[INFO] My HTC Sensation pics (post yours too!) - HTC Sensation

I was lucky enough to get my HTC Sensation yesterday, so here are some pics for people that might be interested.
I couldn't find a screenshot app in the Market that didn't require root, so back to the old faithful digital camera. The HTC Sensation's screen is very glossy, which makes reflections a bit of a pain, I'm afraid.
I would take a video, but (a) the autofocus is screwed on my camera, and (b) a 640x480 video wouldn't do the HTC Sensation's screen any justice at all!
I've got 12 pics in total, having to attach them 4 at a time...

4 more....

and the last four....
(apologies, they seem to be getting darker and grainier!)

Battery life went from 72% to 69% in 7 minutes.
[angst] Oh noezz, the battery life suxxzzzz lolz [/angst]

A bit better, yes, it's only disconnected once since I switched the option on, as opposed to fairly regularly beforehand. The option says that this uses more battery, so what could it be doing then?

Nothing particularly, although the screen was on for the whole of that time. The phone is still on its first charge cycle, though. The battery was about 70% charged out of the box, so I let it run down to 9% then charge it overnight back up to 100% and left it plugged in for about 6-7 hours in total (it only took about 3-4 to get to 100% though).

hope to upload a video of unboxing to youtobe!

Thx sjgore for feedback.

what about the feeling of it ... smooth enough???
and the microphone quality in videos ? how is it please ??

Yes how is the speaker quality? I want to know if its loud.

no i mean the voice thats recordet when you take videos ....
if its metalic or as goog as the sound from samsung

benchmarks!!!
Please!!!

The camera is excellent. Taking still shots, it takes a fraction of a second (barely perceivable) to actually take the shot, rather than the usual 2-3 seconds with other phones as the phone tries to focus and process the data. Very good quality pics too, with what I have taken so far.
Taking videos in full HD is excellent too. Very smooth, and the phone seems to do it with ease. Smooth playback, no juddering or screen tearing. No problems with sound either. Very clear, couldn't hear any background hiss or distortion.

Tell me hows your battery life after root.

My phone has been charging awfully slow on the A/C Adapter. And it drain that battery on 3 hours. I'm still looking at what could've caused this.
Very good thus far. First charge was a little slow which I chalked up to conditioning.
Check Google Talk make sure you are not signed in. Open it, menu then settings and remove auto sign in. Then menu and sign out.
Make sure 4g isn't on
Make sure gps isn't on
Make sure bluetooth isn't on
Same with wifi unless you are using them. They are easy enough to turn on and off as needed.
Screen brightness to auto
Check facebook, twitter, weather etc.. refresh settings.
Check mail settings if not using IMAP. POP3 searching every 5 or 15 minutes in low signal areas can be a huge drain.
I also removed all the bloat crapware that I didn't want on anymore. I also used a program called "Startup Manager" to prevent all the other crap from loading all the time on reboot and randomly throughout the day.
The epic gets a little less signal than my EVO did. Although the EVO had 3 or 4 radio upgrades to get it where it is now but for now it is a little less which will use a little more power until we get a few updates.
I'm getting excellent life thus far.

When I got my phone, surprisingly it was almost drained. So I plugged it for about 3 hours and it completely charged. Now I put it on the AC Adapter and it was around 20% and when I look at the time 4 hours had passed by and still wasn't 100%. I would say it took 4 hours and 20 minutes. And I looked at the Battery used and it said 73% Display. The rest were like 5 things with 3 or 5%.
Thank You!
Yes.. Yes..! Please Do so tell..
I will make this short and sweet. I am arguing with my fiancee cause I just showed her two videos the Epic's camera and how they looks amazing. I saw a few videos taken today on the tube and this was to much to handle. I have an Evo and I compared and yes the Evo has more density due to the extra 3MP but the capture and sharpness of the Epic is amazing. The extra LED is great, a little brighter on Pictures. Not Much! The screen is a tad bit bigger, but horrid in the light, but who's outside like 24? Eh, I need everyone to convince me in.. So I have questions!
Dlna.. How has video Playback been?
Battery Life?
Smoothness, ADW Launcher Pro, Come on guys you know the drill..! I wanna know all the above!

I haven't messed with DLNA yet. Looks like you can stream from the PC and other media devices fairly easily with "All Share" but I haven't had a chance to mess with it. Basic codec support is still significantly better than the EVO. No need for rock player. Although the music player is different than the Touchwiz 3.0 devices which should be updated with Froyo.
My battery life has been equal to my Evo. Maybe a little better.
There is no comparison with smoothness or in Camera / video taking quality. The Epic beats the EVO hands down and this was the big reason my evo is on Ebay right now. Hands down the Epic wins.
Keyboard is very nice. Swype is also nice (had it on my evo as well).
Screen is much better and brighter. It seem to be easier to clean as well for whatever reason.
The downsides?
Nothing major that I can see. Developer support should be good since the Galaxy S has been released on every carrier. Porting to the Epic should be trivial once the keyboard files are isolated.
Regardless, the EVO needs to be rooted to even be a decent phone. The Epic far less so. I've removed some of the crap ware and stopped some of the auto starting apps and that is about it. Thus far the Epic has been very good. It does have a fair bit of crap preinstalled but its easy to remove.
I do find the Epic's screen, while better than the Evo, does seem a bit high in contrast. Its still much better in all regards IMO but I do notice it. We might be able to adjust this at some point.
The side power button is something to get used to, not a huge deal but odd.
Having the micro usb port up top is a mixed thing as well. Its a little farther from the power source if you are on the device talking to if your cord is short it could be an issue. Otherwise its easier to hold IMO without the cord and such getting in the way when resting in your hand while surfing.
I think JuiceDefender is killing my battery.. :S I used it Yesterday without Root and old apps and I could swear the phone lasted the whole day.

That's perfect, I still need to hear if it gives errors in the DLNA playback. From TV 2 PS3 whichever anyone can confirm. I know the Evo has codec issues when playing video from it. Just wanted to be sure this was not an issue in it there.
Otherwise the camera quality yes is amazing on the epic. I dint get it the Evo is 8mp, err? Anyways I am happy, I am going to exchange my Evo from what it looks like. I guess I have to get used to not having sense anymore. Thats about it.
More would be great if anyone cares to share to a fellow Evo pondered mind?

Well. I'm gonna find a way to remove root. Since I am 100% sure its draining my battery and fast. It's either that or Juice Defender (Plotter) I took it out of the charger at 5 am, left it on my bed and when I checked on it 55 minutes later it was 94%.
Battery life is exactly the same, all we did was root there are no ROMs to install which could impact battery in a positive or negative way so far. Again all we did was gain super user permissions root does not impact battery life whatsoever.
My battery life appears to drain slower now that I've rooted, that probably is because I have SetCPU underclocking my phone to 200mhz when the screen is off so it won't waste battery. Also if you are draining quickly you can look in Settings> About Phone> Battery Usage as to what is using the most battery. A good chance if you have f.e. Live Wallpapers on or something is that they will drain your battery. Also depending on what you have enabled for email syncing, etc. that may play a role. I keep my phone signed into Google Talk + Google Sync + TouchDown Exchange syncing all day and seem to have no issue at all. (I was at 60% after a full day's use yesterday, and that included some foray into the world of 4G in the area.

All of those settings are off. Email, Facebook, No LWP, no SetCPU. I really think its juice defender the culprit here. Cause it all happened when I restored my apps using Titanium Backup.
When you restored did you restore the apps plus data or the apps by themselves? When you add the data in that can lead to problems because the data was for another phone.

There isn't a backup in Titanium Backup of only apps. You can restore Apps with Data only.
Slow battery charging via USB after rooting? unplug the USB, go to settings and disable USB debugging. Plug the cable back in and select "Charging" from the pop-up.
problem solved.

i to have noticed significant drain after the one click root process... i have had my phone running for maby 4 hours off a full and with it in my pocket it can go dead.... doesnt happen all the time and i must say as well that the charging is extremely slow for me as well... hopefully there is a fix for this soon.. might have to do a restore and see if that helps.

Ummm... Yes you can. Open up Titanium Back up, press Menu -> Batch -> (Choose your restore function), then tap the radio button next to "App Only" instead of "App+Data". You can even just restore the data instead of the app!

Hi.
If you go into your performance profiles, check if it is on balanced. I found that being on the max setting makes the device pretty hot. Also, physical contact can warm up the device, so maybe get a case or something.
Furthermore, if you are using MX player, try switching from HW to SW and see if that helps.
Not sure what you mean by shelf life, if you mean battery decay I have no idea.

Well, if you'd like to change your performance profiles, go to settings -> performance and check on what profile you're on. You can try to change to power save. You'd think the phone would get slow, but it's a OnePlus One and it doesn't get slow.

Latest ws update seems to lower battery life because all 4 cores are active, but its jumping up&down with each update, so I would wait until 7.1 will be available
About the graininess of photos. With full 23MP and automatic ISO your photos will always be like this!
8MP mode works like charm, eliminating graininess, just like in old Nokia's with 40MP sensors. And if you want lossless zoom, try playing with ISO setting, it makes miracles with our phone.
Sony's sensor is just too good for average autosettings user IMHO. (and their superior auto suck most of the times, but Shhhh! )

Exactly the same with me... is this considered bad? Its always been like that!

Can I expect lag-free and long battery life on S8+?

I'm trying to choose between samsung s8+ and sony xz premium. Samsung is offering a very good discount, and the larger screen is a plus for me over xzp. But I had very very terrible experience with s5: response could take like 10+ seconds, and the battery life sucked. These two are the biggest concerns for me looking at s8+. I know phones generally performs well when they are out-of-box, and I'd like to hear from owners who have been using s8+ for a while: how is the experience regarding response time and battery life?
I've had my S8+ for a while now, and the batterylife is beyond what I have ever tried on any other phone.. I have not yet been able to drain it on a single day.. Always above 45-50% when I end the day.. with 3-4 hours of SOT.
About the lag some people talk about, I will say (Though never owned a pixel) it's probably not AS smooth as the pixel with stock android, but I have not experienced any lag. I'm also using Package Disable to disable about 104 packages, which helps quite a bit as well I usually always have above 1GB of RAM free.
I hope this helped a little
Stock.. havnt disabled anything with alot of apps installed (restored from my s7edge) and so far doesn't lag even with QHD screen resolution.

How about battery life?
S8+ using QHD+, Medium brightness with location, wifi, and data always on, and I've been able to easily hit 7+ hours of screen on time (SOT) with heavy usage such as lots of YouTube videos , light gaming for hours (clash Royale and clash of clans), Instagram, Reddit, and browsing the internet. Even on other days where I'm doing super super intensive usage like Bluetooth to car and listening to music, and gps navigation at the same time along with lots of 4k video recordings I can easily last through the day. I'm not even scared to leave the house with only 60% if it's the start of the day since it'll last me that long. Quick charge is a cherry on top too. Screen is gorgeous and I keep the always on display enabled .
My s5 never lagged

Depends really.. QHD and spending most of the day on 4G I get around 4.5 hrs. FHD and Wi-Fi gets around 5.5 hrs.
Ive only had the phone for a week and I am on vacation. So it's too soon to judge as I am always taking pictures and uploading on social media... talking on VOIP etc. I can easily last 10 hrs or so with loads on pictures and social media and phone calls and YouTube (not a gamer). So I think normal work/home days would def get me around 5 hrs with QHD.

Easily one of the best battery life I've had on a smartphone. Definitely worth it. And that's with heavy usage too, YouTube and gaming pretty much all day

Other than the glaring camera distortion issue, how is this phone?

I've been reading up on the camera distortion issue and I'm quite disappointed in Sony's attitude towards it but despite that, the device seems great and I ended up ordering one off eBay (the dual SIM model).
What's everyone's views on this phone knowing the camera has issues? Does it make you want to return your phone or are you keeping it?
Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Tapatalk
At first I really thought of returning it because the distortion issue, but it is pretty minor for me at least (compared to what other people have, the distortion in my phone isn't that bad). But forgetting this thing, I really like the phone. 6 weeks with it already, and it's performing damn good. The battery life is very good (7 hours SOT usually, and with my usage I only charge it once every two days), the performance is unbeatable, with a bit of tweaks the camera can shine, nothing bad to say about the build quality at all, and the most important thing for me, the sound output, is incredible. Also the display is very colorful, you can see no pixel on it, and the dark levels are very good for a non-amoled display. Didn't had any problems with wifi droppings in this weeks, and the LTE speed and stability is perfect. As cons I would say the lack of wireless charging and the bezels could have been smaller. But those issues are in no way more relevant than the pros. I am happy with my phone and I would recommend it.

That's pretty much exactly what my thoughts on this phone are.
I highly recommend this phone. I just upgraded from an Xperia Z5 which was my very first Xperia phone, the second being my XZ Premium. I've had for almost exactly 2 weeks and I'm REALLY impressed by this thing.
I listen to music a lot on my phone using Bluetooth headphones, and the sound quality is phenomenal. The equalizer really kicks ass, it's way better than pretty much all of the equalizer apps I've tried. All of the equalizer apps I've used tend to lower the actual output volume way too much. With Sony's EQ enabled, your actual output volume won't be any lower than having the EQ disabled.
The overall performance is absolutely amazing. Responsiveness remains instantaneous no matter what I'm doing on the phone, or what's running in the background etc. It just WILL NOT SLOW DOWN!
The camera distortion is really a non issue to me. I believe it's just a software issue anyway. I take photos all the time on it and never noticed it until I saw it on this forum, then went and replicated it for myself. It's really no big deal at all for me personally.
Build quality is REALLY nice. This is a premium feeling phone to me. Only downside is that this phone will slide on any surface way too easily. If you have it on a perfectly flat smooth surface that has even a SLIGHT angle, this phone will slide down it. That does annoy me a bit, but I'll be getting a case for this phone anyway which will fix it. But I would 100% have still bought this phone even if I knew beforehand, it doesn't detract from actually using it.
Battery life is very good. If I charge it overnight from say 10-11pm and take it off charge at around 5-6am, I'll listen to about 45 mins to an hour of music or YouTube in the morning, browse in Chrome, reading and sending emails and also using SMS / Hangouts / FB messenger periodically throughout the day. After another hour of music or YouTube come around 5pm, it's sitting at around 65-70% battery. All of this is with BT left turned on, connected to WiFi most of the day, mobile data always on, location always on, brightness around 50%.
I'd easily recommend this phone. Bloody fantastic.

Agree 100%. I think the camera issue is phone dependant... meaning that mine does not appear to be as bad as some. Still hope that for those who are having issues that Sony comes out with a fix.
I agree with all the sentiment posted here. It really is a great device, and I'd definitely recommend it. I am hopeful that we'll have a safe DRM unlock / root solution at some point, but as stock Androids go, this beats most.
I barely notice the camera issue. All my photos so far have turned out fine but they are mainly of people and landscapes. I have had the phone 2 weeks now and honestly couldn't be happier, I use it as both my personal and professional device. I usually get a good day from a charge with a good 6.5-7 hours of SOT a day with multiple emails sent, a few calls and a few apps constantly running. I actually like the smart charge feature too, I only charge my phone during sleep hours so there is no inconvenience for me about charge time. I do miss there being no cap avarice buttons but only because my previous phone (Note 4) had them and I did like the full screen being an actual screen! For what I use this phone for it excels at but we all use ours differently. What usage are you wanting for your ideal device??

Hi, could you tell me the tweaks fpr the camera please
I have been using this phone for about 2 months now and here's my Honest review.
The Android OREO fixed many things. the camera in OREO includes an option "correction for image distortion" so the only issue of this phone "camera distortion" is gone. there is also DRM fix available for this phone now. performance-wise many people said that the phone lags on some games but thats a totally different story. Asphalt 8 and all other gameloft games have stutter issues. the games that doesnt work smooth are probably due to optimization issues. this phone can run GTA SA on fully max graphics. antutu score is 180,000 which is awesome. the LPDDR4X ram is fast enough to hold and process all data without any drop in performance. we all know that the 4k display is running in 1080p and only enables 4k in apps that support it (like youtube and sony album).
there are a lot of good things about this phone. some people said that the speakers are very quite but they are forgetting the fact that both speakers are facing towards the user so in a noisy environment too the sound can be heard by the user easily and is nothing to worry about. the 3D Creator app is fun to play with. the camera can be even better if you know how to use it in manual mode so that depends on preferences of the user. as for the charging speed, it is quite brilliant actually. for example if you need some battery urgently then a 15 min charge would give you 30-35% battery and you will be good to go for about 6+ hours (SOT would be less, depending on usage). as for me, i ordered the spigen carbon painted case for this phone and now the phone looks even better. better grip better handling. the phone just amazes in almost every aspect. i have used s8, op5 and iphone 8 but there is something special about XZ premium. it just is perfect in every aspect that you can think of.
The 3230mah battery seems small for 5.46' 4K display but its running 1080p that too on 10nm battery efficient chipset makes up for it.
PS: im not a fanboy or anything like that im reviewing what i experienced. there are goods and bads about every phone and according to that logic this phone has too many goods and very very rare bads which arent even noticeable.
Regards.
