Understand that these files are set up to be flashed with CWM which we do not have. They have to be Non- flashable and moved using Root Explorer or similar app.
I am awaiting a reply from TonicAcid that will tell me what needs to be removed from CWM version to make them work right for us.
(Edit) confirmed: we can pull the bootanimation file from the flashable files and push them with root explorer or something that does the samething.
If you create any Non-Flashable Boots post them for others if you like:

I had these running with 2.1uv kernel, but now with 3.1uv they don't want to take.

3.1uv kernel
removed the boot and bootloop samsung files, copied the bootanimation.zip to /system/media and i get no animation at all....
used to work when i was running 2.1uv. the original galaxy s animations work fine, but not bootanimation.zip...
any advice?
I use an app called bootanimation utility and it works fine.
You can import your own, or choose from some downloads. I currently have a cm7 one.

then you're pushing it to the wrong place. you place bootanimation.zip to system/media. shutdown sound goes in system/media/audo/ui. shutdown folder goes in system/media/video.

hmm....so....
you downloaded an animation from this link, right?:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053250
when you download the file, it comes in a zip file. open the zip file and you should notice a system folder. open that system folder and open the media folder within it. you should see a bootanimation.zip. that file is the one you are copying to system/media on your phone, right?
i know some people simply download the file and rename it to bootanimation.zip. they are actually renaming the cwm flashable file and not pushing the correct zip. you do not have to rename anything during this process. i would say to try and flash it, but for some reason, it never works for me, but you are more than welcome to try and flash it yourself. the above method is just in case that doesnt work.

I'm not sure if this has been posted here and I'm not taking credit, all I'm doing is bringing this over from AC
Boot zip(place in system/customize/resource folder) using root explorer or something similar.
Using CM roms, place zip in system/media - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NMC0ZHLC
DON'T FORGET, IF YOU'RE MOVING THE ZIP, TO ALSO RENAME OR MOVE WHATEVER BOOTANIMATION ZIP YOU ARE CURRENTLY RUNNING

EDIT Removed the link for the flashable zip since people are saying it's not working. Again, this is not my work and I simply moved the bootanimation zip using root explorer. It's very simple.
Thank you ill flash it right now

Hey guys...
Thanks to despotovski01's thread "How to make your own bootanimation" and a little magic (thanks to the pre-release demo of Duke Nukem Forever), I was able to create something awesome... the DukeOS Bootanimation
I may borrow despotovski01's instructions (sorry pal)...
Root Explorer method:
1. Rename your boot animation to bootanimation.zip
2. Put it on your SD card
3. Open Root Explorer and copy bootanimation.zip to /system/media. This will replace the existing boot animation
4. Reboot your phone
ADB method:
1. Make sure you have downloaded android sdk
2. Put android sdk in C:\
3. Set the directory of command prompt to C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools. Click here for a video tutorial.
4. Rename your boot animation to bootanimation and put it in C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
5. Open cmd
6. Type in order:
-adb remount
-adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
-adb reboot
it is available in both lo-res (takes less space and loads way faster)
and hi res versions (seems to load faster? )
lo-res: http://www.multiupload.com/860L1GJE31
hi-res: http://www.multiupload.com/D9ON73WTG4
http://www.stilbruch.at/2011/06/bootanimation-dukeos-bootanimation-duke.html
preview:
I hope my dear friends from Gearbox software aren't mad at me for that... It is just another promotion for the awesome upcoming Duke Nukem Forever (10th July 2011 International, 14th July 2011 US)!
I don't own any of the rights on the graphics!
BTW: I think it would perfectly fit honeycomb
good bootani....thanks!!
This works good. Thank you.
I get a faster reboot when I use the hi-res boot animation. I like this.

You are using stock rom, have u root your Tab? If not, you will never have the chance to use this wonderful boot animation.
If u want to root, use Chainfire CF root which support the bootimation inside the /data/local/ this saveu more space in /system.

I suppose you could try changing the boot animation.zip to bootani.qmg, but I'd either change the old bootani.qmg file name to oldbootani.qmg or backup elsewhere in case it doesn't work.
Use root explorer to copy it to the place you need (it allows you to change permissions from R/O to R/W).
Easy...
Hmmm... I'm afraid to try it and get into a boot loop. CWM isn't playing nice and for some reason doesn't want to backup my current rom.

Just drop the zip file into the media folder. Make sure the permissions match and I'm 90% sure the rom will just use it instead. At worst you be no better off if you follow but I'm sure it will work. Absolute system tools has a feature that does it all for you and has 100s of animations.

Hey everyone,
I originally found this modification many months ago for the Vibrant (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974771) and had requested for a flashable Zip file for the Galaxy S which i was able to obtain. i changed the OP so now you can download the .Zip file from here rather then looking for the link. This will replace many of your system sounds on your phone with computerized voice (Linda). So far this has been confirmed working on Bionix and Triggers roms and i'm sure it will work on most of the others.
Thanks to:
Chadster214 for making this a flashable .Zip for Galaxy S (and permission to post this in my OP)
Angryattheworld for making this modification for the Vibrant
xtone for also helping with creating the Project Linda sounds
And to anyone else who i may have forgotten
Instruction:
Download to SD
Reboot into recovery
install the downloaded zip file from below
reboot and enjoy
(i didn't have to clear any cache when flashing this)
Thanks again to everyone who made this happen.
Here is a list of sounds that it currently changes or includes:
Notications (Includes):
Linda Calendar
Linda Email
Linda IM
Linda Messaging
Linda Voicemail
Linda Weather

Bionix Frost already has this.
gotcha, i was hoping someone might be able to make a flashable zip so it can be used on different roms like triggers as well or any other rom
you can usually just extract it from the ROM's themselves. I downloaded 2 different custom ones someone made in the Vibrant forums when I used to have a Vibrant and put it in this one. It's a lil different but still has the Linda voice. I just use Root Explorer to move the files to the correct folder.
Any idea what folder they might be located in by chance? I looked under system/media and didn't find any in any of the other folders located there.
EDIT: Never mind, I downloaded the zip from the vibrant thread, extracted, and now just copying over to the correct folder. A little time consuming that's for sure.

OK first try with this app. I rooted my girls stock gingerbread droidx (if u need help rooting it stock gb droid x u can email me.)then u can download root toolbox and they have a section for boot animation, select one u like and install it. with this app u can even change splash screen and battery icon but for icon u will need pro version. u can just go to ipmart and download it for gree. anyways..... if this does not work u will have to do it manually which may seem scary but its quite simple. first get the bootanimation.zip u want and rename it(if u r with verizon) VZW_bootanimation.zip then download super explorer and then go to ur phones internal system /custom/reasourses and first want to go to that location and copy past the original bootanimation of phone and save to soundcard incase u want to change back to it in system/customize/reasourses and delete ,it will be names VZW_bootanimation.zip. now the custom animation can be added. go copy the custom animation go back to system/customize/reasourses and paste new animation a boom it will work I promise. note if for some reason when u restart phone and no animation is there dont worry nothing is broken the animation isn't allay compatible so just find another on and follow all the steps again minus saving the boot u had added u can just delete it.. now what I desperetly need help with is adding custom sound. I have tried many different thing with no results but negative. ive tried deleting the old sound file and renamwd new sound as old one and placed in system/customize/reasourses no sound , I even went into system/customize/cd/default.xml and changes the writing that tells the system when to play music to autostart="part0" /> no go ,="part1" /> no go. neither worked. I even unzipped the bootanimation.zip and renamed the folder VZW and changed back autostart="VZW" ect which was the original setting and no go. ive tried renaming file and placing it in system/media and pasteing no go, ive tried copying file and pasteing it in system/meadia/notification like some direction have said and no go. im at a lose of what to do. I have a thunderbolt running stock gb and want to customize the sound for bootanimation so if anyone can help please email me [email protected]. thanku and I await ur response

Considering this is for the Samsung galaxy s 4g, you technically are in the wrong forum. Our phones use a qmg file for animations as far.as I know, so bootanimations.zip will not work, I've already tried the method you posted, without success.

there's a few custom ones in the theme section. You just have to push all the files manually.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
then its quite simple just rename ur new bootanimation exactally as ur old one a boom there u go. its not that difficult and if that doesnt work try something simple and download romtoolbox and install if from therr. if it works on the droid x it should that one

I will try that. If the qmg file is truly a zip file with its own custom file extension, then it should work, if its not, then it will display nothing. I'll back up just in case, but I was told by a developer on this phone (I believe raver), that it wasn't supported by the kernel.

DROID RAZR Boot Animation
Just like it sounds...this is the RAZR boot animation resized and optimized for the Incredible. Gotta show some love, the INC was good to me...
Sadly, this file is huge compared to most of the boot animations out there (19.18 MB), but I tested it on my old INC and it looks phenomenal.
Thanks to droidth3ory for the RAZR media dump
AS ALWAYS...
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE AS A RESULT OF USING THIS CONTENT, JUST AS IT IS NO ONE ELSES FAULT FOR ANY DAMAGE I MIGHT DO TO MINE. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE RISKS INVOLVED, YA MIGHT JUST BE BETTER OFF STICKING WITH STOCK. It's not that complicated, just do a little research. Plenty of knowledge floating around XDA...
Simple enough:
1:: download the .zip
2:: rename it (using ES File Explorer or Astro or any ROOT EXPLORER that will allow you to MOUNT SYSTEM AS WRITABLE) by simply cutting out the "RAZR_INC_" so that it is just bootanimation.zip. On some ROMs you may need to rename the animation to "VZW_bootanimation.zip" and the audio file to "VZW_Droid.mp3"
3:: copy or cut the bootanimation.zip and paste it in the system/customize/resource folder, or wherever the boot animation file is stored on your particular ROM. For CM7 and AOSP ROMs I think they may be in a different location. RESEARCH IT
4:: if you are warned that the merge will overwrite the existing file and that the world will end... it won't...accept the merge.
REBOOT
DOWNLOAD LINK:
DOWNLOAD
**Audio is attached as well (audio.zip). The timing is not perfect, but it's about as close as I could get it. I have compared it to how it runs on my BIONIC and it's pretty damn close lol.**

audio is now attached...it's not perfect, but it works. dump it in the same folder as the bootanimation.zip (system/customize/resource)
I never got the sound to work on none of the boot animations
Ive tried. I put it in the system/customize/resources / but still does not work

Need to extract the audio zip to get the mp3 and rename it VZW_Droid.mp3 and put it in the system/customize/resources directory and it should work, it works for me!!
Ok I'm gonna try that

Thanks for this dubsx! I had to rename to VZW_bootanimation.zip on Jermaine's stock+.

thanks for the feedback, I've updated the directions in the OP to reflect the need to rename both files in some ROMs

Where is the whole ROM where this was taken from?

just do a search for the RAZR system dump, you'll find it

FYI - I just pushed this to my Dinc running the PrimeXL-HD Rom by Joelz, the animation is in /data/local and named htc_bootanimation.zip. In case that helps someone else with that Rom or possibly another one running a Sense Rom.
I haven't done anything with the audio file, I don't really care for boot audio so I'm not sure if it will need to be htc_audio.zip or something like that, or if the default name will work.
is that sense 2.3.5? wonder if they changed it when they came out with that...thanks for bringing that up, I will update the OP

For those of you on CM6/7, instructions for enabling sound can be found here:
http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/cyanogenmod/32058-how-add-bootsound-cyanogenmod.html
Not the link I used when I did it, but it is essentially the same thing.
Then just drop the file in /data/local/android_audio.mp3
hopefully somebody can compress and reduce it. I'm sure the images would look identical since most animations are much smaller. this one is nearly 4x bigger than most I use. I don't even use an app that large lol

I rarely ask anything or respond since newbie pretty much. Sorry if posting question in wrong area for this here too. I notice says for Rarz_INC.. Is this just to do for Droid Incredible or could I put animation & sound on my Bionic? I'm getting sort of use to the boot stuff but no pro. I know where to put the Zip and audio and I believe what to mark for permissions and what & to name. Thanks in advance.. You all rock .
