[Q] Best phone period - General Questions and Answers

Im looking into picking a new phone, but like most of us I have a hard time deciding whats better to get after having the phone I thought was the greatest. So I Want to see what phone to get next, or what devices to consider, as well see what features to look for next, I was just happy when the Droid inc (1GHz processing power, 8MP Cam, and 512 MBs RAM) was announced and I still am when I look at and think about it. SO my question to the entire Community, What is the best phone, OS, ROM, Features, and why?
Phone EX: Nexus one, HTC EVO, HTC Touch Pro, LG Quantum
Custom built EX: HTC HD2 Running Windows phone 7,
Motorola Droid Running (Custom ROM or Stock)
or even a concept phone; 10MP Cam, Android 2.2, dual core, qwerty keyboard, etc.
Current:
PhoneInc, ROM:Incredible RMX 2
Tablet:Asus Transformer, ROM:Revolver

the only 2 phones worth considering are:
SGS2
Nexus 3
or wait another months for the next best phones to come out, but by then you can wait another 3 months, and then even better phones are around the corner

i made a spec sheet for iOS/Android/Windows phones in my sig.
please feel free to check it out and contribute if you can.
thanks.
hopefully this will help you in getting the right device this holiday season.

Thank you, I like the looks of the Sensation XE, But I'm in the US how can I get it on verizon? if you know, and that HTC Holiday, but again, verizon.

the Nexus 3 is basically SGS2 but with a 5MP camera instead of 8MP, but improved screen SAMOLED+ HD 720p resolution
tech spec for the SGS2 are everywhere

Incidentally, to make it easier for people (till you get enough posts to post links), just change the http to hxxp. That seems like a commonly accepted way of posting links that aren't links (and it's easier for people to correct in their address bar!)

Nexus 3 is what I'm waiting for.. .iphone 5 is sounding real sexy too at the moment. Seems like it will be the thinnest phone once it releases.on top of its sexy teardrop all aluminum design reminiscent of the MacBook air from what I've read (all speculations)Too bad ios sucks!
Sticking to android and probably give wp7 a try once better phones are out.

As much as I dislike HTC, the HTC titan is in a league of it's own as far as phones go. With processing power, it's not the absolute best. The thing is though, that only matters on an OS like android where it will only run remotely decent even with a top-end processor. Aside from that it sports a massive screen, ffc for video chat, solid body, up to 32 gigs internal, and most importantly windows phone 7. I'm sorry, but I don't buy high-end hardware to put an OS on it that was and is intended for crap hardware. My OS needs to keep up with me. Can I customize my phone to the point that it is unstable, slow, but reflects me? No. I can add numerous tiles with all kinds of pictures on a dynamic UI which totally beats a background image for me. Android is great if customization is your ONLY concern, for quality, speed, social integration, gaming, business, media, and pretty much anything else you'd be ripping yourself off if you went any way but the windows phone 7 way.

iphone5,next google phone

I honestly think that the Samsung Galaxy S II is the best phone out there, befor i bought it i read tons of comparisons and articles

Nexus prime with ics !!!!!!
Nexus Prime is supposed to be coming out in the next 2 weeks WITH ICS!!!!
I would personally want the MIUI phone / M1 but I doubt it will make it out of China.

Whats the MIUI phone? the phone I used to want (though probably outdated now) was called the first else phone, and it was only sold in the middle east, but everyone seems to be on samsung now, I just cant be excited about that, esp since everything I would buy from them usually looks alot better than it preforms. The two phones that top my list now thou would be the Sensation XE, and the Rhyme(almost to the point where the color doesn't even matter)
But I have heard alot of good about the nexus prime. I just feel like if I actually knew how how to program it would be of that much more use to me.

Stay away from WM7 on an HD2 if you want the card slot to survive. It will kill the card slot. Mine, I can run WM7, but if I try to flash Android or other ROMs, the card slot won't work. WM7 runs from the card in the slot excessively and wears it out. WM7 just isn't worth it.

Imho I have used the Samsung epic and also the EVO 4g (not the 3d) and have noticed that the EVO is by far the best one out of the two... Also the most customizable in the sense if being able to switch from sense 3.0 to 3.5 and to asop...

well the only exception to your analogy is the sgs 2 or a totally stock/cyano/miui rom, according to my experience from my hd2 and captivate days. If it's sense, you can expect it to lagg, even when you have nothing on your homescreen.
That aside, I have to agree, WP7 is a great piece of work. Micro created a smooth, simple UI/OS that competes with apple in all those terms and maybe even better in some aspects. What Micro is "copying" from Apple is making phones that run on the "same specs". And the advantage to that is any app placed on the market will be able to run on all WP7 phones, unlike some android apps, which will work on a certain phone but not another.
What i don't like however is that really, all of them look the same (UI/appearance). It makes me feel like i don't have anything special. Which is the same with an iPhone(a stock one atleast). Atleast with android I can customize my status/notificaton bar, change my launcher layout/appearance, change certain effects e.g. overscroll glow to bouncy, change my lockscreen, change my icons, change my settings/menu appearance, which overall means i can have a phone that's different than the next or atleast appears different. (note also the lagg that you state coming from all this customization was atleast non apparent to me in my hd2 days, and for me now in my sgs 2)
Now I may be wrong about WP7 as i haven't even checked on the hacks/customization available since my HD2 days running WP7.

[Q] Help Me Choose a Smartphone plz

Hi Guys,
This is my first thread in the android section cuz I have been a windows mobile user for a long time with my SE xperia x1.
Now i'd like to buy another phone and unfortunately Windows Phone 7 lacks a lot of things so I'll go with an android phone. I think that froyo is really good.
I thought about the SE X10 but it only has android 2.1 and no official update for or no update at all for 2.2 which reflects how hard it'd be to update to any further version.
I also did some reading and found that Android 2.3 is soon to come and its minimum requirements are 1ghz processor and 512mb RAM. and I want to be able to update to it when the update comes out, so i want a phone with these minimum requirements and to currently have android 2.2 froyo on it.
so if u plz guide me to a phone with these specifications and not very expensive i'll be very thankful
T-Mobile's HTC G2 is a good phone, it has stock Android 2.2 and since it's one of Googles phones it should get the 2.3 update fairly quickly. Also Motorola's Droid 2 is stock 2.2 so it will get the update faster than other phones and has a 1ghz processor, and the Nexus One is probably the best Android phone out there.
Thanx for ur reply but sry i forgot to mention that i'm from Egypt and i'm going to get this phone from UAE so unfortunately there's no carrier phones so T-mobile g2 is not an option
An unlocked Nexus One should work over there. Do you're carriers use GSM?
I guess so, but I won't find a nexus one I'm not buying online
Well The Nexus One is the safest card at the moment. It will most likely be upgraded to gingerbread.
So if you can get hold of a nexus one, I think your problem is solved.
Here's something to read...
http://www.brighthand.com/default.a...ingerbread+3.0+Nexus+One+Upgrade+Release+Date
Thanx for your help, Bu I don't Think that the nexus one will be available where I'm buying plus honestly I don't think it looks beautiful either
so is there any other phone to consider??
The update to 2.3 doesn't have to be official but if the phone have the minimum requirements I believe that someone here at XDA will get the update running on it in no time
so any other recommendations ??
EDIT: There's a Probability that the Nexus One might be available so I'd like to know what does it lack among the phones available now cuz it has ben out since Jan 2010 it must be late on something I guess
I dont own one myself , so I cant really tell you anything about its cons or pros or whatever. However its physichal aspects does seems to feel a bit old, compared to HTC desire that is...
Alright, Let's say that I go for the desire
do u think that it'll be getting the 2.3 update either officially or non-officially
one more thing, is there any drawbacks with the desire?
I have no idea when it come to the desire actually.
And no, I personally think desire is the best android handset out yet =)

I think the desire will not get an official 2.3. update.
But the Desire is almost the same as the Nexus One, which will get the 2.3. update, so there probably will be lots of 2.3.-ports for Desire from Nexus One.
I would'nt got for a SE-device, because imho their support is bad (updating on 2.1. when 2.2. already has been released 6 months ago WTF).
Regards
Yes I agree and as they both have practically the same specs, It would be bad marketing if they didnt offer a upgrade to the Desire aswell in my opinion...
Personally I would recommend the Galaxy S because the support is decent, it has a lot of supporters (custom roms, custom kernels, AOSP-ification etc).
Also hardware wise it is superior to anything on the market right now (strongest graphics chip) and the Super AMOLED is something out of this world! you have to see it to believe it.
Optionally you could wait till January for Nexus 2 which is a (?) modified version of galaxy S with gingerbread.
Secondary I could recommend the N900, it's an AWESOME hacking phone, just got USB hosting support (USB drives etc) and it looks like nokia might bring MeeGo to it after all.
But it's early adoption, yada yada, you'll have to take chances and learn some terminal commands and linux (no biggie) and in reward you get to run android, ubuntu palm pre apps (awesome games) at an almost perfect state(meaning phone, uit etc, games run perfect )!
Now what I would not recommend you to get is an iPhone.
The software support is awful, jaibreaking literally breaks the device (gsm etc...), buld quality, you must have read about it and buh-bye widgets flash and customizations.
's a blog about all that stuff, I keep reading and remain astonished...
http://theiphonefever.blogspot.com/2010/05/iphone-4g-screen-multimedia-flop.html
Yes you could buy a n900 and port it with upcoming nitdroid 0.0.9 (android 2.2.1)
But if you were looking to buy a android device in the first place I would not recommend to buy a n900 and port it to android and so on. I mean... gingerbread is soon to come and the NITDroid project is currently on the froyo stageline , in that case you would always be at least 1 year behind.
I wouldn't go for a galaxy S because of the lack of flash for the camera and the looks, I guess it looks kinda cheap and the desire is way better looking but I agree with you the super AMOLED is great.
and the n900 is very low on specs even if it'd boot android it'll be slow and laggy IMO, plus it's a NOKIA and for me this reason is more than enough not to buy it
and off course I wont even consider an iphone these phones r way stupid
I agree with nickownzya about SE phones I was astonished when I knew that the x10 got 2.1 while 2.2 was already out. why would they do that?!!!
so I guess I'll be either buying a desire or a nexus one, good looking, great support, and better hardware.
Thanx for the help guys
Desire and Nexus are cool but otherwise I hate HTC designs. Why do they always have to make that "spotted" back? what's wrong with a smooth finish?
Hard choice anyway, nexus seems to be close to the end of it's "lifetime" and kinda lags on specs HD video etc, but desire has more potential but doesn't have the same support...
Either way I don't agree about the galaxy looking cheap. SO far it's the only device with gorilla glass display (scratch proof so far for me) and it has the sleekest/thinnest shape of them all.
Also it has the strongest video hardware which will keep it from becoming obsolete a while longer than the competition. So far nothing takes full advantage of it though, unfortunately.
When it comes to design, it differs from a person to another. for me this plastic is too much plus it's a fingerprint magnet and I hate that. I would prefer a metal finish, metal buttons or even harder looking plastic with matte black or gray.
U seem to be a big galaxy S fan yourself and I don't hate it but If only they have added flash for the camera and took the whole thing and put it into a better looking body something like the milestone 2 which BTW also has Gorilla Glass display or a SE x10 I'd definitely go for it .
Anyway, Honestly I'd prefer the desire because of the same reason u mentioned .
Then go for desire, you wont be disapointed =)
Samsung galaxy s. You can't get better hardware.
Its not perfect out of the box.
Infact it need little care, but then its great.
I had an iphone4 before i did buy my sgs. Well now i don't have a iphone 4.

We are not Jesus Christ or prophet mahomet....
There is plenty of threads to look for if you want an android phone. As I know... no one here works at google or at HTC ... we don't know nothing about gingerbread and wich one is gonna be updated and when. Google, youtube... make your homework. There's plenty of videos and reviews on the net...

G2 or HD7 or Vibrant

Not sure what section to put this in.
I have a chance to get one of these 3 phones. With contract.
I really like the G2 but, want to get the experts recommendations of these 3 phones.
I haven't used anyone of these phones. I do use an HD2 dual booting.
Pros and Cons for all phones and user experience would help me decide.
Thanks
First off i say stay away from the vibrant. Not thst its a bad phone, i personally dont like samsung (returned my epic after 3 days.) As you can see in my sig my current phones include a nexus one, HD2, HD7, and My Touch 4G.
My favorite phone out of the group is the MT4G just because of the speed and power it has. The second gen snapdragon and the 786mb ram make it one of the most powerful and fast android phones on the market.
I have only had the HD7 for 3 or 4 days. Great phone and OS, but it needs more time to mature. My mine problem with it is the no multitasking with third party apps. The Os is smooth as butter though!
IMO get the G2 (If you want the keyboard, MT4G if you want a fully loaded android.)
Personally, I'd get the HD7. It can only get better as the OS matures.
As far as the android phones go, it depends on what you're looking for. G2 has a keyboard, but slower CPU (800MHz). Vibrant has no keyboard, but a faster CPU (1GHz) and also an AMOLED screen.
Don't know if you were looking to get the MyTouch4g, but I'd probably choose that if I were to get an android phone on t-mobile.

I do like the MT4G too, that one isn't available to me right now (these aren't being bought from a T-Mobile store). That is why I didn't include it in the poll or post.
I'm not really sure about the Vibrant, I can't believe they didn't put a camera flash on it, what a waste.
Thanks for your input. I did click the thanks button.
With NAND boot Android on the HD2 I'm not sure you will get an appreciably better Android experience from the Vibrant, G2, or MT4G. I would go with the HD7 personally to try something new. Or wait it out until after CES.
The main advantage is 4G speeds with the G2 or MT4G, if your in a 4G area. In Kansas City I avg 8-10mbs on my MT4G. I do see great potential in WP7. I absolutly love the OS, im just waiting for Microsoft to add the lil things they left out. If you take lots of pics with your phone though the camera sucks on the HD7.
I have yet to try a nand rom on my HD2. Time to dust it off and give it a shot. it was already good with SD roms.
My sd Android is working good. Battery life could be better. I haven't tried the NAND either, might try it tomorrow.
Still haven't figured out which one to get.
I just got a vibrant and I really love it. I came from a hd2 so screen size as very important.
While I thought I wanted the mt4g but I am very happy with the vibrant. I havent experienced any bugs and with the nero v3 rom i've been happy as a pig in sh.t lol.
As far as the hd7 I wasnt willing to take the plunge because of the sd card limitation and the possible lack of apps.
Well personally ive played around with the G2 and i like it, yes it has a slower CPU but it has been overclocked to 2 Ghz!!! 2X faster than the MT4G, but you dont have to go that ridiculous, you can just go with the standard 1.2 Ghz, thats assuming your willing to root your phone
Not to mention that the G2 is said to get the new gingerbread (2.3) soon, according to others, it makes it quicker so if you add all that i think that the G2 is the best
(also if you really like the MT4G sense ui, i have heard that they have it as a rom for the G2, not to mention they have Cyanogen on it)
but basically its up to you
Not looking to leave a Vibrant
As you can see by my signature I have a Vibrant. It is operating some as silk and very very fast. If it wasn't for the developers I could not say this.
I have been looking at a Nexus S and realizing the differences between Nexus S and a Vibrant are the curved body style, a flash with the camera and a 2.3 OS. The camera on a Vibrant is very good even taking night shots. A flash is not required on a Vibrant.
I will not change to a Nexus for the small differences. Very happy for now waiting for something newer to come along
My vote goes to Desire Z
I vote for the G2. I'm selling my Nexus S for one.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
Advantages of of G2 are Keyboard and (almost) stock android IMO.
Advantages of MT4G are faster processor (and its been overclocked to, i run mine at 1.4ghz) More ram(786mb), more ram cant hurt. Front facing Cam, thats more of a prefrence, but it will be big if skype brings video chat to android.
Advantages of HD7 are Big screen. Fast and great looking OS. Netflix (if your a member.) Zune and zune pass. The market is also growing really fast so the lack of apps will die especially when MS loosens up and let devs get access to more api.
If your gonna root i dont think it matters if a phone has sense or not because you can put a rom with it if you want it or a rom without it if you prefer stock.

Hi I am looking at getting a new phone currently I have a htc desire and it made me fall in love with android because with my desire I rooted and flashed custom roms.
Which phone would you suggest I go for that is either out at the min or is soon to be released.
It must be android in order to compete with my desire
Thanks for your opinions

I too am currently looking for an android phone.
I was pretty much sure I was going to get the Thunderbolt or Evo depending on if Verizon would match Sprint's current bonus minutes offer. But now I've been reading about other phones (LG G2x, EVO 3D coming soon...) and new developments such as dual core processors, etc... and I'm thinking maybe I should wait.
Depends what your budget is. Galaxy S II seems a favorite.
I think it'd be a good idea to think of what you want and then we could make some suggestions... I'm hoping for the Droid Pro II (eventually) but that's because I like keys and don't mind the smaller screen.

Since the OP hasn't been back I won't feel bad hijacking this thread.
Looks like now I'm deciding between the Galaxy S II and the Evo 3D.
Since the GS2 is going to be open source, does that mean we will probably be able to put HTC Sense 3.0 on the GS2? I really wanted an HTC and I like their UI but I think I'd rather have the better camera than 3D.
Is there another HTC phone that will compare with the GS2? Also, I read Samsung is bad about updating, but if I'm rooting and flashing a new ROM that is moot, right? The devs will update ROMS here and I can grab those, right?
It's really more phone than I think I need but I've had mine for almost a year past my contract expiring so I'm not someone who needs to replace my phone asap, I will probably live with new phone for 3-4 years. And I don't mind waiting a few more months for price drop and devs to do their thing. So I'd like to future proof it a little bit even if it costs a bit more right now, I think.
Or I get the Thunderbolt right now but it seems like I should go to dual processors and 1gb ram for future OS updates but that is kind of guessing on my part based on what I've been reading the past few days.
I'm going to use it mostly for phone, texts, email, music and internet browsing. Then once I learn more about the android apps I'd like to integrate it with my home AV system as much as possible. I'm coming from a dumbphone that I dropped my data plan for so it's just calls and texts and casual pic taking right now. Kind of excited to get a smartphone.

I'd say the evo 4G was responsible along with the galaxy
S line of phones. The nexus one was huge I think.

OG Droid, all the way. Completely changed the mobile landscape and put Android on the map.
The G1 and the N1, followed by the Droid...
The N1 is still the best one ever made.
The nexus 1 in USA and Desire in Europe
In terms of influence and popularity/innovation etc., I'd say the list is more like 1. G1(just b/c its the first Android), 2. OG Droid(First Android phone that blew up, ridiculous marketing etc), 3. HTC EVO (easily the iPhone of Androids) 4. Nexus 1 5. SGS/II 6. Droid X, 7. Droid Inc. 8. Moto Atrix 9-10, idk? Personally I'd put the HTC Aria up there for having such a clean, small design. Didn't sell huge but it did decent for an AT&T phone.
Idk, I think the youtube list is way off. For example, I don't know too many people who even heard of the LG Optimus X2. The Optimus V is a much bigger step for Android IMO ($130 prepaid, easily one of the best-selling Virgin Mobile phones).
cool. i would rank the samsung nexus s on this list
first curved screen, first nfc device.
well for me.. it has to be the galaxy s , (now on s2)
I was always a Nokia man until i bought a archos 5, 2 years ago and was very impressed, which led to the android change.
Wouldn't change back and would even go as far to say as i would be lost with out all the features we now all take for granted.

which ten are the best android phones responsible for android's growth

Since the question is which 10 best are responsible for putting Android on the map and not best overall here goes...
10. Your winmo phone - yes, I grouped them up but I think the Android ports is what really got the community moving from winmo->android...people just had to have a taste before they were willing to commit..
9. iphone - since theoretically iphone can run android I can count it as an Android phone ...Android was gonna grow iphone or not, that is obvious..all those people saying iphone is responsible for Android being what it is today is nto really true..it had its influence but end of the day thats very small..what they did have is getting average consumers interested in smartphones and touchphones to begin with.
8. Nexus S - Due to media's scaring people with fragmentation it arose a lot of interest among people due to it being "Google Experience" which is suppose to rival the pure "iphone experience"
7. HTC Hero - probably the first Android phone anyone heard any mention of...if they heard of it..
6. Samsung Intercept/Moment/Original Galaxy/w\w other names it has - Yes, crazy I know..this is a low end phone and is complete junk..but it made itself popular due to it being low budget and available in all markets..its junk but it put android on the map...whether it be in a good way or bad way is another story..
5. Droid X - Like the Evo it was a big competitor and had a lot of backing from the Droid camp.
4. HTC Evo 4G - This one is a big one mostly in the developer community. It also saw a lot of advertisement from Sprint which helped put it on the map as an alternative to the iphone. Unfortunately lack of stock ultimitely turned a lot of people down for months but there is no denying that average people know this phone by name in the US.
3. HTC Desire - This phone is very popular in the international community. I don't know the exact details but I know its big...its effectively the HTC incredible which did wonders and its similar to nexus one.
2. Samsung Galaxy S - The key to this one was samsung's ability to get the phone on so many carriers and so many markets..while each variant may not have performed well on itself it did wonders overall. Not to mention while TouchWiz UI is not very popular among many in development, to the average consumer it made things a lot simpler.
1. Motorola Droid - With Verizon's $100m advertising campaign, android was put on the map right there
Now..why is the Nexus One not there or the G1? well frankly they are both good phones but they did not put Android on the map...Nexus One was popular among the Android community..but outside no one heard of it..it was a developer phone with no supply chain...but still is an awesome phone...the G1 can probably be #11 but Android announcement wasn't even known by average people and most of the tech community was "thats nice"..again its a good phone responsible for alot but it didn't carry the weight the above 10 did...
Of course htc HD2
One of the most developed device and has since early days a big and powerful community behind it

Zte blade, for £70 it needs a mention.

Samsung Galaxsy II, new but great, legendes will remain legends but this phone have very good future, i think by moding and developing will suprass any android phone.... Respect to G1 and N1, dislike HTC (because of unreall price here in Serbia)
Cheers!
The best "phone" at this time IMHO is.. the iphone4
I don't understand why there is no android phone with the same physical specs - the same width/height/depth/weight and the same POWER specs (cpu/mem/features) - but with an android OS.
Everyone is trying to make a "huge-phone", instead of a classic portable phone.
That is really a shame.
I would say,
G1 (obvious reasons)
2. Nexus S (one of the best stock android phone)
3. Samsung Galaxy S2 (latest and the best)
Also, in case anyone else didn't notice, the video link the OP posted, is now removed from youtube.
Same usual suspects. Droid because it was the one that got Android noticed. galaxy s because it sold over 10 million, and the nexus series because those were google phones
What's a signature?

i agree that the iPhone is a more complete phone than any android device but the hardware itself aside from the screen is dated at best. I hope the iPhone 5 has something sexier under the hood, I still won't use it because the UI is hideous but I'd love for fandroids to stop celebrating the fact that their dual core processors make their phones almost half as fast as wp7 or iOS.

Once iOS catches android in terms of user interface, it probably will need to include a dual core processor.
Same goes for WP7, once it catches android in terms of features.
There's always a catch, you get some, you lose some.

what to buy iphone 4s or htc one x

so im deciding which to get for myself, anyone can leave me there suggestions?
What phone are you coming from? IMO, I think threads like these are pointless. You must let us know what the maim thinks you require first. We all have our own opinions.
Do you want a large screen? Android or iOS? Huge amounts of power or a neat easy to use OS?

Anytime you are bound by proprietary software and hardware (apple in this instance) u miss out on a lot the other communities have to offer! Go android and u can't be wrong-ever!

Android overall
It really depends. If you want games, the Iphone has better games and graphics, but if you want a phone for just everything you cant be wrond with an Android especially HTC bigger screen runs just as fast stock rooted and runs twice as fast as Iphone, I love my Inspire and I was making the same decision when I got wouldn't change my decision ever
It's like Android (Pimp my ride) and Iphone (Mercedes store). What is gona be! You can decide
The answer is simple :
If you are an iOS user that would feel unconfortable in other ecosystems stick with the iPhone
If you mind the size of the One X (width and lenght) again stick with the iPhone.
For everything else the One X is much MUCH better, than iPhone, it is not even a question to be asked imo.
I'd say the HTC One X, the hardware is so dominant and Android offers you so much more than iOS.
My girlfriend has an iphone 4s and in my opinion, iOS is still a tiny bit ahead of Android 4.0. Her phone is smoother than my Galaxy Nexus. However, the screen size was the deal breaker for me.
well, if you plan on developing for a phone without having to own a mac or a developer license (apple's $99), then go ANDROID
HTC One X
htc one x
the amazing phone
In my opinion, HTC ONE X.
Iphone 4S is great too.
But with android system you are free.
The iPhone is a good device don't get me wrong. But there is just SO much you can do with android devices. Way more customizable options, a larger screen, I can go on and on. I'll never give up android

Opinion based
For iPhone 4S, the specs in context of current times is rather poor, but the One X is currently the first phone with Quad Core, which might just be faster yet it also could mean it is also buggier. In context of the OS, iOS is more preferable if you would like something simple, and do not want to mess to much with the interns of the phone, and use the basic applications. While android, with sense overlayed, allows for a greater customization rate, but in return, requires some exploring of your own if you are new to android. If it was me, i would prefer One X, as the specs is as of now latest and as of such would not go out of date too soon. However, if you are looking for stability and long support, go for the 4S, Apple does support phones for quite long, taking note of the iPhone 3GS(2 Major Updates. from iOS 3 to 4 to 5)
Frankly, why go for either?
If you want to go iOS, wait for the iPhone 5.
In you want to go Android, wait for the LTE Padfone.
The 4S and the One X might look like good choices right now, but that's only because the best stuff isn't out yet.
And for those going gaga over the GS3, it might be a quad-core Exynos chip, but it's still running Cortex A9, I'd much rather have something running Cortex A15.
Personally, if you want to go iOS, and can't wait for the iPhone 5, why not build something interesting? Buy an iPad 3, jailbreak the hell out of it, slap on a Skype account for $3/month or roll with Google Voice, then grab a LG Tone bluetooth headset (or equivalent really) for voice control.
one major think for me is battery life i think the 4s has almost the same battery as ons x if not worst and the one x has got a huge screen! as for apps the good stuff are slowly coming over to android so just need some time. and yeah for ios you buy the apps and after awhile you buy lots of it costing you a rather big sum of money (unless you jailbreak of course)and when you switch systems the apps stay there in you itunes and it stays for ever (money loss?) but android sadly i just got for cracked apps :/ no need root to! dont think its fair to just say ios is better then the droid or other way round its just different ....
I'd rather have a One X, but I hear the battery life on the iPhone is superior

How exactly? (apart from percieved smoothness)
I have the 4s and let me tell you...
If you like taking photos with flash that that makes pic lil hazie then 4s is for you. If you like the retina then hands down 4s if you like underclock processor 4s if you like Siri that may or may not work in your location then 4s for you. If you like watching videos and such from site that are html5 well 4s can't watch it. You want sleek pretty and assumed quality 4s...
Well as said I have a 4s jailbroken and I love apple but I hate that they don't step up. I'm going HTC One X may 6th here in the states. I'm not a fan of android at all but this phone really catches my eye and maybe just maybe it might change my thinking. I would go into htc one x specs but I'm sure you know them as much as I do...hope this helps you decide.
