Trophy cons:
Only runs WP7
Pros:
Um, can't think of any
HD2 cons:
Can run WP7
Pros:
Runs WM6.5, Android, WM6.5 & Android, and ok, for those who find Android just too exciting and need something dull to calm them down; Android & WP7
Hd2 is likely best, the battery life is horrible but it runs wp7 as well as a trophy with a much bigger screen so you can get the full wp7 experience on a bigger phone. Id likely go hd2 with wp7
The HTC HD2 is an old device no longer supported since the release of Windows Phone 7 so the Trophy would be an alternative to that.
+1 for the HD2. It's an amazing phone that will never bore you. It's super easy to unlock (aka: root like Android) and will run more mobile OSes than any other phone in history. It will run WP7 NoDo and Mango just as good as the real thing.
Just make sure to get the T-Mobile US version because of the greater internal memory.
HD2 is no longer supported? I disagree. The hd2 forums on xda are among the largest and most active. Android on the hd2 is constantly evolving. If you are at all interested in playing with android and wp7, hd2 is the clear choice.
the HD2 is a legend.

How to install Windows mobile 6.5 on HTC Android Phones like HTC LEGEND, HTC DESIRE.
you can't as far as I know roms have to be 100% custom made for a device to ever work
and wm is not opensource nor are any of the required drivers
could take man years to reverse engineer to get something semi working
and many people are beginning to prefer android over wm too not many developers in line to spend ages making something not all that popular
i can understand what do you want, same like me.
I need WM 6.5 pro, even 6.1 pro on my HTC Desire HD.
========================================
People who didn't use WM likes android, but some of them like me were using MW since it was Pocket PC with WM 2003SE.
Most of the software we are using under WM not available under android or apple OS.
So is there any way to use the HD2 WM on it or even other rom, but can work with it.
We need help.
Note: the one who likes android thank you but we are from the dark ages.
Any update on this one?
How about a simulation? For example I can run Android on my WinMo HD2, why not do the same on my Desire and run WinMo?

I personally don't think I can cope without WinMo, that's why as i'm looking at upgrading from my HTC TP2, I have nothing more satisfying in mind for now other than a HTC HD2 because I can just visit and play around with the likes of WP7 and Android while comfortably coming back home to Windows Mobile on a HD2. And again, I don't care what people say about WinMo being outdated. But as far as it's HD2, everything goes crisp and intact for me. Android is just iPhoneish IMO, although appears far better than an iPhone. But for a more traditional OS which is written to act like the more commonly used Windows on PCs, I pick WinMo.
Really miss winmo 6.5, not 7 or 8

I had an ATT Tilt 2 that I flashed various roms on before I went to my ATT Inspire last May and quite frankly I miss the full qwerty keyboard, 8 plus hours of battery life, and the whole simplicity and durability of WinMo 6.5.
WinMo notifications and ringing could be as loud as I set my MP3's to play. VS Android can't be heard sometimes.
WinMo Tilt 2 fantastic speakerphone VS Android poor quality speakerphone
WinMo Tilt 2 is 3G had better overall data and voice reception VS Android Inspire 4G....4G doesn't hardly exist anywhere YET.
WinMo Tilt 2 can be BOUGHT for around $100 VS ATT Insurance to replace Inspire is $135
Do I sound like a Window Mobile 6.5 fan? Yep, It's a good platform.
Android reminds me of iPhone which I had for all of 28 days and returned because I didn't want to be "married" to Apple.
But now that I've have a "faster" phone I can't see going back.......
If only I could incorporate both WinMo 6.5 and Android into one device.....
Hi guys,
I wanted to buy Desire but just found out about HD2 Android development, I really love the big screen of HD2 so just wondering do you think it will be able to run Android as good as Desire in future?

Don't count on it.
Get the HD2 for it's Winmo 6.5.5 which is better than the overhyped android
It's an OS for serious people, not kids who need fart apps.
It does everything you need in a portable device.
You need to decide why you have such a phone though, Anrdoid may be what you need.

Actually WinMO has no future thanks to Microsoft's stupid policies! I used to have a HD2 just traded it since I wasn't able to find a decent VNC Client on it! Just been dying to see Android on HD2, the videos posted today looks really great, it seems developers are near a great working build!
@Eienkei
Try realvnc! There are a lot of VNC-clients
@Topic
Hd2, because it's LCD is better than the PenTile AMOLED!
Leo all the way!!!
Since Winmo 6.5 is dead walking, HD2 depends on XDA-Developers only! Hope they don't let us down!!!
I previously had an HD2 before I bought my Desire and to be honest with some of the ROMs that you can get from here it was almost on Par with the Desire, the screen is gorgeous and I loved being able to use it in landscape, only thing that was a killer for me was the lack of Spotifiy which I use a lot so Android seemed the way to go, but I'd still consider picking up another HD2 again as a plaything if I saw one cheaply.
I could also choose between the hd2 and desire, I chose the hd2 mainly for the huge screen. A friend of mine chose the desire instead of the hd2 because of the better app store for android. I suggest to simply try them out in a shop. To me xda is just as good as the android app store, so I'm happy with my decision.
If what you want is android, get the desire.

I also think so.
They say Desire HD is on the way, it sports 4.3 inch display! It would be amazing! But still, HD2 is here right away!!!
I've currently got an HTC Desire, I've currently got the opportunity to swap it for an HTC HD7, the main reason is because I enjoy working with .NET (I've made a couple of applications for Android, but Java isn't my favourite).
The question I'm asking is how does the HD7 compare to the Desire in performance, features and development?
And what, if anything, will I miss from Android.
How easy would it be to switch a Desire, locked to T-Mobile UK, with an HD7, locked to O2
Last question: What kind of progress has been made in 'rooting' Windows Mobile?
Hey all, I am sure, many people here have the same question as I have: Shall I get a WP7 or Android device.
I am currently using a WP6.5 device (Touch Diamond) but its becomming old and its digitizer starts to fail and now I am looking for an replacement whereas there are 4 options:
HTC HD7, Tropy | Desire, Desire HD
(outer ones would be 260€, inner ones 140€)
but there is still the question: WP7 or Android - i am in love with MS and i love the openness of android, which is now beeing jailed more and more whereas MS is officially still discussing homebrew & stuff, thus I as you, the community, what you would reccomend and especially why!

android, because the lack of cdma win7 phones
I am a reformed Iphone user and I have been set free by the Android system, and it is still branded.

The HD2 can run both Android CM7 and WP7, by the way... if you're looking for a phone to fit BOTH of your needs.

Hi everyone,
I wonder what actual Android Phones could see a WP7 ROM coming for some kind of dual boot ?
I know an answer could be "HD2", I know, but it's screen is really of poor colour quality compared to actual HTC Sensation / HTC One screens ...
Another answer could be "buy a WP7 phone", but actually I don't find all the flexibility I need for everyday use with WP7, but I'd like to use it sometimes to start developing apps for it. It could be better not to buy 2 phones, not to keep 2 phones in my shirt's pocket, and not to switch sim card between 2 phones ...
I actually have an HTC Sensation XE, and could be planning for a HTC One X, any chance to see WP7 coming on them ? Or do you have other devices in mind ?
Thanks for your help !
Other than HD2, none.
Future phones? Cannot say, possibly none as the selling point is its OS ofc along with other things.
You have to decide, what you want. WP or Android.
But why did developers have so much interrest in porting Android and WP7 on the HD2 in its time and now no more interest for other phones ?
What did the HD2 have that no more newer phones have ?
HD2 is becoming very old ...

The HD2 was a pioneer back in the day. Its was the first device with a huge screen and a 1GHZ snapdragon, and everyone not interested in iPhone 3GS immediately went to the HD2.
Also, Android wasn't a hit back then and the HD2 was promised to receive a WP7 update (rumored/promised). When it turned out its not going to receive the update, there was a huge frustrated community with a very good phone stuck with a terrible, dead-end operating system (heck, I will NEVER forget the day I was listening to music on my WinMo 6.5 and was wondering why the hell is the music stuttering on my 1GHZ cpu).
You must understand, such a community is not possible today due to fragmentation; there are A LOT more phones than there were back in 2009.
Also, the HD2 was in a pseudo-gray area licensewise: The opensource community will never install an operating system on a device that isn't supposed to have that operating system (ex. SGS II users don't have a license to use WP7 on it). I say gray area because the HD2 doesn't have such a license as well, its just that it was 'promised' WP7
tl;dr: It isn't possible because of too many reasons.
