is this phone still unlockable? - HTC 7 Pro

I'm having a hell of a time trying to unlock this phone. chevron says every time cannot connect to phone. I've followed the instructions word for word and no matter what i do it never connects to the phone.
I'm at a loss. The tile colors are driving me nuts and am dying to be able to change them. Any advice what i might be missing? phone is in airplane mode, zune is running etc. No dice.

The tile colours? You can change them in Settings > Themes, they pick up the Accent Colour

yeah, I want custom colors, the stock ones kinda suck.

if your Phone have NoDo software, you forget free unlock with ChevronWP7
WP7 can unlock only if have software before NoDo upgrade
for $99 you can buy developer unlock from Microsoft
P.S.
soon be available cheap official unlock provided by ChevronWP7 and Microsoft for only $9 http://labs.chevronwp7.com/

Thanks, i guess i'll wait then. Just got the phone a couple days ago so i'm assuming it's the latest software. Hard to wade through all the info to figure out what's going on. Appreciate the answer.
Can't believe they didn't have custom color options though. I know it's minor but still annoying. Otherwise i'm loving WP7 more than my android by quite alot.

[Q] NoDo and 'Jailbroken' WP7

Knowing that the ChevronWP7 team has now been working with Microsoft to secure the exploit they were using, and that the NoDo update coming out on Monday will relock the phone and patch said exploit, what will happen next?
Obviously some of the fine people in these forums will take a crack at it, so I suppose my question would be this: Knowing what you guys know about developing and hacking the Windows Phone, how long would it take between the release of the update and until it i cracked again?
Will it be similar to the timespan between iOS release and jailbreaks, or of Android releases and rooting? What steps do you developers and hackers anticipate you will have to take in order to developer unlock our first major OS update?
I'm just really curious, and having just gotten a Samsung Focus on Monday, I wanted to make sure whether or not it was worth updating as soon as the update was relased. What do you think?
Well, on LG phones, you have a registry editor which allows you to unlock the phone (for sideloading) without the Chevron exploit (and no need for a certificate). I wonder if the update will kill even the registry keys (or change them to something more obscure).
Assume those do not change, then a new exploit would need to access the registry of a locked phone somehow, and I am sure people here will come up with a new certificate.
Other WP7
What about other phones? HTC HD7 or Samsung Focus? The Focus makes up a very large part of WP7 users.
it will come the phone is only 5 months old there has to be some bright spark out there that can unlock the phone after the updates or microsoft will allow HomeBrew applications to be loaded?
I just flashed from 7004 to PreNoDo 7008 on my HD7 and my unlocked apps are still working... I'm hoping that happens when I get my NoDo update... though unlikely. Then I could just use the sideloaded registry editor to re-unlock it. Here's to hoping!
I have installed NoDo on my US AT&T Samsung Focus and it is still Chevron unlocked.
My Omnia 7 has Nodo and homebrew software is still working.

I installed NoDo on my Focus and now its locked. How did you unlock it in the first place? I installed the certificate, ran Chevron tool, and checked both boxes. Now after NoDo install locked again.

[Q] Dell Venue Pro OS ver 7.0.7355.0

Hi there,
My DVP came preloaded with NODO, I have tried hard resetting (Settings, About, Reset your phone) but it still leaves the phone as 7.0.7355...
I have tried unlocking, but it doesn't seem to work...
Is there a way to uninstall NODO so I can unlock the phone?
Any help will be very much appreciated.
u have to find a rom before Nodo for your device to flash it & do the trick to keep chevron working with nodo
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009974
Thnx for quick reply.
Didn't know you could flash roms on WP7...where can I find a DVP rom...tried searching but couldn't find one
Might be easier to just pay the $100 and get an official develop account. It's been known for months that ChevronWP7 would stop working with NoDo. It sucks, but to me the apps were more important than the money, and I didn't have to mess around with preventing relock or anything.

[Q] Question--Are there any roms for the Sprint HTC Arrive?

I know there are plenty of roms for the 7 Pro, but are there any for the CDMA Sprint HTC Arrive? (I think it's also the HTC GOLD_C)
I just want a way to Interop_Unlock. I'm already developer unlock through Microsoft, but there seems to be no way to Interop Unlock on a CDMA HTC device.
Thanks,

there aren't any custom roms for the arrive yet because there's no way to load them on. cooking the roms and flashing is the easy part, but you need a hacked HSPL to write over the stock OS. the good news is mwang from the DFT (who made all the other HSPL's) is hard at work on making one for the Arrive. i want to interop unlock as well but I'll just wait to cook my own rom. much easier than downgrading and trying some sketchy updating tools. This thread is where mwang made the comment about the Gold_C coming soon, so check here for updates.
cheers
please were are the Arrive custom roms.
I want to customize and use homebrew apps for my Arrive. And I can't find anything. I am unlocked by the new official chevron unlock. But that's it. I still can't do squat. With it. I want to advance configure my device. Can anyone help me?

I too am waiting for this. I am really surprised more people haven't gotten this phone yet. Its much better than than any android device I have ever used and would say in time will surpass the Iphone. I dont care that its not 4g or 4.3 inch screen i love my keyboard and I love that phone makes it over 12 hours without charging even with checking email, playing chess, phone calls loads of texts and internet usage.

[Q] Phone relocked itself out of the blue

Today i was playing games on my phone like anyother day and in the afternoon my phone relocked itself.( I can't deploy anything now)
I don't know the cause but just a few days ago i updated a few apps and i didn't deploy anything on my phone. I didn't even touch connection setup at all
I own a HTC HD7 7.10.8107, Can someone please give me instructions on how to to unlock it please
Hmm... do you have Zune Pass? My phone re-locked itself (well, returned to stock dev-unlock and lost interop-unlock; I have an AppHub account) when my annual Zune Pass subscription expired and auto-renewed. At least, I assume that was the cause, since I can't think of anything else that could have been responisble for the change during those few few hours.
Restoring a backup should re-unlock the phone, though I can't promise it wouldn't re-lock.
This is not a good sign - GDTD; please read over this thread as well....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542297
i've restored a working backup, but it is still the same
damn u ms.....................
@LiFePo4: Thanks. I'm not sure what more to add to that thread, but it's a concerning event. I'd like to find a common thread to all these unexpected re-locks. In my case, the Zune Pass renewal was very suspiciously timed, but that *could* have been a coincidence.
@blanket: The backup itself would definitely still have been unlocked (it's a ew registry keys, and the registry is completely overwritten and restored by the backed up version). However, it's possible that the phone very quickly re-locked itself again. Perhaps it was triggered by some datestamp or something? Try and remember if there's anything special you had done with the phone, or with the WLID that the phone is associated wtih, exactly one year prior to the relock...
That said, given that my phone has *not* re-locked again since that one time, I would have expected a restored backup to work. Very odd. Possibly the problem is because the backup restores the phone's clock as well, and so suddenly the phone crossed that threshold of "time to re-lock" again?
Oooo, what if you registered as a Dev on AppHub exactly one year ago. Then let's say the phone can not check with the app hub to see if you have still paid your dues so it is designed to Lock again....by removing the links in the registry to prevent relock you have severed that link back to the "mother ship".
So, a 1 year timer says "well, I can't check to see if this guy is still paying his Dev Account dues so I have to Lock until I can".
Possibility? Did those getting relocked sign up for a Dev account about a year ago?
No I don't own a Zune pass or apphub. I unlocked my phone using ansar's method would it be related to him or his account?? a fee days ago I updated a fee apps such as sound enhancer, photobox ask ziggu etc.
I'm going to try backup my phone tonight to see what happens
I don't know anything about ansar's stuff (nor do I want to); sorry.

that sounds possible, which means many more who used the original chevron method would be meeting with the same fate as me. But what about those who used the chevron unlock + interop unlock and applied the tweaks to prevent the phone from relocking?

Thats my situation , My HTC HD7 was chervon unlock at prenodo and updated to 8107 then interop unlock. It was working fine for so long then yesterday out of the blue when i opened adobe reader it gave me that dumb revoked by microsoft ****.
I never used the original Chevron (couldn't since my phone came with NoDo). I am not sure what could be happening if that is the method you used (someone else with experience using the original would have to chime in).
I got my phone unlocked using the new Chevron token and then IU'd. There is definitely something freaky going on with these "random" relocks that people get once in a great while and there doesn't seem to be a pattern (yet).
---------- Post added at 06:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:53 PM ----------
P.S. This doesn't seem to happen that often so I don't think MS has put some system in place to purposely go after IU devices. It just seems to be a sequence of events that differ for each user, but also each user seems to be unlocked from a different method so who knows

I came from the original chevron unlock too
I'm going to restore without an internet connection tonight, see if it works
Frustrating
A similar thing happened with me recently. I found the culprit of the problem was that MS uses a "lease" of sorts when registering phones to be unlocked for development. You have to unregister your device, and then, re-register it again. Also make sure you're using the latest Windows Phone SDK from create.msdn.com to register it, otherwise it might not be recognized appropriately.
@thekiller99 and @blanket - looks like a common situation then having to do with Chevron per-nodo unlock. Hopefully someone with more insight into what that method originally did and has now exposed to MS can chime.
Wish I could help but this all predates me; I didn't get a WP7 until Verizon finally came out with the Trophy and it came with NoDo so I had went the Dev account originally until Chevron sold tokens, then I bought one and canceled my Dev account. I also unregistered my phone before I canceled it so hopefully any "leases" were removed; guess I'll find out in July when my one year anniversary comes...

Don't mind paying for it, but.....its not even sold anymore!
I could have jumped to ios (no android please...) but still decided to keep faith with ms and this is what I get
Oh man...
What can i do now? I don't have any previous backups since i reformatted my laptop not so long ago? Do i have to go full unlock(deepshining DFT)? I don't really like flashing some random rom on my phone as i want to keep it as original as it can.

Here is a good summary of options depending on your phone;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538801
Is it possible to downgrade it? and use ansar's method to upgrade it back to 8107? I don't like Custom roms because they aren't really safe and im not a tech guy that can easily follow instructions.
It's possible, yes. However, it's somewhat difficult to get the original ChevronWP7 Unlocker working now; its certificate has expired, and you'll have to downgrade your phone to pre-NoDo, then preserve the unlock through each subsequent update (including upgrading to Mango, which will re-lock the phone). I suggest deploying Heathcliff74's HTC Interop Unlock app before upgrading to Mango, as you'll then be able to use Connection Setup to get both dev- and interop-unlock easily.
Alternatively, you could of course get an AppHub account, or pester Microsoft for more ChevronWP7 Labs unlock tokens. The first costs money (unless you're a student), and the second would take a while and has no guarantee of success, though.

But for heathcliff74's htc interop unlock app to work i have to downgrade my phone?(currently in 8107) How would i do that? I don't' have any backups saved anymore that dates back to prenodo. If i have to flash some random rom to my phone im going to run into trouble since im not very good at this kind of thing.

Samsung Focus S/2nd Gen ROMs etc...

To make a long story short I once had the HD7 which had many custom roms, then went back to android and now once again coming back to WP7 with the Focus S. Something about the fluidness of WP7 that brought me back .
Anyway I dont see anything on XDA or the interwebs in regards to custom roms and or theming this phone. Is there a good please to read up on what can be done with the Focus S from a customization perspective? I see you can interop unlock but no access to registery edit to actually make it worth while.
What is possible with this phone today?
Sorry if this should have been posted in general.
Thanks!

I'm 99% sure Root Tools gives the Focus S registry access plus alot of other good things that you used to only be able to do with a custom ROM (it might depend on firmware version) as for custom ROM's though you are out of luck.
Currently, there are no bootloader unlocked for gen2 devices (except for the Lumia 710 and some Lumia 800s) so no custom ROMs. WindowBreak works on the gen2 Samsung phones, but only if their firmware version isn't too new. Successfully applying WindowBreak will dev- and interop-unlock your phone. At that point, you can install WP7 Root Tools v0.9. Root Tools not only includes a registry and filesystem browser, it can also elevate other apps so they run as "root" with full permissions. You can use this with things like XapHandler, Bazaar, and a large number of tweak apps.

So, what you're saying is that by using WindowBreak, I can dev- and interop-unlock my Focus S without using my ChevronWP7 token, which I purchased but will no longer be available to me shortly (if it isn't already)?
Dennis
The ChevronWP7 Labs token will also work (for the next few months, at least), but it's dev-unlock only. You can also get a full AppHub account for free since you bought a Labs token.
WindowBreak uses the same hack as the Interop Unlock app for Samsung, but it doesn't require a dev-unlock first.

O.K., thanks! I have another question that I don't know if you'd know the answer to or not - is the ChevronWP7 token device specific? What I'm asking is, I purchased a token to unlock my Focus S, but I think there's something wrong with the USB connector on the phone (USB cable feels as if it's loose when plugged into the phone, and charging keeps getting interrupted if the phone or cable is bumped), and I'm wondering if my token will work on a DIFFERENT Samsung Focus S, should AT&T replace it for me.
Do you know if my token will unlock a replacement Focus S, or is it tied to my specific device ID?
By the way, I interop-unlocked my Focus S, too, after ChevronWP7 unlocking it.
Thanks,
Dennis
It's tied to your Live ID. I think you may need to use the same Live ID on the phone, but I'm not sure about that. I do suggest de-authorizing the current phone first if you send it in for repair.
That said, the most common cause of the USB problem you describe is just some lint or other junk in the microUSB port. Turn off the phone and remove the battery, then try using a pin or very skinny paperclip or something to see if you can extract anything that might be preventing the plug from locking in fully.
