Wait, you're trying to make a theme for the Motorola Triumph with Samsung /system files? Wouldn't that cause a soft brick? Doesn't make sense why you won't use the Motorola Triumph /system files instead...

Kernal extraction, resigning, and one other question

1. How do I sign a .zip so I can flash it?
2. How do I remove a kernal from a rom to be used in another?
3. How do I remove a theme from a rom to be ued in another?
Sorry, I just don't know much about what files go where and such.
Thanks everyone

You simply don't need to sign the zip for it to flash with clockwork, its a completly unnecessary process with clockwork.
Extracting a kernal is easy just ope the rom you want the kernaal from or kernal zip and find the folder called something like kernal_update.
If you want to extract a theme it could be simple or hard depending on the theme, the most basic thme will theme 3 files in /system/framework, being twframework-res.apk, framework-res.apk and services.jar. just pull those and replace them in any other /system/framework folder.
If you are looking to build your own rom and are going to use somebody else's work then ask them first or at least give them credit, okay?

Thank you, I haven't been able to get hardly any info on this, I'm not building, I just like the theme and kernal from other roms but there's one rom I like to stick with. I can't stand people who use others work and claim it as their own. This nfo is to customize something strictly for myself

Ok I switched those files out, I got the notification bar I wanted, but in the theme I had, when I pressed an input box or anything else, the color around it was green instead of blue, how do i change those bars to be green and the color around anything I select to be green?

::boot animations::shut down animations::tutorials for both::

With permission from the very gifted grafix man TonicAcid from the vibrant Forum. Here are some already made Boot/Shutdown animations.
Plus a tutorial to help create your own
Click link to be taken to his thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=862537
Understand that these files are set up to be flashed with CWM which we do not have. They have to be Non- flashable and moved using Root Explorer or similar app.
I am awaiting a reply from TonicAcid that will tell me what needs to be removed from CWM version to make them work right for us.
(Edit) confirmed: we can pull the bootanimation file from the flashable files and push them with root explorer or something that does the samething.
If you create any Non-Flashable Boots post them for others if you like:

I had these running with 2.1uv kernel, but now with 3.1uv they don't want to take.

3.1uv kernel
removed the boot and bootloop samsung files, copied the bootanimation.zip to /system/media and i get no animation at all....
used to work when i was running 2.1uv. the original galaxy s animations work fine, but not bootanimation.zip...
any advice?
I use an app called bootanimation utility and it works fine.

then you're pushing it to the wrong place. you place bootanimation.zip to system/media. shutdown sound goes in system/media/audo/ui. shutdown folder goes in system/media/video.

hmm....so....
you downloaded an animation from this link, right?:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053250
when you download the file, it comes in a zip file. open the zip file and you should notice a system folder. open that system folder and open the media folder within it. you should see a bootanimation.zip. that file is the one you are copying to system/media on your phone, right?
i know some people simply download the file and rename it to bootanimation.zip. they are actually renaming the cwm flashable file and not pushing the correct zip. you do not have to rename anything during this process. i would say to try and flash it, but for some reason, it never works for me, but you are more than welcome to try and flash it yourself. the above method is just in case that doesnt work.

REPLACE THE 1st & 2nd WHITE BOOT SCREENS FOR BLACK ONES

I KNOW THIS HAVE BEEN DONE BEFORE WITH OTHER METHODS BUT I AM MAKING A NEW THREAD WITH A NEW & EASY METHOD:
TESTED TO WORK ON MY ROOTED ""Cricket Incredible SENSE Rom Release Candidate 3""
I take it it works for any stock or sense roms since other custom roms might have their own custom splash screens.
I MIGHT WORK FOR YOU ALSO.
(WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSABILITY IF SOMETHING HAPPES TO YOUR INCREDIBLE)
LIKE I SAID IT WORKED FOR MINES.
FOR THE FIRST SPLASH SCREEN GO HERE AND DOWNLOAD THE PB31IMG.zip TO YOUR ALREADY FORMATTED TO FAT32 SDCARD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=753938
just remember your sd card needs to be formattaed to FAT32 in order for HBOOT to read the PB31IMG.zip file.
FOR THE 2ND SCREEN:
I used root explorer, (google it) and then install, click on mount R/W , MAKE SURE IT SAYS mount R/O, go to sdcard then long press my ZIP file you downloaded from me click MOVE, then back arrow then scroll down to system/customize/resource then PASTE and it should overwrite the file. Leave the MP3 droid sound untouched. now reboot and enjoy.
again dont forget to click on the ''THANKS'' button if i helped you out!!!
will this replace my nexus bootloader ? sent from my ****!

If you replace the splash screen then it will not, if you replace the boot splash it will but since you are running a nexus boot animation you shouldn't have it in the first place, unless you want to add it back.
is this the splash screen or boot animation ?
I want to flash this, but I'm scared to do this with any PB31IMG files. Any reports on others trying this?

[Q] Boot Animation

Okay, so I have been able to get a bootanimation.zip that i want. I placed it in /data/local... I reboot and it still shows the old swirling Samsung logo...But it does play my custom boot sound (awesome)... I haven't really seen any SGS4G specific threads...and the ones to other phones kind of run me in circles. Not looking for a hand out, just a heading...any idea? Something im PROBABLY missing...
Oh and i gave the bootanimation.zip god privileges...not sure if it matters
Running on 2.3.5 KI3 from Octiane V2.0 (awesome ROM BTW)
at the moment our gingerbread kernels do not support custom boot animations. I'm sure once we have a source to work with, will have full support.

OK first try with this app. I rooted my girls stock gingerbread droidx (if u need help rooting it stock gb droid x u can email me.)then u can download root toolbox and they have a section for boot animation, select one u like and install it. with this app u can even change splash screen and battery icon but for icon u will need pro version. u can just go to ipmart and download it for gree. anyways..... if this does not work u will have to do it manually which may seem scary but its quite simple. first get the bootanimation.zip u want and rename it(if u r with verizon) VZW_bootanimation.zip then download super explorer and then go to ur phones internal system /custom/reasourses and first want to go to that location and copy past the original bootanimation of phone and save to soundcard incase u want to change back to it in system/customize/reasourses and delete ,it will be names VZW_bootanimation.zip. now the custom animation can be added. go copy the custom animation go back to system/customize/reasourses and paste new animation a boom it will work I promise. note if for some reason when u restart phone and no animation is there dont worry nothing is broken the animation isn't allay compatible so just find another on and follow all the steps again minus saving the boot u had added u can just delete it.. now what I desperetly need help with is adding custom sound. I have tried many different thing with no results but negative. ive tried deleting the old sound file and renamwd new sound as old one and placed in system/customize/reasourses no sound , I even went into system/customize/cd/default.xml and changes the writing that tells the system when to play music to autostart="part0" /> no go ,="part1" /> no go. neither worked. I even unzipped the bootanimation.zip and renamed the folder VZW and changed back autostart="VZW" ect which was the original setting and no go. ive tried renaming file and placing it in system/media and pasteing no go, ive tried copying file and pasteing it in system/meadia/notification like some direction have said and no go. im at a lose of what to do. I have a thunderbolt running stock gb and want to customize the sound for bootanimation so if anyone can help please email me [email protected]. thanku and I await ur response

Considering this is for the Samsung galaxy s 4g, you technically are in the wrong forum. Our phones use a qmg file for animations as far.as I know, so bootanimations.zip will not work, I've already tried the method you posted, without success.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
there's a few custom ones in the theme section. You just have to push all the files manually.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
then its quite simple just rename ur new bootanimation exactally as ur old one a boom there u go. its not that difficult and if that doesnt work try something simple and download romtoolbox and install if from therr. if it works on the droid x it should that one

also u probably not only have to name it correctly u may have to try androidzip and change it to that kind of file type if not that do so on ur computer. were Theres a will Theres a way. also make sure ur permissions r correct

I will try that. If the qmg file is truly a zip file with its own custom file extension, then it should work, if its not, then it will display nothing. I'll back up just in case, but I was told by a developer on this phone (I believe raver), that it wasn't supported by the kernel.

Make sure you name it exactly PowerOn.wav, matching the upper case P and O is necessary to make it work.

(SOLVED) Need help with UOT kitchen

Is there anybody who would be willing to help me with using UOT kitchen? I would really appreciate it. Any body who has my phone the Samsung exhibit 2 4g would be best. But all are welcome.
Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda premium
You're a big boy now. Use your words to express the kind of help you seek, otherwise we can only guess as to the difficulty you are having.
That first part was unnesscary. Anyways it just seems a little complicated and I don't know how the whole process works. Just two things I guess, is the theme I produce in the kitchen a rom or is it just a framework I apply and it doesn't replace the rom I'm using. And do I need to make copies of my framework and that other thing and upload it to the kitchen to make my theme?
Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda premium
Your going to need two files...copy the ones you have on your phone.. system.ui.apk/framework-res.Apk...... then whem your building the theme you like you will add those last.. it will ask you to upload those.. do it...wait till the kitchen makes the theme and place it on the sd card.. flash it.....that's it.. it just adds whatever u made to your current set up your on.. either stock or a rom your on.. or theme.. it will substitute the parts you made and use those instead ...goodluck
It can also be called "SystemUI.apk" right?
Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda premium
OK I did the kitchen and it worked. I have a different status bar and lock screen. Although the boot animation didn't work, probabily because of my rom.
Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda premium
Are you using a ROM with TouchWiz? If so, you will need three files. Connect your phone to your comp and go into /system
From there, go to /apps and copy SystemUI.apk to the desktop. Then go back a folder and go to /framework From there, copy framework-res.apk, and if you have touchwiz, copy twframework.apk to the desktop. Upload these files to UOT when you get to that step.
Once you get the new files from UOT, save it to the desktop and open it. Delete the three previous files you copied to the desktop, then search the one you got from UOT, for the same 3 files.
Now, pay attention, and get Root Explorer or Super Manager.
Open the app of your choice that will let your explore your file system. Find the 3 same files we've been dealing with in their respective locations on your phone, using the file explorer. (after you've transfered the ones from UOT to THE ROOT of your sd card) Copy the 3 UOT files over the ones already in your phone, which you will find in their previosly disclosed locations.
Once copied, IMMEDIATELY reboot to recovery and fix permissions.
Substitute "3 files" for "2 files" if not using Touchwiz.
Hope this helped!
---------- Post added at 02:56 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:55 AM ----------
Also, you can just straight copy the UOT files to their respective locations in the .zip of the custom ROM you are using, and flash the ROM.
Yea I have the twframework apk in my system, does that mean its touch wiz?
Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda premium
yes. and follow my instructions above, or you will start to have errors. Definatel force closes.
The fact that the status bar wasn't changing could have been due to the fact that I wasn't adding my touch wiz framework?

This message "WAS" for mendozinas but last post i found from him was in 2011. i do thank for having a kitchen like this to customize pretty much anything for my phone (p500) Optimus one. I was informed that the kitchen will not support ics based so i flashed over Slimgen 1.6.0 (android 2.3.7) i just made some themes for the rom, havent tried them yet. I did upload the Framework.res and SystemUI.apk of the rom so hopefully it will work this time. I was wondering If anyone can add my rom (well the rom im using) on the kitchen list. SlimGen 1.6.0 here is the link to download the rom itself. im sure you already know.
http://code.google.com/p/slimgen-pro...downloads/list
Regarding to Mendozinas only. (Please reply back if you recieved my message. thanks agian. i do appreciate it. I sent you a PM figuring it will get to you quicker but i realized you must have many Pm's about certain questions. So maybe this will do the trick.) Regarding to Mendozinas only.
I tried to trouble shoot myself, still in early dev mode for me (learning the ropes) but i made a copy of the rom i have and plugged in what was from the UOT file that was giving to me from the kitchen. I made a flashable zip on my desktop and place it on the root of my sdcard. Booted into recovery...flashed it but still i get the same message. Am i using a correct rom for this or what?
Im attaching the UOT file i made so if u may need to look at it its there, any info you want from me just ask, im very greatful for the help, would really like to make different themes on my phone for start then move to rom modding .
I would really like a step by step if possible so i may get this theme up and flashed on my phone so i may make different ones for future needs.
Thanks again and hopefully i will be hearing from you.
(I posted this up couples days ago. but nobody is dealing in that thread i guess, So hopefully one of you are more familiar using the kitchen then i am.) 07-30-12 date.
I hope i gave the right information to lead me into the right direction soi may start understanding how to work around such problems like this. Thanks
Welp, all's well that's ends well
