Hi all.
I have a difficult situation to resolve. I have two identical tablets, Onda V971, both are running Android 4.0.3. I tried to update one of them, but the process failed and it won't start at all anymore. So, is there any way to use/copy the data on the working tablet to the non-working one? Is it something that can be done?

Hi,
I've recently moved to 3.1 and I needed to encrypt my tablet for exchange synching. When moving through the encrypt process, my xoom reboots after 1 minute, but the tablet is still not encrypted. The process is said to take about an hour and appears to work on a stock image (MZ604_HWI69).
Has anyone been able to successfully encrypt their tablet after rooting and moving to 3.1 from stock?
I'm wondering if there is something simple that I need to do to get this working. Any help on this is appreciated.
Thanks!
Hi, I just got the 4g modem installed in my Xoom. I would like to upgrade from honeycomb to ICS. There are many choices/techniques. I tried this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1484770
Got to step 4 and could not do the, "...factory rest within recovery" I can reset all day via Apps-Settings-Privacy-Factory Data Reset. The Android Recovery option starts but seems to lock at the Android dude (exclamation mark on stomach). I would like the unit to perform quickly so I assume rooting is the way to go. I have a sd card installed as well. Please advise. Thanks
Hi guys,
I just bought a new Coby Kyros MID8127 tablet (A8, Android 2.3) for my friend.
Now, I want to flash a custom ROM with JB on it, but I just did not find any ROM, CWM or tutorial for that here at XDA (or elsewhere).
Is it possible, that there is no custom ROM for that tablet to have?
Thank you in advance.
Greetings,
sYCO
I have the same tablet and I bought a custom ROM from the people at KTZ, however, I could not install this ROM successfully, in order to install it I had to take the tablet to factory reset state and then delete a bunch of system applications to make room for the new ROM because the ROM does not allow you to install it from a formatted system partition (it's more like an upgrade). But when I finally installed the ROM it wuold not boot a second time; what that means is that, after installation the ROM boots normally but if I reboot it gets caught in a loop where I just see a blue disk spinning and it doesn't do anything else and the only way to get it out of that loop is to connect the USB cable and boot to recovery via adb and restore the backup that i did before flashing the new ROM. I tried to get help from the guy who makes these ROMs but he wasn't very helpful. I followed all his instructions and always got the same result.
I managed to install manually most of the components of this ROM through a long process of trial and error and left out the components that make the tablet misbehave and now I have a hybrid on my tablet which works pretty well with the exception of the wifi. The wifi works but at times is painfully slow.
I tried other ROMs from Android Tablet forums (check here). There is an ICS Rom there (or more than one, I don't remember) and also a JB ROM for the 8127 but I could not make them work on my tablet. The ICS ROM installed fine and runs very fast but it keeps freezing so I uninstalled. The Jelly Bean did not install properly and it was very hard to get the tablet to a working state after it bricked.
That was a while ago and I haven't checked lately if there is something else out there.

Sorry, I gave that tablet back and cannot test it anymore. I rather recommend to buy an Ainol Novo 7 Crystal. It is cheaper, better and ****ing fast with a nice custom ROM support like CM 10, CM 10.1, Paranoid 3.0, Crystal-Fuse, ...
Btw, KTZ sucks totally.
Hey guys, been a long time lurker here and just encountered my first issue, so made an account to hopefully get some advice.
I received the note 10.1 8010 (UK) as a gift for Christmas. I was disappointed to see it was running 4.0, when devices like the Nexus 7 are already on 4.2. And Germany had the 4.1 update for over a month. Samsung as always refuse to give a solid answer.
I followed a guide to install the German 4.1.1 update. I first installed the German version of ICS via Odin. I then applied the update.zip from here:

Prior to this, I rooted the device, but I believe the above process removed the root anyway.
After my device rebooted, the S Pen isn't working at all. It recognises when I take the pen out, but I cannot use it. It doesn't do a thing. I've read about 1,000 forum threads and cannot find an answer, as to how I can get it working again.
I tried deleting cache and user data, then reapplying the update.zip to no avail.
When I boot up in to recovery mode, it does come up with a message about CSC and then the little drop falls over and I have the usual options.
Any idea what I need to do, to get my S Pen working again? Or what I've done wrong?
Many thanks
This is how I rooted the device.

I have a feeling this is the "root" of the issue. I'm not sure how to remove it.
I know previously I wasn't able to change my CSC via CSC switcher, but I am now.
So I guess installing the German ICS and then update.zip, hasn't completely undone whatever rooting it above did.
Removed the custom recovery and the pen started working again. At this point I was back on ICS, trying to see whether JB was the issue.
Now update.zip will not apply, despite the fact I'm on the German ICS stock. I get an error status 7 in package.zip.
This is the worst experience I've ever had, with any device in my life.
If this wasn't a present I'd have smashed it in to tiny pieces. I will never buy a non Nexus device ever again.
I know this may seem trivial, but when I'm running 4.2 on all other devices, I don't want to be stuck on 4.0 with my brand new tablet.
Samsung have really put me off ever buying their devices in the future.

This a pretty bummer situation. Sorry you're dealing with it.
I find this interesting, as I followed the exact same procedure to root as you. I haven't experienced any pen issues though.
Could it be the 4.1 you flashed?
This is one of my fears too, so I really hope this can be solved.
I finally managed it.
I downloaded a different German ICS from a different guide and this time it worked no problems.
The one that worked, had a file name: N8010XXALI3_N8010OXAALI3_DBT
Update.zip worked first time after I installed the above ICS.
Hope that helps.
I have an old Zeki TB782B FID:BN 7" tablet that I haven't used for a while. My son recently decided he wanted a cheap tablet, so I thought I'd give him this one. (Before I set the Zeki aside for a new Samsung Tab S 8.4, it was working fine, but it was just too slow for my liking.) I plugged the Zeki up to charge, and after a while, I turned it on. It displayed the ZEKI splash screen then the ANDROID screen, but after several minutes it got no further. I tried several things, but eventually, it wouldn't even get past the ZEKI splash screen. Then I tried to reset the tablet to the factory settings, but that didn't help.
I searched several places, including the xda Developers Forum, and I found several threads on flashing the tablet. So I tried to update the system (which would have now been at Android 4.0.3 if the factory reset had worked) to Android 4.0.4 using a microSD card - The 4.0.4 update seemed to work, but after resetting the tablet, it still refused to get past the ZEKI splash screen.
One of the threads in the forum on this site (How to Flash Zeki TB782B, TB1082B Rom with Livesuit) gave instructions on flashing a new ROM using Live Suite (and another one that used Phoenix Suit). I downloaded and installed both of these ROM flash programs, but I cannot find the stock (or a custom) ROM for this particular model. One xda thread contained links to ROMs for various Zeki's, including my model, but none of the links work - They say that the ROM files have been deleted.
I also looked on the Zeki web site for help, but they don't provide anything about their firmware.
I did find image files for "Allwinner A10 Stock Firmware" and for "A721 Mainboard Firmware Version 4.2.0" on another site - Each of these contain an img file that might be what I need, but I'm not sure if they would work with this tablet - The Zeki TB782B uses an Allwinner A10 chip, but I'm not sure what the actual chipset is. And I have opened the tablet and looked at the motherboard, but other than verifying the CPU chip, I'm unable to see much more. Therefore, I'm afraid I would brick the tablet if I flash it with one of those generic Allwinner ROMs.
If anyone has, or can point me to, a stock/custom ROM that will work with this tablet, I would greatly appreciate it.
