So recently i have been getting the static noise(yes i know its been talked about many of times) on my phone on about every other call. I had already had one charge replaced due to the static noise. Since i was getting close to my warranty expiring plus i really couldn't handle the static noise anymore, i decided to give verizon a call. I had only one expectation, to get a charge refurb replacement. What actually happened............they gave me a nexus as a replacement. Yup you read that right!!!! Didnt count as my upgrade, didn't have to pay anything, simple as that!! Its a refurb nexus but still!!!
So i should receive it by friday. I just really want to thank all the devs out there that bring goodness to the charge. Tweakstock is so freaking amazing as well as the ics theme!! You guys rock!!! For now farewell and i might even see some of you guys on the nexus side
Wow... how can i get that crackling noise on my charge?

You dont want that crackling noise!!!! **** is annoying. I seriously just lucked out. I was really nice, explained what i tried to tech 1 support, told them it wasnt going away and just kept chatting with them. I just mentioned i was scared i would get another charge with the same issue and then be stuck since my warranty was running out. Tech support said she can look at other equivalent models. I told her i liked samsung, especially the nexus, she talked to manager and boom i jumped for joy!
Just tell them you have it....trust me the know of the problem.

Gratz. Hopefully, everyone doesn't start trying this to get a free replacement.
I actually just got off the phone with verizon today with the same problem. They have me a razr as a replacement device. I retired to get a maxx even offered today some for it but no go. However I'll be being my new razr in tomorrow so no more charge. It was fun while it lasted. Verizon is well aware if this static problem, and of the data drops

Never had static issues. Also no data drop issues since EP4/FP1 updates. That's pretty cool that they gave you a nexus as a replacement, but it is 6 months old already, and the SGS3 has been announced, so it's not that surprising. I suppose if you catch the right manager on the right day...

Did you have to pay for your Razr? I've been getting the static squeal about 40% of the time.
They offered me the Razr, but as an upgrade only w/a 2 year extension. I told them to stuff it.
Should I call customer retention?
I am sick of crappy phones. (2 LG Revolutions that bricked themselves while charging overnight, refurb charge that had a self destruction of the micro USB port, and now the charge that thinks it's a fax machine.).
The rep admitted it's a known issue with the Charge.
Would I fare better in a store? If so that means I have to go back to stock FP1, & get rid of Tweaked 2.1 which is running fine.
I want to get this done before the 28th, so I don't lose my unlimited data.

I called back and the new rep was able to send a CLN Rezound as a replacement. They were out of the standard back, so he upgraded it to the extended battery and back. No headphones however.
So I guess I'll be saying goodbye to you all soon.
The charge was a phone with a lot of promise, but too many problems. Next step, to get my GF off the Stratosphere (which has a worse static/noise problem than us.).

Glad it worked, it was a replacement no upgrade. Though I powdered to paya little for the maxx. Actually though they sent me a bionic instead with no battery or back even though they promised a razr. Called back rep was no help, said out was closer to the charge.so I went to the store to get the back and was trying to an extended battery at least. Instead the manager surprised me by coming our and saying he ordered me the razr! Hope its right this time,i need better signal for work

Probably just depends on who you speak to. I was in a corporate store yesterday and they told me they would not exchange it outside of the return window, and that I would have to wait for one in the mail. They had it in stock and everything, just wouldn't do it.
Same story. But the good news is when talking to them on the phone they said since the phone is only 3 weeks old that there are no refurbs yet just new factory replacement new phone just no box and battery and mem card. I'll wait till Monday and post if its new or and obvious shi**y refurb.

Well not that it matters as I'm pretty sure that this thread is dead, but I received my replacement today. The phone is in great shape no speakerphone issue, no dead pixels, all buttons are perfect. So anyone that has to get a CLN device don't panic it may be better than out of the box.

I was going to say the phone has only been out like what 3 weeks, even if it was refurbished I'm sure it wouldn't be beat to death.
I'd be willing to bet my own TBolt that you will not receive a refurbished device. It will be just the handset. No battery, SDcard, etc. I have never seen a refurbished phone actually be refurbished. They purchase devices w/o the packaging and included accessories from manufacturer's. If you choose to purchase a refurb, then you get sent an actual refurb but replacements are new 99.9% of the time. My fiancee was just outside our 14 days and needed her incredible replaced. They sent a brand new "refurb" and offered me $100 off my bill since technically I paid for a new device and received a "refurbished" unit. So basically she got a new dinc for free. Not to mention the TB is so new they wouldn't even have refurbs yet. Don't get upset till you get the device, I guarantee you will be happy with it.
BTW, for those arguing over the return policy. They will refer you to a repair center for an exchange. If your in your 14 day period however, you hold the power to either get an exchange or cancel out right so they will usually do the exchange rather than risk you getting pissed and returning the phone and canceling your contract. They'll make it as if their doing you a favor but in reality you are in charge during the first 14 days.

Yes it came without a battery cover later that night though the plastic rubber piece at the bottom of the screen popped out lol. GPS issues have nothing to do with the network, it's one way communication from GPS satellite to phone...It's a pretty widespread Thunderbolt issue though. The only problem I've had with it is an excessively long GPS lock time.
I think the TB is a great device, but the GPS issues are most likely HTC's fault, antenna design issue.

True, but if he has location check marked to use VZW then that would be the issue affecting the GPS.

I guess I am not sure what GPS issue you are referring to. If a user goes into maps or navigation with GPS enabled, it is purely searching for a GPS lock via satellite signals, whether the VZW box is checked or not. Verizon's network location, and a GPS lock are completely separate and unrelated.
The fact that the GPS status and toolbox fixes these issues is more proof of that.

Good luck with that man... I work at VZW store and we have several Charges here and I can in all honesty say that it is a giant piece of ****. It's a fascinate with a bigger screen and that's it. Still has RFS which is crap and the phone lags like molasses uphill on a cold winter day.
I personally would sooner get stuck with a phone that I have to replace a couple of times to get a decent one then get stuck with a "perfect" one of those for two years.
Sorry to hear about your bad luck though, how did you happen to go through so many TBolts?

By poorly refurbed i mean the power button is sunk in. I have to press it hard. The bottom has scratches and so does the screen. It had loose screws i personally tightened up and a battery pin was bent. Like new my ass. I complained my ass off with verizon and they sent me a newone. Hi Guys...
I have a Thunderbolt now (rooted) that waqs giving me problems I was going from 4g to 3g to 1x and then I wasn't getting any data at all. This started last night....I figured I would wait because it was a network problem
This morning the same thing was happening....I called VZ tech support and they told me before they send me a new phone...I have to go to a VZ store and get a new sim card. I unrooted my phone and went to the store. I got a new sim card and that didn' help. I called back tech support and they said they will send me a new Thunderbolt. I have a family plan and I have 4 phones on my plan (mine is the only smartphone) I asked if I can get a CHARGE...after some back n forth chat...he told me that they will send me a NEW Charge...and also a belt clip and screen protector for no charge....
I love my Thunderbolt...and I know there are pors and cons betwen both phones.....but I really use my Slingbox app alot and I wanted to get the charge because of the screen...so Monday or Tuesday my new charge arrives...
hope I didn't make a mistake not going with the Thunderbolt....thoughts??
I guess I will be in your forums more often now! LOL
I did the same thing. And I'm never looking back. I love my charge. It took about two days to get used to it bc of the plastic feel but now I love it. The phone is much better after the latest update that was pushed out. The web browsing (flash content) used to be my biggest compliant. It was so slow and choppy. But now everything is right where it was at when using my old Thunderbolt. I do suggest rooting and custom Rom' ing it. Particularly the voodoo lag fix.

After the latest update the speed is very close between devices. I don't use Touchwiz, any replacement launcher works better. As mentioned, I do have a custom rom on my Charge. I used to use a custom rom on my Thunderbolt as well. (bamf 1.6) I get much better battery life out of the Charge. About three to four hours more. The browser lag was fixed by the last Verizon update. I would recommend the Charge over the Thunderbolt simply because I have had many fewer problems with the Charge and the battery life and the screen are amazing.
My wife has my old Thunderbolt and she emails me pictures that she takes on her Thunderbolt, so she can view them on my screen.
Hope this helps.

As someone who owns both, I would recommend you stick it out and wait for the magic of an unlocked bootloader and custom ROMs to unlock the full potential of this phone and its dual-core CPU.
Compared to my Inspire, the battery life, lighter weight, better call quality, better antenna, and what seems to be crisper screen make my move from one to the other worth it.
I came from an Inspire, don't trade for it.... I love HTC phones, but I had a ton of oddities, with it.
There are a ton of things that can be done with out an unlocked bootloader, even ROMs, this phone has only been out a little over 60 days, hang tight there will be a ton of great things for this phone.
If you must trade for a mid line phone think about a used sgs, or an Infuse. If you really want a TOP end then go for an unlocked galaxy nexus.
Otherwise hang tight, and use bloat freezer, for the bloat on this phone, it is not bad for a stock build. If you don't like Blur, go get ADW launcher or Go Launcher Pro, or something like that.

I had the Inspire. Except for the crappy battery life, it was a decent phone.

Have you tried a battery pull? Sometimes it works.

they may offer you another atrix 2. i wouldnt hesitate to do it if they dont give you a different phone. lemons do happen although very rare but it does happen.

Unless you got your phone online or over the phone, they aren't going to send you another phone, let alone an upgrade. If you got the Atrix 2 from a store, you're going to have to take it back to the store. If you've had the phone for more than a month, they will tell you to call warranty exchange to get a refurbished replacement, but not before spending copious amounts of time troubleshooting first. If you have been with AT&T for a long time, without any shutoffs, or a late payment history, you can try the "I'll cancel my service" routine, which usually doesn't work, because you will still have pay an ETF. Basically, they own you until your contract expires. It sucks, but that's how AT&T rolls.

Got the phone a year ago for free from my mom cause VZW messed up her insurance and she got the Thunderbolt for no extra charge.
Charging port started to get really weak and you had to jiggle it around. Well, it completely got smashed in about 2 months ago. Dad has the same phone so he would charge my batteries whenever I was in town, but I usually just used a flip phone for calls and texts and my wife's old Captivate when wifi was around.
Dad offered to get me the Galaxy Nexus a few days ago before Verizon screws around with unlimited data.
I'm gonna miss you :crying:
Cool story bro.
Pre order the s3 and just get that... It's better than GNexus

My dad wanted to do that for me but we would have had to pay for it in full first and neither of us have that kind of money right now. I got just got lucky that we were able to charge it to the bill

I joke about this with her but my wife killed my TV with her excessive QVC and HSN watching. Upside is that she now has to watch them on her crappy 19" Coby TV. Lol

I went to check on that. 16gb is $199. 32gb is $249. I'd have to get in today and use my wife's upgrade for myself. It's tempting, though I may just stay with the Bolt for now and buy something used later, avoiding the new contract.

Read the CNET review first. A dim screen is the most unacceptable flaw a smart phone can have imo.

I will agree with you. It's all in what Rom you use and how you set it up. If you let everything run like gps and auto sync, the battery will die quickly on any phone, its a given. Sync when you need too and use gps when you need it. Dim the screen when you can and don't overclock a ridiculous amount and you can easily get a day out of it. I haven't had any issue with my tbolt. My .02
You guys are lucky. I keep my screen dimmed, GPS and sync off, underclocked kernel, stick on 3g...
Generally when I leave the house to catch the bus, I'm at 100%. By time I get to work two hours later... 50%.
Granted the phone gets a lot of use during that time. But compared to my droid, droid 2 and even my old blackberry curve... The battery is atrocious.
Granted if I put it in airplane mode it can last a long, long time.
I love this phone... But the battery blows.

why i buy S3 with no built in kickstand and lol 1 flash camera
how many apps and game will compatible with ICS? ooohh..jellybean soon will launched
look at g-shop, mostly app/game min req was 2.2 aka froyo
most recent reason i stay with tbz only by their unique kickstand shape and dual flash camera( looking good and built in crucial hardware) lol
friend just got thhe SIII and loves it!
