LCD screen bleed fix

I don't have a G2X yet, but I wonder if an owner who has some LCD bleed might want to try this out and report any results.
Screen bleed is a pretty common problem across LCD's. I don't think it's so much of a manufacturing defect as it is due to shifting during transport etc. All that has to happen is a corner of the screen gets too far or too close to the back light behind it. The screens tend to shift around a bit in their casing.
A common fix on regular LCD monitors is to massage the area of the bleed with medium or firm pressure. This can move the screen enough to reduce bleed.
Not sure if this would work on a glass-surface device like the G2X but it's probably worth a shot. Also try massaging with pressure *behind* the phone, not just on the front glass.
Ipad 2 seems to be having some bleed issues as well, and some owners report that slight twisting of the entire device corner-to-corner can re-seat the screen in the proper position and reduce bleed. Be careful with this one, but again, might be worth a shot to apply some twisting pressure.
Not recommending that anyone does this who isn't comfortable and ok with the possible consequences! But... as I live in Canada and want a G2X, it would be a lot easier to know that this sort of thing might fix the bleed than it would be to attempt returning it to the USA or an ebay reseller.
Please keep the "ARE YOU CRAZY?!" replies to a minimum... if you don't want to do it then simply don't do it.

I just tried and I will say that the places that I had it originally did not get fixed or seem to be any dimmer than before which would have been nice... My bleeding is not that bad anyway...
However, the first time i twisted the phone a bit i noticed some more bleeding in the upper left of my phone (portrait directional) before i twisted it back to normal...
Good idea, but i would not recommend anything until we have some concrete evidence of it really working to fix ORIGINAL problems

lol this is not a fix and NEVER was a fix... you cant "massage" a LCD tv.... and a phone is no different gorilla glass or not it will NOT reset the screen.... good attempt at trying to find a solution but the bleeding isnt from the screen being out of place... its from poor manufacturing...
some bleeding is expected with LCD technology ... but not as bad as ive seen on some peoples ..... let alone on a 4" screen... but w/e if you have full brightness and are in a dark room then you must be blind.....

I wouldn't do it because you have to disassemble and it may void the warranty; in addition, you may break the LCD if you apply too much force.
If the bleeding/backlight leak is bad, just send it back and exchange.

Yes, you can. I fixed all bleed from my Acer 26" lcd by doing exactly this. I could see and feel the panel noticeably creaking back as I did it.

I've done the same, actually.

It made it a lot worse on mine. Good, though, as I plan to exchange it.

well i never herd of "massaging" a tv to fix it but i wouldnt do it to my 52" samsung cuz the manual states DO NOT PUSH FIRMLY ON SCREEN WHEN CLEANING so i dunno how it would work without taking it apart and "pushing the screen" back to the right spot...
let alone i got a 3 year warranty from best buy on it.. and if i crack it open AT ALL it voids so no thanks if anyone does this and it works on a phone i will be awed....
AND you shouldnt have to push the screen on ANYTHING to fix it... it should come correctly assembled in the first place....

I tried the massage but it doesn't work. I have very bad light bleeding from the top corners, and if I squeeze hard enough on top and bottom of the phone, it's a little better, but as I release my hands, everything goes back to normal, very bad looking darks colors. I'm exchanging it.

When my LCD screen started bleeding, I just put a bandaid on it

I have heard of this a lot. Massaging the LCD. I too am looking to fix a laptop screen. I heard before to massage the back of it, what side did you do? No one here who was successful mentioned if they did it to the front or back so I figured I'll do as you did? Thanks any help much appreciated!

My iPhone 5 is bleeding, pushed on it gently and it only made the black blotch spread. I don't recommend this

Well, the more posts I see around, the less optimistic I am about seeing Asus fix the light bleed issues with the TF. For some reason, this is the only issue that is bothering me enough to consider returning it. If it wasn't for that, I would be a 95% satisfied customer.
Anyways, instead of waiting for answers, I figured I'd look for alternative methods of fixing the light bleed. I came across this post:

Do you think it's possible. First we need to know what exactly causes this light bleed to be able to address it. It could be simpler than we thought.
Have you guys tried this? Any other recommendations?

From everything I've seen on the internet, I just think light bleed is problem of the technology, its what happens when you have a screen that is using a side lit LED screen vs a back lit LED screen. (Ipad2, Transformer, and multitude of LED Tv's). Its the drawback of having the thinnest screen that everyone is wanting.

I'm not so sure, mine didn't have bleed at all until after I'd had it a couple of days, it just appeared. I'd handled it with kids gloves. I'm wondered if the light bleed may be caused by the case distorting a bit due to internal heat and or the fact that the housing isn't particularly strong?

If you carefully put pressure on the bezel you will notice that the light bleed is changing. It seems to be a dynamic process so your observation doesn't mean you "abused" the tablet. It's just the problem with having a flexible material (plastic) as case.

That means that it must be related to some pressure on those spots where the light bleed is originating from. Perhaps there is a way to relieve it some?!

I have no idea if the following is true but I think I remember the light bleed is caused by insufficient sealing. So if you morph the case it might lift the seal more. To find the right spots to fix this is very difficult IMHO (acupressure ).

Flex your TF or press on areas of the bezel and you will affect the light bleed.
There is no way to fix without disassembling it and having right tech to reassemble in a way that is perfectly even.

You see, an LCD panel needs this thing called a 'backlight', that shines through the liquid crystal layer. It's filtered by the liquid crystals to produce different colors.
Well, sometimes this backlight can 'bleed' around the edges of the LCD because it's not sealed up properly.
The 'fix' for this on a device like a Transformer would require disassembly and reassembly to better seal the edges of the screen.
The best solution any of us will be able to get will be to RMA our units and hope the replacements are a little better built. Personally, the bleed doesn't bother me much at all, so I'm not going to bother.

Could ASUS not ad a this metal support border to the screen, to counteract some of the flexibility in the chassis? EK follows the same principal with their waterblocks (allbeit for different reasons)

Maybe ASUS could fix it by adding some felt around the glass before assembling it, let it act as a washer.

how about some ducktape ... that fixes everything.

To be annoyed at the fact I have a small very light scratch on my screen? its only at a certain angle but it bothers me to know that its there, especially the fact I always take care of my phone and haven't dropped it once and I never put it in the same pocket as my keys. -_-. I'm tempted to do an exchange just to have a clean screen.

It's not silly, I did the same...I also had FW issues so was gonna get a replacement but the scratch also bugged the hell out of me!

I have a very small scratch that can only be seen in bright light from a certain angle. It bugs the hell out of me too.
But, I have a buttload (yes, a buttload) of dust under my screen, so I was thinking of getting it exchanged because of that.

[Q] Light bleeding through white plastic

Hi, I had my note for about a week and a half and I noticed a lot of light bleeding through the plastic around the screen. Is this normal or should I be worried? Thank, RandomAwesomeGuy.

I never had any light bleed on my Note. I got it for two weeks now and everything seems fine. Maybe try to contact Samsung support or anything. As I've read around here, light bleeds are pretty unusual with Samsung's builds.

I have the same problem. Not really sure about it but i can't return mine until I fill out the warrenty card, it doesn't really bother meq though.

There are reports of light bleed in notes unfortunately most of the tablet suffer from this if its new tablet just get it replaced. Though light bleed is not a sign of hardware failiure but note not put together properly

It is pretty bad, there is a lot of blotches on the screen and the plastic rim is bleeding light. Like I said, the tablet is about 1 and a half weeks old, and I still have the plastic protection around the sides and back . Does any one know if Bestbuy will exchange it?

LCD Color Bleed. Anyone else?

I wanted to wait a couple of days before calling it official, but it seems like my screen is suffering from color bleed. If you look at the attached image, you'll easily notice the bleed into the screen from the top edge. I'll be returning it tomorrow and getting a replacement hopefully by end of week. I basically lost out on the cost of the tempered screen protector that I have on the phone. Bummer.
I've had four Z-line phones in the past but never a single issue. I guess there is always first time.

I have the same issue, bleed from the top. Mostly visible on a blue or white background though. Is this a defect or does everyone else experience it as well?

Not refuting but I do not have this issue.
