I had the same problem with my OG transformer and it's come back to hunt me back on the tf300, so basically the tablet doesn't charge when plugged in. also the cable doesn't sit perfectly, the back of the cable is out a bit which might be do to the curve design. so, any suggestions?
check again the conections, i had the same issue and the problem was that i had to push the usb port into the charger a little further
I tried, so I ended up just sending it to asus, going see what they say....

A word of warning - I received my USB 3.0 extension cable from Amazon yesterday, plugged it in when I got home and it started to charge. I noticed after a few minutes that the charge icon had disappeared and now the charger does not seem to work at all; tried both dock and tablet sockets.
This was the cable recommended from the other thread on the forum about charging the device.

I'm fairly sure that it is the UK three pin socket part that has died as the machine is picked up by my PC over the USB cable. I've tried the usual taking the thing apart and re-clipping it back together, I've even checked the teeth on the cable to make sure nothing is damaged, still no joy.
I've emailed Asus support but after reading through the forum I'm not overly positive that they will be any help at all. I suppose I'll have to wait for the Chinese/Hong Kong factories to start kicking these out on Ebay as there doesn't seem anything in the UK at the moment. So I'll sit here and watch my 90% battery slowly die and the machine get covered in dust.
Why don't you get a cheap ipad charger in the meantime. Takes longer but do the charging overnight?

My PSU died, and after a week of back and forth to ASUS service they have declared my TF DOA and told Comet to replace it.
They are doing a doorstep swap tomorrow for me.
I have also posted about PSU's with a known fault, look in the accessories forum
I had the same issue. For me i fixed my PSU by unplugging everything for 20 minutes. Sounds silly but it works. Unplug from the wall socket, take the usb out of the PSU and the TF and leave it al alone for 20 minutes.

I checked my serial number a few days ago and it was supposed to be one of the ok ones.
I also took the thing to pieces as much as I could without resorting to a screwdriver. It's been left out over night and put back together a few times.
The whole thing doesn't look to be the best put together electrical item I've seen. In fact my Desire charger makes it look like some 5p Chinese shonk, oh err hang on a minute it is.
Just looking at iPad chargers now.
Same thing with me and extension off ebay one day after I got it. What I had to do was a factory reset to get it to show the charge icon. Now it's been fine since going on 2 weeks now.

I did that too, but it didn't work for mine, so i tapped it on my desk and voila, it works fine now.....dunno how long it'll last though

Funny you should say that, I was all about to give up and then gave it the tap of life on the window ledge and it started working again. The annoying part was that I'd moved it from the usual changing point to test it out so I have had to very gingerly move it back.
It's still working but I'm not sure how long it will last. I think that maybe the USB lead must have move something out, which is odd as it was a really loose light connection. The upshot is the charger is now going to be left untouched and the USB 3.0 lead is going in the bin.
Not really a robust item the wall charger!

I second this.....same has happened several times to me when trying to get usb 3 cable to act as charger lead extension. Just leave it unplugged for 15- 20 mins and all ok.
Charger or dock battery??
I don't know the inner-workings between the charging adapter, the USB cable and pins - and the dock battery itself so I thought I'd throw this out there:
My dock battery has stopped charging. I can plug the tablet into the dock - have the dock plugged into the wall - and the tablet itself will charge (and the adapter will heat up) - but as soon as I remove the tablet, the adapter cools down, and the dock battery never charges (just blinks orange forever).
I've just been assuming all along that it was the dock or the dock battery that had gone bad for some reason.
But would it be possible that it could be a pin / cable / adapter issue instead?
I wonder if different pins control the charging of the tablet vs the charging of the dock?
I'm *hoping* it's the dock itself because at least I can still return that and wait for another to come in stock. But if it's the adapter or cable, it looks like I'd be SOL and have to send my whole freakin tablet back for a replacement!
I'm sitting on hold with Asus now because last night neither my tablet or dock would charge. I do not have the extension cable but have one on order from Ebay. I was planning to test all the pins on the cable while the unit was charging to figure out which additional pins are communicating with the charger to start the charge. While sitting on hold I came across this post and decided to try the charger again and now my tablet is charging. Will try the dock once I'm fully charged.
I love my TF but this charging stuff is micky mouse. I hear some people can charge connected to a PC, I have never been able to. Now I need to do some more searching to see who had what extension cable from where.

It's all a bit of pot luck by the sounds of it.
Don't leave it on charge over night, don't plug the wrong sort of USB lead in and don't move the charger.
I think I'll be buying some £2 Ebay charger as soon as they appear, can't be any worse.

A sense of panic set in when my charger stopped working after trying to use a USB 3.0 extension cable I purchased from Monoprice. After following this simple suggestion, I'm happy to report that all is working once again.
I never did get the USB 3.0 extension cable to work though. It was one that others have reported success with too. I guess I'll be sticking to a cheap extension cord for now.
This extension from CompUSA works like a charm. Its prices is awesome too. The adapter charges TF/KB seamlessly for me. Spread the words.

Ultra also makes this cable in a 12 foot length. Part #U12-40579. I have both the 6 foot and 12 foot lengths and they charge my 32TF and dock without issues.Both can be purchased from CompUSA.
So, I'm traveling (for a long period of time) with my TF. One day, it stopped charging.
I took apart the power brick and put it back together, I even tried to freeze it (on advice from some older "not charging" threads), nothing helps.
When I connect the TF to my laptop via USB - it recognizes the TF. When I connect my iPod to the power brick (with its own cable obviously) - it charges just fine. So what broke?!
I hate this, the local stores here don't sell the power brick separately and I don't even know if that's the source of the problem.

Sounds like the power pin in the TF port has bent/broken or just has some detritus/dirt/foreign matter in it and is stopping it from charging properly. Have a look, but you might need to check the port with lots of light and a magnifying glass, so not easy while you're on the move.
If you are in the US Office Depot sells the charger and USB cable for $30.
strange thing is that sometime my transformer doesn't charge.
i have to reboot and it start to charge again.
Same happened here. Asus tech wanted me to wipe the device. After trying other options to get it to charge, I did but it didn't wipe... Go figure... But it booted up normally and now it has been charging.

Apparently charging has some history of issues on the TF101.
I just had mine act up on me, went around the house trying different wall sockets and checked that it worked fine via USB to PC. Ended up taking a can of dust-off to all the pins, then shoving the plug hard into the TF101 socket. Now it works.
Should have mentioned I have a dock as well, which doesn't charge either (so problem is probably with cable/brick)
I'm trying to get new ones (nowhere to be found here, but I'm trying to get one sent to me). I tried looking for dust/dirt and different wall sockets, no luck.
Weird thing - I left it plugged in to the wall overnight and it grew from 5% to 15%, so looks like some electricity is trickling.
I had the same problem with mine after I had it for 5 weeks, I just RMA'd it and everything is fine.
Im having the same exact problem. I left it charging over night by mistake the night before yesterday. I only let it charge 3 hours the most because I know the Transformers have known issues.
I tried to charge it this morning and nothing. I plug it into my PC. The PC recognized the Transformer but no charging. Turned it on and off, nothing.
Just put the power brick in the freezer, waiting to dry up to see if it works .
Although the tf charger and cable has a usb connector it is not usb compliant. the charger brick looks for a gnd signal on pin 7 of the usb connector ( normally a usb 3.0 data line) to determine it should supply 15V to the positive charge pin vs standard 5V. The slow charge you are seeing is from the 5V supply . check to see if pin7 is seeing the gnd signal. Are you using a usb 2.0 extension cable as it doesn't have have pin 7 conductor. be careful connecting your ipod as it could accidentaly see 15V vs the 5V it is designed for.
So I've searched through the other forums and haven't seen my exact issue. I'm running cromiX 4.7 with hunds kernel. Last night I was playing Dungeon hunter, when I noticed my dock/keyboard was no longer showing in my notification tray. So I rebooted, tried to reconnect it etc. No luck, the tablet still wasn't detecting it. So I began troublshooting. First thing I did was go plug it into the charger, the led came on so I know it's getting power. So to verify the port was working I plugged in my tablet to the dock and plugged it back into the charger and it began charging my tablet and dock, like I do every night. So I know there is power and I know that the port is functioning. I reloaded cromi, and tried a different rom and the dock still isn't being detected. Has anyone encountered this issue? Thanks
EDIT: Upon further inspection I noticed, that when the tablet is docked and charging cable attacked the LED on the tablet and dock lights up but the tablet is NOT charging, even though the LED charging lite is on.
FIXED: So i decided to dissassemble the dock (Very easy) and removed all cables and hinge, checked for scorch marks etc. Once everything looked good I reconnected all cables and verified that they are secure. Upon reconnecting my tablet, I found that the tablet once again was seeing the dock. So no surprise, ASUS just built a crummy product, great idea just poorly designed. Hope this helps others.

I took an esd brush and cleaned out dock port and tablet port and took air compressor to blow out any debris, no luck.
originally the display on my tf101 failed so I had to open it up to tighten the video cable. In the process I damage the chrome trim. As a result since then I've been using the tablet without the trim attached. This caused the connector plug to not sit firmly in the tablet and I fear what has happened is the tablet while it was plugged into the cable has fallen and damaged the connector. Because now it seems a little loose and it wouldn't charge. I would see the red battery icon on the screen showing dead battery. I have since bought a TF 700 and I tried to use its cable but it still won't charge the TF 101. The TF 101 won't turn on now. I kept it plugged into the charger and a PC for days at a time and the TF 101 still wont turn on. Also when I plug tf101 into computer the computer doesn't recognize it because the tablet has no charge. Is there an easy way to fix the connector or will someone like to pay for shipping for this tf101 for parts or to fix for themselves?
Could you provide some close-up pics? PC won't charge this tablet because the USB ports don't provide enough power, and it wouldn't recognize the tablet without charge. From the looks of it, the easiest way to fix this would be replacing the part or sending it in for repairs. There is a site that specializes specifically in charging connectors: asustf101 . com (sorry, can't post outside links yet), but I guess you were looking for a way to fix it without spending that much money. I got a Nexus 5 since December, and ever since I've had the phone, I've been having a tiny problem with the USB cord that came with it.
First of all, when I plug my phone into my computer with the cord, my PC would say my phone is connected and then in a split second it would say it's not connected. Then it repeats over and over and over again until I unplug my phone. This only happens with my USB cord. My sister also bought a Nexus 5 and her stock USB cord doesn't do this on my PC.
Secondly, when I'm charging my phone...if I hold my finger on the touch screen, it would jitter and jump around even though I'm not moving my finger. This doesn't seem to happen when I'm not charging or using my sisters charger cord.
Please help because this is kind of annoying... :\
This problem can be easily fixed. Use another usb cable and see if charging works. If it does then it's most likely the stock charger is broken like you said. If it's not a cable issue then it's the phone's usb port. Replace it yourself or RMA it.
about your phone jumping around when you touch the screen while its charging.. get a new charger, its your charger 100%. ive had this happen on all 7 of my android phones. as soon as i get a new charger, with the right volts/watts, it stops happening.
You have a slight chance of fixing the issue by thoroughly cleaning your usb cord. Use an interdental brush and compressed air to clean the cable from both sides preferrably. While you're at it, carefully clean your phone's connector too.
Its astonishing how many charging related issues are results of dirty connectors.
It really sounds like your cable broke though...
