I have read a lot of threads and i get the impression that the GB ROMs are not and will not be fully stable until an OTA comes out, which as we know from VZs track record could be never. In any case, I am currently unrooted and running the leaked MR2 RUU. I absolutely LOVE it as it has rebooted on me once in a week or two. Being that some update will come out next week from VZ, I feel forced to root my phone. If I do, and want to keep this same level of stability it seems my only option is the froyo Eaton ROM based on MR2. Ideally I'd like to run GB, but with the instability and being that all of them have some known issue that isn't fixed, Froyo seems to be my only option atm. What would you all suggest? Thanks!
I have tried a lot of them. I have been stuck on the Thunderstick rom.
I have had no problems what so ever, but your mileage may vary. I am also on the mr2 radio, mr2.5 didn't play nice for me.
I have also been following what is going on at the3ry rom that would be the one I would jump to if I wasn't so happy were I am.
Just make the jump try them out and find what works best for you.
Try Das Bamf 2.1. It may have a bug or two but the thing is damn stable. I use it as my daily ROM. What issues were you hearing of?
Na man, try Gibgeritis muthafucka.

Thank you all, appreciate your responses. The problems I have been seeing range from wifi problems, to poor battery life, to reception problems with 4G, and interface/layout issues.
That sounds like the bugs CM has been having. AFAIK all the sense based GB ROMs are basically stable right now
You will have to decide (try) yourself. I am using Das BAMF sense 3 RC3. I have had no problems with it for the three days I've had it. WiFi works great, GPS great, I'll keep testing, but so far no problems.
I'm still on Bamf 2.0.v 5.. I haven't had any reboots or werid things ever. I'm new to rooting, I've only ever tried their time... From all the froyo up. Never had anything bothersome. Get about 29 hours with under clocking and juice defender

sense based GB ROMs dont have any of these problems (tried most, stuck on Gingervitis 3D v1.0 beta) and even CM7 when matched up with the right kernel (trial and error) is easily liveable as a daily driver. If you can live with the factory bugs rooted roms should be no problem. I dont get where the idea factory roms are issue free. Half the reason I installed froyo roms were to fix apps, GPS and other issues the factory software had built in. I havent had a random reboot yet since the developers got the kernels more stable or any other major issue and the rom is still a beta.
Das bamf 3.0 rc3 has been very stable for me everything works great and with rc4 around the corner its only going to get better

Hopped around to Various ROMs and have pretty much tried them all. My best ROM would be Gingeritis. Knowing that each phone will have it's own personality/just as the owner's do, I recommend to try them all and find what works best for you.
I have tried several of the GB roms, my issues have been more problems with the looks than the performance. I tried a few that had the clear button on the left, and one that had the transparent pull down and that just drove me nuts. I want just a plain on Sense 2.1 rom with GB. I don't need all the bells and whistles and graphics. Plain Sense and GB so I can use Netflix. Does anyone know of a plain ole Sense rom that is Gingerbread?

+1 I have enjoyed the ROM. Only issue I ever had was after modding my sense ring, I got a lot of reboots. Idk. Probably something I did.

bamf sense 3.0 rc4!!! so stable for me :]
Bamf 3.0 RC4 has been stable for me so far.
i'm on bamf 2.1 now, and my biggest complaint is that it does not provide voicemail notifications. I must restart the phone to see any voicemail notification. Do the other GB roms have this issue as well?

Thinking about rooting my phone. Was going to start flashing away but really want to know how you guys feel about each rom.
Which is most stable? And has least bugs?
Was it worth going away from stock gingerbread?

I have used CM7 A3, Bionix 1.2. and MoDaCo r8. They are all mostly stable with sporadic issues.
They don't offer much beyond stock at this point but in the near future you will see some great improvements.
Lastly its a matter of personal preference. I like MoDaCo the best because of stability and after Paul is done with the kernel optimizations, it will be rock solid and fast.
Root and try them all, you can always go back to stock and unroot but I doubt you will .
Thanks. So far I've tried modaco and cm7. I liked modaco better buying terms of stability, I think ill stick with stock for now.

another vote for Bionix w/o Trinity
Im going to have to put a vote in for Cyanogen....at this time i have yet to find a custom kernel that works with it, but give it time
MoDaCo def at the moment
Been a CM from the moment it was available and constantly improved on nexus one. At the time being however with the nexus S line, even though there isnt anything vastly different between Stock NS and these 2 roms; MoDaCo takes the cake based on a great stability and battery life. got 1d 14 hours. on a 1440mah. incredible. CM7 has just too much open problems. Not that i wouldnt be surprised, THEY ARE ALL INSANE ALPHA/BETA roms. but yeah, modaco has got some great stability.
im just waiting for cm7 to fix following issues:
-no re-up on lost signal coming out of a subway, have to reboot to get anything back
-power widget on 2g/3g does not work properly, can only move down to 2g and nothing else
-airplane mode is straight up wierd.
-lots of random reboots
Vote for your current ROM!
I realize that this will probably change but I was just curious as to how many of you use which ROM.
If I missed one.. Let me know?

I'm pretty sure it was more of a "if you can live with it you can" type thing. I've been using it constantly since slayher released it and have had no problems. granted im not in a 4g area and dont use wifi, bluetooth, or gps (in college) but data has worked great, calls, sms, etc all work great!

Was running CM7, but I had some serious issues with a few rather important calls(doh), so I flashed back to Das Bamf. I'll definitely be all about some CM7 once nightlies start rolling.
I've been using it since it hot the forum. Its got little things buggy still, but much better than most all other ROMs as far as random reboots. I haven't had any freezes or reboots. All my calls have came through. Its a daily driver for me.

Now running with 100% more CM7 THUNDERKANG - "I love the smell of KANG in the morning" Edition.
Was on BAMF until this morning (Best of the Sense ROMs, no doubt), switched to CM7 pre-alpha, Thunderkang flavor.
Yeah if anyone knows if its possible to add options to a poll let me know...
For now I guess for thunderkang just vote for CM7.. its baaasically the same!
Once MIUI and CM7 have officially released theirs and possibly others come along I'll just make a new poll because I'm sure things will change drastically at that time.

Its mostly Perfect
Been using Perfect Storm and have had a great time with it so far. Rarely any issues, unless 4g is down or slow in the area. Which is, unfortunately, too often so far.
I have used every single rom listed above, and the one I have stuck with is The Perfect Storm. But I am sure that once Miui is out, that will be my rom of choice.i used Miui for the motorola droid and loved it.
I have tried several roms but i keep going back to The Perfect Storm. I have never had any major issues with it and things that do need tweaking are always being worked on. I want to try CM but it is in too early in development for my tastes. I will eventually try it but probably return to The Perfect Storm.
im debating trying a GB rom now that a good radio is leaked. what rom is the Most stable with good battery life?
Bamf 2.05 beta. I have had too many problems with Gingeritis and the Sense 3 preview seems a little slow compared to previous bamf ROM's.
one thing i really would love to have is the sense 3.0 SMS mms app. i like the looks SO much better.
is there any way to flash that to 1.7?
I'm running Th3oryOfGinger and I'm loving it. I tried Gingeritis before but the experience wasn't smooth enough for me.
BAMF all day! I am running the remix and it's as solid as anything else I've ever run. Those guys really know what they're doing and offer great add-ons and options for every rom they build....you can't go wrong with a BAMF!
I tried das bamf and gingeritis and no problems with either of them for me so far. gingeritis does seem pretty quick to me tho, possibly faster than das bamf. thinking of trying TOG next.
Since my Droid1 ive stuck with Liquid Roms and they're solid.
bamf but the one with the sense 3,running a little smoother,as soon as the preview is over and the final hits you bolt will fly

Gingeritis with Elegant Blues theme rocks!
Up in the air
Ive had some issues with Th3royOfGinger especially with lack of 3g/4g and still cant figure out how to get the usb mass storage to work after flashing. Tempted to try BAMF as I was running 1.7 before going to ginger.
Gingiritis looks great and ran pretty good on my Thunderbolt. A little laggy for some reason, not sure why :/ Battery life was good though and charging seemed to be normal. New 1.0 release looks very promising, I will be flashing that for sure.
Theory of droid's newest candy 3.0 release is really smooth. It's super trimmed from bloat and runs like butter on my phone. Too soon to comment on battery life though.
Bamf 2.05 beta is a great ROM. camera lags a bit but that is the only issue I have experienced. No more random reboots with the new GB radio, LOVE IT! Also it picks up better signal and faster GPS lock.
Bamf 2.0-5!!!! Ftw
thunderbolt
My DAS BAMF 2.0 with the new radio is ROCKIN'!! .... Best experience i've had on the bolt... And my signal is the best its been since I got the phone... Runs great and is smooth as silk
none as they all can brick your phone
Ive run bolth this week and tried all the diffrent rom and kernel combos im running gingeritis with dream kernel 2.0.2 what are you guys running and what have you like abt each rom and what havent you.
i've run the froyo bamf and gingeritis and i have to say that gingeritis is a much better rom. Butch and Mik are both crazy amazing rom crafters but from the way both roms work i see that bamf roms are a bit advanced for my liking, gingeritis has the right amount of stock apps and extra apps installed on a clean flash and allow me to use the superuser from the market without and hassle.
I love both roms but my preferance is mik's roms and right now gingeritis is where i will stay until i feel i want to move to CM7. I think everyone should be working towards getting to know your thunderbolt and slowly working their way to CM7 by trying out different roms and learning adb, fastboot, cmr, and theming
Theoryofginger is making some serious headway with users may take a look at that.
Gingeritis is excellent but the transparent pull down can be difficult to read at times.

+1 for Gingerth3ory. I downloaded the 4.0 test build and it is rock solid, quick and pretty good battery life for Gingerbread. I've flashed many roms and this one is my current favorite.
I've tried th3ory as well but I seemed to have quick battery heat up on that Rom I'm not sure why but I've noticed my phone getting allot hotter lately can't figure out why
I was on the froyo Bamf since it came out. Went Briefly to BAMF GB and personally it was buggy (and to a point still is). No disrespect to butch, I heard he go injured on the job and his hands are full.
Gingeritis I waited until the final came out and went with the same dream kernel. For me it has been problem free, much like BAMF's froyo rom. Not as many bells and whistles, but it is stable.
My final decision was based on reading the last few pages of each roms posts, seeing what the main complaints were. You can do the same and see if those complaints you can live with or is too much to deal with. Either way both ROMS are basically beta's, so there will issues until the official GB release comes out.
i would have to throw in bamf3.0 preview4 it is by far the best rom i have ever ran, just wipe 3x before installing. sense 3.0 is beastly, you should definitively take a look at it. i have tried other roms out but i always end up back on bamf
Another for Gingerth3ory. Loaded the 4.0 release last night with the Rapist kernel and enabled the ability to drop to 184MHz... Battery life so far is the best I've seen so far, and the whole system runs silky smooth. (I was running the beta of gingeritis until I switched to th3ory 2 weeks ago)
+1 Bamf
I'm on Bamf 2.0-5, and haven't found a reason to switch out yet. Fast, Stable, and only one major bug at this point (sometimes recharges slowly until you restart).

Honestly if you try all the GB roms, they all buggy. I liked remix GB the best though was as quick as Gingerbean and gingerbean IS LEAN and pretty sensless so thats an achievement by BAMF to say the least. Those are the only 2 I liked. Have not tried theory yet but been reading on it alot.
They all buggy though I can't stay on GB... everytime i flash its cool for like first day or 2 then weird **** happens. Phone always runs hotter and battery is just unpredictable.
I test the BAMF 2.0.5 and Remix to , now i run Liquid Gingersense v1.1 with Nerozehl's dreamKernel 2-0-3 meantime best result and very stable
I've tried both and frankly everything else and I always go back to Gingeritis.

Gingeritis with Neo's latest, running Rapist extreme mod = win.
BAMF GB pr4 for me and it works like a charm understanding there are somethings that are still being worked on. Can't wait for pr5 which I hear is being built with a new base from the ground up so keep your eyes peeled back for that one peeps.
I personally run Gingeritis over BAMF because of the transparent market and auto-rotate toggle within the status bar. miss the bamf toolkit tho

If you're looking for a more aesthetic ROM then I'd go with MIUI (im assuming that's what you meant). If you're looking for functionality and stability I'd go with cyanogenmod. MIUI is based off of cyanogenmod although it's not as stable. Also if you prefer the stock vanilla android experience CM7 is closer to stock than MIUI.
miui still needs work, iv had problems starting from rebooting while in call and battery life is not to great.
cm7 is the more stable never had a reboot and battery life one time lasted 1 day 15hrs!
I'm the opposite. MIUI has been very good to me in performance, stability, and battery life. CM7 reboots and has horrid APN problems for me. Just my experience though. In general they are both great ROMs.
Try both and see what you like!
MIUI is only at its early stages of development thus this ROM looks promising. On the other hand, Cm7 will just get better and better. I've tried both and I can say CM7'S latest releases have been really snappy, together wirh the wonderful work of great DEVS its just gonna bring out the best of G2X/NVIDIA TEGRA
Should make the distinction that I was talking about the Whitehawkx's MIUI port. Way more stable than the alpha2 in the dev section.
The only problem I ever had with minuit was really sloe GPS. Which is something I NEED. So that was a buzz kill

Did you try the gingerbread gps fix? I just delete my old gps data and redownloaded and it locks just as fast as froyo
Yea I'm with regP Miui has been really good to me, cm7 was good also but I just prefer Miui with ease to customize it.
Hope that helped.....

Miui is based off CM7.
CM7 is more stock like but with additional features and functions built in.
Miui has a iPhone feel.
I think MIUI was built by the Chinese to make cheap iPhone clones that were actually androids. The software became popular and flourished. It has come a long way since I used it last.
I actually have an up to date CM7 build as my daily driver, saves as a Nandroid backup... as well as the latest MIUI. I have both saved and can restore from CWM to go back and forth.
MIUI is still new for the G2x and has some kinks. I hear an official release will be soon. It works pretty well, in my experience, but has some problems keeping a cellular data connection that requires a reboot. CM7 went through the same growing pains and has overcome that problem so it is only a matter of time before MIUI does the same.

I agree miui looks sweet but until they fix the issues with data and wifi I'd go with cm tons and tons of support for cm vs. Little support for miui .... just my 2ยข
"If Satan lived in heaven he'd be me... "
whats gingerbread gps fix?
I have been running MIUI 1.7.26 and have not had any of the issues that other people are having. Wifi works great and so does cell data. Also, GPS locks within seconds for me.
The only issue I have is that wifi calling is not working. This is a know issue though and will be fixed today.
Oh, one other thing to mention, I am running the newest G2x Baseband so that may have something to do with it.
