ok so the exhibit isn't really that popular of a phone, but I'm in need of a custom ROM so I can get rid of this bloatware!! I've seen that recently the rooting for the device came out, which is awesome, but I would really love to get a custom ROM for it....I've messed with every one of the ROMS I could find on ROM Manager, although OBVIOUSLY it's not compatible with my device...
The closest I got was with the Galaxy S i9000 Flash Recovery..but still no luck..does anyone know when to expect a custom ROM for the exhibit II 4G (T679)?????
You don't need a custom ROM, just root the device and use something like Root Uninstaller to get rid of the bloatware. That's what I did with my Exhibit II.
I still want a custom ROM on there.
well I did root it..and did some uninstalling with titanium backup, but it would be awesome to have a custom rom like cyanogenmod or miui ..
android is nothing like iOS :\ so hard to get used to..

Does anyone know if any devs are working on this? I am definitely willing to throw a good amount of change to any Dec willing to tackle this project.
I have got my phone unlocked (from T-Mobile)!!
I got my phone unlocked from local market (Gaffar Market, New Delhi) in India.
But I am unable to use GPRS on my mobile. I called up call center of service provider (Airtel). They said they sms-ed me the configuration. I received the SMS which read-
Airtel: Dear Customer the service is currently not enabled for your phone.
Please suggest what should I do to use my phone with 2G services (I only use 2G services as 3G services are very expensive currently in India).
yea, that's the thing about this phone, I don't have unlimited data plan of 4G so when I turned it off, I couldn't send or receive some of the messages, and when I called, all they told me was I had to activate data to let mms thru..
is there a section dedicated to the Exhibit II 4G in xda yet?, if not for ROMS, just General Discussions and Q&A...

Hey why dont you try to get setting manually from samsung galaxy device running Gingerbread and copy same to ur cellphone.
may i ask, how much u paid to unlock it? i also bought one...which will come by next month in india?
I've rooted my phone with zergrush. Can't wait to flash a cm7 rom. I've been told it will overwrite the carrieriq software that's embedded in my exhibit II currently. Is that correct? Thank you devs for all your hard work. They first have to develope a recovery rom and then they can start developing a custom cm7 rom , so don't put too much hope into it coming out in the next few days.
Does anyone know of another forum following the Exhibit II's progress more closely?

I'm suffering with Unlocking my Samsung Galaxy S, Vibrant T9595 T-Mobile, already paid some hackers to unlock it, however seem to be a total fraud.
I was wondering if i can Download a fresh copy of Android, Flush my Mobile completely and re-install Android 2.2 on my mobile.
I know i can do this, however i really dont know where to start, specially that i Just moved to Android From Iphone and new for this.
Your Guidance will be highly appreciated.
There are free apps in market that unlock your phone. Just search galaxy s unlock.
Nope there are nill.
Galaxy S Vibrant T959 T-Mobile is not yet cracked according to XDA.
yes you can crack Galaxy S,but not this model, i have tried it all so far, been working long hours on that but still nothing so far...
i have Galaxy S I-9000 and it was sim-locked for french carrier.
i used the "sgs unlock tool" to have the unlock code, then i put another carriers's sim card and then i put the code.
It is written that it doesn't work (on the phone) but it does.
Try it this way and tell us
Thanks Cedric for your suggestion I will download the tool and keep you posted with the feedback.

if samsung has not decleared it officially even though everybody know unofficially by default that samsung will never give us ICS. Never mind still I am happy with 2.3.6 version & waiting for 2.3.7 version...!
this is not official by samsung.this list only includes the devices which has been confirmed for the update and devices which doesn't have any confirmation are stated as will not get ICS.we CAN get confirmation in future but chances for that are very less.

sorry folks its official
Samsung is no where near lg...when lg can update optimus black...samsung is not only abandoning our phone, even the original galaxy s doesn't get the update...how sad!!

Very little hope of that too. He's got no time for the i9003 and its just lying around somewhere in his house. This phone is one of those unfortunate ones that no one seems to care about or even remember. ROM Manager still doesn't recognize it, most forums don't even acknowledge its existence and Samsung doesn't give two rats about it.
You either have to live with GB, wait for someone to port CM9 (unlikely) or maybe IF Samsung decide to throw a 4.0.x update at it later or just move on to another device that is actually popular and supported by the larger dev community.
I personally got frustrated and went for the Galaxy Nexus but I still have my i9003 and care about it. Its a pretty good device but one of the least supported. The Optimus Black, Droid X and other similar phones have plenty support. Even the super cheap low-end LG, HTC and Samsung phones have more support than the i9003. Its just a mystery why! Samsung just didn't release this device in enough countries.

Pretty sad considering that the original GS and its US variants are basically the Nexus S which already has the update.
At least they left the device running nicely on Gingerbread (even if you need to use ODIN to upgrade depending on your region)
Petition.
If you guys still are in hope of ICS for the i9003, go HERE and sign the petition.
Remember to add the optional message and mention the i9003.
Keep it civil though.
So sammy doesn't seem to honor the 18 months update schedule? Original i9000 was released long ago and i9003 deserves ICS according to the plan...
its not official
i9003 has not completed the 12months support period thats y samsung has to rlease it otherwise we can always ask samsung to xchange our phonz with GALAXY SII
Is that possible .... can we demand such a way?

I didn't know abt the 12 or 18 month support thing... Where is this mentioned??
Can somebody guide with a Internet link or whatever so that I can check..
If that's viable then we don't have to start a petition or anything., instead complaint to our respective Consumer Support Forums.. (no disrespect, but petitions are crap which'll never work)
Samsung threw us(
the industry won't let this happen... new phones will get ics officialy, older phones just will get it modded... always works in that way.
Hi Guys, I am planning to buy this phone, I am from Mexico and before I make the purchase I have a few questions and since I have been around with the HD2 for about a year now, I don't know anything related this one.
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s_ii_skyrocket_i727-4303.php
- Is there as much development for this specific model as the vanilla S2 one?
- I saw in a sticky thread that there is a way to unlock a S2 with an app, is it possible with this model?
- Since I will be using it in Mexico (Telcel carrier, GSM) I won't receive the ICS update right? but I guess I will be able to root it and then upgrade it following a guide in the Android development subforum?
- Does anyone tested the MHL (HDMI adapter) with this specific model or at least with the vanilla S2? How is it working so far?
- What are your thoughts overall about this phone?
Thanks guys, I know these are common questions but after reading some posts I would like some fresh ideas.

- Is there as much development for this specific model as the vanilla S2 one? The phone is relatively new and the AOSP hasn't been released yet, so it's only going to get better.
- I saw in a sticky thread that there is a way to unlock a S2 with an app, is it possible with this model? There's multiple ways to unlock it as you can see in the development thread. I used the One Click Root method on my phone and it worked perfectly
- Since I will be using it in Mexico (Telcel carrier, GSM) I won't receive the ICS update right? but I guess I will be able to root it and then upgrade it following a guide in the Android development subforum? I don't see why you shouldn't receive the ICS update, but yeah if you don't you can install a custom version instead.
- Does anyone tested the MHL (HDMI adapter) with this specific model or at least with the vanilla S2? How is it working so far? Can't speak to this yet.
- What are your thoughts overall about this phone? Very good and will probably only get better once ICS is released and LTE is deployed more. Screen isn't the best ever (not up to Galaxy Nexus level) but definitely acceptable
Thanks guys, I know these are common questions but after reading some posts I would like some fresh ideas.

Thanks for your quick answers!
But do you recommend me to get the Skyrocket better than the vanilla SG2?
I do recommend it over the van. SG2. Better features. The screen IMO is perfect for a phone. One thing you have to consider is the better the screen the more power it's going to consume. I feel the screen was perfect for this phone. Take the LG Nitro HD for example it has an AH-IPS display. Battery only lasts 4-6 hrs max. I'm expecting to see official support for CM9 after one of the carriers drop a ICS rom for this phone (or a close sister phone from like TMobile). Once CM9 is out for this phone that's all I'll use.
Ok so i have the Galaxy
S2 skyrocket for att and i realize other people have this phone (outside att) and they say the ics update is already available and in att.com its available for the Samsung Galaxy S2 (first one launched), when i connect my phone to Samsung Kies on my PC it says that the phone does not support updating via kies.. i was wondering when the update would be available for the phone and how in att cause damn its the second best phone of samsung in ATT ><
We don't know exactly when the official date it, it was speculated around the end of this month and some say maybe a different month.
We did get a recent leak from Design Gears on a later build of ICS which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719432 Thats the closest ICS stock you will get to with it being ATT (has ATT bloat :good: ).
Other options if you want to have ICS on the phone is getting a custom ROM based on ICS and there is plenty on here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1383 (SKY ICS is a favorite one)
There is also other ones that have no bloat but are still in testing such as CM9 (what I currently use) and AOKP which recently got an official for Skyrocket.
http://get.cm/?device=skyrocket (CM9)
http://aokp.co/index.php/news (AOKP) (Unicorns anyone? :silly: )
But to answer your question. Samsung Galaxy SII has official ICS release while Skyrocket is still on the waiting list.
lock this dumb thread.

Hi all,
I'm a noob. I was an iPhone user and am new to the Samsung Galaxy S3 (best move I ever made).
I love anything custom, I'd like to flash and root, and anything else of the sort, my Vodafone Australia Samsung Galaxy S3. However, I'm not sure where I belong in the forums? What version is my phone? (e.g. sprint mobile, t-mobile, whatever they all are). Which ROM's would work on my phone?
Thanks in advance,
Julia
made the right choice in exchange, I'll see if I can find the right forum for your device and post here: Rir:

If you want only a different appearance then you don't need to root your phone. Its better not to take risk for you are new to your phone. If you want to overclock your phone or want to try out different roms then you can root your phone. But it voids your warranty so, its your decision.
