[Q] Unlock/Root/Cyanogen NEW SGH-T959V Samsung GalaxyS 4G - General Questions and Answers

In the process of searching, yes.. I watched the newb vid... but just in case my situation is a bit unique... I thought I'd hopefully save myself a bit of time and get some quality advice.
Goal: Unlock, Root and install Cyanogen Rom before I ever try to activate a Sim.
Requirements: Advice, tools, directions and all under Windows 7, with NO carrier network active. Side-loading only.
Hardware available: PC/Windows7, 1 New Standard Galaxy S 4G Packaging, 1 new unused T-Mobile Sim, 2 used T-moble sims, 1 Galaxy S 4G with broken display.
Scenario in a Nutshell: Have 1 new Galaxy S 4G compliments of Samsung, no longer have T-Mobile and need to prep the phone to be AT&T ready. Got a rep lined up and everything... Just need to slap an AT&T sim in and see if she'll will work... I also have 1 Galaxy S 4G with a broken display (they are very fragile, wish I had known before I bought one).

I didnt see a cyanogenmod ROM but check the bible link below, it has everything you're looking for:

Root:

CWM:

SIM Unlock:

Helpful links. Good places to start. But running into some hiccups. I'll post later on the additional steps I have to take as it might be helpful to someone on down the road. Keep in mind I don't have access to the Market/Play. I'm having to discover SDK, install it, learn to us it and then the same for .apks... major learning curves here.

[Q] Can i Flush my Galaxy S Vibrant & Install Android 2.2?

I'm suffering with Unlocking my Samsung Galaxy S, Vibrant T9595 T-Mobile, already paid some hackers to unlock it, however seem to be a total fraud.
I was wondering if i can Download a fresh copy of Android, Flush my Mobile completely and re-install Android 2.2 on my mobile.
I know i can do this, however i really dont know where to start, specially that i Just moved to Android From Iphone and new for this.
Your Guidance will be highly appreciated.
There are free apps in market that unlock your phone. Just search galaxy s unlock.
Nope there are nill.
Galaxy S Vibrant T959 T-Mobile is not yet cracked according to XDA.
yes you can crack Galaxy S,but not this model, i have tried it all so far, been working long hours on that but still nothing so far...
i have Galaxy S I-9000 and it was sim-locked for french carrier.
i used the "sgs unlock tool" to have the unlock code, then i put another carriers's sim card and then i put the code.
It is written that it doesn't work (on the phone) but it does.
Try it this way and tell us
Thanks Cedric for your suggestion I will download the tool and keep you posted with the feedback.

A few questions that I am concerned

Hi Guys, I am planning to buy this phone, I am from Mexico and before I make the purchase I have a few questions and since I have been around with the HD2 for about a year now, I don't know anything related this one.
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s_ii_skyrocket_i727-4303.php
- Is there as much development for this specific model as the vanilla S2 one?
- I saw in a sticky thread that there is a way to unlock a S2 with an app, is it possible with this model?
- Since I will be using it in Mexico (Telcel carrier, GSM) I won't receive the ICS update right? but I guess I will be able to root it and then upgrade it following a guide in the Android development subforum?
- Does anyone tested the MHL (HDMI adapter) with this specific model or at least with the vanilla S2? How is it working so far?
- What are your thoughts overall about this phone?
Thanks guys, I know these are common questions but after reading some posts I would like some fresh ideas.

- Is there as much development for this specific model as the vanilla S2 one? The phone is relatively new and the AOSP hasn't been released yet, so it's only going to get better.
- I saw in a sticky thread that there is a way to unlock a S2 with an app, is it possible with this model? There's multiple ways to unlock it as you can see in the development thread. I used the One Click Root method on my phone and it worked perfectly
- Since I will be using it in Mexico (Telcel carrier, GSM) I won't receive the ICS update right? but I guess I will be able to root it and then upgrade it following a guide in the Android development subforum? I don't see why you shouldn't receive the ICS update, but yeah if you don't you can install a custom version instead.
- Does anyone tested the MHL (HDMI adapter) with this specific model or at least with the vanilla S2? How is it working so far? Can't speak to this yet.
- What are your thoughts overall about this phone? Very good and will probably only get better once ICS is released and LTE is deployed more. Screen isn't the best ever (not up to Galaxy Nexus level) but definitely acceptable
Thanks guys, I know these are common questions but after reading some posts I would like some fresh ideas.

Thanks for your quick answers!
But do you recommend me to get the Skyrocket better than the vanilla SG2?
I do recommend it over the van. SG2. Better features. The screen IMO is perfect for a phone. One thing you have to consider is the better the screen the more power it's going to consume. I feel the screen was perfect for this phone. Take the LG Nitro HD for example it has an AH-IPS display. Battery only lasts 4-6 hrs max. I'm expecting to see official support for CM9 after one of the carriers drop a ICS rom for this phone (or a close sister phone from like TMobile). Once CM9 is out for this phone that's all I'll use.

Understanding ADB, and suggestions to an aspiring developer.

I'll just throw it out there: someday I want to work for Google on Android. There, I said it. You've gotta dream big, right?
But I'm completely serious about it, and I know that means starting from the bottom and doing the little things, like playing with the Android SDK, rooting, the app inventor, and other simple things like that.
However, I look at forums and see all these posts about unlocking bootloaders and using adb and I'm just lost, especially with adb. I've been trying to understand it since I got my first Android phone back in 2010. I've read countless articles online about adb: what it is, how to use it, and how it works, but I still don't get it. I also know that adb is a pretty basic thing when it comes to development.
I currently have two Android devices I use regularly: my AT&T Atrix 2 is running stock 4.0.4 ICS and is rooted, but it's going to be replaced soon by a VZW Galaxy S4 or HTC One, if they ever get it. My Acer Iconia Tab A700 is running stock 4.1 Jelly Bean, and isn't rooted.
The devices I don't use anymore are my original Atrix 4G, which fell victim to a custom ROM tragedy (hard brick), and I also have my old HTC Aria (my first Android phone, which I flashed a Froyo ROM to shortly after getting it) currently running CM7 which I used for about a month until my Atrix 2 replaced my original one.
I'm out of luck when it comes to downloading things to play around with as my home internet is an AT&T 3G MiFi with a 5GB monthly data limit (shared by a family of four) and my phone has a 2GB limit.
I just finished up my first year of college as a Computer and Multimedia Graphics major, and I'll be taking courses on Computer Maintenance, Animation, GUI Design, and 3D Modeling among others.
So all the ranting aside, is there some easier explanation of adb that someone could give to me, and give me some starting advice with developing and hacking?
If you want to work for Google/Android, the first thing to do would be to read the official documentation :
hxxp://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html
And you can find some nice tutorial like the one below on the internets:

[Q] Samsung Rugby Pro

Hello everyone, I have been a long time subscriber, but sadly this is my first post, and since I have less than 10 posts, I can't really post in the developers forums. Thing is I recently switched carriers where I had a Galaxy S3, surprisingly still a relevant phone, I had it running CM 11, and I was happy with it. However since I left Verizon for Straight Talk, I had to first get a phone that was compatible with AT&T, since they wouldn't fully support my S3 (supposed to be a world phone, I know, I know), and I wanted the option to switch phone whenever I felt the need or want. So the phone I ended up with was a Samsung Rugby Pro, on paper it seems to have very similar hardware wit the S3, so I picked it up for $30 (good deal I thought). boy this phone was slowwww running Touch Wiz, so I rooted it, and put the latest version of CM that I could find which is CM 10 unofficial. Does anyone know where I can find any other ROMs for this device? It appears that development for this phone never really went far, unlike other devices, and CM 10 was all I can find for the Rugby, and it would be fine if I could get it to read the external SD card, I really don't want to go back to TW. So this is also my attempt at interacting with the great minds on this incredible resource. Thanks

recommend a good rootable phablet as a second phone?

I have a Nexus 6, stock, not rooted. it is my main phone, and i use it with project Fi.
BUT, i'm looking for a backup phone to replace one i just recently lost.
i still also have my old grandfathered ATT unlimited data plan from back when the iphone first came out, and i was using that sim in my old galaxy note 2, rooted, with various AOSP roms on it. now trouble is, i've lost my old note 2.
So what I'm looking for is:
easily rootable without a buggy hack like a patched kernel
5.5" screen size if possible, preferably bigger
current enough to run a Marshmallow AOSP rom, but does not have to be blazing fast
it's beginning to look like the note 2 is still the way to go...
