Thunderbolt died - Thunderbolt General

Got my replacement today which is going back tomorrow because its a poorly refurbished unit. The phone just died and would not power on anymore. I tried several batteries and same result no power. This is gonna be thunderbolt #4 im recieving tomorrow. Im losing faith in them and will be picking up a droid charge when it drops.

GPS and reception issues...I had that recently. Network network network.

GPS issues have nothing to do with the network, it's one way communication from GPS satellite to phone...It's a pretty widespread Thunderbolt issue though. The only problem I've had with it is an excessively long GPS lock time.
I think the TB is a great device, but the GPS issues are most likely HTC's fault, antenna design issue.

True, but if he has location check marked to use VZW then that would be the issue affecting the GPS.

I guess I am not sure what GPS issue you are referring to. If a user goes into maps or navigation with GPS enabled, it is purely searching for a GPS lock via satellite signals, whether the VZW box is checked or not. Verizon's network location, and a GPS lock are completely separate and unrelated.
The fact that the GPS status and toolbox fixes these issues is more proof of that.

Good luck with that man... I work at VZW store and we have several Charges here and I can in all honesty say that it is a giant piece of ****. It's a fascinate with a bigger screen and that's it. Still has RFS which is crap and the phone lags like molasses uphill on a cold winter day.
I personally would sooner get stuck with a phone that I have to replace a couple of times to get a decent one then get stuck with a "perfect" one of those for two years.
Sorry to hear about your bad luck though, how did you happen to go through so many TBolts?

Interesting opinion on the Charge...I know that personally I feel the phone just looks ridiculous, with the pointy bottom. And it's expensive. Might as well wait until a decent dual core device comes out.

Look at above post.
By poorly refurbed i mean the power button is sunk in. I have to press it hard. The bottom has scratches and so does the screen. It had loose screws i personally tightened up and a battery pin was bent. Like new my ass. I complained my ass off with verizon and they sent me a newone. I told them if its refurbed i don't want it. and I would be canceling Verizon due to its crappy network. I had t Mobile for five years not a single dropped call

What's the date code and first four and last four digits of your IMEI code? I just got my third replacement and it's another in the range of those with random shutdown issue.
I can't believe AT$T is sending out refurbs within the affected IMEI range as replacements for those with random shutdowns.

Apparently not, as the first 2 still had random shutdowns and worse than my original phone. So far, the third one has not shutdown, but I've only had it a day.
At least the GPS works.
Ya they're lots of hardware issues with different cappys. Think I read somewhere that 3 different plants were involved in making them so somewhere good and some not so good. As for me, my gps worked on stock and most custom roms

Well I bought my Cappy about 2 months ago and my gps has yet to function properly. I even flashed 2.2 froyo UCJI6 a month ago and nothing changed. I had to flash back to 2.1 stock to get the official 2.2 KB1 update thinking that the gps would possibly work but it still takes forever to get a gps lock. I just about given up on my cap. Im do for an upgrade next month and I'm still clueless as to which route to go. Motorola Atrix or Infuse 4g but I'm thinking the Samsung will just be the same problems. Maybe I'll just wait to see what new 4g phones at&t comes out with.

I lied. Since I knew they wouldn't touch my phone sure to gps, I used the "random reboot" excuse. My old phone was a 1007. Karma bit me.
My first replacement in sunday would not get a lock. I left it plugged in for half an hour on the patio. Never got a lock. It kept reconnecting. Called att that day, call from hell, but got a replacement sent out. Waited more then 24 before concluding it works.

Tbolt creak/click

Does anyone elses tbolt click a little when pushing on the sides of the phone, the edge around the screen? Mine clicks and creaks like its sticking to glue or something but not staying stuck... should i exchange it?
Do you have the extended battery?
no phones stock i just got it yesterday, hasnt been droped bumped anything, and it creaks if i press down on the screen when its laying flat on a desk.
Mine does that right around the volume rocker. I'm not worrying about that or the slight light leak from the bottom. It's not rebooting itself, so I'll see how it goes.
Yes, exchange it!! I just went through that with one. Sometimes it wouldn't do it, like when it was hot and when I tried to replicate the issue in the store I couldn't so they wouldn't give me a new one. Finally I put it back in the box for a day and it started popping again. It was like the screen was loose or something.

My Thunderbolt only creaked when I bought the extended case. Exchanged it for another one and it stopped creaking. Three days later it was creaking again. If I put my regular case back on, no creaking! I've learned to put up with it.

Wouldn't hurt to show it to them. My thing is just that there seem to be a lot of phones with rebooting issues that I don't think they are exchanging, asking customers to wait for the update that is supposed to fix it...

Maybe make sure your battery cover is properly on all the way around. HTC really could make better battery covers.

Tmobile has set me free

Came from sensation. Screen resoultion, size is amazing. But I must say color on LG g2x is way better even though mine have light leak problem. I don't mind.
I hope u get the good one. Sensation have 2 types of screen. One is good one is washed out. And I hope yours doesn't have dusts under the screen. Oh and I hope the you get the good digiziter too. Lots of sensation comes with touch screen problem. Like being unresponsive. Oh and don't break the phone digitizer. You can't fix it by local shop cause after you fix it the digitizer becomes unreponsive ffor 15 sec everytime you turn on the screen. Yes, I'm a troll. Trololololololol

Quoted for truth
1st G2X would freeze charging and reboot all the time in my pocket.
2nd G2X would freeze charging also and I'd find it black screened in my pocket every few days.
3rd G2X would reboot and have issues switching from data to wifi. It would show both but default to mobile data which has the worst signal at home.
Went through 3 batteries also.
I use my phone as a HTPC remote and alarm clock so these issues were pretty annoying. CM7 fixed most issues but there was still the APN issue. Looks like it's fixed now but oh well, the Sensation has been great thus far.
Based on what I've seen LG's QA process is utter ****.

So recently i have been getting the static noise(yes i know its been talked about many of times) on my phone on about every other call. I had already had one charge replaced due to the static noise. Since i was getting close to my warranty expiring plus i really couldn't handle the static noise anymore, i decided to give verizon a call. I had only one expectation, to get a charge refurb replacement. What actually happened............they gave me a nexus as a replacement. Yup you read that right!!!! I told her i liked samsung, especially the nexus, she talked to manager and boom i jumped for joy!

Did you have to pay for your Razr? I've been getting the static squeal about 40% of the time.
They offered me the Razr, but as an upgrade only w/a 2 year extension. I told them to stuff it.
Should I call customer retention?
I am sick of crappy phones. (2 LG Revolutions that bricked themselves while charging overnight, refurb charge that had a self destruction of the micro USB port, and now the charge that thinks it's a fax machine.).
The rep admitted it's a known issue with the Charge.
Would I fare better in a store? If so that means I have to go back to stock FP1, & get rid of Tweaked 2.1 which is running fine.
I want to get this done before the 28th, so I don't lose my unlimited data.

Touchscreen issues.

Hello xda. Let me get straight to the point. My mom, step sister, brother and cousin all have the EVO shift. My cousin is on his 6th. My bros on his 3rd. Sisters on her 3rd and now my mom is getting her second. All do to touchscreen malfunction. I attached some pictures of the dead spot on the phone. Not only can I not touch there but sometimes when the phones just sitting there it'll touch random spots. Is there a fix to this? Maybe running an RUU?

I've had the same problem in the same spot since I got my phone. Sprint and Wirefly screwed me out of insurance... So I just work around it by rotating the screen.
Changing the build.prop helps. Change windowsmgr.maxevents to 240. If you're not rooted you are outta luck tho, no update is gonna fix that.

The phones did work good for a while but then after time the touch just starts dying. Almost a total of 12 phones have had the same problem. Although phone with keyboards tend to malfunction more than bar phones.

Yeah that is usually the flex cable but mine had a small dead line across the screen and progressively got worse. My wife's does too but hers happened after getting dropped in a drink lol. I'll just say I have done a lot with Android and I can't fix this problem, it is a hardware issue, no software will fix it.
That's what had happened to a few of the shifts. The cable started to crease and that shorted the screen to a point where it was unusable.

It's defiantly a Hardware issue. Usually the Flex Cable. I've had them bought to me for repair acting just like yours. Usually end up replacing the Digitizer also. Because people tend to bang on the Screen harder, thinking that that will make it work. Which does nothing but cause more damage. If you have TEP, take it in. Just make sure to RUU before you take it in.

It is not a setting, it is an app. Search "touch screen test" on Play Store.

After the third time for the same issue you can request a NEW one. They may not be to happy to oblige, but if you stay on them they should do it. Also after the third time for the same issue, you can request a different device. It would be without a penalty. Meaning you should not have to use your Upgrade.
Either im really lucky or really careful, because nothing has gone bad on my shift except the battery. And that's after two years.

Yeah I'd like to buy one from there, but the thing is how reliable their reports of the phone state is :silly:
Maybe I'm just paranoid but if the person selling doesnt say what all the little problems are, then those could turn into bigger problems for me
At least with Sprint theres the guarantee that I can always pull the unhappy paying customer card

If I don't get the note two I'm getting the gs3. My friend had it and I've used it but only for a minute. He's reall protective about his phone. So I haven't really used it but I know its a beast. Not getting an iPhone ever. Haha. Or maybe..just maybe another HTC. I don't want to but the one x looks preety awesome. Maybe even the EVO 4glte? I don't know. Well ill see in 30 days . And happy new year everyone!!!!

Another quesiton,
So wait, to fix this problem do you need to buy the digitizer or flex cable? or both? because i have the exact same issue right on that same spot.
