Well this is a very controversial matter. xD
Personally I approve this because I got into a small accident cuz of my phone. xD

I'm all for a Handset ban while behind the wheel but they should allow hands free.
Now hear me out first if your on the phone talking (hands free) it is no more distracting then having a friend next to you talking. With technology like Apples Siri and Google's Majel total hands free communication is becoming more and more possible.
As it is in the Province I live in Hand's free is legal while texting and using your hands is illegal

Using cell phones while driving has been banned for a while in some countries already. I approve of the ban. If you want to text or call, park your car. 2 hands on the wheel when driving

This is something I hoped would happen for such a long time. It will only help if the law is actually enforced, though. I don't know how many times I've been stuck behind someone driving 50% below the legal speed limit who was too busy chatting away on a cellphone to be bothered with paying proper attention to the road and obeying road rules and etiquette. It's actually worse than a woman fixing her face while driving to work.
My only hope is that the penalty for such a travesty as talking on a cellphone while driving will be severe.

This will stop texting accidents the same way this will stop drunk driving accidents, by that I mean not at all.
Stupid people are constantly looking for clever ways to hurt themselves and those around them

Maybe, but at least there will be penalties for them like there are for DWI offenders. It's worse to have DWC and no possibility of punishment. I would rather there be a punishment even if it didn't deter them. At least they would have to pay for their horrible and irresponsible behavior.

I try not to use my cell phone in the car, I know a couple people who've gotten into accidents because they were too busy texting.

Hands free is no issue & safer than many other things you do while driving.
arguing with passengers, interacting with stereo & GPS systems, CB radio systems, eating, drinking fluids, smoking are all distractions but legal.
Health & safety has gone mad in the western world & the result is a collapsing economy as legal costs & limitations ruin economy & business growth.
The phone is not to blame but the idiots who text & call without handsfree kits are in need of harsher punishment.
Common sense & less nannying is what is required.

That's not actually true. It is more distracting because the person you are talking with doesn't know what's going on around you and cannot help you react or pay attention. If you're talking to someone and they can see what you see, they'll slow down or stop talking at points where you need to concentrate, such as a busy intersection.
The human brain really isn't meant for multitasking like this so I would approve of such a ban.

Just for satisfaction I spent 5 straight hours arguing with them over our bootloader being locked. 5 emails and 2 chat sessions at the same time, multiple times.
It did no good. they assured me they would forward my input to somewhere that would read it.
one person connected me to level 2 support, then they yelled at me for wasting their time by not needing to be upgraded.
EDIT: I am doing it again now, because I am bored, so feel free to join me in being a pain in the ass.

That was my plan. I know it does no good, but it is amusing to watch them use the same generated message over and over again. I got one person who actually seemed to be a developer take my side and say he has tried to convince them from the inside. that did no good either. The funny thing was that he said we was helping us with checking cheesecake. LOL!!!

I have been keeping there network IT's busy myself by disabling the auto sighnup for blur account then making one to check for updates so far they have suspended all 73 of them each one of them has recived an email asking me to call them

I do this ALL the time with them... last time I was Elmer Fudd, and today I was Mr. sly... I never give them any real information and I am transferred to a ton of people and I get them all flustered, I even told a dev he was a stupid moron, since he did not understand why I needed to unlock my bootloader. He said and I quote "Custom ROMs are not good for the phone, and shorten its lifespan, and that they are so unstable that no should have to fight with them." "That is why we lock the bootloaders, it is for your safety."

I'm surprised you're even really wasting this much time with tech support personnel - often times those jobs are outsourced to a foreign country where the person won't have the slightest clue on up to date information.

Translation: "We're too lazy to actually listen to our customers, so just take our word for it."

I really can't believe that Moto would be so freakin' anal about something like this. I remember with the 1st Atrix I had, before trading it out for the A2, when I accidentally powered on while holding the volume up button, and getting some crazy A$$ed menu screen pop up that I had no idea what to do with. If they're so concerned with the "safety" of their devices in the consumers hands, they should never let them out of their own.
I always thought that Moto was a decently reputable company, one that wouldn't try to dictate through locked 'this or thats' what the end user can or cannot do with their device. It's really put me off with them, but hearing some of the rants with dealing with Moto service it's really no different than calling the service line of ANY major company -everything is outsourced and the person on the other end is dumber than a sack of smashed a$$holes.

Sounds a lot like an auto manufacturer installing a device that will steer your car for you and telling you it is for your protection. Out Freaking Standing!!! And they probably sit up at night wondering why HTC and Samsung are kicking their ass. We pay good money for these devices and many of us are loyal customers, if we want to wreck our devices they should let us. The publicity that unlocked devices receive in the community increases sales alone, but they will never understand that. Oh well, you can't expect stupid people to listen to logic

Considering the new Dark Knight movie came out, I thought about making a post to help any save a little money, by getting you out of the convenience fee that you always get charged with through fandango.

It is shocking when something like this happens. I live in Tucson, and was here when Jared Loughner shot all those people, including Gabby Giffords. It was shocking to have it happen in my town down the street from where I live. Sometimes when you see this stuff on the news it is removed form you, and doesn't affect you as much. I know it certainly felt different when it happened in my town. Also Loughner was a student at my school, and it made me think how he could have just as easily decided to shoot up the school. I want to know why this keeps on happening. This keeps happening all over the world, and just seems to be becoming more frequent. Dare I say the end times are near, or they should be +1 on the flood coming!

Hi Guys. I was wondering if there is any apps or method I could use to (block incoming) {know how to do this and out going calls and even mms if possible. I have this phone rooted and and running cm7. Its acctually a HTC inspire. However you guys in the HOX forum are my family
Reason behind this is my daughter is getting [email protected] grades. I think it is important in this day for a teenager to have comunications for emergency. I'd like to know how I can limit her from usage. ATT wants to charge me 5 bucks a month to do this.

Rational is for every action there is a reaction. Good grades are required to have a cell phone. Bad grades = no cell phone.
Or choice if you like? Choose to have bad grades = choose to not have a cell.
I've taken it away. But would like her to have the opportunity in emergency to contact essential persons.

I guess I don't view negative reinforcement as an effective solution. Granted, I'm not a parent but I was more recently a teenager with bad grades. Well... Not that recent but you get the idea. I certainly don't mean to tell you how to raise your children and think I might be overstepping my bounds.
Anyway... I you can still dial 911 if you take the SIM card out on a lot of phones. She won't be able to call you but could still use the phone for emergency use only. Dunno of an app to do what you're asking unfortunately.

I understand you position. I was there once also. Everyone needs structure. Like android you need a breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. We try and structure Our enforcement like the society that they will eventually have to live in. Choice is the problem, and choice is the solution. Try that in conjunction with some sort of call blocker.. allow only your number and wife's etc. Then password protect the app, password protect the uninstall apps and settings so she can't bypass anything

She is 15 you have to be 16 to drive in my state.
My wife and I let them pic the consequences for their actions.
She picked the cell cause she didn't want to be grounded.
I hope you guys don't think I'm some sort of Nazi parent.
Hell my older boy had illegal substance in his room and only got grounded for two weeks. Kept all his Xbox, phone. He has a 3.7 GPA and does is chores though.

I'm just speaking from my experience as a child... I'm 17 now... My parents don't believe in grounding or taking anything away on that note... I think that's the way to go I believe when parents take stuff away you want to do worse to piss them off... I've gotten caught stealing(I'm sorry) smoking weed.. all they give me is a slap on the wrist...I have a 4.3 GPA taking intense classes and having the freedom and that makes me hapyy and want to work harder ...just my two cents ..everyone has their own beliefs though

My kids have "my" retard gene.(hence my bad spelling that Bob pointed out) They have to work hard to get good grades. When I got custody of my older two from my ex. They were both in special education, 3 years behind. Its been a lot of hard work to get them caught up in school. I just want them to succeed. If any of you have better ideas for consequences? I'll run it by my daughter and see if she's OK with it. Like I said she picks the poison.

Letting your girl "pick her destiny" is good, at least I think so. I'm 20 year old now, and when I was getting in trouble in school and what not my parents would discipline as they saw fit. I was being extremely dumb and thought it was cool to do drugs(weed) but, because I was in soccer and working my way towards a soccer scholarship... My parent's didn't do a whole lot, I just got teh truck taken away from me for a few weeks, and I had to tell my coach if i ever wanted to get my keys back. He is like a second father to me, and he kept getting on me when I messed up at practice. I'll never forget certain moments at practice either... It was absolute hell but, I've never touched that stuff since. I've carried a 4.0 through my senior year, and currently have a 3.6 in my soph year of college. Scholarship is almost up, and now I'm looking to join the military. I can't thank my parents enough for the way they handled that. Most f the people that I have hung out with in high school are now dealers/arrested for possession with intent to distribute/pregnant... That list could go on forever.

My parent's didn't do a whole lot, I just got teh truck taken away from me for a few weeks, and I had to tell my coach if i ever wanted to get my keys back. He is like a second father to me, and he kept getting on me when I messed up at practice. I'll never forget certain moments at practice either... It was absolute hell but, I've never touched that stuff since. I've carried a 4.0 through my senior year, and currently have a 3.6 in my soph year of college. Scholarship is almost up, and now I'm looking to join the military. I can't thank my parents enough for the way they handled that. Most f the people that I have hung out with in high school are now dealers/arrested for possession with intent to distribute/pregnant... That list could go on forever.

I just have to disagree with one thing... I respect that you stopped...but im in the boat you were in high school I'm a junior I play very competitive soccer and taking a lot of.hard classes and weed is the thing that kinda puts everything away and let's me focus on what's important... I think without it id be lost in a world of stress... I do it like once a week just with some friends and I feel sometimes makes me smarter

To each his own. To me, what that stuff did to me, was bad. I say bad... Be cause it hurt me on the field. I am a gk, and it messed with my reactions and split second thinking/decision making. It effects people differently. One of my long time friends got arrested for possession with intent to distribute. It messed with my conditioning BAD. Before, I was able to run a mile in just over 7 minutes, for my body type that's pretty good. I am 5'10" 195#. My time slowly started to decrease... I look back and I will never be able to thank my parents and my coach enough.

I see where your coming from yeah Im center mid I played division 1 soccer which is the top around here... I say played because I had to get knee surgery from soccer over the summer and none months recovery so ill be back in June but I think im done with competitive play... My conditioning did get a bit worse which I can admit to while I was still playing.. as for the arrest I'm truly sorry ..nobody deserves tha for just this...here In california I think u have to 8 g on u to be held up for intent to sell... But I will stop when I have to settle down and be a consistent man in the real world.. I have no doubt you're happy you stopped ..sometimes I wish I didn't do it sometimes I just have that crave to chill out and sit back.. but like u said "to each his own"

Ya I tried it a couple times when I was younger. Just wasn't for me. I don't care if my kids experiment with it. They're gonna do that any way. Just don't want it to run or ruin their lives.

Experimentation is different than using, in my eyes. If I ever have kids, I say that because my little cousins are natural living birth control, I wouldn't scold them for being a teenager but like you said, I wouldn't let it run/ruin their lives.

As well as Chrome. It's a Google problem occurring again and again now and then after a PlayServices update. No need for such a thread in my opinion, as it is nothing HTC can do anything about, nor any other user.

Easy now guys, I've seen people like Op before. They're autistic and don't understand social norms. Are you aware that there are people in this world that have a severe medical condition which causes them to be that way? My mother for instance is one of those people. She is a truck driver that has bad knees and a bad back from driving the truck but you probably do not care about that case either. Oh well I am not one of those people I am 6'4" 245lbs and I exercise every day. I would love to see you say something like to my mother in front of me. Probably never happen though you are probably just an internet tough guy. I doubt very seriously you would say that to someones face. Just my thought.What do you think. Oh I am sorry you probably do not have a brain. I on the other hand will be happy to buy you a plane ticket to come here and see if you have the nerve to say that to someone I know.
Op, clearly your device is ridden with issues, why not use that magical thing called warranty and return the phone instead of making a thread every other day?
