Bought an app on market. It didn't install. Now it wants me to buy it again? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought an app on the market and it didn't download all the way for some reason. It just showed the "downloading" animation in the market for a long time but didn't actually do anything. I backed out of the market to check the confirmation email that it sent, and when I went back to the market, it was back to the normal "buy" status. I checked my system to see if it had even downloaded, and nothing. It's not even in "My Apps" in the market.
I clicked the button again and now it wants me to buy it again. I can't even get a refund because it's acting like I never bought it, but on the online market, it says it's been purchased.
So, how do I get it to reinstall (or download, since it never did) without buying it again?

This happened to me before and when I clicked buy again, it did not charge me again.

If the online market says its been purchased can you install it from there? If that won't work I would check you bank account and see if you were charged if not try buying it again. What app was it?

It was the electronic drum sampler in the tablet apps section.
How do I get it to send to my XOOM from the online market? I can't seem to find that option anywhere.

Same thing happened to me with Samurai II. I found it by opening market, going to My Apps and scrolling the left nav (the one that shows all your installed apps) down to the very bottom. There was a section called "Not Installed" and that's where the app was sitting. I clicked on it and then the install button.

This has happened to me twice. Both times I clicked "buy" again. The first time I got two identical receipts with different order numbers. The second time I got a receipt and a second email saying the second transaction was cancelled by the developer but it still let me download the app.
I haven't checked my bank to see if I was double billed either time.

How do I stop software from updating?

I don't normally apply updates all at once, only as needed. Yesterday I managed to "update all" by accident. Oh well, will let it do it's thing. It's still running today and nothing appears to actually be updating. The market shows "updating" with no progress. How do I cancel all of this from trying to do its thing?
I use app brain you can control what gets updated, it's great!
I couldn't get the apps to stop downloading (or trying). The battery was draining as a result. I finally rolled back to a backup that I made in Feb.
Guess it's a mute point now, but you should have been able to go into market, My Apps, then click on the app that was updating and there's an option to cancel.

that didn't work. I could press "cancel" but it would close out the market.

Market Error

Hello XDA
Anyways i have been browsing for the past week about market errors both on this site and searching through google on multiple forums. I have seen plenty of posts as far as market errors when purchasing apps and have tried all options from clearing cache, to reinstalling market apk. I can purchase from a browser and it will download to my tablet but it would be so much better to do it from the market app itself.
I am rooted and the only real tweak that I have done was the lcd density mod to 120. I have changed it back to default and still can not purchase paid apps. I believe I know what the problem is but have no idea how to attack it.
When initially clicking to purchase an app on market (the price) a pop up will happen. There are 2 layers of it. The top layer is the "an error occurred, please try again" window. Below it is the "accept and buy" window which has the permissions. I have no way of choosing the accept and buy option because it is being covered by the top layer. Somewhere in there its probably sending a request to the server with either an option to either decline or it just gets lost in translation. If there was someway to access that bottom layer to hit accept and buy I probably could have my error fix.
The only thing I havent done is restore to factory. Don't really want to go through that as I can still purchase stuff online to push to my device. Its just an inconvenience and this was my "reattempt" to give android a try again. Long time (and still) IOS user but never had this issue. I love the portability of this tab and being able to customize but between this and of course the long wait for ICS, garyd waiting for correct wifi source, etc., it makes it really hard to appreciate the android system.
I actually picked up one of these the other day from BB. (Almost went for the Archos G9 80 4GB from Staples sale, but then remembered... Archos... ugh.. and then noted that even the newer models rotate screen glacially(draws background/bars fast but icons/widgets take forever(literally) to redraw)...)
Anyways to the topic: Did you check your time? I know it's simple, but if it's off it'll make downloads(and other things) fail.
This happened to me OOB and it took me a minute or two to realize what happened(TZ got changed to GMT on me somehow...).

The version 3+ market releases have had stricter control on people changing DPI.
If you've already changed your DPI back to 160 and still can't purchase apps, I suggest wiping market data, uninstalling updates and going through the market setup again.
If that still doesn't work, take a nandroid of your device, wipe and try again. If it works afterwards, then something else you've changed is ****ing with your market setup.

The time didnt impact my device but it is a suggestion I haven't tried so thank you.
Overall guess I am going to have to wipe. I know its such a petty thing but maybe its a blessing in disguise to not buy apps haha

np. The ONLY reason that I know about that one is that I've had several tablets(Viewsonic gTablet, Pandigital Novel, Augen Gentouch 78, Nook Color, etc.) that didn't officially come with google apps(gapps henceforth) and that was one of the pitfalls that people normally ran into. There are also a couple of other workarounds that sometimes had to be done but were more along the lines of getting a functional market and shouldn't apply to devices that come with the complete gapps suite, or at least I haven't had any failures on phones or other "officially" supported(licensed?) devices.
Recovery mode doesnt seem to be an option for me right now. Weird. It wasn't working fine last week when i tried. Volume + UP and power button does absolutely nothing. Volume + Down and power button brings me to a message that says " A Custom OS can cause critical problems..." How do i get into recovery? I also tried using the "quick boot" program to boot directly into recovery mode and nothing happened. You will see the Galaxy Tab Plus screen, reboots, and then shows the galaxy tab plus screen again and then boots as normal.
Thanks everyone for all your advice. I found a firmware file so I just used mobile odin and let it do it for me. Dont Know why it ended up doing it that way but oh well. Its over with.

Market Authorization Message..

I get an error message in the notification window every time I sign into the Play Store after flashing a new rom. It tells me to click the notification to re-sign in. When I click it nothing happens and the only way it goes away is if I hit the close all button in the notification window. Even with the error everything syncs fine and it never comes up again after I close it out. Anyone else seeing this?
I've also noticed something else. After every new rom flash I go to download Titanium Backup. I search for it and when the results come up it shows that I haven't purchased the pro version (which I have). I have to go into settings and force stop the app and then it shows my purchases just fine. I'm thinking maybe that's why the error comes up? This has only started happening recently.

[Q] Rooted TF700T randomly taking screenshots.

(Posted here because I can't post in the developer forum yet. Longtime lurker; first time poster )
I Rooted CleanRom Inheritance 3.4.6-10.4.4.25/US ODEX and about an hour after I got a screen pop-up asking me what prog I wanted to use. I had no idea what was going on in the background to require it. I kept randomly getting them and got pissed so I selected a file manager. Sure enough, there were pics of whatever I had on the screen.
Any ideas what would be causing this?
While it isn't critical it sure is annoying.
Yep I have searched the thread to no avail. Did I miss it?
**Critical info**
I have disabled the "recently used" long press function in the ASUS Customized setting area. I can use the pwr/down vol to take one.
There is nothing on the top of my tablet to cause it by inadvertently pressing the buttons.
It happens randomly regardless of what I am doing and regardless of whether or not I am docked (I have the ASUS OEM dock).
Thanks all,
Lndcrsn
Have you by chance installed any rogue apps? Making intermittent screenshots is a known feature of malware hoping to catch your login details for websites and bank accounts and so on. I'm definitely not saying this is what is going on on your 700, but it might just be the case. Standing in your shoes, I'd wipe completely clean and start over. I do that for my Flashing OCD every once in a while anyway.
Hmm..
It would appear that Lookout had some sort of virus. I DL'd it from Google Play and it immediately popped the "choose application" screen with this:
I found this great free app called Lookout. You should download it for your phone! xxxx://bit.ly/XxXXXx (I deleted the URL info to prevent someone from clicking it)
Went with Avast now.
So...wtf? Is there a virus/bug out there that modifies Lookout?
@Marty
Thx man. I followed your advice and was able to find it that way. When I reDL'd it popped the notification and I used Evernote to figure it out.
Lndcrsn
Well, more info...
It is still happening but, only when docked on the keyboard.
It happens randomly still and, happens when the tab (docked) sits for a while. The "select prog for..." screen pops up and I select evernote to verify.
It wouldn't still happen with a complete wipe and reinstall would it?
Has anyone else had this happen with CR.I.?
hmm...

Talkback notification won't go away

For some reason, the talkback service has decided to tell me it is activated even though it is not. I have a persistent notification that won't go away. Since it's a system service, there is no way to just hide the notification. Any ideas?
Clearing the cache and rebooting didn't help either.
Did you ever figure this out I have the same problem on sprint. You can't even disable the Talkback app.
Nope. I did a factory/hard reset last night. Still the same issue.
I haven't installed any apps I didn't have on my GS5, so it can't be an app's fault. Going to do an exchange at the AT&T store in the next day or two. I'm not getting stuck with something like this.

This would be a workaround (if it does work), but try tapping and holding on the notification, and then click on the "i" icon to see which app is displaying the notification. If it's a stand-alone app (i.e. not the Android system), then you should be able to block notifications for that app.

Thank you, but it is the system app doing it. I'm just going to swap for a different S6 at the store tomorrow. Got my app data backed up to the cloud thanks to Helium.
The messed up part is it literally happened right when I got my phone. I'm gonna try a factory reset then if not try to get it swapped out
@dizzymatt Still have it? It mysteriously disappeared for me today. I was literally going to go to the store this afternoon to exchange this thing. Maybe I got lucky or sensed I was coming!
Afterward, though, the oddest thing happened. I was looking through the store for a different Google product and came across this one called Google talkback. I thought that was very weird to find right after I had had this issue. When I clicked on it, it allowed me to uninstall it. Never saw it in my apps list or the application manager, but there it was. Again, this is after the notification went away from me so I have no idea if this is related.
Here is the link. Maybe uninstalling it will help you.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.marvin.talkback
Seen what you said and I didn't have the app installed but it just disappeared for me too after I rebooted my phone I wonder what it was.

Now I'm wondering if it was related to Google Now since the notification and the ability to say "Ok, Google from any screen went away about the same time.
Disabling Talk back
I got stuck on a 15 minute hell ride when I accidentally turned on my Talkback feature on my new S6. I couldn't turn it off even after toggling the stupid settings. I finally was able to turn it off by tapping the home screen button three times.. apparently that is the On/Off switch for the accessibility features. After it finally stopped talking back to me I went in to manually toggle the off button on that ridiculous feature.
Same problem / solved ?
I had same problem with notification
Decided I would try enable, so that I could then disable
Seems to have done the job
