[Q] Can i Flush my Galaxy S Vibrant & Install Android 2.2? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I'm suffering with Unlocking my Samsung Galaxy S, Vibrant T9595 T-Mobile, already paid some hackers to unlock it, however seem to be a total fraud.
I was wondering if i can Download a fresh copy of Android, Flush my Mobile completely and re-install Android 2.2 on my mobile.
I know i can do this, however i really dont know where to start, specially that i Just moved to Android From Iphone and new for this.
Your Guidance will be highly appreciated.

There are free apps in market that unlock your phone. Just search galaxy s unlock.

Nope there are nill.
Galaxy S Vibrant T959 T-Mobile is not yet cracked according to XDA.
yes you can crack Galaxy S,but not this model, i have tried it all so far, been working long hours on that but still nothing so far...

i have Galaxy S I-9000 and it was sim-locked for french carrier.
i used the "sgs unlock tool" to have the unlock code, then i put another carriers's sim card and then i put the code.
It is written that it doesn't work (on the phone) but it does.
Try it this way and tell us

Thanks Cedric for your suggestion I will download the tool and keep you posted with the feedback.

Help with my Samsung Captivate

I just rooted my phone but I was just wondering what there is to do on my phone now that it is rooted.
Such as can I download themes and do crazy s-hit like that or do I need a SD card to do all this?
I am just looking for a little information or possibly a link to a place where people talk about what apps they like on there Samsung Captivate.
I have been thinking about getting rid of my samsung captivate to go back to iphone but dont want to switch yet until I have found out what all I can do on my Galaxy s.

[q] custom rom samsung exhibit ii 4g?!

ok so the exhibit isn't really that popular of a phone, but I'm in need of a custom ROM so I can get rid of this bloatware!! I've seen that recently the rooting for the device came out, which is awesome, but I would really love to get a custom ROM for it....I've messed with every one of the ROMS I could find on ROM Manager, although OBVIOUSLY it's not compatible with my device...
The closest I got was with the Galaxy S i9000 Flash Recovery..but still no luck..does anyone know when to expect a custom ROM for the exhibit II 4G (T679)?????
You don't need a custom ROM, just root the device and use something like Root Uninstaller to get rid of the bloatware. That's what I did with my Exhibit II.
I still want a custom ROM on there.
well I did root it..and did some uninstalling with titanium backup, but it would be awesome to have a custom rom like cyanogenmod or miui ..
android is nothing like iOS :\ so hard to get used to..

Does anyone know if any devs are working on this? I am definitely willing to throw a good amount of change to any Dec willing to tackle this project.
I have got my phone unlocked (from T-Mobile)!!
I got my phone unlocked from local market (Gaffar Market, New Delhi) in India.
But I am unable to use GPRS on my mobile. I called up call center of service provider (Airtel). They said they sms-ed me the configuration. I received the SMS which read-
Airtel: Dear Customer the service is currently not enabled for your phone.
Please suggest what should I do to use my phone with 2G services (I only use 2G services as 3G services are very expensive currently in India).
yea, that's the thing about this phone, I don't have unlimited data plan of 4G so when I turned it off, I couldn't send or receive some of the messages, and when I called, all they told me was I had to activate data to let mms thru..
is there a section dedicated to the Exhibit II 4G in xda yet?, if not for ROMS, just General Discussions and Q&A...

Hey why dont you try to get setting manually from samsung galaxy device running Gingerbread and copy same to ur cellphone.
may i ask, how much u paid to unlock it? i also bought one...which will come by next month in india?
I've rooted my phone with zergrush. Can't wait to flash a cm7 rom. I've been told it will overwrite the carrieriq software that's embedded in my exhibit II currently. Is that correct? Thank you devs for all your hard work. They first have to develope a recovery rom and then they can start developing a custom cm7 rom , so don't put too much hope into it coming out in the next few days.
Does anyone know of another forum following the Exhibit II's progress more closely?

[Q] Unlock/Root/Cyanogen NEW SGH-T959V Samsung GalaxyS 4G

In the process of searching, yes.. I watched the newb vid... but just in case my situation is a bit unique... I thought I'd hopefully save myself a bit of time and get some quality advice.
Goal: Unlock, Root and install Cyanogen Rom before I ever try to activate a Sim.
Requirements: Advice, tools, directions and all under Windows 7, with NO carrier network active. Side-loading only.
Hardware available: PC/Windows7, 1 New Standard Galaxy S 4G Packaging, 1 new unused T-Mobile Sim, 2 used T-moble sims, 1 Galaxy S 4G with broken display.
Scenario in a Nutshell: Have 1 new Galaxy S 4G compliments of Samsung, no longer have T-Mobile and need to prep the phone to be AT&T ready. Got a rep lined up and everything... Just need to slap an AT&T sim in and see if she'll will work... I also have 1 Galaxy S 4G with a broken display (they are very fragile, wish I had known before I bought one).
I didnt see a cyanogenmod ROM but check the bible link below, it has everything you're looking for:

Helpful links. Good places to start. But running into some hiccups. I'll post later on the additional steps I have to take as it might be helpful to someone on down the road. Keep in mind I don't have access to the Market/Play. I'm having to discover SDK, install it, learn to us it and then the same for .apks... major learning curves here.

Vodafone Australia Samsung GT-i9300i

Hi all,
I'm a noob. I was an iPhone user and am new to the Samsung Galaxy S3 (best move I ever made).
I love anything custom, I'd like to flash and root, and anything else of the sort, my Vodafone Australia Samsung Galaxy S3. However, I'm not sure where I belong in the forums? What version is my phone? (e.g. sprint mobile, t-mobile, whatever they all are). Which ROM's would work on my phone?
Thanks in advance,
Julia
made the right choice in exchange, I'll see if I can find the right forum for your device and post here: Rir:

If you want only a different appearance then you don't need to root your phone. Its better not to take risk for you are new to your phone. If you want to overclock your phone or want to try out different roms then you can root your phone. But it voids your warranty so, its your decision.

[Completed] [Q] need help picking a new phone

I currently use a Samsung Galaxy SIII on verizon. I did the whole rooting and bootloader thing (whatever you call it). Im in the market for a new phone and was wanting some insight on what new phones are out there that i can do the same thing. I love the ability to load custom roms and do away with all the bloatware that come with every phone. Can some one help out with letting me know what phone still has the capability to root like i did my SG3. I keep reading that the new galaxy phones are impossible to root anymore. I was leaning towards the note 4 but it looks like theres not root for it. Im looking for a phone that I know can be rooted (along with the bootloader) and where i can use custom roms. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Hi,
you won't get your question answered on XDA. I suggest you search for the best phone you should pick yourself. For the ability to root the phone you desire, I recommend you to have a look if there is a device forum on XDA and that the phone is rootable.
Good luck!
