[Q] Why Samusng GS2 wins over HTC Sensation ? I'm going crazy - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I'm really going crazy!
I sold my iPhone 4 recently and now I can't decide which phone I'm going to buy.
I hate The Galaxy S2 TouchWiz, I didn't leave iPhone world to get that hell, My android geek friend is saying that I'll be able to change the GUI to any one else using an app.
I tried galaxy s 2 that belongs to a friend and it's :
1. looks bad, difficult to control because the Display is almost 99% of the front .
2. TouchWiz is the worst GUI I've ever seen in my life, they tried to stole the iPhone GUI but they failed.
3. There were a very classic game running in the background and I opened another extremely simple game with no 3d or massive motion or any king of high quality content and it hanged , The task manager told us that it was using a lot of CPU, My iPhone was capable of running a 700MB game like Real Racing 2 while running another 15 Apps in Background, and the display was Retina while I can see a lot of pixels in the Samsung.
The point is where is the "super" part in the damn samsung ?????
I really want to buy the best phone in the market and those two are the best and available phones in Egypt, I don't care about NFC it's not available here.
I really like The HTC Sense GUI and I'd like to buy a phone that I smile when I look to it, the Most important things to care about are :
1. The internal memory ( GS2 16 GB , Sensation 1 GB ) , is this memory where you download apps ? will it be available to download and install +1 GB of apps on the sensation ?
2. GS2 is better according to GSMarena's review, is this noticeable ?
3. the Ram difference.
please tell me what do you think.
thanks

I just plainly prefer HTC phones, myself. I checked out the Sensation and found it to be excellent. It's HTC's new flagship phone. I have the previous flagship HTC phone, the Inspire 4G/DesireHD, and it is a purely superb device. It works so well and Sense 2 is a genuine pleasure. Sense 3 in the Sensation is even more of a pure pleasure.
You can certainly install other UIs in the SGS2, but they won't be native to the phone like TouchWiz is. With the Sensation, Sense 3 is native. You would have a most outstanding and pleasurable phone right out of the box.

Sounds like you already know what you want.
I hate touchwiz however I like samsung phones. Mine has the Darky rom installed and I use other launchers to change the ui.
I'm not a sense fan but you can make it look like sense if you want.
The memory its very important to me. Some games like say Gun bros etc... Have additional large downloads and I store a lot of music.
I run many apps and the processor is great and had never failed or hung.
Since switching to the new rom, my battery has lasted 24 hours and is only half used. I am a heavy user of the phone

Please I want more opinions and anyone to answer the remaining questions

I guess I have a simple question:
What game was running? Where was it from? Any person could make a poorly coded app that doesn't utilize resources correctly all.
The GS2 is a powerhouse of a device, much moreso than the iPhone4. From what I understand the iPhone doesn't do any true multitasking either, not at least like Android - I may be wrong - but I thought it more like pseudo multitasking like what WP7 was to utilize.

Iphone 4 vs Captivate

Which you guys think is better and Why? Please share
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
WTF dude? Why post this on the Captivate forum? This debate is tired already. I use a Captivate not an I Phone.
iPhone 4. It's got the 3g and the wifis
Posting it on the captivate forum is not gonna be biased at all.....
there was already a thread from a guy that was doing a debate for school asking for good arguments, and another comparison thread. search it.
android is a better thought out os but it has its problems. the captivate has a better gpu. they both have great screens, i like the amoled, but the iphone is is brighter which is good in the sunlight, iphone is better resolution which is good if you hold the phone close to your face but it may be overkill, i feel like the captivate could have better pixel density. neither is bad but if you want sugestions it depends on priorities.
how important is insurance?
will you want to video chat?
do you have friends with front facing cameras on there phones especially other iphone 4's or use webcams often?
do you take pics at night? captivate night mode is sometimes better in surprisingly dim light or for objects that are lighted at night but with no flash the camera is sometimes useless for portraits in a dark club setting or total darkness. led flash is only useful for portraits but if that's important to you then you might want an iphone.
how are you with a touchscreen? can you type on an iphone? swype is a good alternative to a keyboard.
do you use widgets? there are none on the iphone.
do you want to theme your phone?
do you like broken glass that cuts your fingers? slip on covers trap dirt that scratches the glass. scratches are stress risers and the glass breaks!
i can go on, but i think you already know what you like and can find out the information.
Well currently I have xperia x10 android phone and love it how customisable it is. Even you jailbreak Iphone you can't customize barely anything. Then apple release new firmwire and devs make more jailbreak. The only thing I want Iphone 4 is for apps and games and fps games. The reason I did vs Captivate. If Captivate can handle games like Iphone 4?
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
Better question: Why are you posting in the Captivate forum about this when you use an X10?
And if the games were made for Android, then they would play just as well, if not better then the iPhone4.

better!
galaxy s can handle games better than any other. g2 and mytouch 4g are the fastest phones but galaxy s has a better gpu.
get a captivate, root it, get samsung apps, temperarily change the build.prop to the gt i9000 build.prop and download asphalt 5. change build.prop back to stock. play asphalt 5. this is a version of asphalt 5 built for a galaxy s, the version number is lower than the one on the gameloft website because gameloft took out some of the open gl features so that the evo and driod x could run it better!
you will see better lighting effects and better framerates with this version on a galaxy s than the one on there website.
better andriod games will come soon and show off the galaxy s capabilities. there is a small number of high quality 3d fps games on the market because one device that doesnt sell as well as others isnt enough push for development. now that the g2 and mytouch 4g are close in the gpu area and many new phones will come soon there is likely to be some amazing new games coming out. especially from gameloft.
I think the Captivate's interface is better, even though Apple has a reputation for having better usability.
With iOS, Apple is surely lagging. Android OS is much better. The bugs people talk about just aren't there for me - they have been resolved. I also use beta ROMS, etc.
On to hardware. Honestly the touchscreen misses my intended target 1/100 times, with the iPhone 3GS it always registered what I wanted to click. I know 1/100 sounds small, but it bothers me.
Last part is third party software / hardware. iPhone has more docks, etc. Captivate has next to none. For the best apps - if it is on the iPhone, then it is on the Android. However, they are lagged. For instance, the iPhone Navigon app is farther advanced than the android Navigon app.
There ya have it.

From a phone on an app
What made the decision for me was the freedom the phone gave me. You could either have a phone where steve jobs dictates how ur phone is going to be, like it our not, or go with a phone that supports customization. I know a few people with galaxy s phones, and the beauty about them is, if you pick em up they look very different. With different launchers and widgets, you truly have more customization. And the beauty of widgets is your can get information without ever opening app. And there's swype.

Hacked Captivate >> Jailbroken iPhone 4 >>>>>>>>>>>>> iPhone 4 >>>> Stock Captivate
I have 2 or each on my AT&T plan.
Both are good choices, and wouldn't diss either one. Each go about what they do differently, and neither are perfect for everybody or everything.
My wife and I use the Captivates..both my sons use the 32 gig I 4 phones. We all like what they do and how they do it..so it really is a personal choice on what you get. Can you get bad ones of each..certainly..I've already had to have both of the I-phones go back already due to bad sim cards..so..nothing is perfect. Both of my Captivates are from the September build, and both have worked great.
All 4 of us are happy with them..I am happy with the Captivates, and am glad I can change it around easier than the I-phones..my sons are happy since they have used i-pods and i-tunes since they first came out. Both phones sound great..both look great..both give excellent call quality.
To me the biggest differences is the price of the phones. For next to nothing you can get a Captivate on a 2 year contract..not so with the I-phone.Another big difference is how much storage you can have with the Captivate. You can swap out the sd card and have tons of storage..you can't do that with the I-phone.
Look at all of the differences..and all of the applications and games you want to use.Go with the one you feel will suit your needs..and don't base it on other peoples needs.Lastly...If you want to be able to change things around and truely customize it easily..the I-phone may not be your best choice. If you just want a phone and keep it the way it is..then the I-phone may be the best choice. Then again..if none of this is applicable to you..you may just prefer how one looks and feels over the other and base it on that when you go to get it .Like I said..it is a personal choice than anything else since neither is 100% perfect.
Mac
^^^Like him, I have a Captivate and my son & daughter have Iphone 4's. After visiting my daughter and playing with her Iphone 4 I noticed 2 things that gripe me: 1) The Iphone 4 can orient google maps in a "heads up" mode..and 2) The iphone 4 can pinch to zoom in the gmail app. Being an android (made by google right?), I'm amazed that our Captivate can't do that..especially #2. My 50+ eyes really have a hard time with the tiny font in the gmail app...and there's no way to increase it -in 2.1 at least

Switch to SGS2?

I have still 10 days to switch from this phone to any other one I chose. I did not even know HTC locked to bootloader for this phone when I got it
I HATE, PURE HATE htc sense but I thought cyanogenmod would help to get rid of it
Reading allot on the forum it looks like the unlocked bootloader can take months and months before htc releases it. And I can't take that long with htc sense
Any of you also think switching to the cheap plasticy samsung galaxy s2 just because it has unlocked/cracked bootloader?
I am still hoping htc will release the unlocked botoloader this week, otherwise I am back to ****ty samsung
I understand people who don't like HTC Sense, but what I don't understand is why not just put a different launcher on the phone (ADW, LP, Go, etc.), disable any HTC sync services, remove any HTC widgets and if you're really picky, put on an alternate lock screen.
I get that people like running Cyanogen because it's a "clean" Android build, but to me it's not that big of a deal. Not to mention, people always say Android has decent memory management. If you're not running any HTC-based apps, Android should manage that memory they use properly and set it as a lower priority than anything else you're running.
Everyone has their opinions, so I'm sure this is all based on preference. To answer your question though, it's all up to you. There are flaws with every device out there, so you really have to pick the lesser of two evils I guess.
HTC Sense takes over 500mb in ram just by idle. And clean android takes about 150mb ram running idle.
Sense takes allot of battery power even when you don't use it all.
Shame on HTC for encrypting the crap out of this phone...

Sense doesn't utilize 500 mb in idle state, I guarantee you this. Be patient, change the launcher, the phone is still great stock. I assure you it's better than SGS2 with the god awful Samsung software, their developers can't write decent firmware for their amazing hardware.

free means not used.
in the used section you should probably have something telling you how much is used for buffers.. add that amount up to the amount free and you should get the real amount of available ram.
also, did you install other apps, are you using widgets.. info info info.

Your comment is irresponsible: do you even haven an SGSII? I have both the Sensation AND the SGSII. I can tell you this: TouchWiz 4.0 is light years better than Sense 3.0. It runs quite smoothly --I didn't even bother installing LauncherPro, which is what I'd done on my 5 other Android phones (the Milestone, the Desire Z, the SGS, the Xperia Arc and the LG Optimus 2X) -- and TW4 certainly doesn't take up as much memory bandwidth as Sense 3.0 does.
Also, you're saying: "be patient with the Sensation, just put a new launcher because SGSII's UI is crap." Ummm... you can also change TouchWiz 4.0, if you want! "Crappy" UI solved.
Please don't jump to conclusions based on stuff you just read somewhere (it pays not to take everything at face value) or because you had a bad experience with another device from the same manufacturer. Also, if you really have a jones for a particular device, just say it. We don't advice that borders on blatant fanboy-ism here. We get enough of that from the Apple fanboys on Engadget.
Anyway, in response to the OP: I have few complaints with the SGSII so far, which is more than I can say for the Sensation. To be sure, the Sensation's build quality is wonderful, it feels solid in hand, in contrast with the build of the SGSII, which feels a bit flimsy -- and I can see the attraction of the Sense 3.0 lockscreen. I am very partial to the stock lockscreen and stock widgets, which is why I've stuck with SenseUI even though it's still too rough.
Meanwhile, the Sensation's display looks washed out and the main Sense 3.0 launcher jitters between screens. Its one bright spot is that, because of its higher resolution, text looks great. That said, higher resolution or otherwise, the Sensation's display can't hold a candle to the SGSII's Super AMOLED Plus display. Heck, the Sensation's display isn't even as good as the SGS's!
What's more, you'd think HTC would have made it possible to customize the functionality of the right and left launcher buttons by now. Instead, we're stuck with that ridiculous "personalize" button. I have no idea why they won't allow customization of those two buttons. I really hope they provide a way to unlock the device's bootloader soon.
Meanwhile -- and like I've already said -- TouchWiz 4.0 actually runs very smoothly. In real world usage on my SGSII, it's about as smooth as LauncherPro, which surprised me quite a bit. Up until I'd gotten the SGSII, I'd made it a habit to buy LPPro Plus for each of my devices. Not anymore. Also, you can customize the app drawer and arrange the apps to suit your preferences. Likewise, many of the stock widgets can be resized. It's a huge improvement that's been implemented by Samsung and they deserve some recognition for that, not derision.
If I had to choose between the 2 devices, I'd definitely go with the SGS. Really, about the only area where HTC is better is how solidly it's built. This isn't to say the Sensation is a bad device -- it's my 2nd favorite android device after the SGSII (and is certainly MUCH better than the O2X) -- it's just that it leaves too much to be desired.

me too thinking of swithing to galaxy s II... firstly bad about this phone is that whenever i use the web browser or just play usual games like angry birds the phone gets hotter... secondly of the speaker on sensation phone is too soft people call me i can barely hear it is ringing... and of course the locked bootloader... that's just my opinion on this phone... and the touchscreen lag... at times...
What's the point of asking this question in the Sensation forum? Obviously people will take offense. Ask it in the SGSII forum if you want to reaffirm your decision or whatever.

Hi i own a Sgs 2 for one month and i just bought me a Sensation as a second phone, my personal opinion is that the Sgs 2 is much better than the sensation in terms of speed/smoothness throughout the whole software, Tw 4.0 vs Sense 3.0, video codec support, Battery life, Camera, Super Amoled Plus vs Slcd, Speaker volume, More Stable. The sensation wins in the design department (for me), Heavier (feels better) and thats my personal opinion cheers

I don't buy things I hate..... Just some personal advice
Plus if you didn't know it had a locked bootloader, then with all due respect, you didn't do any research before you made a big purchase.

Sense is not only UI.... Contacts / Mail / Messages / Weather / SW Tweaks / Notifications / Exchange integration (company work) ........ Are between... mmmm.... let's say 2 or 3 million times better than samsung or stock sw....
This is far better than SGS2 in terms of usability... and really close in the rest....
Second....
My Sense FLY...
Third....
Is up to everybody to buy one thing or another.... 99% of the people with the sensation are really happy... and If U have the last rom it runs even better (fast fast fast...)
Fourth....
Smooth effect != Fast....
For example
Case 1:
- Press button
- Instant WOW !!! Effect
- 4 secs
- App opened
Total 4 secs + a WOW !!
Case 2:
- Press button
- Simpler effect or no effect (1 sec)
- Instant App opened
Total 1 secs + no WOW !!
Fifth....
<< HTC Sensation > Sensation General > Switch to SGS2? >>
¿?¿?¿?¿?¿ .....
ah
I heard that touch wiz becomes very buggy and the phone cant handle rom well, probably just rumors though.

[Q] Best phone period

Im looking into picking a new phone, but like most of us I have a hard time deciding whats better to get after having the phone I thought was the greatest. So I Want to see what phone to get next, or what devices to consider, as well see what features to look for next, I was just happy when the Droid inc (1GHz processing power, 8MP Cam, and 512 MBs RAM) was announced and I still am when I look at and think about it. SO my question to the entire Community, What is the best phone, OS, ROM, Features, and why?
Phone EX: Nexus one, HTC EVO, HTC Touch Pro, LG Quantum
Custom built EX: HTC HD2 Running Windows phone 7,
Motorola Droid Running (Custom ROM or Stock)
or even a concept phone; 10MP Cam, Android 2.2, dual core, qwerty keyboard, etc.
Current:
PhoneInc, ROM:Incredible RMX 2
Tablet:Asus Transformer, ROM:Revolver
the only 2 phones worth considering are:
SGS2
Nexus 3
or wait another months for the next best phones to come out, but by then you can wait another 3 months, and then even better phones are around the corner
i made a spec sheet for iOS/Android/Windows phones in my sig.
please feel free to check it out and contribute if you can.
thanks.
hopefully this will help you in getting the right device this holiday season.

Nexus 3 is what I'm waiting for.. .iphone 5 is sounding real sexy too at the moment. Seems like it will be the thinnest phone once it releases.on top of its sexy teardrop all aluminum design reminiscent of the MacBook air from what I've read (all speculations)Too bad ios sucks!

As much as I dislike HTC, the HTC titan is in a league of it's own as far as phones go. With processing power, it's not the absolute best. The thing is though, that only matters on an OS like android where it will only run remotely decent even with a top-end processor. Aside from that it sports a massive screen, ffc for video chat, solid body, up to 32 gigs internal, and most importantly windows phone 7. I'm sorry, but I don't buy high-end hardware to put an OS on it that was and is intended for crap hardware. My OS needs to keep up with me. Can I customize my phone to the point that it is unstable, slow, but reflects me? No. I can add numerous tiles with all kinds of pictures on a dynamic UI which totally beats a background image for me. Android is great if customization is your ONLY concern, for quality, speed, social integration, gaming, business, media, and pretty much anything else you'd be ripping yourself off if you went any way but the windows phone 7 way.

I honestly think that the Samsung Galaxy S II is the best phone out there, befor i bought it i read tons of comparisons and articles

I would personally want the MIUI phone / M1 but I doubt it will make it out of China.

Whats the MIUI phone? the phone I used to want (though probably outdated now) was called the first else phone, and it was only sold in the middle east, but everyone seems to be on samsung now, I just cant be excited about that, esp since everything I would buy from them usually looks alot better than it preforms. The two phones that top my list now thou would be the Sensation XE, and the Rhyme(almost to the point where the color doesn't even matter)
But I have heard alot of good about the nexus prime. I just feel like if I actually knew how how to program it would be of that much more use to me.

Stay away from WM7 on an HD2 if you want the card slot to survive. It will kill the card slot. Mine, I can run WM7, but if I try to flash Android or other ROMs, the card slot won't work. WM7 runs from the card in the slot excessively and wears it out. WM7 just isn't worth it.
Imho I have used the Samsung epic and also the EVO 4g (not the 3d) and have noticed that the EVO is by far the best one out of the two... Also the most customizable in the sense if being able to switch from sense 3.0 to 3.5 and to asop...

well the only exception to your analogy is the sgs 2 or a totally stock/cyano/miui rom, according to my experience from my hd2 and captivate days. If it's sense, you can expect it to lagg, even when you have nothing on your homescreen.
That aside, I have to agree, WP7 is a great piece of work. Micro created a smooth, simple UI/OS that competes with apple in all those terms and maybe even better in some aspects. What Micro is "copying" from Apple is making phones that run on the "same specs". And the advantage to that is any app placed on the market will be able to run on all WP7 phones, unlike some android apps, which will work on a certain phone but not another.
What i don't like however is that really, all of them look the same (UI/appearance). It makes me feel like i don't have anything special. Which is the same with an iPhone(a stock one atleast). Atleast with android I can customize my status/notificaton bar, change my launcher layout/appearance, change certain effects e.g. overscroll glow to bouncy, change my lockscreen, change my icons, change my settings/menu appearance, which overall means i can have a phone that's different than the next or atleast appears different. (note also the lagg that you state coming from all this customization was atleast non apparent to me in my hd2 days, and for me now in my sgs 2)
Now I may be wrong about WP7 as i haven't even checked on the hacks/customization available since my HD2 days running WP7.

I don't think so, you obviously have not done a genuine unbiased eval.

[Q] [ICS] Where did the stopwatch/timer/sleep timer go in ICS?

Where did these features go in ICS? They used to be under the Clock app in Froyo/GB. Any help appreciated
I am on Kwiboo's ICS ROM v2
Hmm, i haven't seen those in the clock app except on sense. I always just downloaded the stopwatch & timer app from the market.

Well that would explain. It. I came over from the EVO4g a few weeks ago and today was the first time I needed a countdown timer.
Off to the market I go!
Wow... I'm exactly like you. Coming from the incredible, I feel like this Nexus is a piece of crap. Clock app sucks compared to sense, as does the dialer. And dont even get me started on Android widgets vs sense ones. Nothing replaces that sense news widget...

TOTALLY worth it IMO. I find new things I can't do in stock that I was taking for granted with my Sense DInc almost every day. Plus phones today come with so much absurd ROM and processing power that the chunk sense takes is virtually meaningless.

Sense, and others like it, are the reason phones need that much rom, procesing power. Pure android is way better then all that other crapp.

What you said makes no sense (no pun intended). You admit phones now come with adequate ROM and processing power to handle Sense (yes, perhaps because of the strenuous requirements of it), but then claim stock is better anyway? So I'm assuming you believe it's better to run Windows 95 instead of Windows 7 on a modern computer because even though the tech is up to handling the better stuff, sparing system resources is the only thing that counts?

If you look at the talk about the samsung galaxy not being updated to ics because of not having sufficient memory while the ns already got it altough the two phones are almost identical....well it speaks for it self that all that bloatware kills off a good phone.
Nowhere in my comment did i mention stock i reffered to pure android as it comes from google and since i dont like rooting ( read have company software installed on my phone) i am stuck to stock.
I like to have some hardware to spare instead of running on the edge.
But Micro$oft, come on......

Coming from the HTC Desire Z, which in Dec 2010 was a new and high-end device, ive gotta say my Galaxy Nexus (really wish I could say Nexus Prime) definitely blows it away. I know the RAM and cpu differences are huge, but even so. The thing struggled to run sense without slowing to a crawl after getting to around 30 apps installed. Switching to GOLauncher helped for a while but that was just a bandaid solution. I love the phone but HTC really needs to streamline things. Also, I do miss the clock app, which is how i stumbled upon this . Having it be oem and not third party pleased me.
How did a "where is the timer?" thread turn into a "sense vs stock" thread?
Sense is nice. If a phone can run it smoothly, then why not have it? It's really just a matter of preference and OPINION.
Though granted, my opinion is that I like stock Android better =p but hey, the option is nice.
One of the reasons that vanilla Android is feature light is to promote growth in the Market. If Android were released with every function that you can imagine, and they were all perfect, there would be little need for a Market and devs would go elsewhere.
I've always preferred a 'lite' ROM that you can then add to as you see fit. Want a Stopwatch/Timer? Choose from any one of dozens found on the market today. You have so much choice that you can find one you prefer and use that, rather than having to use one that you had no choice in, and can't get rid of because it was on the phone when you bought it. It's easier to add what you want than it is to remove the bloat that you don't.

Android phone without screen lag?

Hi all, I've had about 5 different Android powered phones beginning with the og Droid, to my current DroidX and Motorola Xoom. The screen kind of lags for both devices and it is kind of annoying. I use my wives iPad and iPhone every now and then, but I really prefer Android. There is no screen lag on either of her devices. Is there any new phone available that doesn't have this issue? I'm interested in the galaxy nexus, but the one I tested in the store had the same kind if lag... Although everything was running at one time, so I don't know if it was for that reason or what. I'm on Verizon if that helps. Thanks for any info!

There's no perfect device with zero lag.
The way iOS and Android function is just different, there's a thread detailing how this works, don't have it on hand.
In Android land, the closest you will get to a totally lag free experience is the Galaxy S2. Too bad Verizon doesnt carry it...
.....you're talking a dx here. Terrible software.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
I agree that no phone is completely lag free, but custom roms/kernels make a huge difference, which is why we all post/lurk here For me, changing the rom and kernel on my Galaxy Nexus makes it into a totally different phone with significantly less lag. I think if you upgraded to a GN and tricked it out, you'd be much happier than you are with your DX.
The gs2 makes a valiant attempt. If you're stuck with android, that's your best option.
The galaxy s2 has less lag than the iphone 4s. You need to get the one x or SGS3 and I am sure they will not lag.( Ok not 100% true, becuase I can make any thing lag, iphone 4 and 4s, i7 PC with GTX 580 6GB of DRR3 1600mhz ram, PS3, Droid razr, SGS2 and my laptop.)
I have made them all lag by runing bone crushing app or content that made them yell nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I can tell you how I made the iphones lag, but really they are over rated.
Make a Lumia lag, try it. Android lags worse than any other OS regardless of hardware, you trade that level of user experience for infinite customization. For most, that's a fair trade-off.

Hmmm, lag? I thought that has to do with phone overloaded or using a poorly designed rom? I use the htc inc S, lags a little now, but not when it was stock, lag free. Thats y i await the official ics, htc says april

SGS2 is still the most lag free android out there

Like others said all devices lag but rare you see it in iOS or a windows phone. Its just Android lags the most and it doesn't matter how powerful the hardware gets it's still gonna lag until the OS is completely rewritten.
there cant be no lag, and dont compare android to iphone, iphone os is specificly built for the iphone, only 1 device. but android is just built for hundreds of devices, it would be just extremly time consuming and costly for each company to develop their own android for every phone they release. and thats why android lags.

Also it is purely due to the fact that you can multi task with Android. The iPhone doesnt do true multitasking... The only time my GS2 lags is when I have multiple downloads in progress, streaming movies to my tv/xbox and playing games.

What do you mean by screen lag exactly? Are you talking about touchscreen response time? If so, then there's still a while before we get to near 0ms delay on commercially available phones, although Microsoft have made a touchscreen display with a 1ms delay.

No, I believe they are refering to when you scroll through things sometimes it lags. Like say sometimed you scroll between homescreens, sometimes it wont go smoothy like it is meant too.

Still not possible even today. The lag on newer phones is worse than ancient phones like the S2. Unoptimised OS can't handle the higher resolution.
