Alright so i recently decided to try out Windows Phone 7 for myself as ive been really curious and i love the metro style. So i recently went onto Amazon, and i got myself a Samsung Omnia 7 (im in the U.S with Tmobile) and a Samsung Galaxy SII , and the Omnia 7 it came factory unlocked and on OS version 7004 (just updated to 7008) i have so far loved the phone and WP7, but i would love to customize the color of the tiles, i want to install the color changer app to do so, but how do i get it onto my phone?? Do i have to relock and unlock my phone again in order to jailbreak it? What are the easiest steps i can take to get this customization onto my phone? I would also love to get NoDO but i dont really beed it that much i just want the color changer. If anyone could help that would be great!

Carrier unlocked and developer unlocked are 2 different things. Yours came carrier unlocked. What you need to do is use ChevronWP7 to developer unlock. Once you do that and the registry hack to keep it unlocked you can install the accent color changer and update to NODO and still maintain the developer unlock.

I'm suffering with Unlocking my Samsung Galaxy S, Vibrant T9595 T-Mobile, already paid some hackers to unlock it, however seem to be a total fraud.
I was wondering if i can Download a fresh copy of Android, Flush my Mobile completely and re-install Android 2.2 on my mobile.
I know i can do this, however i really dont know where to start, specially that i Just moved to Android From Iphone and new for this.
Your Guidance will be highly appreciated.
There are free apps in market that unlock your phone. Just search galaxy s unlock.
Nope there are nill.
Galaxy S Vibrant T959 T-Mobile is not yet cracked according to XDA.
yes you can crack Galaxy S,but not this model, i have tried it all so far, been working long hours on that but still nothing so far...
i have Galaxy S I-9000 and it was sim-locked for french carrier.
i used the "sgs unlock tool" to have the unlock code, then i put another carriers's sim card and then i put the code.
It is written that it doesn't work (on the phone) but it does.
Try it this way and tell us
Thanks Cedric for your suggestion I will download the tool and keep you posted with the feedback.
currently on nodo 7392, never get the update notification.
on the microsoft "where's my update" page for international devices, tmobile(deutsche telekom, right?) update schedule is marked as "Except Samsung Omnia 7 models".
however, other carriers(at&t), are marked as "testing for some models, planning for other models" instead of "except some model".
so i am wondering if there will be any mango update for us unlucky tmobile omnia 7 users. all i get from tmobile custom service is "i dont know".
btw, my phone bootloader version is that notorious 4.10.1.9 so i can't flash 3rd party rom into it. even if i can, it requires several times of rolling back and update, and it will be pain
hey man, i am in the same position, omnia 7, t-mobile germany, unlocked using a three sim.
on 7.0.9392.0 bootloader 5.2.1.4
i bought this phone for mango(and spotify)...and this is f*****g KILLING ME not getting it
if anybody can step by step how to get it, computer knowledge is good so dont worry about getting technical.
You can use a USB / Resistor jig to force 4.10.1.9 into download mode.
(I had that bootloader and managed to do so) There are instructions on how to do so in the Omnia 7 section of the forum - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092824&highlight=usb+jig
As for the update itself, I had no problems updating from 7390 (4.10.1.9) via the official 7392 update.
I'm waiting on the official notfication before upgrading to Mango.
thanks for that.
I got an htc chacha as my backup today and i'll try that on my omnia
Sent from my HTC ChaCha A810e using XDA App
all right, microsoft finally shed some light on this. the update schedule page has been updated and it says omnia 7 models are under testing now.
Has anyone made any progress on Interop-Unlock or a Custom Rom for CDMA HTCs, more specifically the HTC Arrive?
I've been searching
I've been searching for a long time now. I love my Arrive. I don't think anyone is trying to work on this. I've been searching for custom roms , interop unlock , advanced configuration. But nothing. I've found nothing. Almost every other device. Has this. Or has a way to get these. But I think the arrive is dead in the water.
The Verizon HTC Trophy is in the same boat. Blame the lack of CDMA interest and the fact that the only way to interop unlock an HTC device so far on mango, is to use the HTC Configuration app which is only relevant to GSM devices. That is why the Arrive and Trophy devices haven't been broken yet. There is a team working on a unlocked bootloader for the Arrive and possibly with it the trophy so once that is released, we can get custom roms and finally have full access to our phones.
It is funny to me, how back in the WM6.x days, the CDMA Sprint Touch Pro(2) was the king of hack devices for custom roms and whatnot, and sadly I think many of those people went to Android or other carriers. It is sad since the Arrive does carry some of the TP2's legacy, but I still think both carriers should start wanting more CDMA windows phones. A CDMA HD2 never came, how about a CDMA Titan? Tempting as heck but I am not jumping ship from sprint for a phone. :/
you said it.
I agree with everything you said. I can't wait for custom roms for the Arrive. I miss my touch pro 2 it was so fun I still have it but now wp7 is in the spot light and I just want to hack the shi.... Out of it. But I'm stuck waiting for someone to unlock it. If I had the knowledge I would do it. And I know here in xda there has to be someone with that knowledge. That's why I'm waiting . Most of you senior members have that knowledge. And I know you guys will crack it. Thanks guys.
Well , CDMA Trophy (Verizon) is just fine , because it is a global device and has a bypass . It does make me worry about future devices that may not be global though .
I recently found out someone i know has the Arrive . Whenever i get a chance im going to tinker a bit with it to see if i can find any weird bugs to take advantage of like the Verizon bypass . I wouldnt EXPECT anything . It all lies in getting connection setup to run . Who knows .. maybe something can trick it ..everyone said Verizon would not work as well , and that turned out to be a simple solution .
All of us lowly Arrive users would love to have a solution to this. Especially since Sprint does not appear to want any more windows phones. At least till the fall that is.
I would be happy to help. I have a student dev-unlocked arrive running 8107.
Yeah all this because Microsoft got greedy and copied the iPhone. And they wonder why their sales suck. LOL, Microsoft just needs to admit they screwed up and give us back what Windows Moible use to be about, screw the iPhone.

you sound like a broken disk
I have been a symbian fanboy and I found windows phone very interesting.
I decided to buy a windowsphone.
What I found after following windowsphone for sometime is that this os has some restrictions.
some of those restrictions like bt file sharing, usb mass storage mode etc can be lifted if you can unlock your phone completely.
I decided to buy 2nd gen phones like lumia 800 so that I can unlock them using chevron labs.but there seems to be no more new tokens.
but as of now there is no way to jailbreak 2nd gen phones.
So I decided to go for samsung focus.
what I fear now is will it be upgraded to windowsphone 8 or not?
will there be any method coming in the future to unlock 2nd gen phones?
I like to mod and install unsigned apps .
please suggest me friends what to do?
Well, there are no promises in hacking. It seems you have done your research so you kinda answered your own questions as much as anyone else could. Nobody knows what devices will get WP8 since MS hasnt stated anything one way or the other offcially. Basically if you want to mod to the fullest extent you need a first gen htc or samsung, to a lesser extent a second gen samsung should do fine. If you want to be sure to get WP8 wait untill MS says what will and what won't get it.
So far, all Windows phones have gotten all of the signifficant updates. We'll see how long this holds true, but the (admittedly short) history of the OS says that even though some devices may be a bit later than others, everybody gets the major updates. Microsoft seems to have committed to this pretty strongly. My guess is that they'll ship updates for all phones sold within a two-year period of the update coming out, since that's where people will be in contracts (I know some places do three-year contracts, but at the rate tech advances, three years is a long time).
The Focus was still on sale just a few months ago. I fully expect it to get updates through at least Windows Phone 8.5 (late 2013, by the current twice-annual-significant-update schedule). No guarantees, of course, but that's my guess.
Additionally, you should be able to send updates via CAB files even if the phone falls out of official support. The firmware will get out of date, which might make some features of the new OSes less valuable (for example, Mango added the managed Compass API, but a firmware update was needed to make it usable). Bugfixes and major features will probably keep on coming, though. If nothing else, the Samsung gen1 phones have unlockable bootloaders, so you can install custom ROMs. The fact that you can run WP7 build 8107 on the HD2 - a phone that wasn't supposed to run WP7 at all - suggests that the Focus will probably be viable for quite some time.
I decided to go for samsung focus.
but I have a small doubt.
I havr read that windows break project does not work if firmware version is kk2.
so if I get focus with kk2 firmware,is there any way to downgrade to previous firmware and apply windows break?
if I get focus without mango(which might be the case in my country),after applying windows break and updating to mango, will focus be interop-locked again?
is the interop-unlock and bootloader unlock same?
if so how to unlock bootloader and install custom roms?
sorry for barrage of questions as iam a noob.
any help woukd be appreciated?
It's possible to downgrade the firmware, yes. Just flash an older (stock) ROM onto your phone.
Mango will reset your dev-unlock status, which probably means losing both interop-unlock and dev-unlock. However, you can interop-unlock after upgrading to Mango (interop-lock didn't even exist pre-Mango).
To avoid getting KK2 by accident, you should stop the update process as soon after getting Mango as you can. Then, use WindowBreak. You cna then install the remaining updates if you want to, I guess, but I'd suggest avoiding KK2 until a really good reason for it shows up.
Interop-unlock is completley different from bootloader unlock, though both are (indirectly) ways to get more access. Unlocking the bootloader is required for installing custom ROMs, which typically come "full-unlocked" and can do things not even possible with interop-unlock (at this time). Interop-unlock lets you install lots of homebrew apps, and lets you install homebrew apps that call into high-privilege drivers as a way to break out of the sandbox.
To look at it a different way, Interop-unlock is required in order to use an app like WP7 Root Tools. A custom ROM (requires an unlocked bootloader) has everything run as root, so WP7 Root Tools is hardly needed (though still useful just for the browser/editor tools).
For unlocking the bootloader and using custom ROMs, see the DFT threads on the Dev&Hacking sub-forum. In particular: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485569

thanks mate you have been so helpful to me.
btw how to stop updation process just after mango so that kk2 fw wont be installed on my phone?
will kk2 be shown as separate update or does it come with mango?
I think most the chefs turn the auto update off. I could be wrong, but my phone has not auto updated. I am using Nextgen ROM.
Updates are installed in order. After each one, the Zune software will check for more updates. You can cancel the update process at any time except when the phone is actually being flashed. There's a cancel button on the Zune software, or you can even just pull the USB cable. Since the updating process involve multiple reboots of the phone, and each one takes some time, it should be pretty easy to catch if you're paying attention.
KK2 is usually, though not always, pushed with 8107. It should not be pushed with 7720, which came out many months before KK2. 7720 is the first release Mango build. I recommend stopping after 7720, though 7740 may also be OK.

Currently both Rogers and ATT have not pushed the KK2 firmware to the Focus, only the Omnia 7 has had the newest firmware pushed to it so you should be fine. If you plan on installing a custom ROM I DO suggest fully updating to 8107 via Zune to get the most upto date radio and then flashing the custom ROM to get the best battery/signal ect. (I suggest starting with the Rogers 7004 firmware since it updates all the way to 8107 via Zune where as the ATT one does not, as long as you have a v1.3 Focus it will flash fine on an ATT phone)
EDIT: also if you want a nice clean starting point to start you modding on your focus perhaps you might want to try my ROM posted in my sig below --v

I don't think that Nokia is getting exclusive features from microsoft. And there might be ways to port the nokia software but you never know. So if you're using your phone for navigation I would suggest you buying the nokia as this would give you a legal and good offline navi. Otherwise I'd go for the samsung for freedom reasons.
I just switched to the G Flex 2 from Windows Phone, figuring there'd be custom roms available, but...uh, I'm rummaging through the forums and not seeing anything. The phone is okay--I've rooted it and removed the crapware from the factory, but that's not really ideal. I was hoping for a vanilla Android ROM. What's the word?
Locked bootloader. No workaround yet.

Seriously? LG locked the bootloader? What a bunch of pricks. As if it wasn't bad enough to have to deal with the awful Android UI, having no custom roms sucks even more, LOL.
Guess I should've gone Samsung after all. Crap.
Er. Kind of like the ui. Hence why i bought this phone

I thought I could get used to it, but it's just nowhere near as polished as Windows Phone 8.1. The reason I switched was because Windows 10 mobile sucks giant balls, but what I didn't realize is that it sucks because it's so much like Android now. Windows 10 Mobile is like Android with a cheap live tiles skin over top. Not half as nice as 8.1.
Sigh. I guess I'm gonna have to sell this and find something else.
Id check the play store. Bet you will find a launcher to enjoy.
i emailed LG Customer Support and ask if in future they unlock the bootloader and when g flex 2 will get the marshmallow update. Surprising, they call me its sayz LG does't unlock BL for users safe. And they confirm that marshmallow update will come on february / march 2016.
