leaked Tbolt rom update - Thunderbolt General

this may be old news, but according to a pocketnow article posted this morning, the recent Tbolt rom update has been leaked
Today, what looks to be the official ROM update for the Verizon Thunderbolt has been leaked. The name of the file is: PG05IMG_Mecha_VERIZON_WWE_1.13.605.7_Radio_1.16.00.0402w_1_NV_8k_1.41_9k_1.64_release _182746_signed. This should say something to aficionados but we'll help: the version numbers match those from the Verizon document. Opposed to the Radio previously leaked, version 1.16.00.0402w, the new ROM version numbers are 1.16.00.0402w_1 (and 182727 vs 182746).

Well, hopefully it's indeed a different update. Maybe they actually read this forum and realized the update they were going to put out was a piece of **** and didn't fix anything. We'll see though...

Bad reporting.
Bad.
Both packages are the same, deep down. In fact, the latest leak is a little older, but the actual internal images are the same for system/kernel/recovery/hboot/radios.

[Discussion] Estimated Official Release of JI6?

As most of you already know, thanks to our wonderful member designgears and an anonymous source we have been the first to recieve the leaked JI6 build of FROYO 2.2 for our Captivates. THANK YOU!
Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=797282
What are everyone's thoughts now that we have knowledge and proof that it really does exist; when do you think that an OFFICIAL release will be available to flash via KIES MINI or OTA?
I wet my pants! We are the first for official froyo

When I saw the post from my phone, I ran to my car, sped across the city and sat down in front of the computer reading every post while the download was in progress.
At the moment My phone is being flashed to 2.2!
EDIT: I'M ON 2.2 NOW! Haha

that's our addiction of flashing files
Typically, I like to remain stock.
This appears to be stock to me, I'm quite sure we will still receive OTA updates on this ROM.
Hopefully an official release is out in the next few days; for now I'm more than pleased with the work that designgears and the rest of the community here at XDA have put together in only a few hours!
Probably in the next week fews, maybe mid-October to end of October, if we're going along how JH7 was officially released and when it was leaked.
Edit: Apparently Jh7 was leaked maybe a week before the actual OTA so maybe sooner than I thought. But the i9000 Froyo isn't supposed to be out until end of October? who knows
Maybe they can make a vanilla froyo for the Captivate now also. That would be nice to have except for the lack of a swype keyboard.

Don't forget that not all leaks become official OTA updates. We got leaked JH2, JH3, JH7, and THEN an official update to JH7. I expect there will be more leaks before the official.
The i9000 has seen numerous froyo leaks since early August and they still have yet to receive an official update, so I wouldn't get my hopes up for a 2.2 OTA update any time soon.
Still its exciting to finally get a leaked froyo build - can only mean good things are on the way.

I'm quite comfortable on the leaked ROM, would be nice to have an official release obviously haha.
Right now I'm waiting to see what designgears will throw together!

We need the official release in order to get the source code. We need the source to do all kinds of things.
Memory Fix?
Anyone think the official update will open up all the 512mb memory?

Yeah. That's why I'm pretty sure this version will not be released as an official update as it doesn't use all the available ram.
I'm also wondering whether the tethering options that Android Central showed in the leaked build will actually be available in the stock update. I would love to see them, but somehow doubt it with AT&T.
Yeah this current release (JI6) has a lot of positive changes - but it's obvious it isn't ready for official release. It's still in the works as far as I'm concerned. I'm just glad it's stable enough for me to be comfortable with.
My thought is that this is the first go round - sort of a base build that they will build on top of. For one thing it is the One-Click Odin and not just a ROM - so someone packaged it to be a one step restore.
Then there are things like mobile AP and USB tethering that will probably get pulled. Other things like UK spelling and the missing Sync scheduling indicate that they pushed some stuff right from the EU build.
There are also some minor defects that existed in 2.1 that are still there - not being able to click on URLs, emails, phone numbers in the calendar; same GAL integration; GPS issues; etc.
Great start though, and no reason for me to go back to 2.1
Samsung has just announced[1] it has been released over OTA for the Samsung Vibrant. So, the Vibrant now has Froyo available officially.

There was a JI6 for vibrant on SamFirmwares in September - it is 2.1 - So I think this is probably the same version - with some minor changes.
I doubt it is Froyo since there is not even a leaked Froyo for Vibrant.
EDIT - confirmed on Vibrant forum - 2.1

i got it up and running... i feel like my signal and 4g speeds are a little faster so far.. not to mention it seems very zippy even using TW.. im gonna load up launcherpro and this thing will be smooth as butter
There are HEX differences in the LTE modem from EP1F to EP1H. I'd be curious to see if anyone notices any improvements in the 4G characteristics. I know I had a little higher latency and it would take longer to init. 4G when I was on GB.
I've attached a SS showing there are differences.
edit: the cp_modem is different too. Hopefully this causes some of the swithover and dropout issues I saw with GB.
Thanks for this

There's nothing particular in there, it's all HEX, but it just shows that the modem and ltemodem have had some update since the ep1f release. Not sure how it may improve or not the quality of the signal, just an observation. I recall reading that someone said the modem between the first GB leak and EP1F was unchanged.
Does kejar's audio fix from the last leak work to fix the audio issues on this one?

you could give it a shot im sure kejar hasnt even looked at this leak yet..
also i believe there is a significant 4g speed increase for me.. and i usually have full bars at my apt.. after the update i still have full bars but it seems faster.. my signal strength is coming up as -75dBm

What makes you think kejar isn't on my friends list and gets an early preview of leaks long before the public?
He has seen this.
Yes it will work.
few questions
1. will any of the ep1f roms work with this (i am going to guess no but worth a shot)?
2. if no how long do you think it will take for a new rom to be made for it?
and...
3. what happened to G!!!

Thanks P3 and TBH! Always look forward to your leaks.
yeah it seems like every time they start to get stuff figured out, a new leak comes out lol.. i would just give up but i commend all the devs for the work they due cus people can be annoying with all their complaints and stuff.. people dont realize that the devs have jobs, families, etc...

Well, they just need to quit their jobs and leave their families.
But really, thanks, to the devs.
IMO build is still not worth messing with. Not much better then the EP1F build that has been on the float for a bit. I used this build a few weeks ago and went back to Froyo as it still behaves like the original leak.

1st update brought the firmware from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6
2nd update brought new radio w/ better reception and fixes the battery meter sticking issue and bluetooth (can't confirm but so far so good).

If you read around you'll find a couple of explanations. The "official" reason the first update (KK1) was pulled was that it was only for certain phones (based on IMEI number), and was not available to everyone. To me it seemed like it was available to everyone at the time so I speculated that there was an issue with the build.
And I never saw an "official" version for the LA3 being pulled, but many speculated that it was for people who didn't receive the KK1 update.
Personally, I just think AT&T sucks at doing OTA updates and their systems get overloaded with people trying to update. I don't find it a coincidence that on the day the LA3 update came out that there was a massive outage in my area for 1-2 hours. People all over my wife's facebook page (I hate fb, don't use it) were complaining that they couldn't make calls or send messages for a couple hours.
I never had an issue getting the UCLA3 update. Initially, I had an issue when trying to go over the air, but once I was on a wifi, it was working. Don't know if it's coincidence, but that's what I did when it was available.
I'm still waiting anxiously for ICS, but hold no faith that it'll be in a timely manner. I came to the Skyrocket from the Infuze because, well, they never could get a GB official release (and if they did, I missed it because I stopped following it since getting the SR).
Was hoping to stay away from Samsung because of the delay of releases, but it was the best for the money at the time (January this year).

OTA's for Custom ROM's

Okay, first things first: It looks like we will be able to get OTA's on custom ROM's via an OTA center for ROM builders. Apparently all they have to do is add a few lines to the build.prop section and those of us on custom ROM's (shout out to DW for TWEAK) can get updates like everyone else.
Okay, secondly: I just installed the FP5 OTA for my charge and I have NO IDEA what the hell they mean by "update UI"? It looks EXACTLY the same doodoo brown and orange as previously without any cool ICS look to it. This BETTER take care of the call quality issue or I may just switch phones. If this doesn't fix it there is no hope. Check out the FP5 thread and get your update early if your phone hasn't alerted you yet.
Third: I hear that DW is going to start working on TWEAK 2.3 (appartently a Beta is floating around) towards the end of August (middle of next week according to his post.) THANK YOU dude for keeping us all happy with an awesome ROM on PBJ.

thanks for the info... do you have a source for the first part? not that I doubt you, just like to read more about it.

Also, if ROM Manager actually worked we could get OTAs through there.
As it is now, we can get OTAs through Tweaktools.

Let me try to find the source. I came across an article with a link to a page somewhere within XDA. I was surprised to see that they would allow custom developers to allow their downloaded ROM's to be updated over-the-air. It isn't that big a deal since we have ways to get the updates anyway, but I thought it was neat........ if it is true and available.
I'll get back to you on this....................

Here is the Droid Life article about it:
droid-life.com/2012/08/09/ota-update-center-allows-custom-rom-developers-to-push-ota-updates-to-users
Near the bottom of the page you will notice a spot about XDA (Source: XDA), which links to the XDA article. That article gives a bit more detail about it.
I posted the link to the actual OTA Update Center website above. Nothing beats going to the source. The biggest advantage I can see to this is that it should also serve to suppress carrier OTA messages since it essentially replaces that functionality. Tweaked already has an OTA of sorts in TweakTools. One of the Rezound ROM's has been doing it's own OTA's for a while now. I think they're using their own host rather than this one, but the idea is the same. I was running it when the official OTA came out and I never got the notification. Some people on other ROM's did.

erm, Google does that already....
each release has a versioning, date, carrier and hashes to go with them....
there are maybe a handful of releases that don't have a carrier directly listed... So I don't understand why anyone would compile a list....? what purpose would it serve?

I think I know what ur talking about; earlier on with 7.x.x releases there was a few unclear builds, then later the switched how a couple of carriers were grouped... but at the end of the day; old releases don't matter and current ones do... people shouldn't be running older images...
the current ones are labelled clearly and all one has to do is download the correct image for their carrier...
that's my 2 cents ?

out of curiousity; are u having battery issues or something?
ya, I tried the beta / dp2 - went back to the 8.0 Nov build... plus, I couldn't run my kernel on the Dev previews, well not without effort.
