Okay, do you guys expect the new phone with the WP7 OS of HTC in the future? Though the HTC has publiced several models last year,it did not satify everyone who using the wp7 phone of htc.
With the mango edition releasing, several top equipment Manufacturers have cooperated with the MS company, especialy the Nokia. But I do not expect too much to Nokia, just take look at its new WP7 phones's specification, I feel so disappointed, I hope it go better!
Are you confident in the WP7?

The specs are really awesome, 1GB of RAM!!!
Also winmo & looks pretty slick, I was thiking of getting a android phone end of this year. But with this coming up I am not sure what to do. When are they going to come up with phones that can boot multiple OS system. (could have tried palm pre OS too )
The only other phone I heard coming up which would have better specs than this is the HTC scorpion.

Wait until it's time to upgrade, then ask again.
It makes zero sense to think about this now. A lot will change until the end of the year (lots of Android phones coming out and LG will not be the only company making WP7 devices).

And here is an HD 2 running WP 7. http://www.winmo.nl/windows-phone-7-series-draait-op-de-htc-hd2/
There are no phones currently out with WP 7, M$ is just testing chassis requirements . It seems the base requirement is going to be a 1 Ghz processor. By the time WP 7 is officially released in 3Q 2010, believe me there will be a bunch of phones from HTC, LG, and others loaded with or upgradable to WP7S.

That page you linked to is unlikely to be legit, there is no confirmation that the HD2 is able to run Windows Phone 7. In addition, I'm not sure they're going to offer upgrades, because phones like the Toshiba TG02 and K01 are launching with 6.5.3 with no indication of an upgrade.
i think
that hd2 will be your best mobile

The site is legit, it is the Dutch Engaget or Boy Genius Report, whether the pics are legit or not, who knows, but all the US rumor sites are picking up on them and the general concensus is that the HD 2 has the hardware to be upgradable
http://www.redmondpie.com/htc-hd2-to-get-windows-mobile-7-upgrade-9140128/
Yep, the HD2 specs will be able to handle WM7.
I completely agree that the specs meet the requirements, but the question is whether it will happen (either due to the efforts of HTC or the community here at XDA).
I don't mean to **** in your cheerios or anything. But that site says IF that phone is the RUMORED LG Apollo then it will probably have 1gig ram etc. All that article says for sure is that it's a WM7 phone. I won't hold my breath.
B4 winmo 7 came out, the choice was too obvious, get Android (unless you want break the promises you made to yourself and get an IPHONE). Now my contract finishes beginning of Q3, and I was thinking of getting HTC desire. Now back to confusion, LG 1GB vs HTC desire 512Mb, Android with 20,000 apps Vs Microsoft WiMo. Hopefully we will get more info about winmo 7 soon.
Motorola XT720 Motoroi.
That's what I'm going to buy as my next phone
Bye HD2...

Well now I hear that;s not true http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_hd2_doesnt_qualify_for_a_windows_phone_7_upgrade-news-1479.php
One main thing I was looking forward to in my new phone is high speed processor, 1Ghz. Motoroi is slow too I already have Xperia.
I am currently using HTC HD2 with SPB mobile shell which I love and am trying a HTC Trophy and got to same Im not liking the initial usage of it...
Have HTC put there "HTC Sense" feel about it, it doesnt feel like it...
Does anyone know of custom shells being developed for this phone?
Microsoft doesn't want people messing with the user interface so everyone gets the same wp7 experience. So no, sense isn't coming to the trophy.
The closest you're gonna get is htc hub.
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
One word: No.
I could eventually see 3rd party ui apps, but I doubt you'll ever see OEM ui's. Microsoft has made it pretty clear they are trying to keep wp7 pretty standard across the OEM's to facilitate updates reaching consumers consistently regardless of phone.
I really cant get on with Windows Phone 7, the user interface seems so unfinished... the home screen is just a load of tiles with a simple start menu type thing to the right...
I've got Win Mobile 6.5 and loving it but dont think I'm going to WinPhone7 next... Android for me I think...
I've had several Android phones in the past, latest being LG:GT540 most of them being 'pay as you go' or 'prepaid' phones.
I now own a $20 vodafone carrier qwerty phone (vodaf. 345)
I've just ordered a HTC 7 Trophy under contract with Vodafone eventhough there is non consumer services around WP7 available yet here in The Netherlands (Zune/XLive/Market) but Microsoft CEO Netherlands said it's WP7 'official' launch would be 1Q 2011.
That said, i think even with all the short comings this OS has lot's of potential.
Ofcourse a few 'this' and 'thats' are missing but this OS is brand new and Microsoft couldn't wait anylonger releasing wp7 seeing the enourmous gap with Google and Apple.
Updates are the way to go and WP7.0.1 coming early 2011.
If microsoft is as good with its development and services as it does with its xbox(live) (Though i'm a ps3 user) i have no doubt this OS can be a HUGE impact on future handsets.
In a year or so (my) htc would be rather old, but the OS etc hopefully a great opposition in the mobile industrie dominance.
I'll be patient, thank god ChevronWP7 got somethings in motion at Microsoft.
I currently have a Pre 2 which in itself is a fantastic phone has alot of cool things going for it. thing is im a bit of an app geek really didnt release until i went to webOS with limited number of apps.
I am very short on cash and am tied down to a contract for another 20 months after firstly upgrading and selling my phone to get a pre. Now i wanna have a WP7 but i no for a fact i wont be able to afford a new device.
SO question is what current WP7 is best prepared to update to Mango?
Just to let u no i have a hate relationship with Samsung!
Any advice would be appreciated otherwise im sticking with the pre 2 :-(
Any and all. All WP7 phones will be getting the Mango update!
i am aware that alll current windows phone 7 will be getting the mango update but which current device will best suit mango is what i was trying to say.
i am aware that all current wp7 are pretty similar but they are unique in there own individual way
i am tempted by the either the LG Optimus 7 or the HTC Pro 7 both are in my price range. i just wanted some peoples opinions on actually living with the phones and the expectations with Mango coming on and its 500 or so new features.
Also just a quick question someone might be able to tell me... i've read there has been a slow down in the release of apps. Is this due to the Mango update being released soon? Will all current apps be able to work on Mango?
Once again, any and all phones will work great with Mango due to the software being coded for the minimum hardware requirements (which all phones meet or even exceed!)
So just go with what screen size and/or features suit you Personally I wanted an AMOLED screen so I went with a Samsung Omnia 7 as it was cheap as well.
Many developers will wait until Mango is released because Mango will offer more API's so the hardware is better utilised. Current apps will work on Mango AFAIK.
All current devices will be about the same. They are all missing gyroscopes & front facing cameras, so certain mango features won't be enabled across the board with all current devices.
Just pick the one you like the form factor of, screen size ect.
As for which is the best? Its opinionated, but I would get the Samsung. Samsung uses better NAND memory and has a much better screen. Other than that it will perform the same as the HD7.
You will see a large surge in new apps come mango. Developers are waiting till they can submit their new apps with all the abilities and API's opened up to them.

Thanks for your opinion this is what i was after
FFC dont really bother me as i have great desire to use Skype on a phone. Interestingly i am wondering how the gyroscope on the new devices will work?
Also i was wondering what NAND is?
Coming from a Palm Pre 2 i was thinking about the DELL Venue as it has a slide out keyboard. a 4.1" AMOLED screen. Thing is if its anything like other DELL then ill stay clear!
What about the HTC Pro 7? worth a look? i like the fact of having an option to have a physical keyboard though this is not essential.
I've read that the LG Optimus 7 has a few, nice extra features that other phones dont?!
I liked my friends HTC Desire HD but am not a fan of android so im also thinking about the HTC HD7
Choices choices choices. HELP!!!

Hi! I too just came from a Palm Pre 2! What a coincidence. I advise you not to go with Android. I in fact switched from a Motorola Droid to a Pre Plus in September of 2010 and then a Pre 2 in March of 2011. I have since upgraded to an HTC Trophy and I love my phone. I'm on Verizon, so the Trophy was my only WP7 choice. But it wasn't a bad one at all! While Web OS is a gorgeous operating system, I find WP7 more attractive and easier to use at times. The bigger screen and the keyboardlessness is what really tickles my fancy. Anyway, I would have to agree with the above poster and say a Samsung Focus is the best choice. I myself would have chosen one if I could because of the simple black, and sleekness of the device. Also, I became an early adopter of Mango and 7712 is absolutely amazing, you won't regret it! Variety is fun when it comes to smartphones.
Nexus One -> BB Torch -> Omnia 7 -> Pre 2
Above is my History of Smartphones and i'm anti Apple so i'm not getting an iPhone. I had the Omnia 7 in just in time for the NoDo update and i enojyed it but had lusted for a Pre 2 and webOS.
I am in the UK so i am limited to the phones available in the UK with the HTC Trophy, HD7, Pro7, Mozart, LG Optimus 7, and the Dell Venue Pro 7. I don't really want another Omnia 7 as i have already had it.
The only thing i didnt like about the WP7 was the ringtones and alert tones were not change to my own. Has this been sorted now? is this supported officially?
Anyone any experience in UK with an imported HTC Surrond?
Whats the difference between the HTC Pro 7 and the HTC Arrive ?
With the jailb all limitations are deleted or...?
Android or WP?
XperiaS(HTC ONEX, S2) or Lumia 800? (I want to keep the phone for two years)
dual/quad core or single core?
Thank you a lot
Don't think you can get jailbreaks currently for WP7. It maybe a while or may not even be available.
As for the OS, it's your call really. I find WP7 quite pleasing to use. Android is ok, but not as polished as WP7. And of course the major problem with Android is not getting updates on a timely basis. After 5 months, most phones are still waiting for ICS.
But the HW is another story. Android has better hardware. If I were to go for a phone today for the next 2 years, I would go for the HTC One X.
If you prefer WP7, then the Nokias are the way to go. Beautiful hardware and Nokia's full commitment to WP7 including exclusive apps like Nokia Drive make it worthwhile to buy Nokia.
Disclaimer: I haven't used the One X or Nokia. I own a HTC Radar and am reasonably happy with it.
go for windows phone and even consider samsung windows phones. They can be easily jailbreaked by interop to get the most of it.
Hi everyone,
I wonder what actual Android Phones could see a WP7 ROM coming for some kind of dual boot ?
I know an answer could be "HD2", I know, but it's screen is really of poor colour quality compared to actual HTC Sensation / HTC One screens ...
Another answer could be "buy a WP7 phone", but actually I don't find all the flexibility I need for everyday use with WP7, but I'd like to use it sometimes to start developing apps for it. It could be better not to buy 2 phones, not to keep 2 phones in my shirt's pocket, and not to switch sim card between 2 phones ...
I actually have an HTC Sensation XE, and could be planning for a HTC One X, any chance to see WP7 coming on them ? Or do you have other devices in mind ?
Thanks for your help !
Other than HD2, none.
Future phones? Cannot say, possibly none as the selling point is its OS ofc along with other things.
You have to decide, what you want. WP or Android.
But why did developers have so much interrest in porting Android and WP7 on the HD2 in its time and now no more interest for other phones ?
What did the HD2 have that no more newer phones have ?
HD2 is becoming very old ...

The HD2 was a pioneer back in the day. Its was the first device with a huge screen and a 1GHZ snapdragon, and everyone not interested in iPhone 3GS immediately went to the HD2.
Also, Android wasn't a hit back then and the HD2 was promised to receive a WP7 update (rumored/promised). When it turned out its not going to receive the update, there was a huge frustrated community with a very good phone stuck with a terrible, dead-end operating system (heck, I will NEVER forget the day I was listening to music on my WinMo 6.5 and was wondering why the hell is the music stuttering on my 1GHZ cpu).
You must understand, such a community is not possible today due to fragmentation; there are A LOT more phones than there were back in 2009.
Also, the HD2 was in a pseudo-gray area licensewise: The opensource community will never install an operating system on a device that isn't supposed to have that operating system (ex. SGS II users don't have a license to use WP7 on it). I say gray area because the HD2 doesn't have such a license as well, its just that it was 'promised' WP7
tl;dr: It isn't possible because of too many reasons.
