I am co-owner of a car forum and we are wanting to have an app made to access the forum from an android device. Would like some guidance on who I should talk with about having an app developed.
Thanks in advance.

Tips for rom and app development

Hi, I'm a relatively new user (I have been a part of the community but more of a reader rather then an active voice.) I was hoping for help in finding the necessary resources and educational documents to create Tom's and applications for the android platform. I know this seems like a very "nooby" question and request but I would be very thankful if someone could help me. Thank you in advance.

[Q] Mobile forum help

I love the ablility to download an app specific to the forum or the droid x forum. There is a motorcycle forum that i would love to get a mobile app for but i don't think it exists yet. Is there anyone that can design one for the site? Is is impossibly complex to design, the likes of which a semi computer savy guy could not complete?
Thanks for any imput.
The forum is called yamahafz1oa for anyone that is interested.
So no thoughts on the matter?
Tapatalk can be installed on most forums and the app isn't too expensive for users.

[Q] New to XDA & Android OS

hi everyone, im new to XDA & also new to Android OS. I need someone who knows what they are doing to help me understand XDA & how the rooting process works.
any experienced rooters out there looking for a student??
What device do you have/ what specifically do you want to know about rooting and or xda
Far as learning what XDA is all about, this thread is a good place to start.
Welcome to the XDA community! I'm still relatively new to the Android OS as well, and my knowledge expands greatly by the day here. Really, the best way to learn XDA is to explore it all and read a lot before posting!
XDA is the resource to goto, to find out how to do stuff. However, don't shy away from using Google to familiarize yourself with the jargon used in the Android mod community. It is invaluable to know what rooting, bootloader, recovery, fastboot and adb mean, before attempting to modify your phone/tablet to something better software wise.
I haven't been around too long but I've successfully flashed roms on 3 phones if you need anything pm me. And I've done a little bit more but not much. My most advanced knowledge is making the hello world app with java lol. Good luck to ya and welcome.
The device specific forums are the best place to get rooting info for your phone. You'll find guides and wiki therein.
You might want to watch this guide to learn more about XDA itself:

[Q] HTC Desire S Help!

Hi everybody, i'm new to all of the Android phones and rooting but i have experience in Jailbreaking iPhones so im not new to hacking phones.
I'm getting very confused about a lot of things to be honest, and wonderd if anyone could help me.
What is the point in rooting?
Do i need to take the "S" of my HTC Desire to be able to root it? If so how do i go about this?
Next, is how do i go about rooting my Desire S?
This is all confusing compared to the iPhone, any help/Tutorials will be very appreciated.
Sorry if this has already been posted or if anything similar has been posted.
Please check the forums for your device.
Welcome to XDA. My advice would be to read all the stickies in your devices forum. Android is a lot more complex then the IOS your used to. Root is giving it admin access.
The search plugin us a powerful tool. Do a Google search for Xda search plugin and you will fund it. Sorry am mobile or I would link you.

[Completed] [Q] Symbian modding - remove exclusive hold of media hardware

Hi,
First time here. Heard about XDA over the years.
I have a Nokia N8. I haveSymDVR installed, so I use my phone as a dash cam.
Since the N8 has a FM transmitter, I'd also like to use it to play music via the FM transmitter whilst having SymDVR running (camera recording). Now at the moment it doesn't work because I believe when you record, the camera app get an exclusive lock on the 'media hardware'.
I was looking into modding the phone myself seeing that I didn't find any results of existing work of the above, however, the modding posts I've come across no longer has images in the posts.
Is there already a firmware/patch out there, is there a more appropriate crowd of people that I can ask on XDA?
Any help would be appreciated.
TL;DR: Want to be able to play music and record video at the same time on the Nokia N8 - running Symbian. Is there an existing project or modding group of people I can speak to about this?
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Unfortunately XDA is all about the Android and Windows Phone platforms, but not Symbian, so there isn't really anything we can offer you. I'm sure there are dedicated Symbian modding sites out there that shouldn't be too hard to find.
Good luck!
Thanks for the reply!
I thought XDA had a Symbian section a while back, but when I tried to search yesterday I couldn't find anything.
