[Q] Question--Are there any roms for the Sprint HTC Arrive? - HTC 7 Pro

I know there are plenty of roms for the 7 Pro, but are there any for the CDMA Sprint HTC Arrive? (I think it's also the HTC GOLD_C)
I just want a way to Interop_Unlock. I'm already developer unlock through Microsoft, but there seems to be no way to Interop Unlock on a CDMA HTC device.
Thanks,

there aren't any custom roms for the arrive yet because there's no way to load them on. cooking the roms and flashing is the easy part, but you need a hacked HSPL to write over the stock OS. the good news is mwang from the DFT (who made all the other HSPL's) is hard at work on making one for the Arrive. i want to interop unlock as well but I'll just wait to cook my own rom. much easier than downgrading and trying some sketchy updating tools. This thread is where mwang made the comment about the Gold_C coming soon, so check here for updates.
cheers

please were are the Arrive custom roms.
I want to customize and use homebrew apps for my Arrive. And I can't find anything. I am unlocked by the new official chevron unlock. But that's it. I still can't do squat. With it. I want to advance configure my device. Can anyone help me?

I too am waiting for this. I am really surprised more people haven't gotten this phone yet. Its much better than than any android device I have ever used and would say in time will surpass the Iphone. I dont care that its not 4g or 4.3 inch screen i love my keyboard and I love that phone makes it over 12 hours without charging even with checking email, playing chess, phone calls loads of texts and internet usage.

HSPL(#3) go to:

I am running DFT room and loving it on my Sprint HTC Arrive

Root the desire?

I consider buying this phone. But I don't want to before it's rooted. Thought we could discuss it here. Or is it delivered open?

Yesterday I was searching for the direct quote from Paul (modaco) regarding this; at least I think it was him who said this...
Basically, unless I made this up in my head, he (if it were him) stated that the oem unlock functionality built into the bootloader has been removed.
Of course this is all speculative until I can find that damn quote
I strongly doubt that this has the same oem unlock features as the Nexus. The OEM unlock is most likely only requested by Google, and I do not think that HTC will do the same thing. It would be awesome, no doubt about it, but hey, lets be realistic.
I guess we'll just have to wait until the device gets sent out to review.

Guess you're right. Hope there will be some kind of exploit we can use. Or a leaked RUU with eng SPL or anything.
Do we know who is going to root / make a custom rom for it?

I think (and hope) someone will manage to root it, unless it's delivered open. But at the moment we don't know.
Altoguh, I've heard that it's using the same radio and hboot as Nexus One. Therefore, they should be able to use the same ROMs.
hey it's almost 100% that it will be rooted! is there anything in the world of computers that is not hacked ??? if it's not like the same day of it's release like the nexus (which was even before its release) it will be rooted in some days!!!

I just hope that it's not that every good developer have bought Nexus One, and therefore doesn't bother trying to root the Desire.
i don't think so, as every enthusiast will try to have this phone. Also i see many "hackers" being involved in more than two or even three mobile phones very often in this forum so we hold our chance
This should prove to be interesting to watch unfold...
random thoughts...
-The usual suspects seem to be fully wrapped up in Nexus development. Hard not to be with such a fun device What does this mean for the desire? Not sure.
-oem unlock appears to not be present in the desire's rom. if the desire is built on the same everything else (with sense on top) as the nexus, which has not bee rooted any other way beyond oem unlock, I'm not sure how someone will circumvent the lockdown. Perhaps without oem unlock, people will be forced to get creative? *shrug*
-The desire's rom works on the nexus; to me this says one thing...there is little->no reason for anyone with an n1 to look into a desire as long as desire images keep leaking.
All random thoughts but it would seem that possibly the desire may wind up being a consumer product rather than a hobbyist product...only time will tell though
I hope it will be more then a consumer product. The reaseon I'm buying the desire is that it will be released in belgium the nexus one isn't.
Yeah, I'm intrigued about this too- ordered an HTC Desire earlier today for delivery beginning of April, but no idea if i'll be able to root it and stick a Nexus rom on it!
Will be keeping an eye on these threads, just about to pre-order the Desire.
Hi guys
preordered one too, coming from a Touch HD. Til now on the online shop I ordered its stated to arrive at the end of march. Hope they can hold this date. Cant wait to see this device beeing rooted

hmm, I really want a snapdragon+ phone with sense on t-mobile usa. or even just a snapdragon one that is for consumers.
It needs time, I think. Because it´s not to buy, I mean before the HTC Hero came out, do we know it has root? NO When it´s out it needs a little time, and we have root believe me.
sorry for my bad english
I have a few questions, i want to buy a htc desire but i come from winmo world so i don't understand everything...
If the phone doesn't get rooted...
-will it be still possible to install .apk directly on the phone ?
-will it be still possible to upgrade 'operators' roms to official or cooked roms ?

-yes.
-no.
Nexus
I've got the Nexus One, and just wanted to point out a few things (from my perspective)
The Nexus one runs Desire / Sense - BUT flash in the camera is bad, and so is bluetooth. (I used to have a HTC Magic, running HTC Hero / Sense on it, never really worked as good as my friends Hero, so history repeats itself - even with my friend selling his Hero to buy a Desire
So there are a difference in the hardware
the Nexus was rooted very fast, but this is because Google intended the phone to be rooted, this is Google behavior, and clearly not HTC behavior.
I don't see why a developer finding a root method in the Nexus without using the google "practices" to root, would publish their findings for the Nexus, so there might be a couple of ways to root the Desire right when it comes out.
thats just my 2 cents. (For what they were worth)

But if the desire is rooted will it be possible for the custom/official roms ? are there custom "hardspl" who can be built like in windows mobile ? What are the requirements ?
(It scare the **** out of me to be stuck with an operator rom as you can see xD)

[Q] Asking the WP7 community - some questions

Hi guys,
I'm thinking of buying a Samsung Omnia 7 right now as there are really cheap in Germany. But I am unsure about a few things which keeps me from buying for now, maybe you can help me? I am currently using a SE Xperia X1 (HTC Kovsky).
First off: NoDo. It's there already or will be there soon. Are any Registry tweaks possible after NoDo is up and running? I don't mind it beeing complicated, is it just possible?
Second: ChevronWP7. It's going to fade away after NoDo, no surprise. Has anyone heard of similar applications in development? Most important feature I guess is sideloading applications on WP7, are there other solutions?
I heard something of USB tethering on the Omnia7. Is that true? Are there any restritcions? Is this still working after NoDo?
What about HTC apps? Obviously the won't install after NoDo, but which of them used to work on a "unlocked" device?
Is there any way of recognizing the device as USB-storage?
Thats it for now. Any help is appreciated Thanks already!

I don't think there is a chevron-like device for after NoDo devices yet, so if not then the answer to your other questions is "no" but I don't know 100%.
I do know there is no way to mount your device as USB storage, only Zune can recognize the phone, the only exception is if you own an HD2.

I believe this will resolve all of his issues though it's still just in beta
http://touchxperience.com/
oh yeah I forgot about that, I hope it's the real deal and actually works.
You don't own a WP7 device yet, but your major preoccupation seems to be unlocking it or tearing it apart. I used to apply every tweak to my phone in previous Windows Mobile.. I'm a tinkerer. With WP7 I have NO desire to go rooting and editing registry and all that. The homebrew just doesn't appeal to me. I wouldn't make this your primary hangup over buying the phone.
The answer to most of your questions is 'No'. My comment on that is 'so what?'
I think the dude above me makes a good point.
If you like to mod, theme, tether, or change anything about your phone then WP7 is not for you.

Yeah, the same way - if you really want a full power of what modern OS can give you currently, WP7 is not for you either.
It's not only about modding. It's about usage.
for day to day use, it's probably the best out of all the current smartphone OS'. However, for more advanced things, it's not there yet. How long will it take, well that is up to MS and how they go about it over the course of the year, but with 3 months pretty much gone now, it doesn't look like we will see much of it till late next year when windows phone 8 comes about.
Thanks for you'r response, guys!
One more question about registry edits: I found the registry edior by Julien Schapman and I read somewhere else that registry edits can be done by deploying a provxml. are there other solutions? Juliens tool obviously won't work after NoDo as it has to be sideloaded...
i own the omnia 7 for about 3 weeks and there were a few moments when i wanted to go back to my nokia 5800, but on the other hand when i saw its incredibly laggy UI, powered by a 330mhz CPU i realized how awesome the omnia with win7 actually is.
ofcourse there are only about 15% setting options compared to the 5800 one's, but eventually one doesnt need the most of them in the daily routine anyway.
so for my needs the omnia 7 is pretty optimal, though i'm missing proper backlight settings, pause-function with the camcorder and some other little things, but i guess not too far in the future there will be a major update.
till then i'm satisfied with whats there..

bro if you are MS you will like to plug all the holes in your OS as well....
i dont think this time MS will like ppl to play with there OS as they did with WM OS...
as right now the NoDo is pushed in batches to individual devices, its not like last time you can go to HTC website and download a ROM and wala...
my pre update update was exactly 10 days late and i dont expect any thing less from NoDo as well...
Yeah I know. Providers have their share of the timing process as well. But it's possible to unbrand the Omnia7 and have a the NoDo Update direktly without any lag.

Locked Bootloader Motorola Atrix

Sorry I am a noob at android and i am trying to decide between which at&t phone i should choose. So does this locked bootloader thing set me back from customization for android phones?
Any other suggestions for at&t android phones i'm due for an upgrade june 2nd.
Bump?
Going crazy trying to figure out what android phone i want from at&t.
thanks in advance.
Yes, for now anyway. It means you cant install complete roms like CM7 or MIUI. The ones available are mostly themes. That said, there are multiple workarounds being worked on at the moment with good progress being made on them, so it probably wont be an issue before too long.
Personally, I'd go for the Atrix. Its still the best phone on AT&T from a raw horsepower perspective.
so eventually i will be able to unlock those custom roms, with that said if i get the device and root it what will be the extra features?

[Q] Customizing HTC Surround?

Well I'm getting my htc surround back, I got it taken away, but am getting it back having to pay for my own data... I've been out of the scene for a few months now. I always wanted to "jailbreak" or "unlock" whatever it's called in the wp7 world. I used to think it was chevron, but it never worked on my phone. With the new mango update out I don't see that anymore and I'm completely clueless as what to do now. Can someone lead me in the right direction with steps to help me going?
It still is called Chevron or Dev unlock. If you have Mango, then at this point, with HTC devices, you cannot unofficially dev unlock your device while on Mango. You have to go back to NoDo, unlock, and then update to Mango to keep the unlock.
Information and directions are all in the Development and Hacking forum. Please check there or do a search as it is all there.
i was unlock my htc 7 pro with this rom, its possible to deploy application, but i cant find solution on how to run with debugging.
DFT Rom
I have this phone I have followed every guide to get to mango and keep chevron unlock and NONE of them work on this device.
I would recommend if your phone supports it to flash the hspl thing in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195647
Then flash the rom in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255129
you will get to mango unlocked and its much faster then wasting your time fooling around with the u2b2 connection setup guides posting here, I am sure they work on other devices, but I have not been able to get them to work on my surround.
Mind you if the hspl thing and the DFT rom work for you the device is pretty damn sweet when all is said and done.

[Q] WiFi Tethering Carrier Free/Unlocked Omnia 7

Hi,
Apologies if this has been asked or explained somewhere before but I for the life of me cant find a direct answer to it.
I have a Carrier Free/Unlocked Samsung Omnia 7 which I love, but what would really top it off would be to use WiFi tethering like all the Android/IOS people i know.... (oh and a front facing camera, but that can wait)
I know that tethering is enabled by Carriers with the Mango update but as Im carrier free ROM the only thing i have found is the InterOP hack which for me I have already updated to the latest Samsung update which stops me from doing this. So my question is, is there a way I can get tethering without changing to a carrier ROM... I was under the impression having a carrier free ROM would be much better (in the past it has), but clearly in this instance its not... unless im missing something that i hoping someone can share with me Thanks in advance.
I know its Easter, but has anyone got any input on this. Thanks.
If you can flash your ROM with update that did not make the Interop Unlock Go away, you may have a chance.

Yeah, I saw the option to roll back my phone to a date prior to the last update, but i would loose everything i had put on it since then. Not ideal to flash my device, I think i'll just wait and get a new handset. Thanks for your reply.
