I have read a lot of threads and i get the impression that the GB ROMs are not and will not be fully stable until an OTA comes out, which as we know from VZs track record could be never. In any case, I am currently unrooted and running the leaked MR2 RUU. I absolutely LOVE it as it has rebooted on me once in a week or two. Being that some update will come out next week from VZ, I feel forced to root my phone. If I do, and want to keep this same level of stability it seems my only option is the froyo Eaton ROM based on MR2. Ideally I'd like to run GB, but with the instability and being that all of them have some known issue that isn't fixed, Froyo seems to be my only option atm. What would you all suggest? Thanks!
I have tried a lot of them. I have been stuck on the Thunderstick rom.
I have had no problems what so ever, but your mileage may vary. I am also on the mr2 radio, mr2.5 didn't play nice for me.
I have also been following what is going on at the3ry rom that would be the one I would jump to if I wasn't so happy were I am.
Just make the jump try them out and find what works best for you.
Try Das Bamf 2.1. It may have a bug or two but the thing is damn stable. I use it as my daily ROM. What issues were you hearing of?
Na man, try Gibgeritis muthafucka.

Thank you all, appreciate your responses. The problems I have been seeing range from wifi problems, to poor battery life, to reception problems with 4G, and interface/layout issues.
That sounds like the bugs CM has been having. AFAIK all the sense based GB ROMs are basically stable right now
You will have to decide (try) yourself. I am using Das BAMF sense 3 RC3. I have had no problems with it for the three days I've had it. WiFi works great, GPS great, I'll keep testing, but so far no problems.
I'm still on Bamf 2.0.v 5.. I haven't had any reboots or werid things ever. I'm new to rooting, I've only ever tried their time... From all the froyo up. Never had anything bothersome. Get about 29 hours with under clocking and juice defender

sense based GB ROMs dont have any of these problems (tried most, stuck on Gingervitis 3D v1.0 beta) and even CM7 when matched up with the right kernel (trial and error) is easily liveable as a daily driver. If you can live with the factory bugs rooted roms should be no problem. I dont get where the idea factory roms are issue free. Half the reason I installed froyo roms were to fix apps, GPS and other issues the factory software had built in. I havent had a random reboot yet since the developers got the kernels more stable or any other major issue and the rom is still a beta.
Das bamf 3.0 rc3 has been very stable for me everything works great and with rc4 around the corner its only going to get better

Hopped around to Various ROMs and have pretty much tried them all. My best ROM would be Gingeritis. Knowing that each phone will have it's own personality/just as the owner's do, I recommend to try them all and find what works best for you.
I have tried several of the GB roms, my issues have been more problems with the looks than the performance. I tried a few that had the clear button on the left, and one that had the transparent pull down and that just drove me nuts. I want just a plain on Sense 2.1 rom with GB. I don't need all the bells and whistles and graphics. Plain Sense and GB so I can use Netflix. Does anyone know of a plain ole Sense rom that is Gingerbread?

+1 I have enjoyed the ROM. Only issue I ever had was after modding my sense ring, I got a lot of reboots. Idk. Probably something I did.

bamf sense 3.0 rc4!!! so stable for me :]
Bamf 3.0 RC4 has been stable for me so far.
i'm on bamf 2.1 now, and my biggest complaint is that it does not provide voicemail notifications. I must restart the phone to see any voicemail notification. Do the other GB roms have this issue as well?
Okay just wondering i know that there is a new skype leak out that is said to work with thunderbolts running gingerbread...now this rom (Das BaMf sense 3.0 rc3) that i am speaking of, is that not a gingerbread based rom?
because of the radios we have to use? mc2 or mc2.5? so if i am right should the latest skype leak work with us using this rom on a thunderbolt?
if anyone could help me out i would love to hear back and some input on if it works or if it doesn't then why.?
Has anyone had an evo shift, which on 2.2 had problems, did 2.3.3 help any if not most of the problems on 2.2?
Like what are talking about? Anything in particular your looking for an answer on?
If you have 2.2 root it and run a custom rom and youll have no problems. If you were wondering about the sense reloading issue its still there. I had about 2 in all my months of owning a shift then i had to send it back cause it broke and now i have 2.3.3 and I've had about a dozen in a week. The stock messaging app still does that annoying thing where you type and it jumps all the way to the top of your texts also.
GB has had an issue with Sense reloads since release. You can try V6 SuperCharger for the reloads. I've used it, works on both stock and custom roms.
I did a full Odin of Gummy 1.9.1 on the very first boot when my phone was brand new. I also flashed the EP1Q modem and I use Launcher Pro Plus launcher.
I have never had a single problem with the setup, not one FC and the system is very smooth and fast. All my many apps etc work perfectly.
Now, having said all that the rest of this post will probably sound pretty stupid but I will ask it anyway.... ;-)
Even though it is the most perfectly running system I have ever owned, I am getting bored and feel like trying some different ROMs etc.....
I had GB installed in my old DroidX and figured I might as well try that in the Charge because I liked it and the battery life was very good. My question however is, if for some reason I am unhappy with the new ROM can I just Odin it straight back to gummy 1.9.1 and then restore my latest android BU and have the system revert to exactly the same state it is in right now??
~John
To clarify, I just made a full BU with CWM that I would restore immediately after doing the Odin of gummy 1.9.1

yes that's fine

Okay guys, so I have decided to sell my nexus s and get the samsung infuse 4g. Some questions I need to ask -
1) I read the specs and found that this phone didn't get the gingerbread upgrade. So if I root this phone and flash a 2.3.6 ROM, I can definitely upgrade it but will I get the TOUCHWIZ 4.0 launcher??
2) How good is the battery for you guys?

battery life is consistantly decent but not exceptional. as an example of what i mean. my captivate could go about 3 days if i ran it down completely but i could also run it down in one day with a lot of web browsing. my infuse seems to last longer under use but i never see the 60+ hours under light use like my captivate.
also you can run the tw 4.5 launcher with no modifications. there may need to be a framework mod and some .jar or .so files needed for the stock tw4 launcher. also not all the funtions of tw4.5 are 100%. lanscape mode can cause crashes last i used it. but if you stick to a conventional setup (4x4 home screen, no weird options) it works pretty good. but the infuse launcher seems to be needed for hdmi support at least on froyo. i havent changed it on 2.3.6 to test it yet. if you dont want hdmi you can run a custom kernel built off 2.3.3 rogers sources with few issues and any launcher you want.
