Hi,
I've recently moved to 3.1 and I needed to encrypt my tablet for exchange synching. When moving through the encrypt process, my xoom reboots after 1 minute, but the tablet is still not encrypted. The process is said to take about an hour and appears to work on a stock image (MZ604_HWI69).
Has anyone been able to successfully encrypt their tablet after rooting and moving to 3.1 from stock?
I'm wondering if there is something simple that I need to do to get this working. Any help on this is appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi, I just got the 4g modem installed in my Xoom. I would like to upgrade from honeycomb to ICS. There are many choices/techniques. I tried this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1484770
Got to step 4 and could not do the, "...factory rest within recovery" I can reset all day via Apps-Settings-Privacy-Factory Data Reset. The Android Recovery option starts but seems to lock at the Android dude (exclamation mark on stomach). I would like the unit to perform quickly so I assume rooting is the way to go. I have a sd card installed as well. Please advise. Thanks
Hi all.
I have a difficult situation to resolve. I have two identical tablets, Onda V971, both are running Android 4.0.3. I tried to update one of them, but the process failed and it won't start at all anymore. So, is there any way to use/copy the data on the working tablet to the non-working one? Is it something that can be done?
Hi guys
In order:
- I'm a disabled guy and the only way I can use a phone is through my computer by installing a VNC server on the phone
- therefore I got some help to root my Moto G
- everything was great for a couple of months, but then…
- yesterday, the VMlite app/server on my phone stopped working
- okay, I thought, as the phone is bugging me about an update I may as well do all that at the same time; update to 4.4 then hope the VNC starts working again
- no dice. Installation failed. Okay, do a factory reset, then try again
- the phone doesn't even shut down now, as the “warning bootloader unlocked" sign flashes and then the phone starts up again
- reset clears all my data, but it won't let me update to 4.4 and VMLite still doesn't work
Any ideas on how I can save this situation? I don't care about 4.4 now, but I am desperate to get VNC control back over my phone, otherwise I can't use it at all. Many thanks.
Antony
You can flash stock firmware 4.3 or 4.4.2 using Fastboot. First thing is the get the phone working properly again, then investigate the VNClite issue. If you restore 4.3, you will likely be bugged about updating to 4.4 unless you root and delete the files related to updating.

Ever since I started using custom ROMs over a year ago, I've had problems getting the builtin Android dm_crypt (full disk encryption) working on JellyBean and up. Usually what would happen is that it would say it's going to reboot, then do nothing (just sit at the Android logo it shows), and rebooting manually also doesn't start the process. I even exchanged the tablet and the problem continues.
So before I delve into the source code, I thought I'd ask if anyone was actually successful in internal sdcard encryption on JB and up.
I was also thinking of trying to encrypt in rooted ICS and then upgrading while in Android.
Dear fellow TF300 users,
This tablet of mine was holding onto STOCK rom until I couldn't take its lagginess and poor loading of images even when using my company email. So I decided to take on the route to ROOT, UNLOCK, Install new custom ROMs...
My tablet AsusTF300TL has been successfully UNLOCKED, Root and even installed a new ROM (KatKISS 4.4.4) . Its recovery was TEAMWIN - TWRP. The tablet even had its encryption data (due to my company email policy.)
Even with all this, it still behaved very sloppy, laggy. I really cherish this piece of IT equipment. Untill I downloaded the recent OUTLOOK Preview App and the app asked me to perform encryption again. This went hay wired as the encryption wasn't succesful and I had to enter into recovery mode. Best of all, I backup my ROM only in my SD Card but in recovery mode, it couldnt restore successfully. I can't copy the backup file from SD card to Storage.
So I took some advise from the forum here to unbrick my tablet. It was successful, and I tried it again with Outlook Preview app. This time I was on stock ROM and still encrypton had issues. Interrupted halfway, going into TWRP recovery... and use the same UNBRICK method all over again.
I believe now, my tablet is on Stock rom, and nor ROOTed and I reckon I will need to reinstall back TWRP recovery. Definitely, for sure it is UNLOCKED as I tend to restart the tablet and I do see a short liner, tablet is unlocked..
But with stock rom installed, after being UNbricked, the tablet still behaves very poorly, laggy .
Tried to check on storage details, it is newly formatted, barely 5% of space being used. RAM used always tend to be hovevrying about 65% to 70% usage.
I wish to find out if there's anything else to improve this situation, should I try out new custom ROMs? Further to that, this tablet has been with me for almost 4 yrs, and its ON OFF button has been very insensitiev... it requires a harder force.
Very troubled...
