I'm trying to set up HTC Sense. I have signed in on the PC and set it up on my phone. On the computer it just says that it is doing the intial sync and may take a few hours. Its been up all day. I am running the new gingerbread radio with Ginger Bamf. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit.....I just checked and it is still syncing. All I can do is make the phone ring from my pc.
It may be just something I've heard wrong but I think most HTC hub things like sync are not working since this version isn't really a HTC product. I would give it a try a little longer but I really don't think it works for some reason. I know like downloading skins off of HTC's website and such does not work on my phone running 2.0. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

OK...Let me first start by saying thank you to all the people here at XDA that have tried to help me with my new phone. I build themes for the Google Android Market and when I went to the HTC HD2, Windows was not helping me at all. Thanks to everyone I was able to, being a NOOB as you call it, flash my first NAND to my phone. It works great!! Sure there are a few bugs here and there but it is great.
Now there is an update. My phone will connect to the PC via USB, however when I try to run the DAF.exe to flash the update......no dice. I keep getting the same error.

My Radio is current, my MAGDL thingy is current as far as I know 1.11, and no one can tell me really how to get around this issue....well let me correct that....there is the way of starting I think from the beginning however that scares me to death considering I do not really know where to look for the Windows Stock rom to flash to my phone, and if I make a mistake and brick my phone.....oh man am I screwed.....oops can you say that on here? I mean in big trouble.
Anyway.....don't want to write a book, I know too late, just looking to fix the issue or just learn how to get around my USB connection issue.....Thanks again to everyone on the board, you are all great and very good at what you do.....I can never get over how smart the human race really is.......it is truly an amazing thing.....

do you guys think it will become possible ? im considering this marvelous phone, but it lacking androids greatest feature to mod it the way you want to kinda sucks. kinda = a lot.
btw htc bloatware = crap all the way, and sense aint so pretty either

My Desire S arrived today. Been playing with it for a couple of hours now. Doesn't actually come with that much bloat. Plus with double the internal storage and extra RAM, even at stock it's much smoother and snappier than my old rooted and heavily optimised Desire. Very pleased with it. Wont be long until the unrEVOked team crack it, but I don't find myself missing root privileges too badly.
A bit scared by HTC Hub though. Was running the Desire S ported ROM on my Desire to see if I liked it. When I turned my new phone on today, it somehow knew my wireless router key and jumped straight on my network, then proceeded to download and install all the apps I had on the ported ROM!
Not sure I like the idea of HTC being able to get my wireless network key off my phone.
Edit: Need to change my sig!

it's google, not htc
disable the automatical backup in options -> privacy.. or however its called in english
there is a option to automatically backup & restore your apps, favorites, wlan passwords etc.
i got still a desire hd, getting a desire s soon but most of the ported desire s, incredible s and pyramid roms got auto backup enabled by default so i everytime get apps installed which is kinda annoying

It's not really bloated but i do want to remove things like Twitter, Peep, Plurk & even Facebook since i don't use it. I actually use the Friend Stream & other HTC widgets since i'm just an Android HTC virgin.
I have said YES to the poll but I don't believe that this will happen within weeks.
I believe that with forthcoming release of the HTC sensation (dual core) which I assume will be locked down in the same way, more developers will start working on cracking the problem and therefore an answer might be found.
But I don't believe that it will happen for a months yet (happy to be proved wrong)....which is why I'm finding a XTC clip to use.
Yeah probably right. Two of my friends are about to get the Desire S. When they have, I'll try seeing if they want to go £33 in each to buy an xtc clip.
Then I'll pimp it out at £10 per S-off until it's paid for itself.

Ok so I think this could actually be my first post(and hopefully a helpfull one!)
I was just about to give up with Gingerbreak and the hope of having Root access on my Desire S but the last time i ran it it froze on the "something appears to have gone wrong message"
so i left it a while realised that i had accidently left my tether over usb on and that my internet was still working allthou the phone was completly froze so after about 5 mins unpluged the usb waiting a minute or so and as i was just about to unplug the battery cover I heard the phone reset and I was amazed to find That I now have SuperUser listed in my programs!!
also dont know if it makes any differance but
fast boot off
debug usb mode on
Its a voda uk rom but and o2 sim
ps I dont want to reset my phone now incase i lose root after reboot lol
hope this is helpfull to someone every other attempt i made failed.
EDIT: ok so curiosity got the best of me restarted my phone and superuser and root access gone so only temp after all

the lock is stored in the radio.. something about nvram.. i donno
but i do know even if we had it, there is NO way yet to flash it on s-on devices...
Can the hboot from the unlocked htc sensation dev phone be used for our desire s?

I am not sure if anyone else is having this same problem with the new sense 3.0 on the virus kingdom rom out B.1.2, but every time i do something it doesn't matter what it is, it keeps trying to find the sense and tells me it's fc or if i want to send a report to HTC or if i want to wait. I tried all three, nothing seems to help. Even took the ROM off 7 times, and redid everything step by step as they had mentioned. It is getting so very frustrating.
I have an evo supersonic 4g. I've always favored the virus roms on my phone, never had any problems till now. Also, i keep trying to log into the sense hub, but it keeps telling me my email and password are invalid when I've been using the same one for a while, also when entering my phone number it tells me it can't find my phone. I tried calling HTC today but just gave me the run around and made me even more frustrated.
I also went into ROM manager, fixed all the permissions, which is suppose to more than likely fix all the Fc problems usually, and then went into the boot loader and fixed the uid apk problems. However, this only seems to work for a while, and is only a temporary fix for the time being, but then i am back to doing it all over again at least a few times a day. This is not suppose to happen!
Can someone out there help me please, this is driving me crazy, and already tried everything i could think of on my part, but if anyone is also have the same problems or has in the past and knows how to fix, i would really appreciate your generosity in sharing your secrets with me! I will be very thankful!
The reason that sense keeps fc'ing is because the board (meaning the electronics board) in the phone is not quite compatible/not new enough for what sense 3.0 needs. Virus has done a very commendable job in getting it as far as it is, but as he says, this rom will never be 100% stable. I have had the same repeating issue that you have and honestly it happens at the most random times with no explanation, but what has somewhat helped for me when this happens is to go into recovery and wipe the dalvik, then reboot and *WAIT* until the phone completely boots up and wait about 3 minutes more without even touching the screen, for the phone to be all settled. This helps the sense and lockscreen from not working in my case. I hope this helped!
But does this help permanently or just for the time being? Also what about why i can't log back into sense hub? it won't take my email and password I've been using. I noticed that when i went into their site for the actual help they were down for maintenance and have been for a couple of days now, i wonder if that has something to do with it?
Also one other question? I found another ROM it's got the same exact build, however the radio may be different, the biggest downfall though is, it's for a desire and the ROM is exactly the same but stable. It's ReMix3D Kingdom for desire but am afraid to use without someone knowing if it would be compatible or not. I found it by accident when i was looking for help on here and it looks really nice and everything works there are no problems as far as i know!
Thanks for all your help as well, I've been running wild trying to figure this out for over a week now, but when i went onto their actual virus ROM site and talked to Norwester, he told me there was nothing wrong with the ROM and was the most stable one yet and that it was my phone. However, I knew it wasn't due to the fact that i never had problems ever before, and i know what i am doing and know a lot about computers, it's all the same. He thought my phone wasn't compatible with it, but i got it on here under supersonic evo 4g and included, it specified it was built for supersonic evo, so i was very frustrated, thanks again.
Just let me know on that last question i had for you if you can about the ROM for desire, i really, really appreciate all your help!
HTC hub's login issues are related to the server maintenance going on right now.
You'll want to avoid flashing ROMs designrd for another phone, as they definately wont work correctly, and may end up bricking your phone.
3.0 will take a while to get mostly stable on the EVO. You might want to try SACs v4 of the kingdom port, which may be out tommorrow. Its supposed to be a bit more stable from what I've read.
Do you know about how long? What i don't understand Is.... The leak for gingerbread 2.3 coming to the Evo sometime in June Also leaked that sense 3.0 was Also getting added? So if this is the case they don't have much time. I wish they'd fix it, so we could see what's its all about as to whether we like it or not! That's really hard to do if we can't get it on long enough to get a glinch of it.
Lastly, sense 3.0 works if you log in through a regular computer. I set up an account that way for the most part, so far so good. My virus kingdom ROM is doing a hell of a lot better than it was a couple weeks ago.

So I received my Arrive in the mail today and played around for a little while and decided to take the plunge and load Mango.
Since this has been loaded I've run into nothing but problems. The Zune software won't properly recognize the phone so I can't sync music/apps to it, and whenever I plug in my phone to the computer it tells me I need to update the Zune software, but then goes on to say it's up to date. I can't actually interact with my Arrive through the Zune software.
I've tried downloading the Sprint RUU files and booting into recovery and running the RUU, but it never finds my phone. I've tried this on an XP machine and Win7 machine, getting the same results on both.
Are there any other ways to revert to NoDo? I'm running into nothing but dead ends here and I have no idea how to get back to factory. I realize that people need to buck up when they goof something up, I just thought I was very careful in making sure I was reading through the instructions at least twice and then taking the step.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I didn't just turn this new phone into an expensive paperweight.
Whilst I haven't tried Mango myself, I would imagine most people would suggest going back to a previous backup if one was made. Microsoft have instructions here:

I have no idea if this will work in your situation, frankly, but if you are desperate it might be worth a try at your own risk - perhaps someone can clarify if this is the right thing to do?

I ended up having some issues with my OS that was causing the problem. After a fresh reload this morning I was able to run the restore.bat and properly get my phone back to NoDo.
I'm thinking I might give this another try now that I know I can restore without any issues. I was beginning to think I'd really borked myself, though at 2am you start to think "end of the world" type thoughts with your device.
On a side note - I'm absolutely loving WP7 so far, though it's hard going from my EVO to this. The screen is SO much smaller and the device is noticeably fatter and colors of the LCD are a bit lacking in direct comparison. I think most of it's just going to be getting used to the phone and leaving my EVO at home when I'm running around.

u needed to update the Zune client to the latest beta as well after installing mango. that's why u weren't being detected. and the reason the colors look better on the evo than the arrive is because the evo is 32 bit color while the arrive is 16bit color in NoDo. mango fixes that and brings the colors to 32 bit

Interesting. I'll have to take a look at this a little later this evening when I get home from work. I wasn't aware of the color difference. I reloaded Mango after getting the beta Zune client and have my backup ready to go.
Feeling better about WP7 for sure now.
Basically my girlfriends evo shift has pretty much bitten the dust, the backlight on the screen only works sporadically and i really don't want to fuss with trying to replace the cable, I just want to return it to sprint and get a replacement handset for her ( I know it's EOL but we can't upgrade till next year hoping replacement wont cost too much). I've been cruising the forums as well as google, trying to find a way to get it back to stock from CM7, I have read all the forum threads about how to do it I'm just having a couple issues.
1. none of the links for the ruus or roms seem to work anymore, I'm not being able to reach multiupload, don't know if its the firewall here or if the site is just buggered, anyone have an alternative d/l site?
2. HTC sync can't find the phone, windows definitely finds it ok, but htc sync says no device is connected, any thoughts?
I'd appreciate any help/thoughts anyone might have, I have full protection on our handsets so if there might even be a way to just bypass this and get sprint to replace the handset, I'd be fine with that too, I've got her info backed up so I'm rearin to get this thing done.
* weird side note, we replaced her handset last year on the 11th of April going from palm pre to the shift because her pre's keyboard stopped working, she may be annually cursed..
