Anyone know of a place that repairs the Xoom? I just found out that the charger prong on my xoom is bent so I can't charge my Xoom. In the meantime I'm going to pick up a standard charging dock to charge my Xoom.
Update: Sending back to Motorola for repair. Weird thing is I bought the standard dock and it still wouldn't charge through the bottom charging contact. Bummed out, I just bought it on May 5th and really starting to love this tablet better than the Acer A500.

Well, my jack fell off. If I take a plyers and pull it out of the tablet it works for a bit.
I was wondering if I sould send it back to VS, even tough there is some damage and all my rubber pads are missing. The device has not been opened.
Or...
Should I fix it myself, and how hard is it.
My main problem was opening those god damned tabs, they just wont budge and I dont want to butcher my case.
Bump, Anyone?
It is possible to solder it back on, have a look here for a discussion: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842354&page=18
I've not found a replacement jack yet.
i may be going down this road soon myself... mine is getting a bit doddgy...
Does anyone know if you can charge the device via the docking port jack? possibly that could be a better solution.... that port is MUCH more sturdy.
You can charge via the dock port using the dock. The dock does not come with a charger but you can use your stock charger on the dock and it will charge the gtab just fine. I have only charged from the dock since I've received my dock.
Where did you get the dock?
Man, this is pissing me off. I think my power adapter is bad. It won't charge the battery/keyboard dock or the asus anymore. Took me a while because I usually don't use the kb that much, but I don't see the flashing light when I plug it into the kb. Tried everything already, removing the tip and putting it back on. My KB is dead, zero juice left. My asus wouldn't power on either for a while, but now it has powered on long enough for me to plug it into the computer. The usb charging is taking forever but the asus did charge.
I'm looking for a power adapter and this thing is 45 bucks. What the hell....why so much. Anyone know of a cheaper deal. Hell, I should contact asus about this. Anyone got a replacement before? Are they good at responding.

I'm waiting for one to come in from Amazon right now. My original never worked, so I've been charging my TF through my laptop's USB port.
I think mine was $30.

can't believe how cheap it is
Wow....I've never had a power adapter go bad before a device before. Ever. I got tons of phone adapters around and other devices. I just took a sniff of the adapter, smells like it's burned. Luckily there wasn't a fire. Why the heck so cheap. I didn't know so many people having problems with the adapter.
The charger has no margin built in and appears to be running on the edge of its capacity. To make matters worse people are using it to charge the tab and dock paired which just stresses the charger more. My suggestion: If yoy don't want to kill your charger charge the tab and dock separate with down time between and plug into an outlet that will allow air flow.
I charge my dock and tab every morning when i get up. (I watch videos from my server at night). I try to never use my tab while its plugged in so I'm not putting any stress on the cable. It's too freaking short to reach my outlet to where I sit. Mine has been plugged into the same outlet for 2 months and it takes about an 1 1/2 hours to charge both the dock and tab and then I use it the rest of the day and night. I usually charge them together but sometimes i will charge the dock by itself if I use it a lot during the day
same here, my charger wont charge normally, it takes long time to fully charge now.
What part of the world are you in? I just ordered a new adapter cause I needed a new cord. If you just need the plug maybe we can split the damage and I can send u the new plug and keep the cord?

I'm in houston texas. How much do you want for just the adapter, (if you are in close shipping area).
there is another thread on here for alternative power adapters if yours is broken
Mine stopped charging the dock and only once in a while charged the tablet about 8 weeks ago. It was sent back to Asus repair in Canada along with the tablet - they didn't fix or replace the charger as requested on the RMA and they broke the tablet power button as well so it can not be turned on/off in any event. So another RMA and another month of waiting.
As far as I'm concerned this charger is the perfect accessory for the poor quality Transformer hardware and garbage support I've received from Asus.
I do not understand why anyone would buy a second / or replacement ASUS power adapter. As I have stated before they are marginal at best. If your breaks or you want a second. see the thread started by Devcake and get the Dynex universal camera adapter. It can do your TF, Dock and much more and costs less.
The other day my Transformer USB cable randomly melted. I kept smelling burning electronics/plastic in my room and was at first investigating a DVR that has been giving me issues, then when I sat back down burnt my leg pretty good on the USB cable
It was the end that plugs into the tablet that completely melted, but the USB plug end that goes to the wall was quite hot as well.
I plugged my brother in law's Galaxy Tab 10.1 and it indicated charging, but had a red X or something saying that it wasn't actually charging. Is that because the Tab uses different voltages or definitely that it's junk? I have a Fluke 87V volt meter, anyone know how I can test my USB wall wart to see if it will work if I just replace the cable? I'm nervous to get a new cable only and it get melted, but I can't really afford both halves.
Any recalls for this? The cable was in perfect condition.
just posting
I think you need a 12volt connect. The cable could have went bad. But I bet it's the charger part...they ain't cheap.
I really wish it worked with the MILLION smart phone ones I've got laying around
I know the cable is $19.99 for a 5 foot on ASUS, I'm scared to check the 12 Volt
$29.99 From ASUS with 5' Cable, not too bad

Some transformers were sold with faulty adapters...
Contact Asus for a warranty replacement.
And be angry about it on the phone as it could have caused a fire etc.
Hrm... I bought it from a friend, but perhaps he still had warranty and would help me out . I can look into that route
How does charging work? Can/Do you charge with both the dock and tablet connected?
I assume the charge port for the dock is located on the side? (I can't stand the fact that the tablet charge port is on the bottom thus making it difficult to put on charge and still use it because you can't stand it up...) :silly:
Assuming you keep your dock and tablet connected, how do they fold up?
-As in, is it secure in not making the connection fragile or in danger of breaking?
Obviously I currently only have the tablet BUT am watching the prices on the dock and considering purchasing one eventually.
Thanks.

The connector on the bottom of the table hooks into the port, while the dock charging port is on the left side of the dock. Opening and closing does not affect the charging connection whatsoever.
When the dock is connected by itself, it charges itself.
When the dock is *not* connected and the tablet is docked, the tablet will discharge down to 70%, then begin charging from the dock battery until it reaches 90%.
When the dock is connected with the table docked, both will charge.
I hope this helps.

The charging port is on the left-hand side. You can charge your tablet directly on the bottom, or plug it into the dock and charge it on the side.
The way charging works, is the dock has an interior battery that holds a charge. When you plug the tablet into the dock, the tablet will charge off of the docks' battery. So the dock will die before your tablets' battery is even taxed.
The dock/tablet fold up just like a regular laptop/netbook, in a much smaller and slimmer form factor. Its just like closing a book, honestly, and about the same size with half the weight.
Since the dock connector is on the side, closing the dock/tablet doesn't affect it charging.
Officemax has the dock for ~$100, just an FYI. I couldn't get a price match at Best Buy because we don't have an OfficeMax near where I live.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the great replies! WoW, OfficeMax on sale, eh?
That is exactly how I got my TF300T with a price match from "Best Buy" which is right up the road from Office Max in my situation. Picked up the tablet for $350 at the time :highfive:

Seems the sale was so popular they sold out of stock and ended it early. But I saw the dock for $100 about a week after I bought my tablet (so the 20th of June or so) and that's when I saw that price. But since it was so cheap, everyone and their moms' bought one. Sucks you missed out
Any updates on where to purchase the TF300T Dock for around $100 or the best price going at the moment? :fingers-crossed:
I had the same problem with my OG transformer and it's come back to hunt me back on the tf300, so basically the tablet doesn't charge when plugged in. also the cable doesn't sit perfectly, the back of the cable is out a bit which might be do to the curve design. so, any suggestions?
check again the conections, i had the same issue and the problem was that i had to push the usb port into the charger a little further
I tried, so I ended up just sending it to asus, going see what they say....
