run on T-Mobile USA's 3G network.
I think they'll just keep to the same forum. Not much will be changed anyway. Mine is different, but everything works the same
All I know is they have way too any models. P920, p920h, p925 and p929 and all of them have different frequency combos. So by u calling them the same are u reffering to a p925 and thrill. Or all the models.

most released specs look right, but ...
(I don't trust the carriers that much)
Yes, the Thrill is the US version of the Optimus3D.
Hell yeah.

Hi all
Just a quick question about the radio and flashing.
I understand that when a device is flashed to a custom ROM, that a radio is cooked in. (am I correct?)
Now my situation is this. I live in Australia, and am thinking of purchasing a 2nd hand Inspire 4G (AT&T) from the US, but from my research, due to the Inspire's (from AT&T) frequencies being 850/1900, this causes a small problem in Australia, where only telstra's NextG network operates on this band.
So in effect, I would be limited to NextG if I had this phone in Australia. the other major carrier here (optus) uses 900/2100.
Not a biggie right now as I use telstra nextg, but I may want to change.
So, question would be, when a phone is flashed, can I change the radio via the ROM, or is the frequencies a phone uses controlled by hardware?
thanks.
It's hardware mate.

thanks mate.
now to decide if its worth it.....can get one pretty cheap compared to here in Australia.
Check out tmobile I don't recall the bands they use but they sell the desire HD which is the Inspire 4G for them.
Edit: http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-desire-hd/#specs
Looks like it is 900/2100
So now the question is, what provider will you stick to in Australia

Yeah its a tough decision ...I'm going to be moving soon to study, and where I'm going both carriers are good, but telstra is prob the dearest. Where I currently live needs telstra and I get a sim card through work (I use my own phone though)
So I basically need a 850 phone for 3 months then I can use whatever .......
I just bought one and I am on Telstra. I also have a desire hd. Inspire in my opinion is the best choice.
Inspire can still run on Optus. My missus uses it occasionally with no issues.

So I've been looking at this phone for some time now and I'm currently on the LG thrill 4G and on Straight talk so here are my questions
1. Will it work on Straight talk 3g hspa like my thrill does ?
2. Worth switching ? It seems like the 2x has much better community and LG support and I'm a stickler on good community support
3. Speed ? Is it aosp or similar or is it running lg interface stock
4. Any other comments or things you'd like to tell me about the comparison of the two or anything of importance I should know

Get the t-mobile version sim and you should have 3G.
Yes the phone is good.
You can choose between aosp roms and LG roms. I use CM7.2
Okay thanks for letting me know unfortunate but I have the AT&T card is it absolutely necessary to switch?

I'd hold off until the galaxy s 3 :/.
This is a phone with amazing potential... but with no support from LG/nvidia, they crippled the hardware with lack of software.
Still good though, but unless you're getting it for cheap... I wouldn't do it.

Just ask them for the t mobile one...
It's necessary if the phone isn't unlocked, if it is unlocked you just won't get 3G.

I know the LG Thrill (p925) and LG Optimus 3D (p920) are fairly interchangeable, but to what extent? Do they have the exact same hardware? I've never had any trouble flashing 03D KDZ files on my Thrill, and everything for the 03D seems to work fine for me.
Sorry for cross-polinating between phone forums, but I figured the O3d crowd might know more since it's been around longer.
It's the same exact phone. Literally.

The only differences are with network stuff...
Like if you flash o3d stuff on to your thrill and you have att or something. Your data speeds may vary and stuff like that... that's all
I never get as fast data speeds when I flash a european based o3d rom on my att thrill

The phones themselves are exactly the same. The basebands are not.

so the o3d can get 4g speeds with the right basband?

Yeah. Flash V20P on it, and it'll work. Minus the fact that no one with an O3D has AT&T.

Well its not like they need it. Most 3G speeds in Europe blow h+ out of the water

Hi,
I know that the Rogers version of One X (700, 1,700, 2,100 MHz LTE) is different to the international One XL (800, 1,800, 2,600 MHz LTE), but on the Rogers website:
"If you are using a mobile phone that you have purchased outside of Canada or from a different carrier, you may be able to use it with Rogers as long as it is "unlocked"
Things to know:
1. Your device must be compatible with the Rogers network, which uses GSM, UMTS, HSPA and HSPA+ at 850 MHz and 1900 MHz, or LTE technology at 2100/2600 MHz AWS...

Does this mean that the international One XL will get LTE on Rogers?
Thanks in advance
yes, check coverage here http://www.rogers.com/web/Rogers.po...true&setLanguage=en&template=wireless_network
Based on Rogers 2600 MHz spectrum available in majority of sectors within Rogers LTE coverage areas; in sectors where 2600 MHz is not available, device will seamlessly fallback to 2100 MHz.

Why not get it directly from Rogers?
Rogers is only 16gb if I'm not mistaken?
We have a 32gb version...

Dropbox fixes that though. Load what you want in the cloud then pull it when you need or want it. I have the 16gb Telus version and have no issues with storage

32gb version makes more sense, to be honest... but just watch out with 2600Mhz... (reception wise) 'cos no current phones in Canada running on this LTE frequency as of yet, i believe... the LG Optimus G will be the first one http://redboard.rogers.com/tag/600-mhz-spectrum/
Dropbox only fixes it if your provider gives you a good chunk of data or you have unlimited...
I only get 2gb a month then get charged extra once I go over...
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium
I get 1gb per month and have never gone over. There are plenty of free hotspots depending on where you live (tim's, Starbucks, McDonald's) where you can pull files without having to use your data. I agree that the 32 makes more sense, but is it worth the cost of importing it just for the storage? Just my 2 cents.
