Honeycomb Viewsonic Gtablet Benchmarking Video! - G Tablet General

Thanks for all the great posts.
I noticed that the textures in the room ( the walls and floors ), as well as the textures on the planet and moon are visible when you run the test in HC. This is interesting to me because on more than one tablet running Ginger I never saw textures on these tests. I have seen them in the Froyo builds, and I assume this is because of HW acceleration.
Is the partial HW acceleration that is working in HC resposible for the textures showing?
Anyone else experience the same results ( no room or planet textures ) when running Quadrant on Vegan Ginger?
Thanks

Sure hope they reviewed out of box and with TnT 2.20 as a comparison, or we already know the score

Doesn't sound like they're going to. Complains about crappy/slow GUI OOB, and awful viewing angles. Sound familiar?
Crushed the Galaxy Tab in ALL of the benchmarks (sunspider, browsermark, linpack, and quake III) excepting a synthetic graphics test. Also did the same to most of the smartphones, except linpack where one came out ~1 MFLOP ahead, however they apparently realized that it didn't appear that apps/Android we effectively utilizing both cores...
I just wish that they'd've tossed in the Nook Color into the benching...
(Tegra apparently loses synthetic tests as I guess that they're optimized for tile renderers(ARM Mali & PowerVR(they ALWAYS did tiling)) v. standard rendering with the nVidia GPU. (Guess that's why the planet/moon 3D anim looks awful(shadowing) in quadrant... crappy tile rendering...)

Strange on the rendering, since not seeing that with mine (Perhaps Nvidia driver isssue out of box).
I did notice errors last night testing the Droid 2 Global (1.2ghz) with Quadrant at a VZW store. Graphic errors with same planet/moon segment. 1500 score average.

The game Star Blitz low performance

Hi
I have installed the new game star blitz. But i have very low fps. How about you?
Good preformance but game is very boring. Much better is GunBross.... this is the same game but space looks poor .
Well in my case game is laggy. It has not more than 15fps. Gun bros runs perfect...
Yup, it's not smooth, maybe 25fps. By the way the game is boooring.
Well anyway right now the game is not playable
try zoom to fit the screen (HC 3.2) if it's available, should boost your fps (in any games).
zoom is not aviable. Well it is bad optimilisation so we will have to wait for a patch
i dont understand how everyone always knows what their FPS are. are you guessing? or do you have an app that allows you to see your current FPS somewhere on your screen?
i know there are benchmark apps that show you your FPS in that benchmark but in specific games where people magically know they get 15 FPS, how do you see those numbers?
there is nothing to understand. Below 20 fps you can feel that the game is not smooth. I wrote 15 fps just as an example to show that the game is not smooth enough. I do not know maybe it is 16 or 18. Anyway it is not the way it should be.

graphics on sensation(gameloft games)

just want to clear things out,
can u guys check with me about graphic issues,
like in NOVA3, Batman: dark knight rises graphics are like low end phone! no dynamic lighting, no motion blur, all the reflection are gone
compare to GS2 and Gnote, my sensation is like running in very low graphics
Because in modern combat 3, our sensation runs smoothly with all the nice enhancements(motion blur..etc), this shows that our phone can handle it.
Is the problem lies with gameloft or our phone??
Mali-400MP vs adreno 220
this really piss me off paying for the game, but having a very low graphic especially our phone is on par with GS2
example :
http://forum.gameloft.com/index.php/topic,56753.0.html
No it's the way the apps are built. Some phones get the full effect, while others get the short end of the stick. I'm not sure how gameloft chooses which devices get all effects. You have to edit the game files to get better graphics, here is a example.. http://www.jayceooi.com/2012/07/05/how-to-enable-dead-trigger-tegra-3-extended-effects-on-non-tegra-3-device/

Horrible screen banding on new shield k1

Hello everybody
I recently picked up new shield tablet k1 and played with it a bit until i noticed something strange i didnt experience with my other tablets - banding. Everything looks OK if you browse photos, websites etc, but any 3D game shows horrible banding in place of gradients. Im running stock kernel with OTA 1.2, no idea if it happened with 1.1 because i updated right away after first booting my tablet. Also checked every possible colour settings, force gpu rendering, wipe erase data and reinstalling it all also makes no difference.
It doesnt look like screen issue because gradients on lcd test websites look great. I'll pick some screenshots later when im back home to show my issue, just wondering if anybody else had the same problem and any tips are very welcome.
Could you give us some examples of games that show this problem? I personally haven't ever noticed this, but I'll try some new games (to me anyway) and let you know if I have the same thing.

It happens for example in Simcity Buildit, where its most noticeable on loading screens, but with closer look also on gui elements. Also in games like Rayman Adventures, Marvel Contest of Champions or Modern Combat
Here's screenshot from Simcity loading screen

Same here but I only notice it when using full brightness.
I think the developers use only 16 bit graphics. That in combination with the large full hd screen makes that more noticable than on larger screens.

This makes no sense as those games are supposed to be optimized for shield, developers would have to forcre 16 bit rendering for Tegra exclusively. Those games look better on much weaker devices.
Hi, I have also this problem playing Minecraft, Geometry Dash and the same Rayman Adventures. I thought it could resolve with a wipe but nothing. Strangest thing I noted is that is a software problem, since you can see those bands also in a screenshot or in a screen cast.
Probably we have to report to nvidia as an issue of the last ota
Did you contacted them?
I didn't contact them yet because im trying to gather more information, at first i thought its issue with my device but it seems this affects more tablets.
I did some tests. Seems like grey scales are more affected, but also other colours have this banding. I tried the same tests on Motorola Moto E and LG G3 and there aren't band. But doing a screenshot i can see the band in other phones too.
I don't know if this happens also on other firmware version or on custom ROMs.
I tested this with stock Android 5.1.1 and there was the same issue, so it's not ROM specific. Also worth noticing is the fact that all gradients look very good on images or websites. I'll try to test this with GLTools faking GPU info, the same trick allows Tegra to run properly XCOM: Enemy Within without graphical glitches.
If your tab is rooted, can you test if this happen in custom ROM too, or with a custom kernel? Maybe is nvidia fault.
However that is the weirdest. If I remember right, photos and web navigation aren't drawn by GPU, differently from games and particular test images, I don't want to say a stupid thing though.
Since I didn't rooted yet, principally for warranty reason, I have to wait any fixing ota, hoping that it isn't hardware fault
I tested it with GLTools faking GPU info with no positive result, so the last possible test is custom kernel and custom rom.
EDIT
Unofficial Kernel changed nothing. Didn't try with custom ROM yet and at this point i think its pointless. All seem that its Tegra driver behavior and unless it gets updated we have to stick with what we've got.
I believe I have the answer : the precision of the hardware (or firmware) texture interpolators is way lower than on other platforms. Maybe something like fixed point 24.2 instead of 24.8. See for details first result on google (I can't post url...) : "iq hardware interpolation"
I had extreme banding on a bloom FX on HP Slate 7 extreme only (tegra, was working fine on Nexus 5 (adreno gpu) and PC (GTX970)), on a dark orange gradient. I switched to manual interpolation in the shader, and the problem was gone. So I doubt the issue can be fixed with an android update, maybe a driver update, or maybe not at all as it could be hardware design, to improve performance (but at what cost !).

MiA1 GPU Artifacting in GTA SA

I just got my Mi A1 and am loving it so far. Im coming form a 2013 Nexus 5 that's battery was soo worn it only held 1500mAh on a good day. So everything about this phone has been solid till I launched GTA:SA from the app store. The game runs significantly better than it did on my Nexus 5 in terms of frame rate consistency and overall headroom to bump up settings but I'm noticing some serious graphic artifact issues regardless of what settings I use. They seem to appear as polygons get stretched and over large portions of the screen. I've seen similar things happen on PC graphics chips when overheating / poor traces however this is a new phone and seems to be software related as other games don't seem to reproduce the issue.
(intended on posting photo's but Im new to XDA forums and am unable to have links)
My goal in making this thread is to find out if anyone else is experiencing a similar issue with this specific title (official off playstore) or worst case; in other games. I tested Real Racing 3 and Simple Planes and PUBG (all full 3D titles) and all ran exceptionally well without any graphic artifacts. I don't believe this is an isolated case as the few video's that exist on youtube of GTA:SA played on this device seem to show similar visual glitches that were not present on my weaker and older Nexus 5. In addition, could it be the OREO 8.0 update that causes these issues? The only other clues I have found are a small handful of device-specifc reviews saying their games crash on missions and like one review complaining about the artifacting. Any information / advice on settings would be helpful!
Thanks all!
This problem is not happening on our device only fyi. From what I've seen, although I may be wrong for not researching enough, it happens on any device running Nougat or newer.
First thing first gta sa is not android platform game it's a console game I don't know about how much its in size but I guess it's almost 5GB maybe. Rockstar did compressed game for provide it on android (I'm not a fan of this game) I seen that game when my fiends playing and noticed some hiccups on ps2 console too those are the graphics hiccups so you can aspect them on android too, because it's ported not developed for android.
Talking about android gaming it's smooth (on mi a1) android games developer provide their best, for example need for speed Hot Pursuit is created from scratch not ported by EA Games and on android there some GPU limitations (console vs potable device gaming) thats why we are not able to play every single game on our devices when we redirect from any web browser to playstore so playstore said that game is not for your device etc. (resident evil 5)
As I can see that game is updated last in 2015 and its not optimized for newer android with newest drivers. When I compare my mi a1 gaming and Samsung galaxy s2 (almost 5 year older device) in gaming performance there is no change (on stock ROMs) like real racing 3, plants vs zombies 2, clash of clan, asphalt 8,dead trigger 2 whereas both devices are not same on software and hardware level but they run smooth.
What a shame.

Yeah this seems to be the case from what im seeing too. Welp, thats a shame. I mean it ran fine prior. I tried to adjust some visual settings to try my best to minimize the issue. In addition i read that multiple iOS users have had similar issues. Here are hopes that some android updates and or driver related updates do some good for this game. It's a fantastic title and amazing to have on the go. Runs at a solid framerate too on the MiA1 regardless of graphic settings so here are hopes that it gets resolved in the future.
It's not only Mi A1 problem and even not only Snapdragon/Adreno. I experience exactly same artifacts on Honor V10 with Mali GPU. Also it sometimes just crashes after few minutes of gaming.
I've faced the same issue on both on and off playstore. Had to return the game because of it
The game runs well enough, but the glitches make it look _very_ unappealing. Strangely, the glitching increases when I drop down the settings. When I max out the settings, the glitches are less frequent, but it lags and stutters a bit (maybe it needs an 8xx processor for fluid gameplay in Ultra.)
Now doubt gta 5 is one of best and my most favorite game on the internet. I am playing it since day 1 but now I am facing a lot of issues while playing it through gta 5 apk. Hopefully these will be fixed and I will start it again soon.
The first name in such a game is Grand Theft Auto. The most popular and iconic game in the GTA series developed by Rockstar games.
