Has anyone had an evo shift, which on 2.2 had problems, did 2.3.3 help any if not most of the problems on 2.2?
Like what are talking about? Anything in particular your looking for an answer on?
If you have 2.2 root it and run a custom rom and youll have no problems. If you were wondering about the sense reloading issue its still there. I had about 2 in all my months of owning a shift then i had to send it back cause it broke and now i have 2.3.3 and I've had about a dozen in a week. The stock messaging app still does that annoying thing where you type and it jumps all the way to the top of your texts also.
GB has had an issue with Sense reloads since release. You can try V6 SuperCharger for the reloads. I've used it, works on both stock and custom roms.

I've put off rooting for a long time because I don't really need anything else from my phone, but waiting for the gingerbread update is getting a little old. I'd like to Root my Inspire and try out gingerbread and sense 3.0 instead of sense 2.1
Since the leak has already happened for the Inspire's 2.3 update, are there any good reputable ROMs out there that I won't have any trouble with? I don't want to have to deal with GPS not working, or no MMS, or having to do this or that to keep everything working. If I'm going to Root my phone, I don't want to have to worry about constant force closes or features of the phone not working. Are there any new GB 2.3 roms with sense 3 that can do this? I want it to be an Inspire GB rom, not an old Desire HD GB rom.
Thank you!
Since this thread will more than likely be closed soon, I will just say that they are all very good and stable. You might see an occasional issue but they get fixed quickly. The most stable and best rom will be the one that works well for your taste and needs. Like I said, there are a lot of great choices out there. If you don't like it, move on to the next one. That's what we do.
Any first ROM suggestions? I see that cyogen 7 rom posted all the time.
I have pretty much tried them all and I have my favorites. For Sense roms try Android Revolution, Virtuous Unity, and even the newer Stardroid rom is turning out very nicely. For AOSP roms try Adam's Ninja rom or CM7.
Try each one and make up your own mind.

I am having a problem with Tbolt on GB. Every few minutes the dialer will come up while browsing the phone. I can be doing anything. It has happened with Liquid Gingersense, Gingeritis, and Gingeritis 3D. I have used the stock radio as well as the two newest leaks but I can't see how the radio would effect that.
I have posted in the bugs section of those roms with no response. Anyone else seeing anything similar or can suggest a fix?
SO I rooted my wifes Inspire 4g like 4 months ago and didn't do much of anything with it after the fact. No new kernel, no rom cooks or such. All stock other than a few choice root access apps.
She got a notification that their is a new update ( assuming the sense update and such) but she went to accept the update it hung in a godless limbo until she told me what happened and I did a battery pull.
SO the question is, why is this?
Is their a stock newest firmware/rom for the inspire with built in root and maybe an overclocked kernel that I can put on the phone for her. She wants her phone to run like it did out of the box with the HTC widgets but with all the updates.
Can anyone gimme some info........
You don't want to do an over the air update since your phone is not stock. It will break your root and may cause other problems. Turn off software check in menu/about phone, or decline any OTA updates. There are plenty of roms to choose from in the development section. You just need to decide which one you like.
If you're looking for a rom that is close to stock (since you stated your wife wants it to run like it did out of the box), I'll assume she doesn't want sense. Cleardroid was a great rom when I used it, but I like the sense components and have switched to ARHD (see signature). You'll have to check and see if Cleardroid allows for OC/UV and all that stuff.

You're confusing me. ClearDroid has Sense. It is Sense 2.1, but it is Sense. I do believe you were talking about Sense 3.0 or 3.5 (I have not used Android Revolution even though it was the first ROM I downloaded). But I agree that ClearDroid is a great ROM.

Cleardoid is the only Rom left, that I know of, that is still supported and uses the latest htc inspire update as a base(2.47.502.7). And yes it does and always has had sense, just like stock inspire. The only difference in the newer sense roms is the new lock screen and widgets are a little revamped. Other than that it looks just like stock inspire sense. The latest gingerbread update from htc comes with an annoying bug where contacts don't show in your messaging app, just the numbers. You have to tap the number and it takes you to the contact where you have to select a default widget action and that contacts name will show up for that single contact. Once you restart you phone though you have to start back over. I am not sure if cleard has fixed this on the cleardroid Rom. The inspire will probably never be updated past sense 2.1 by htc but there are plenty of custom roms with 3.0 and 3.5. Also the latest gingerbread version from htc is 2.3.3 where customs are at 2.3.4 - 2.3.7.
Honestly though if your wife wants it to run like out of the box I would just install cleardroids latest stable froyo build. The HTC gingerbread update brings better battery life and a quick notifications tab and maybe some other less interesting options, but it has many bugs that I have encountered that I do not like.

RumRunner 3 uses the same base.....jus sayin
Ah yes, my apologies, rumrunner version 3 is 2.47.502.7 as well.
I suppose there are probably some other devs that have used this base in older versions, but I think they have all moved on to newer bases by now.

Ahh my apologies, I tend to not be very clear sometimes..it seems however that everyone beat me to it so like everyone has said..Cleardroid seems to be the best option if you want it to look/run just like it was out of the box. I've used Cleardroid and it was a nice rom, I didn't have any issues but I really like the sense 3 components for some reason so my taste drifts towards those roms...
Thanks all of you. I decided on ARHD for her phone and she is digging it.
Peace
We switched to Verizon a few years ago and I got a Fascinate (That was running MIUI). Wife and I left because they got rid of unlimited data, I had this Captivate in a box that I just broke out a few days ago and we went to Straight Talk. However it is running Eclair. I would like to root it and possibly put Gingerbread or a stable rom. I've been browsing the forum looking for an easy way to root and find a stock Gingerbread Rom, or something that is really stable as I could use it as a daily driver. IS the CM9 Rom pretty stable?

CM9 is rock solid, I use CM10 without any issues as well. My preference goes to CM10. I would suggest taking a look at the sticky'ed topics, they are a great resource for guides and how to's!
For example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350266
I will take a look at that then.
I've enjoyed running the Cappy port of Paranoid Android JB, which is based on CM10.
Third response and third suggestion for a rom but I also have to give props to SlimBean. Just installed SlimBean 2.2 and so far it's beautiful. I definitely suggest reading the install process thoroughly because if you aren't used to flashing a lot of roms some things can happen during this flash that might freak you out. Besides that and a couple little feature additions (by that I mean toggle buttons I would like to see) it's beautiful and is the first version of Jelly Bean that I've been able to pull of any sort of overclocking without getting immediate reboots.
I ran the 2.2 release for many days until I got tired of not having Google Now, the trick I found in it is to long press the menu button, but I couldn't find a way to remap the search key in hardware keys. So now I'm back on 2.1 until they put out a patch to fix the search key. I'm watching that site and the related posts here like a hawk.

If you haven't installed a custom ROM yet, you can check out the recent thread created by Klitoni where I gave him some simple instructions.

I've been playing around with my friend's Infuse after fixing the power button/boot loop issue. I did flash it to CM11, though it did run beautifully, found there were issues with the video recorder (choppy). I brute forced it back (an epic battle with the AT&T logo loop) to rooted GB stock with Zen's Synthesis kernal and CWM.
I'm looking for the most stable rom that doesn't have camera issues. From what I was reading that it is hit or miss from ICS and up. Should I just leave it as is? I'm thinking about flashing a GB rom like Aeon or Revenant. The biggest complaint with this phone was battery drain, so I got all of the bloat off with Titanium.
I'm asking because my friend needs a daily driver with no problems--she doesn't know how to fix things if something arises.

I found CarbonROM to be less buggy than Beanstalk 4.4.2 or CM 10.1, but then again, I didn't extensively run/test it like the others, including the camcorder. I did hear that you cannot do HD recording with it. If that is a problem, should stick with stock Gingerbread.
Lollipop may change things, but Eclipse does use Froyo as a baseline for software requirements by default. It may be GB now, but even then you would be safe for a year until Android 5.1 comes out (Gingerdeath won't happen overnight).
Thanks!
I'm more apt to stick as close to stock as possible on other people's devices because we all know strange things can and do happen. But I just couldn't help myself trying to update it as far as possible. I'll see how she feels about the HD recording and take it from there.
