Settle once and for All

I would like to talk sit down and talk via gtalk or something to a board of mods to handle this once and for all
This whole thing is ridiculous as I said I was updating the OP and changelog later that night and NEVER claimed it was ALL 100% mine.
I Pmed a couple mods but have gotten no response. I am sure they are busy I just want to get this rollin.

Layoff, respect yo fellow members. I'm sure what he has to say will be quite interesting. Sure people may hate him still but he'll still also have those "fans".
I am neutral about this whole dispute now, sure he did something wrong but it's common for humans to make mistakes. What he did was wrong, and I think he understand this. Even if he did take money from others to get new phones and beers.
If you don't have anything nice to say, don't.

I think you'll find I stole nothing, nor money........ I was donted far less then a nexus is worth and I did what I said I'd do - buy a nexus for development
The one dispute that I understand is this latest one with my froyo - that I totally understand the confusion.
the main thing is I said I needed to update my op and i was running out for the night..
I never claimed that to be 100% me......... EVER
I dont do this for the money....................Its no where near worth the 20 bucks a month

I am not a fan boy for either side as well, just do not have respect for his side of the issue he was laughing about it on twitter, i hardly think he has any care of what he did.

In my Oppinion that´s the Fact. We are an OPENSOURCE-Community, which should get the best out of our Devices, regardless if you cook up a ROM using this and that...

Ugh. Really? Why is there drama in the development thread. We are all so irritated by the newbies that create new threads in this subforum just to ask a question, but I think it's worse to do that, when you have been here long enough to know better, just to argue about pointless drama. Maybe King copied and pasted an entire ROM, maybe not. Whatever. We should fight about it amongst ourselves... not all over a section designated for getting work done.

This whole argument about him taking money is ridiculous.

See here is where my problem with the issue I am being accused for
* it is being made seem like I just renamed someones rom and released it...
I released a froyo ROM that did have alot of someones work yes, but its not like I claimed it as mine...EVER
thats the issue.
I made a handful of IMPORTANT changes and also said I was implementing all my usual changes the NEXT day....
If you look at my post it doesnt even look like any of my other ROMs....I WAS OBVIOUSLY GOING TO UPDATE THE VERBAGE LATER THAT NIGHT.
i just want this to be over with already, its 95% a misunderstanding

Really he is apologizing and trying to fix the situation and you guys want to chew him up and spit him out. Wow!!! King has done a lot for the Android Community. And I will be willing to sit down in a Gtalk or whatever to get down to the bottom of this so this community can get back to the way it was. I have been around a while and have seen what this community can do, just like anything there are good times and there are bad times. You get over the bad times so you can start having good times again.

So was samsungjohns big announcement not the support/questions thread. Just a question no flame intended. I think the vast majority of us that were all over that thread figured that support thread was the big news. So please inform us if it was not the news

No the thread was not the big news. To be honest I dont really have much info yet about this. To be honest I dont trust it to prove to be anything at all really. I will give more info as I get it.
As for Them starting a Support thread here....I dought it....Think about what we do here, and come to your own thoughts

He's a marketing rep for Samsung, and I think was honestly trying to find a way to reach out to the XDA community. And in return, everyone ripped his thread to pieces.
I guess the old, "you catch more flies with honey than vinegar" doesn't work so well around here. Pitty too. Cause unless all the idiots around here plan on rushing the Samsung corporate headquarters and holding the CEO ransom, burning the one bridge set forth isn't going to get anyone anywhere.

I did finally find the thread, catching up now. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a trade in offer of some kind involved. Just speculation on my part tho. of course, after the reception he received here we probably won't hear anything now..

I agree. The way I see it, we have nothing to lose. They already have our money. Why not let the guy say his piece? Is there anything he can possibly say that will sway our opinion without doing something about the problems? Is he going to hypnotize us into buying more Samsung products?

With all due respect. Samsung has brought the hatred and anger on themselves. They choose to enter into agreements where they cant comment on the updates they provide. They choose to enter into agreements where they cant update their own hardware without the carriers blessing. They choose to allow their PR reps make comments about updates that never come dangling a carrot in front of those hopeful for the advanced features others on identical hardware in other countries enjoy.
Sorry they burned their bridges, they doused their customers with gasoline, you cant blame us for wanting to embrace them with our last fiery breaths.

Ok guys if this turns into a flame fest or name calling i will close this one as well. I am not sure what will happen if anything other then empty promises as like stated above "they already have our money." To be honest This will be my last Samsung device I ever own. No matter What Samsung has to say, I will never again promote a Samsung device, as I had big hopes for the Captivate. I should have known better after all the work I have had to do on their other smartphones, that this one would be just as much a POS as all the others, BJ, BJ II, Epic, Jack.

More then 2 replacements of the same device is unacceptable, but if you allow them to do nothing, NOTHING will be done! Keep in mind that they will not simply give you what you want, you will have to do some verbal gymnastics. They will tell you ANY and EVERYTHING to get you off the phone: We'll have someone give you a call back, my supervisor is not available, etc. DO NOT accept another G2x and DO NOT accept a downgrade (G2, Mytouch 4g etc). If he or she says there is nothing that can be done, ask to speak to his/her superior. I believe lawsuits are a waste of time if at the end of the day, you still have the same problems as before. Remember, you get what you pay for, so if you didn't pay for a malfunctioning device, why would you accept anything less? I'm sure most of you extended your contract 2 more years, so stop replacing your device for another device you know may be even worse. Me??? Well, I'm a satisfied customer now!

You forgot 1 thing.....keep control of your temper. It's ok to sound upset, but never ok to yell, scream, act irrational or threaten. Do not use the terms sue, lawsuit or anything like that. Most call centers will shut down on those terms. My lawyer will speak to your lawyer means nothing to someone in Mumbai or even Ponca City OKlahoma. They are contractors, working for less that minimum wage, with a bonus for the number of phone calls they take. So taking your frustration out on them, will only get you a story to post here on XDA. Most commonly you will not get resolution. Many of their calls are recorded. If they help you, say thank you.

The reason why nothing is being done cause not all the g2xs are ****ED^ like the one I'm using doesn't have one problem it blows every phone away. So everyone is complaining about a certain problem and they are trying to fix a problem that they can't find u know. So they pretty much have to swap the hardware on everyphone than start giving replacements to the people that need em.

I saw this this morning on Flipboard, any thoughts? I would guess even custom ROMS do no good when it comes to Verizon collecting our browsing/internet habits?

I didn't read the full thing but google has been doing this forever and then some. they even increased how detailed/how much data they collect with the new TOS they put out recently. I'm betting the only reason Verizon is drawing more fire is because of the phone aspect of it.
Also, big brother can and does whatever they want. The government monitors all sorts of stuff that you would think would be illegal to do. Welcome to the new socialist regime under Obama..

Just log in to myverizon and go to privacy settings. Should bring up a page with all your lines under each section and you can select the bubble to opt out.

Custom ROM tracking?

And being prior military and working in intelligence, I can tell you that every electronic ANYTHING is being archived and saved and scanned for keywords since way before Obama. Not that I want to get into a political conversation here, but I will, who made it a felony to protest, even peacefully, in front of the Secret Service? Who's had 4 years to fix said economy but has only steered it deeper into the hole. Obama has increased the national debt more in 4 years than Bush did in 8.

I do agree the monitoring has been going on for a long time, but it has either taken steps that no one would before or at least taken steps publicly that every other regime did in secret. If it is just the same sh*t diff pile then doing it publicly is just a slap in the face to everyone. I'd rather they try to hide it then do it and blatantly step on our rights.

I'm pretty sure most companies track your online habbits. They claim the use it for "market research". On my phone I'm not really that bothered by it, I don't do anything on it that I want to keep private, because I don't trust how private they are.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless you are embarassed you look at porn on your phone. Just keep things you would like to be personal and not tracked heavily on a properly secured connection at home, and possibly use TOR if you are that paranoid and want a little extra security.
Actually, I believe there is Tor available for android. It may help cut down on what they know your doing.

I do agree the monitoring has been going on for a long time, but it has either taken steps that no one would before or at least taken steps publicly that every other regime did in secret. If it is just the same sh*t diff pile then doing it publicly is just a slap in the face to everyone. I'd rather they try to hide it then do it and blatantly step on our rights.

I don't mind some monitoring but when they collect everything!? That's a little overboard IMO. I want an option to op out. I don't care about their strategic advertisements for my use. I guess there's no way stop them until theyre a law suit against them.

bootloader will never be unlocked via dan, here is why

The problem everyone is failing to understand is dan just won the lottery. forget these silly petty bounties. think how deep Verizon or Att and etc. pockets are. a busted bootloader is a big deal to these companies, so handing dan say ... 100 mil in shut up money is petty cash to them, let alone patching against the future is waaay worth it to them. they may even think they scammed dan. so as aerosmith would but it... dream on; im not sure when we will see another all american legit bootloader hack.

I think it is more a moral thing. I know of so many that have come and gone that ARE great devs and helped us all out from either a simple theme to an unlock tool that have $h!t on from so many that believe they are entitled to it. No "thanks", " I understand ", " my mistake ", " I should have read more ", no nothing but complaints about this out that. Some of them are parents. Do they treat their kids this way? No wonder why there is so much hate in the world, greed and it isn't fair attitude.
One day if it's not already happened these guys are gonna disappear off all the public forums and goto private forums they are invite only members if they are not already there.
Then what blame the guy who just switched from the iPhone to Android for not having all the answers? Sure he will trade it in for the new iPhone before his 14 days are up

Im sorry, I didnt mean to make this sound like a joke topic or even ill hearted against dan, I was simply stating the facts from my sources. I can confirm though that my team and I are working on a bootloader unlock tool that will actually get released to the public sooner rather then later, we are also looking into bl's including but not limited to samsung s5, is all I can say about that for now.

since when is stating facts and explaining what our team is doing underside bridge work? we all saw what happened and we are all working on exploits, and I hope I encourage many others to do the same as your shouldnt hold ur breath for dan to release it. I hope we are first to produce a public tool. I've just joined this forum to expand our teams horizons.
