So I currently have a T-Mobile MyTouch 4G that I really like, I have Cyanogen Mod 7.0.3 running on it, and I get great battery life. I have some dust under the glass, so I called T-Mobile and they said that they would happily exchange it, but that they don't have the MyTouch 4G and that they will "upgrade" me to the Samsung Galaxy S. Looking at the forums it doesn't seem like there is much development for these phones. Should I tell T-Mobile that I want a different phone? or are there custom ROMS that I can run on the Galaxy S? I really like the 16 or so hours of battery life I currently get, plus how fast the phone is. Thanks.
Sgs4g is about the same speed.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
The phones are about the same speed but the mytouch4g has 768 mb of ram and the sgs4g onlu has 514... The mytouch 4g also is rated higher on quadrant. But imo the sgs4g is gear more for adults. They are still developing roms. The only one I know of that is actually stable is the deodexed stock kd1 by whitehawxx. There will be alot more soon especially now that drhonk has gotten the test sgs4g.
Sent from my legit SGS4G.
Rom: whitehawxx's deodexed KD1
Kernel: drhonk's bali v1.4uv
Tweaks: fugu tweak, darkyy's ram booster
Theme: aerodkng's gbtheme v7.2
OC: 1.2Ghz (stable)

U dont have to lie the sgs4g gets MUCH better framerates if thats what you were asking...for some reason the quadrant scores arent as high but I can assure you that the hummingbird has a much better graphics card than the snapdragon plus it has a little bit bigger screen so I think that it is a bit of an upgrade and when it does start getting more custom roms it will just be the super phone that it should be

once the sgs4g gets a little more hacks that will be a very different story, plus us sgs4g users are getting better battery life then you are and we are OC'ing plus MUCH better graphics

no prob seriously love the graphics on the phone they are what you would call STUNNING!
Lol I just got tired of explaining the RFS and why it gets slower scores in quadrant but the graphics are 2x as smooth.

antutu is a benchmark lol the sgs4g scores pretty high in it because it weighs the points out a lot on the graphics
Is my phones gpu really still faster than an adreno 205? I thought that was suppose to be HTCs galaxy slayer.
I am also one of the Mytouch 4G too Galaxy S 4g "upgrade" cause when my MyTouch 4g Dies overnight while sitting on my Desk charging...
So far I like the phone, but it does miss a few things the mytouch 4g had. Overall Good phone so far and MUCH easier to root than the MyTouch 4g.
Cool thanks for all the feedback.
My phone should be here by the 15th or so....

Yeah I gotta admit. As much as I hated this phone at first, I love it now that I have Bali and fugu. Now if only games like backbreaker, plants vs zombies and pool break pro would stop FCing everything I try to play them.....I honestly don't understand why they FC. I've odined this phone back to stock completely and yet they don't play.....

That's not even close to being right. I'm not overclocked and can't get over 775 and there is no way possible a OC to 1.5ghz can more than double that.

844 running CM latest nightly no OC. Stock CM kernel.
832 running stock CM7 @ 190 density. No custom kernels.
My score was on par with what it said Sensations were. I've heard CM7 benchmarks are usually lower compared to straight stock roms.
This also seems to heavily rely on browser technology. I wonder if the SGS2 marks higher with its acceleration?

Yea, the hardware accelerated browser definitely helps. Whether anyone likes Samsung or not, they are proving to be the biggest innovator in Android today. Not to mention, since the Hummingbird was introduced, they have always had some of the best processors.
By the way, as I said in my previous post on here, the best I got on the stock Rom was 775.

Hmm. I think this benchmark has major issues. Under system info it claims the second cpu has zero as its speed but reads the first one correctly. I will try it out again after they fix dual core support.
Edit... looking a little closer explains the scores. It is a biased hack test produced by a rival chip maker.

Calm down everyone. It would not be the first time there was a bias in a benchmark. I played with it for three seconds, noticed it does not even recognize the second nvidia chip properly and said something about it. Now did Qualcomm just make a crappy benchmark or did they do it on purpose?
Why does it show zero for the speed of the second chip? That's all I wanted to know. Apparently you do not have the answer.
Rooted stock rom on my first run.
is it flawed? or i just have a magic tegra2
cm7 74 faux oc/uv kernal

Of course it's a flawed test. Scores are all over the place. By the way...Don't act like this is the only flawed test out there. There pretty much all flawed right now since most of them don't know how to use the Sensations processor correctly. It's the only CPU that throttles down to a single core and most of the benchmarks are only using one of it's cores.
I just sold my MyTouch 4G and upgraded to the G2x!
Very nice phone!!
Since I'm new over here I just have to ask I searched through the ROMs and I haven't seen any that uses Sense. Am I wrong I was using Sense 3.0 and I love all of the cool things it had.
Can anyone lead me to the top Rom?
Thanks for your help in advance.
One of the reasons people picked up a g2x when it first came out was the fact that it ran vanilla android .
Eagleblood roms and weapon g2x is on the top of my list currently rumning weapon g2x with faux oc/uv kernel.

If you've never tried MIUI I would highly suggest flashing Jface's ROM and Faux's kernel...

Anything with Faux's kernel is awesome.
I would flash this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068367, then flash Faux's CM7 kernel or the Agent Orange Kernel (I am running this OC to 1.5 Ghz and it flies) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14443259&postcount=615. I am getting quadrant scores above 5000 and smartbench 2011 scores over 4300.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1220393Yennob Base 1, tiny undervolt.
Stock with a slight overclock to 1.2ghz plus a tiny undervolt. I use 'base 1, tiny undervolt'. There are options for user volts also. Perfect for stock, ones that don't need all the extra jazz.

Thanks, but this I know. I want to know if there are any around without having to use third party apps to clock it. You guys mean to tell me there is no T-Mobile dev kernels that's clocked to 1200 MHz???
Sent from my Sensation 4G using xda premium
FWIW the manufacturer actually rates the Qualcomm 8260 as a 1.5 GHz processor..so technically HTC just underclocks it. 1.5 is perfectly normal, although I am a little concerned as well because I noticed my finger felt on fire the screen was so hot earlier today. Your best bet at this point might be stock, OC/UV, or bust sadly

Well if you really don't want third party apps then just install kernel via aroma installer and select something around 1200MHz I know you can at least do that with bricked kernel
Sent from my sensational sensation 4g
not really the answer you are looking for, but I just want to tell you that it makes no difference whether you underclock it to 1ghz yourself or if the original kernel is set at 1ghz. They will both consume the same amount of power. I think the best way to approach this is to underclock it yourself to 1ghz and UNDERVOLT with system tuner. my sensation is stable at 1.02ghz @ 937.50mV
Thanks guys for all of your help. I just went back to Gingerbread and I guess i'll just have to wait until official ICS...again, thanks.
