stock HTC charger causing touchscreen issues. video for proof another works give - HTC Sensation

Connected to the htc charger the phone wigs unless touching the phone while touching the screen. Connected to my vibrant charger it works fine without issue,no need to ground it.
I know people said connected to charger it has issues but its specifically the stock one (atleast in my case, hopefully you too) and the charger itself causing the issue. So get a new charger. Htc will have to make new ones cause these are junk.....

Crazy ,anyone know how or why that's happening inside the htc charger?

I had the problem with.the charger if the phone was on its back laying somewhere and I tried to use the Screen it would go crazy. My replacment charger comes in on Monday. Hopefully they have fixed the problem.

I think they made a bad batch.. cause that's just wack ..

Its what made me exchange my 1st phone. No issues with the new charger.

Yep, I have no issues while charging the phone with the stock charger/USB cable.

No issues so far. Charger, no charger, holding it, not holding it. Never any problems with screen responsiveness. But I've only had it 3 days, so we'll see. Knocking on wood while typing...

Dude, you might actually be on to something. I have come to the conclusion that whether anyone believes it or not. The touch screen issue IS NOT a software issue. I really do think that over time, the device is holding on to static electricity which is causing the issues. My old phone that was doing this would stop after I pulled the battery for 1 hour but would start to act back up as the day went on.
Plus, this is the first Android device I've used where the battery starts acting up if you don't use the cable included with the Sensation.

I had the exact same issue. I use my MT3G charger now, as I like the shape much better. I hate how the Sensation charger sticks out so far from the wall.

I can't believe it
I too have this problem but not with the stock charger. Since I got my phone I have been using the same old no name charger with no name usb cable. Until I came upon this posting and tried to unlock my phone or type something while it was charged it would go crazy. I even touched the phone as in the video and tried to use the touch screen but it didn't work as normal. Now I have to try and use the stock charger to see if its the phone or the charger it self.
**used the stock HD2 charger and cable and no problems**

I was thinking this exact same thing.... About the static electricity...
Another weird thing is that even when you plug in the wionky charger, the first few swipes are golden, then about 3 swipes later, wonky.

I've used my old BlackBerry USB cable to sync it and have had no problems. It's really surprising to see so many people with problems...I was actually going to return my Sensation because of the WiFi death grip issue but I don't want to run the risk of getting another one of these issues.

And yea, what's up with this two foot charger junk..lol. I feel like I'm humping the socket using it while charging..

I can certainly say that it the problem affects more devices than you think. I'm not totally sure what causes it but you guys should see my zune hd.. It will literally control itself. Play music by itself, go in and out of menus (super fast by the way). If you guys want a video I can upload one if I can find it... It freaked me out when it first started to happen keep in mind, the zune is perfectly normal and works fine. The charger was one of those cheap chinese stuff.. So it could be a quality issue. I have yet to have the problem on my myTouch 4g though. I had it in a vibrant, hd2, I think even a G2 .

My Nexus1 used to do that on some chargers. Had to turn the screen off and back on to get it to clear up. Figured they were just slightly out of spec chargers and tried not to use them anymore.

Not certain what you're asking here. While on charge (mains or PC) my phone works fine in all aspects.
Yeah our device has screen 'grounding' issues (meaning static charges build up on the screen easily, which interferes with touch input)
This happens with my device while I am charging, but during normal use it is mostly fine.
This thread describes our problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239238 - there are fixes available there. The easiest way I have found however, is to hold the whole phone in my palm while charging. This reduces my problem greatly
You can also return the phone to HTC assuming you are still stock, who will replace the back cover (where the issues originate, as it acts as ground). Or just revert to S-ON and flash RUU if you're not stock anymore

I had the same problem. It seems to be the quality of the charge cable. I have used multiple cables and only 1 or 2 show the issue.

[Help?]Screen issues?

Recently, my touchscreen has been playing up.
When typing or carrying out different tasks, my device starts 'touching' its own screen anyware on the left hand side - removing my ability to use it. The screen is clean and I've tried 3 different ROMs including stock.
Has anyone had this screen issue or has anyone got a solution?
My phone is useless because of this issue!
Thanks,
Crwblyth
It's a long-shot, but is this happening when phone is plugged into a cheap unofficial charger? These have been shown to sometimes send touch screens mental.

Unfortunately it sounds like it needs to go off for repair. Contact HTC and see what they say. Not sure if you should return your phone to stock ROM and s-on etc first though.

Battery issue

I was having prior issues with my phone randomly going into bootloop and resetting if I hit the back of the phone even the slightest. A member suggested putting a folded up piece of paper in the back and it fixed it. Thanks Klathmon!
So, now I am having another issue. The phone will charge and will randomly stop charging even while it is plugged in. I have to reset the phone in order to continue charging.
I HAVE ORDERED A NEW BATTERY. It's coming in the mail. T-Mobile tacked on $7 to my bill. Which is already at $95. I feel like I'm getting raped! I love T-Mobile though!

That sucks! I don't have that data drop issue but if I'm on wifi and go out of range the data doesn't work. I have to turn off the wifi first then toggle my phone's airplane mode. It works on the first try 90% of the time. Occasionally, I have to do it more than once.
I'm using CM7 Stable version 7.1 Maybe I should try the latest and see if that fixes it. What is the latest now, version 7.2? I haven't gotten around to it cuz last time I went to the site it was down.
Hopefully the new battery will eleviate all my battery issues!

I had the same problem. Except my issue was the power cable. I would use it while it was charging and I guess that loosened up the inside of the housing on the end of the cable. I replaced the cable and problem solved. At first I was afraid it was the charging port.
Maybe thats your issue, the cable counterpart. The charger port in your phone. If that's loose, it could most likely be the culprit of your intermittent charging.

[Q] Erratic Ghost Touches

Has anyone had a problem with their nexus 5 where the screen would randomly start pressing things? It usually happens multiple times and is very erratic. Contacted Google and will send back for a replacement just wondering if anyone else is having this issue.
Yap, me too.
Had it a while back but it seems to have stopped.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Never anything like that but what I have done a few times is my palm touches the bottom right of the screen when I reach for the top left corner while right handing it. Coming from an iPhone so I guess it took a bit to get used to the larger screen
I requested for a replacement to Google Play this morning. They send it this evening. I should
get my replacement early next week. Good service I would say.
I'm glad I'm not going crazy! This is happening to me too! Is there any way to resolve this without having to go through the RMA process?
Only While Charging
I'm getting some erratic touch behavior, but only when the phone is charging. I take it off the charger and it seems fine.
I'm not getting total phantom behavior, but when I swipe from home screen to home screen, sometimes an app will get activated. Same with pulling down the notification area.
It makes me think there's a charge leaking through to the display components somehow.
I'm going to give it a week and then RMA it if it doesn't go away.
I have it too
I have it too but only when I connect my USB to the computer...
It's sucks cos I'm an app developer...
Is there any fix for that?

Sounds like a dodgy USB cable or port.
Same issues with my Nexus 4
I notice my issue is mostly when my phone is charging or when I'm using my mobile hotspot. Tends to get extra warm when im using both. Which leads me to believe its an overheating issue (the heat is throwing off the digitizer causing it to maybe think its being touched?) Is anyone else noticing the same?
Yes, but only while on wireless charger and even then only sometimes.
I take it off, push power button twice and it's gone.
I'm also experiencing this if my Nexus 5 is charging using the original Wall charger and cable.
Still no fix for this? Really annoying, I need to unplug my phone to the charger so that I can use it again normally

[Q] USB charging port

First, I bought this device the day it came out on ATT. I love it, but I do not know if is a malfunction of my phone or all of them are the same. When I try to connect the USB cable it gives me a really hard time cause is like if something is blocking the port. I have tried with different cables, but all of them give me the same result. I have to push really hard to get it connected and I think is something that should not happen, I want to know if you guys have the same problem or if this is something happening just to me. Thanks. :fingers-crossed:
When inserting your cord tilt it down after you first insert it. Takes a bit getting used too, but it's smoother that way. Mine does that as well.

Yeah, same here. Though I have noticed that the micro USB connector on the stock cable features a couple of extra "hooks" that my other chargers don't have.
My old charger connector goes into the G3 a lot more effortlessly. However, when using that non-LG charger, the phone buzzes randomly for the first few minutes after being plugged in. Sounds like I'm getting a notification, but there's nothing showing. Bugged me to no end, so now I'm back to the new LG charger. I may try to just swap out the cable and see what happens.

Yeah there's something up with other Micro USB cables.. My car charger causes the phone to do this exact same thing.
Mine does the exact same thing. One thing I did notice is the charger seems to fit better and be more snug, making it less likely for charging issues to occur like the cord coming out. Im still getting used to the way to plug it in, but i like it a lot more. I constantly had the cord being loose or having to be in a certain position on my HTC One X+. Glad to know mine isnt the only one that way. :good:

it makes it more secure, you're less likely to break it this way... it's not a bad thing
my new tMobile G3 is doing the same freak'n thing.
the phone itself is [email protected]$$ but the port is def. a manufacturer defect.
I don't know where every one is getting this, "more secure" b.s.
It's not more secure and it may very well snap that small extension in half after some time if we're not careful enough.

I think the idea is to give the port a little more flex. there are a lot of returns on phones is the usb port coming loose, and causing improper charging, i think it was an attempt to fix a problem... and your right only time will tell if its worthy fix or just BS... lol
