Going to the Movies - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

Considering the new Dark Knight movie came out, I thought about making a post to help any save a little money, by getting you out of the convenience fee that you always get charged with through fandango.
I have an AMC stubs card that waives the fee. If anyone wants to use it, please PM me and I'll send you my number.
Stay safe out there. My condolences go out to the families involved in the shooting I hope no one here was affected in any way
Enjoy the movies guys

Yea this is pathetic. I'm going to have to bring my carry gun now when I goto the movies so I don't get murdered :/
God if you can hear me , I think we are about due for another flood or something.

This is =ucking stupid. **** like this makes me want to visit my family. How can people be so stupid. Oi! I hope all those hurt are ok, and those who didn't make it are legit. YoY

Yes but even in events like this, I think it's all the more reason to continue on as normal as possible. What happened here is nothing anyone could've predicted or stopped anyway. It shouldn't scare people into not going to the movies anymore. I know I'm still going to see the movie

It is shocking when something like this happens. I live in Tucson, and was here when Jared Loughner shot all those people, including Gabby Giffords. It was shocking to have it happen in my town down the street from where I live. Sometimes when you see this stuff on the news it is removed form you, and doesn't affect you as much. I know it certainly felt different when it happened in my town. Also Loughner was a student at my school, and it made me think how he could have just as easily decided to shoot up the school. I want to know why this keeps on happening. This keeps happening all over the world, and just seems to be becoming more frequent. Dare I say the end times are near, or they should be +1 on the flood coming!

I couldnt go out the night after that cause of that stupid act of so called villianous. wtf was he thinking anyway? oh yea btw i live in columbus thats a very long way from colorado

Extreme antipiracy measures....

I have no idea where this topic should go so im putting it here.
Ill start off by saying this: I'm a fifteen year old kid with no money, and sometimes I pirate apps. This isn't about piracy like where should i go for it etc. Because i know that is against the rules. I don't have any way to buy apps or i would, im poor and i don't have a credit or debit card to use. So devs aren't losing money by me pirating. And i know its wrong and i shouldn't do it. Its just the only way to get things sometimes.
If you're still reading and haven't already reported me, here is my story.
Last night i was just messing with my phone, playing games and talking to friends. My phone randomly rebooted and started going into a bootloop of sorts; it would start up and i could get to the homescreen but it was almost unresponsive and i was getting a lot of force closes. I couldn't figure out the issue so i did a backup and a data wipe, planning to restore from TitaniumBackup.
That's when i figured out the problem. My sD card had been completely wiped, all 14 gigs of music, videos, important documents, pictures, apps, everything. It was all gone and replaced with 1037 pictures of a penis with a smiley face drawn on it, captioned "**** you mobilism stop stealing from droidfanz" which i have no idea who mobilism is or what droidfanz is.
I ran recuva on the card hoping to find my files somehow but it only found 3000 more of the pictures along with lots of random pictures of porn and concerts and people jumping off of houses onto mattresses.
I guess im mostly making this thread as 1. A shoutout to mobilism, droidfanz, whoever else caused this to say, you're an ass. Piracy is wrong but there are lots of things you could do that aren't going to destroy my life by deleting all of my personal documents. If i had the ability to buy your apps then i would.
2. A notice to other people... Don't pirate. At least be careful because some developers would rather destroy you than just make it so you can't use their app or something.
That's it. Ban me if you want, i figured i should at least get this out there to warn people. Im going to be trying to restore my life for the next few days anyways.

Good you deserved this. You stole apps from devs which is like taking there life. It only seems fitting that a dev returns the favor. Hope you learned. Also invest in a pre load debt card so you can legitimately purchase apps. Being broke is not an excuse for piracy and sure as hell wouldn't stand in court. Look at it this way .99 cents for an app or thousands in fees cause you got caught pirating.

Wow, that's crazy.
Mobilism and Droidfanz are, to the best of my knowledge, warez sites.
Sounds like maybe Droidfaz people are loading files that look like applications, but really are malicious files over to Mobilism in some sort of a war.
Those malicious files could have been further distributed to wherever you go the file from.
I dont agree with you ironlood.
Firstly, fighting fire with fire is not a solution. If someone is doing something wrong, it does not mean that you should do something worse. Revenge is only allowed if it is equal, not worse than the original offence.
Secondly, the OP does not even know if this happened due to a rogue application by a Dev or some hacker at Droidfanz try to get back at mobilism. Its interesting looks like two underground piracy outfits clashing. (I dont know what these sites are, but thats what it sounds like).
I'm not saying piracy is allowed, but lets just not be too anal not to allow extenuating circumstances (although I am not saying this particular case is).
OP, next time stick to free apps only. There is nothing you cant live without.
Wow. I certainly don't pirate apps because I'm a faithful Android fan and truly appreciate the work of the developers. We give them hardly anything for their work so the spare change you pay now and again is well worth it. Sometimes I donate even more after I buy their apps.
That being said, I don't want any chance of this happening to my phone because I downloaded a rogue app that made it to the market or was shared in the community. If someone does that to me, I'll sue them only because I can't physically beat the f*** out of them.
You shouldn't pirate though, bro. Pirate from big corporations like Microsoft as they inflate their prices and can afford it. Don't pirate from the college student who's starving and worse off than you!

This is true. You obviously could afford to buy apps if you wanted to, you just don't want to because you can get them for free.
Just for the sake of conversation.
Why is it ok to violate your TOS as well as abuse your carrier by getting around their bandwidth usage requirements and tethering options but piracy off applications is wrong?
Who decides what is right and wrong in this situation? The danger to android isn't merely fragmentation, it is the wild west nature of open source and whether developers will continue to contribute at such a rate knowing that there is no law or protection in place to keep their work as financially viable.
These are topics that android will have to deal with and sort whether it is by google or by the community coming to some sort of developer support agreement.
Really is neat watching an industry find its way. I just hope it doesn't get lost in the process.
thanks for sharing about your misfortunes and hopefully you learned from it! Best of luck!

That isn't ridiculous. More like my parents saved up to my me a phone as a birthday present, it was free with the special Christmas deal from US Cellular and it came with the card. Both the phone and card were actually free for my parents to buy and were a birthday present for me, we're just paying for the plan and I still have no money to buy apps.

Get a job. You had this coming, as far as I'm concerned.
The whole penis thing might be a little extreme but i guess you deserved it.
What comes around goes around, you steal apps and now you lost everything. Being broke is not an excuse for being a douch-bag and stealing apps. I don't think telling a judge I was broke so I stole it would be a good defense. Not to mention you "stole" an item that is not something you need to live like stealing food not that that is ok either. I hope this was a lesson learned.
sageDIEU, fair play to you for openly telling your story.. you've probably learnt your lesson anyway now, although your reasons are more than dubious (still doesn't make it right in my opinion, just because I've not got the money now or ever to buy a ferrari, doesn't mean I can just go and pinch one)
The only issue I have, is that some developers expect you to pay for a product that has no decent demo. There's plenty of people producing crap apps for android and other OS's and expecting money for it. I've already paid for quite a few apps that have turned out to be a complete waste of money. I'd rather try an app (by whatever means) and then I'll gladly pay the developer for his work if it's a good product, if it's not, it doesn't stay on my phone and the developer won't get my dough.
Just about everyone uses a hacked app for whatever reason in their life. I don't judge anyone for doing so, but you should never ever keep important files on just 1 storage location. You can always lose/break it.
Learn from this!
Try searching for undelete/unformat software. Maybe you will be able to recover some of it. Good luck..

Corporations rob consumers, they're the only ones I would not feel bad about when it comes to pirating. I don't need commercial apps from huge corps most of the time though, outside of an OS. There are usually freeware versions which are better and have direct support from the developer. I'd rather have a free app with customizations and bug fixes from direct developer correspondence than a commercial app from a huge corp in most cases. Wouldn't you?
And **** off with the saint comment. I'm not elitist. I just think if a hard working Joe does a good job, I'd rather commend him instead of some money grubbing corporation. This is a tight community. And would you rather give a friend money or a stranger money? I'd rather give a friend money, any day of the week. Especially if they've developed an app that I use EVERY SINGLE DAY and only paid a dollar or two for!!!!
You guys are so ****ing cheap. End of story. I hope your phones get hacked. There's absolutely no reason to ***** about a dollar or two here and there for an app that you'll use day in, day out.
All of you people giving analogies of 'pirating' with 'stealing' do not know what an IP is. That analogy is WRONG.
Also, you really think rooting your phone and installing custom roms is not a violation?

Agreed, and I doubt you were punished by the developper you stole apps from.
You should really be carefull on what you install, especially on those uncontrolled warez sites.

Yea, and everyone around here on XDA were total D-bags and flammed the poor guy.
He's a marketing rep for Samsung, and I think was honestly trying to find a way to reach out to the XDA community. And in return, everyone ripped his thread to pieces.
I guess the old, "you catch more flies with honey than vinegar" doesn't work so well around here. Pitty too. Cause unless all the idiots around here plan on rushing the Samsung corporate headquarters and holding the CEO ransom, burning the one bridge set forth isn't going to get anyone anywhere.

With all due respect. Samsung has brought the hatred and anger on themselves. They choose to enter into agreements where they cant comment on the updates they provide. They choose to enter into agreements where they cant update their own hardware without the carriers blessing. They choose to allow their PR reps make comments about updates that never come dangling a carrot in front of those hopeful for the advanced features others on identical hardware in other countries enjoy.
Sorry they burned their bridges, they doused their customers with gasoline, you cant blame us for wanting to embrace them with our last fiery breaths.
Ok guys if this turns into a flame fest or name calling i will close this one as well. I am not sure what will happen if anything other then empty promises as like stated above "they already have our money." To be honest This will be my last Samsung device I ever own. No matter What Samsung has to say, I will never again promote a Samsung device, as I had big hopes for the Captivate. I should have known better after all the work I have had to do on their other smartphones, that this one would be just as much a POS as all the others, BJ, BJ II, Epic, Jack.

why would you... i don't even know why people need extra battery. like for reals I am a teen meaning i text browse the web listen to music like crazy and i get through the day at night with about 28% battery (last night).
and now that i got my iPod back battery should last even longer.
i really do not understand why people obsess over battery a lot. like don't you all go home and charge your phone??
i would understand if you phone isn't keeping charge then obsess over the battery but other than that it just pointless to me...

HAHA. This wins the award for best post ever.
1) "like for reals I'm a teen..." ... that statement alone identifies this kid as the guy we all made fun of cause he was annoying and always corrected the teached.
2) like for reals dude, maybe you should spend more time in school because you'll quickly learn that no matter how many times a day you tweet that you just ate pizza for lunch, it doesn't compare to the data usage a corporate user that has multiple exchange accounts syncing constantly changing calendar, contacts, docs, and OCS chatter.
3) Sorry if it's not a big deal if your battery runs low and you're unable to jerk off to Justin Bieber's new video in the bathroom stall between getting beat up on the bus and getting beat up in first period... but to some people there's a bit more at stake when their phone stops functioning.

I think we can all agree its good idea "IF" you need it to carry around a small portable external charger. That way no one looses the thinness or the light wighteness of the phone.
I might not need an "Executive" account to know that battery life on smart phones usually suck, but I am a teen and the "Constant " twitter posts I put out there leave me with battery to spare at the end of the day.

HELP! Lost my Infuse!

Ok, so this is my problem. Today when I came back from school (High School) I found out my infuse wasn't in the backpack slot it should be. I remember seeing it in my backpack at school in my locker, but then on the bus, I couldn't seem to find it.
I'm pretty sure rather one of the students busted into my locker using a key (teachers have keys that can open any locker) which they used to open my locker, or that the person with the locker next to me has found out me combination and has told it to a lot of students.
I am very concerned that they will screw with my phone, but I have an android pattern security on, so I doubt that.
What should I do? Should I call the school and tell them that I think someone stole my phone and give them a list of people who I think stole it? Or try to interogate them myself?
Please help! I love my infuse.
P.S. I've checked AT&T's website and I couldn't find the Infuse. So I'm thinking of ending my contract or terminating it so they can't text any of my contacts.
First tell your parents...and you can have ATT suspend your line...and they can kill that sim card...unless you have insurance...your at a loss....idk
But you can bring it to the school attention...
If you don't see your phone on you're acct when you log in...they prob took your Sim out...
I've already called the school but they didn't answer. I'm going to tell the dean of the school when I get to school tomorrow. I've already told my mom and she said to tell the school. I'm just trying to consider my options. If I can't find it or my friend has it and has reset everything, then I think my mom will be nice enough to get me a new phone.
Yeah...I wouldn't interrogate the people them selfs...if you don't know who did it for sure you could be questioning the wrong person...and if you do that then they probably won't like you...
Plus people may think you don't trust anyone...and if you do question the right person...what's gonna get him/her to admit it?
How ever I would defently inform the school...and give then a list of people you suspect...you should always let the authorities know (in this case the school) ...there are some crazy people out there...

You could borrow someone else's phone and try dialing your number while you're in a group of fellow students. If you hear your ringtone, you know who has it.

This will work as long as they haven't switched the sim card or turned it off which I'm sure they've done by now...

Thank you all! I've found the culprit (Long story prank) so the person who stole my phone's best friend spilled the beans. I have the text on my mom's go-phone (Very small and simple) and I will hopefully be getting the [email protected] suspended until school ends or at least get him grounded. Thank you for the options and I have suspended my AT&T account until further notice. I don't think that they can access my phone considering I have a pattern lock on it. Thank you for the support!
Your right, the 11th graders in my school aren't the smartest. But I'm Asian (Not to be stereotype or racist) and so are most of my friends and we know how to unlock phones without software (Hardware), pick- locks, and even create our own roms (I don't know how, but my friend ***** has created an HTC Vivid rom). I know they can't access anything for sure, considering I have the pattern lock (Like I've mentioned before). I hope it's still in 1 piece and still has that big ass crack right through the middle :/

Idk what highschoolers you grew up with...but im a highschooler growing up in the golden age of technology...most highschool kids know the basics about phones...power off=stealth, no sim=no longer connected to original account/service provider...doesn't take much thinking to figure that out...and highschool is full of thieves...what have they got to lose? There under age so they suffer no legal consequences...only school consequences...sure highschooler do a lot of dumb things...but they are no stranger when it comes to basic tech skills...
Sooooo...that's why I never leave my phone in my back pack...its always in my pocket or in my hand....

I live about 5 miles north of a Juvy Detention Center. Looks like a prison to me. Double fenced with razor wire. Filled with the "under aged".

Lol...this will be my last reply on this subject as I don't wanna argue...but you won't end up in juvy for stealing a phone at school...unless you commit a serious crime like assault with a weapon or something along those lines, no matter what you do at school you will not end up in juvy...school takes responsibilities and deals with consequences...trust me I've seen tons of kids steal stuff and get caught...do they go to juvy no-if its a first time the just get suspended for a few days...second time expelled...authorities are never involved so they never go to juvy...
Now if they were to steal from somewhere that wasn't a school like a store or a random guy on the street then sure they have the chance of going to juvy...but if its done in school there's pretty much nothing to worry about as long as your not afraid of suspension...trust me on this...although I never did any of this I did used to hang around the wrong people who constantly stole stuff...so I've seen first hand what happens...and even when they steal from a store...they typically contact the school not the authorities...I actually know someone who stole an iPad right from the apple store...caught him on survelance and they just contacted the school not the authorities...so he got suspended for stealing a $600 product...
And then they go to court before getting sent to juvy...and most times they just get a big fine instead of going to juvy...
Even if they do go to juvy...they don't care as it doesn't stay on your record like jail does...once your a certain age (can't remember it...but I think it may be 20) all juvy records of you are no longer kept...
Most of the kids who steal actually kinda wanna get in trouble...they use it as rep, like they don't want to get caught but if they do then its just rep for them and their proud of it...
Anyways...like I said that would be my last reply...I don't wanna argue, and both our reply are not contributing to the ops problem that sounds like he has solved as he knows who has his phone...
Sooo...I hope everyone has a nice day

Lol it sure did get off topic in here.
Every school is different. I went to a bad school at the time. Authorities were always involved. A serious example, my friend stole the substitute teacher's laptop. He got suspended. Brought to the station for some reason. Fined. And had a court date. Taught him a lesson.

Verizon Wireless draws fire for monitoring customers' app usage, Web browsing..

I saw this this morning on Flipboard, any thoughts? I would guess even custom ROMS do no good when it comes to Verizon collecting our browsing/internet habits?

I didn't read the full thing but google has been doing this forever and then some. they even increased how detailed/how much data they collect with the new TOS they put out recently. I'm betting the only reason Verizon is drawing more fire is because of the phone aspect of it.
Also, big brother can and does whatever they want. The government monitors all sorts of stuff that you would think would be illegal to do. Welcome to the new socialist regime under Obama..
I don't see an opt out, unless its not out yet.

I clicked it and it kept logging me out of my Verizon account and just showing the main splash page.

Just log in to myverizon and go to privacy settings. Should bring up a page with all your lines under each section and you can select the bubble to opt out.
Custom ROM tracking?
Does this still apply to users with a custom ROM?

Yeah, if you don't think that Bush handed him the keys right before firmly pointing the economy at the iceberg and tying steering wheel in place before doing so, than your mistaken.. And being prior military and working in intelligence, I can tell you that every electronic ANYTHING is being archived and saved and scanned for keywords since way before Obama. Eery single one of your emails and voice conversations and IM's and posts. Hmm and who put the Patriot Act in place.. hmm.. Have a Lovely day talking to big brother.. Oh by the way.. They prefer sexting.

Not that I want to get into a political conversation here, but I will, who made it a felony to protest, even peacefully, in front of the Secret Service? Who's had 4 years to fix said economy but has only steered it deeper into the hole. Obama has increased the national debt more in 4 years than Bush did in 8.
Now I'm not a Bush fan, I'm just saying Obama is bad news. Oh, as far as the Patriot Act, who renewed it once the majority of the terrorist alarm settled down years after 9/11??
I do agree the monitoring has been going on for a long time, but it has either taken steps that no one would before or at least taken steps publicly that every other regime did in secret. If it is just the same sh*t diff pile then doing it publicly is just a slap in the face to everyone. I'd rather they try to hide it then do it and blatantly step on our rights.
Oh, one more thing, who's given illegal immigrants more rights/help than the average American who is in need of help too?
I'm pretty sure most companies track your online habbits. They claim the use it for "market research". On my phone I'm not really that bothered by it, I don't do anything on it that I want to keep private, because I don't trust how private they are.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless you are embarassed you look at porn on your phone. Just keep things you would like to be personal and not tracked heavily on a properly secured connection at home, and possibly use TOR if you are that paranoid and want a little extra security.
Actually, I believe there is Tor available for android. It may help cut down on what they know your doing.
yawn, who cares???

Wasting your time. If someone says socialist regime and Obama together.. Let it go. And consider that statement with future debates with them.

Democrat or Republican the only thing you can be sure of is they do NOT have your best interest in mind. They love that they factioned the people, makes it easier for them when we're fighting about who's the worst.

I don't mind some monitoring but when they collect everything!? That's a little overboard IMO. I want an option to op out. I don't care about their strategic advertisements for my use. I guess there's no way stop them until theyre a law suit against them.
