Hello XDA
Anyways i have been browsing for the past week about market errors both on this site and searching through google on multiple forums. I have seen plenty of posts as far as market errors when purchasing apps and have tried all options from clearing cache, to reinstalling market apk. I can purchase from a browser and it will download to my tablet but it would be so much better to do it from the market app itself.
I am rooted and the only real tweak that I have done was the lcd density mod to 120. I have changed it back to default and still can not purchase paid apps. I believe I know what the problem is but have no idea how to attack it.
When initially clicking to purchase an app on market (the price) a pop up will happen. There are 2 layers of it. The top layer is the "an error occurred, please try again" window. Below it is the "accept and buy" window which has the permissions. I have no way of choosing the accept and buy option because it is being covered by the top layer. Somewhere in there its probably sending a request to the server with either an option to either decline or it just gets lost in translation. If there was someway to access that bottom layer to hit accept and buy I probably could have my error fix.
The only thing I havent done is restore to factory. Don't really want to go through that as I can still purchase stuff online to push to my device. Its just an inconvenience and this was my "reattempt" to give android a try again. Long time (and still) IOS user but never had this issue. I love the portability of this tab and being able to customize but between this and of course the long wait for ICS, garyd waiting for correct wifi source, etc., it makes it really hard to appreciate the android system.
I actually picked up one of these the other day from BB. (Almost went for the Archos G9 80 4GB from Staples sale, but then remembered... Archos... ugh.. and then noted that even the newer models rotate screen glacially(draws background/bars fast but icons/widgets take forever(literally) to redraw)...)
Anyways to the topic: Did you check your time? I know it's simple, but if it's off it'll make downloads(and other things) fail.
This happened to me OOB and it took me a minute or two to realize what happened(TZ got changed to GMT on me somehow...).

The version 3+ market releases have had stricter control on people changing DPI.
If you've already changed your DPI back to 160 and still can't purchase apps, I suggest wiping market data, uninstalling updates and going through the market setup again.
If that still doesn't work, take a nandroid of your device, wipe and try again. If it works afterwards, then something else you've changed is ****ing with your market setup.

The time didnt impact my device but it is a suggestion I haven't tried so thank you.
Overall guess I am going to have to wipe. I know its such a petty thing but maybe its a blessing in disguise to not buy apps haha

np. The ONLY reason that I know about that one is that I've had several tablets(Viewsonic gTablet, Pandigital Novel, Augen Gentouch 78, Nook Color, etc.) that didn't officially come with google apps(gapps henceforth) and that was one of the pitfalls that people normally ran into. There are also a couple of other workarounds that sometimes had to be done but were more along the lines of getting a functional market and shouldn't apply to devices that come with the complete gapps suite, or at least I haven't had any failures on phones or other "officially" supported(licensed?) devices.
Recovery mode doesnt seem to be an option for me right now. Weird. It wasn't working fine last week when i tried. Volume + UP and power button does absolutely nothing. Volume + Down and power button brings me to a message that says " A Custom OS can cause critical problems..." How do i get into recovery? I also tried using the "quick boot" program to boot directly into recovery mode and nothing happened. You will see the Galaxy Tab Plus screen, reboots, and then shows the galaxy tab plus screen again and then boots as normal.
Thanks everyone for all your advice. I found a firmware file so I just used mobile odin and let it do it for me. Dont Know why it ended up doing it that way but oh well. Its over with.

Anyone ever see the message "Process system not responding". Here's the story.
Well, I've been installing apps like a loose cannon, figuring I may be dooming myself to a hard reset, and it may have come to pass.
Last thing that happened while the phone was running good, was I ran the demo of the 3D game XXXXXXXXX. I received a call, and had to hop away, and after that the phone became unresponsive. Looking at what was loaded with Advanced Task Killer, I did not see the game to kill, so I turned off the phone.
Now, it is taking a very long time to 'boot'. The Phone is Locked screen would pop up, and I'd try to slide it off, and it would slide about half off. Screen black except for the clock of the lock screen. And after sliding off half way, the screen would go black, as if it was off, but then the lock screen would come back.
Kept thinking that ultimately it would finish. After a bit I got the task bar at top, and it was saying preparing internal memory'Preparing Internal Mass Storage"; then finally " Media scanner running". Finally a few icons from the dock. But everything else still black.
Then finally it would come up with a big message "Sorry!. Process system is not responding. buttons for Force close, and Wait. I don't know if that is an Android message, or an app message. I tried force close, and it went back into the same iteration of events.
So the next time i tried a boot, I did not respond to the message for a while, and it seemed to be making progress behind the message. It went off, I turned it back on, it had lock screen, moved it off a bit easier.
Then finally it came up more screen things in place. Then again with a message "Process system is nto responding". Let it set 'til it went off again. This time it came up a bit futher, and this time it came up with window to select launcher. I selected TWiz launcher. Process message again, and I killed it this time.
Whewh...Still not resolved.
I guess if there are any suggestions short of hard reset, i'm interested in hearing. maybe one of you have had this happen. If it ever finishes loading, first thing I'm going to do is remove that game.
One thing that is a pain and I think contributes, is that so many apps load by default it seems. And the more you install the more that happens, from what I have seen. I know I don't have as many apps installed as I've seen others reference, but I do have 2-3 different memory type utilities that I've wondered if they woudl interfere with each othre, but they supposedly don't all load at boot.
Post long enough. I'll add more if I find anything interesting.

Well, the above post exactly describes what I have on my Captivate as well. Long boot times, "process system not responding", black screens, media scanner running/completed repeatedly, severe lagging...
Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with this issue? I've uninstalled my most recent apps, but it has not made any difference. Many thanks for any guidance!
Sounds like both of you need to restore to stock...Look in the Dev section for the Stock Odin3 1 click post..it is a sticky so it should be up towards the top..Follow the instructions and you will be back to stock...
The problems I mention above occur mostly during a reboot. The phone does eventually come up, with only occasional lagging still left (which may be more typical). I am torn between dealing with the lagging until Froyo is released (hopefully later this month) or perform the "restore to stock" you mention.
If I decide to "restore to stock", does that mean I lose everything? apps, messages, config, customizations, etc.
And if I lose everything, can I restore some apps with Titanium Backup? TB was loaded 2-3 weeks ago and I do have a full backup.
When Froyo comes, will it require the same or will it upgrade the existing OS and leave apps alone?
Many thanks for your response jhernand1102
I did that too, I sett a replacement lock screen wrong (because it asked me too) and there I was with out s phone for a few hours. The one click odin didn't work for me though. So I used the updated stock rom jh2 i believe. Look for the stock rom threads in developers forum as well as the one click odin.
If the one click odin doesn't work feel free to pm me with questions on the other rom.
Make sure you read it but they is a lot there that may confuse you.

With titanium backup you should be fine. I haven't used it but that's the point of it. A reflash may be easier the finding the error and correcting the problem. And during any flash you may have some risk of losing something but I don't think, going to froyo will lose apps by design. Anyway you have titanium backup and samsung kies to help you keep everything.
Good luck!

I guess I forgot to post back what I had to do...having had no replies at all. I think I ended up in another thread.
Anyway...I did in fact have to reflash. Using the one-click which I believe is this thread is what I used.

Thanks to all for replying today! I will go ahead and re-flash to stock. I was hoping it would be longer (a few months) before I'd have to re-load, but I guess when you live on the edge (root and lots of installs), ya gotta be ready for things to go wrong.
I do love this phone though and Android after being on a BB for so many years! It is pretty much a 1.0, so we should expect bugs and work arounds until they work the kinks out. In a crazy sort of way, it is still fun to work through these gotchas. Thanks again!
Yeah. I really hated the idea of a reflash.
but, if you haven't yet, you need to look in the DEV thread, and look into Clockwork Mod and Rom Recovery. As well, you should get teh paid version of Titanium backup.
Between those two things, occasional reflash and reload is not too painful.
I've learned so much today! Got the paid version of Titanium Backup for an easy "restore all via batch" and also did the ROM Mgr / Clockwork Recovery (thanx ewingr). So, I now have the best of both worlds for getting out of a jam and looking forward to trying out any new ROM's that may come out; with ease thanks to these apps!

Rooted my Nook Tablet. Think I did everything correct...although I am thinking maybe not. Is it possible for it to work but have some sort of bug?
Here is what I mean: I'm new to the android market...but why am I not seeing apps like facebook and angry birds. My wife has an android phone and she has all of that. Also...and here is the biggie....when I turn on my Nook...I go to the ADW Launcher screen where my apps are, however, I don't think my "N" button is doing the right thing. If I press it once, my actual Nook menu pops up (like it would out of the box before I rooted it) and if I press it a second time, it brings me back to the B&N main screen that was there before I rooted it and I then can't go back to the Android screen.
Anyone have any thoughts? I am really frustrated at this point!
Thanks

well its not clear what you did,did you follow all the guidelines, like installing drivers etc .Im reasonably tech savvy but even i found it a little bit challenging, esp installing windows drivers. start again and follow the instructions carefully..one last thing double click the n button, that would bring up any launcher you have installed rather than clicking it twice. with a little patience and effort youll get it sorted out .you dont have a bug...rooting the nook tablet is a multistage process, including opening up hidden settings, usb debugging, windows drivers etc. and i think having firmware 1.40 good luck its a supurb tablet

I'm a noob too, but I've been reading this site for the past 24 hours trying to fix-up my Nook Tablet. As for Android Market, even though you rooted your NT the Market still recognizes your device as a NT and won't let you download apps that apparently won't work with the default Nook launcher. If you do some searching sometimes you can find a .APK file you can download using your browser and then install the package for an app you like. Just be careful about where you download from to avoid any malware.
As for your "n" button, it sounds like Homecatcher isn't setup right. Uninstall Homecatcher and reinstall it to see if you can get it to work. Check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356206
Good luck.
Hi -
I'm not sure what functionality you're seeking. This is what I did with my year old NC: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448186
It's fabulous. No brainer, goof-proof (if you follow the well written instructions down the line). One issue I have is trying to get the remaining space on the SD card I used to show and therefore allow content. But that's not the mod's fault. I have another post pending an answer to that on the Q&A forum here.
I can recommend this set of dual boot mods to you without reservation. For me, it was almost "too easy"...

Hi guys,
i think my girl found a massive tango bug and for those people without changeable battery its VERY anoying, so beware to reproduce this with your device if you dont have a changeable battery!
The problem is, the complete UI hang up...you cant do anything after you follow these steps:
- open internet explorer
- go to settings and set it to desktopversion
- browse to www.bild.de (a very popular "news" site/paper in germany)
- scroll a bit over the site
now there are 2 possibilities
first one
- all pictures start to show
- scroll around
- when it hangs, just wait a bit and it will hang completly up
Video: http://www.vidup.de/v/780ef/
second one
- some picture do not show up
- go to "news" section and open one news (you have to wait, it does not react instantly)
- just let the news load a bit and go back through "back" button of your device to www.bild.de
- let it load and scroll a bit around and the ie will hung up...
If you are fast enough you can "rescue" your device by fast clicking the windows button, the ie crashes and your device is still on the run and you can rerun the ie...all is fine (if you dont browse to this site again, whats not the worst idea but maybe some other sites are affected, too)
Video: http://www.vidup.de/v/JQmwx/
Interestingly not the whole system crashes because its still booked in the mobile network, wifi (you can call the number and it will ring on your side, but the hanging system shows or do nothing on incoming call, you can ping the device and so on) and the "display timeouts" work probably...
First i thought the lumia 800 of my girl is just defective but i can reproduce this on my omnia 7, both are on tango (7.10.8773.98) and both had never this problem under any mango release. I found no way instead of using "mobile" site to prevent this problem.
Anyone aware of this bug or can confirm this?
Greetings
Update:
Lumias with build in battery (lumia 800/900) can be resettet by pressing volume, power und camera buttons for ~10 secs, thanks surur for this hint
-> http://wmpoweruser.com/browsing-bild-de-will-lock-up-your-phone-dead/
samsung and htc devices just need 10 sek press on the power button
wpcentral reproduced the crash with the focus 2
-> http://www.wpcentral.com/windows-phone-tango-can-have-catastrophic-web-browser-crash
I can reproduce the first error. I suggest you report this to MS.
the only option left is to reboot the phone. after reboot IE is back to mobile version by default in settings.
it did not happen the second time I tried this (desktop version), so it seems that it's not always reproducible - but most times it crashes.
btw. this will not happen if you do not browse the entire page. e.g. if you only open the first visible part of the page and browse then it will not crash. only if you open including the footer of the frontpage the system will crash. I had to scroll down a couple pages (it will refresh) until I reached the footer. This may be random though.
your second issue (tapping on image for news) for me just crashes IE and it jumps back to tiles. No reboot necessary. When I reenter IE it forgot all the settings again even recent sites.
cool find. maybe this can be used for an exploit
ps: and how I miss the tabloid crap from Bild. Reading the titles and pics I am cracking up...
it does not hang when i browse around the site...just on the start page it hangs up.
hm deactivating locations doesnt help :/
what helps -> restore mango but this is not a real option for the lumia cause of internet sharing
hm dont know why i can reproduce this problem on 2 devices and nobody else can do the same

looks like you got my initial post, which I modified. I can now reproduce your problem. I would not want to go back to Mango just because of Bild.de. but maybe there are other sites that have this problem. Certainly MS should hear about this.

I just went ahead and reported your post to WPCentral to look into this. Also posted it on their Forum under OS. If there are enough people that can reproduce this and it's posted on a major news site it will get MS' attention for sure. I suggest you post it at the WPCentral forum as well.
tell the mvp at MS that it takes some time to reproduce it. I could not at first just like barclays. regular browsing habits may not even trigger this. I believe the entire site has to be shown and one has to zoom in and out and scroll around enough. Eventually it will crash.

ok too bad 7.10.8779 didnt fix this
10 sec power button holding dont work on lumia but remove sim, connect to power, wait a bit, insert sim and short after this it starts again.
These kinda things happen when we become impatient and refuse to wait for our carriers and OEMS to push out the updates.

I thought the lumia he wrote about got the update officially. I do not believe it will make a difference whether it is pushed through carrier or self, unless you miss language packs. However, then you should see a number of other issues as well.
0711, can you clarify whether you pushed the updates yourself or whether the updates were pushed by carrier? In my case I used the cab uploader to update.

Both devices got the update through zune officialy (without cabletrick)
ok for the omnia, there was some impatient, i flashed an official samsung rtm (7004) rom and zune updated it to tango.
On the lumia there was no impatient cause the update showed up instantly (unbranded lumia)
Whatever the case, it's not a real big concern because it would be reported with other sites rather than a German one.

to be seen. point is that it happens on one, it may happen on others too. still important to report this, rather than ignoring it.

did device reset (load factory settings), i think this should do that but anyway, tried on both, nothing changed. Still crashes
The bug isn't reproducible on my HTC Titan with 8779. Works all fine.
I couldn't reproduce it on my htc 7 pro running tango as well. That site is really heavy but it doesn't hang at all. It just takes a lot to load.
Sent from my HTC 7 Pro using Board Express
Nor my L800 nor my Omnia7 can reproduce the bug. The images on the homepage take a while to load (even after the progressbar shows finished), but I can scroll and move around and zoom and click whatever I want and it won't eff up.
NO bug here
My Lumia 800 did not crash, no matter how many times i tried to open and fully load the page or others between 2 times of bild.de opening.
Also fully load take 1/10 time than for tha focus in the wpcentral video.
ps: i pushed the 8773 update myself to the phone.
Its been my second month with my gnote pro 12.2 and im starting to have problems. First there will be some random press on my screen, ramdom apps will just pop up even tho im not touching its icon. Letter "N" on screen keyboard sometimes doesn't work, when im typing very fast it'll skip the letter "N". When im sliding it side to side it'll bring up the whole slide page even tho im just using one finger. The slide effect won't go through, i have to slide the whole page from left to right or vice versa. The worst thing that i experience is its like its acting that something is tapping on the screen very fast you will see the icon up and down really fast and you really cant do anything to stop it but to wait until it hangs up. cant shut it down, back and task button doesn't work. Home button works but can't shut it down, itll just reboot it self.. It's driving me nuts coz basically i left my laptop at home so i have to work from my note and right now im working on a site.
My device is on full stock, i haven't done any tweaks on it. And im using the wifi version SM-P900. I recorded a video of my gnote pro 12.2 using my g3 and pardon me for the quality since i have to convert it coz the file is so huge. It is a long boring 8 mins video showing my device is acting weird.
TURN OFF THE VOLUME (i can't find android video converter that removes the sound).
0:44 - you can see that it change the highlited email even tho im not pressing anything.
1:02 - its brings up the whole page screen. Im just using 1 finger to slide.
1:20 - menu button doesnt work. It hangs a bit and pops up a balloon.
1:35 - this is where it started doing crazy stuff.

Auto brightness on the camera of your phone made it hard to tell since the rest of the scene was too dark so answer these few questions: Do you have a case on it? Does that case turn on/off the screen when opened? If you do have a case have you tried reproducing the results with the tablet removed from it?

Seems like it was protesting to having todisplay the image of the Apple building...
In all seriousness though, could you turn on 'Show Touches' under Developers options? (Tap build number 7 times under About Device if you can't find Dev options.) It may have phantom touches.
And try the above suggested solution of detaching the case if you're using one.

Thank you very much for the respo se. No i don't have the case for my note im using slid on pouch for 12" notebook to keep it safe i stead. I never accide taly drop it either. Im also having random error message like "can't arrange alphabetically" sometimes "internal server error". I also got very few apps installed si ce im usi g this device as my laptop, i needed every storage space of this device, what im using most is hancom apps and autocad also chrome, default email apps a d sometimes skype.
Im not gonna edit this message so you can actually see how letter "n" misses.
Im using the default screen keyboard of the device. Tho the problem is not present if im using bluetooth keyboard. Im planni g to do a factory reset but the problem is i can't do that till i got home.
I just hope that this is more on software issue than hardware issue. Also, it happen often but randomly so i can't figure out what apps causing it.

Yup, sure ill turn it on and observe, thanks for the idea.
That rules out the case issue. These tablets are sensitive to magnetic fields and will act up in the presence of magnets, that's why i mentioned it earlier. I was careful in how I asked because some will be in denial about whether or not their case has any magnets hidden within the case.
If your tablet is indeed showing phantom touches the next logical step would be to factory reset and observe the tablet for a while afterwards. You'd have to reinstall all of your software though so make sure to back up all of your files first. If you do go this route I'd suggest refraining from logging into your google account when you set up the device from a reset OR if you do log in, don't opt into auto backup/restore of the device. This will keep the device from installing previously purchased software making it easier to monitor it BONE STOCK to rule out the chance of your issues being software related. If you can do this and the tablet has issues bone stock then it could be a hardware issue with the digitizer . .

The only problem right now is i can't do that till next week. Or ill start to upload my files with dropbox and ill just borrow a laptop. My main suspect actually is google chrome, this month i think i receive 4 updates with chrome and since then i started having this issues. I really hope that this is just software issue, sammy cust service here in ph is absolutely ridiculous.
Thank you for giving me ideas

If you suspect it's chrome, go to settings > application manager > all > chrome > erase data and cache, and then uninstall or disable it. (depending on the available options).
As for the keyboard, can you give swiftkey a try, see if that has the same issues?

Yes i think that's the culprit. Im in the middle of backing up my files now coz i decided to go for a factory reset. Ill observe how my device will behave on full stock without users apps installed.
As for the keyboard, yes ill install swiftkey.. somehow it makes me ask myself, why the hell am i still using the default keyboard?
Anyway, thank you for all the inputs, ill give it all a shot.
After going back on full stock, no apps being installed, and testing for 2 days, sad to say but the problem still exist. Il give it another try and will flash stock rom, this will be my last resort and if things still not fixed, maybe its time for this beast to have its repair and vacation.
Hello everyone!
Today I updated my HTC U12 + (128GB) to the Android Pie version (9.0):
First I received an update of approximately 350 MB, which was downloaded and installed without any problem, the cell phone restarted without any problems (I clarify that my cell phone is encrypted and when it restarts, ask for a password to continue with the restart). For now everything is going well.
After a while the main update was downloaded (950 MB approx) and I had it installed as soon as the download was finished.
Again the cell phone restarted, he asked me for the password to decrypt it, but after that, it went completely black, he did not advance anything else for several minutes. Amid the panic, fear and despair, I pressed the power button to restart the cell phone, asked for the password again, and apparently charged the rest of the installation.
When I went to use the Camera application, the option thath appears in the lower right corner to see the last photos taken (like a gallery) is not working well, the application crashes and is not letting me see the photos taken. (Here goes the first problem).
Another problem I have is with the Google Play Store app: It doesn't allow me to download apps from the store, as if it were locked or something like that. (Here goes the second problem).
Now, the main problem is: Like any good engineer, any problem can be solved with a reboot to see if everything loads well, but I already tried and it didn't work. And following the good traditions of the good engineer, it can be said that I do a hard reset (erasing all the settings and content of the cell phone, which I also consider an effective solution, I will not deny it), but currently I am outside the country where I have hired My phone number, and for work I need WhatsApp (and as you know, I need a text message with the code to login), and I have no way to activate Roamming.
Can anyone help this good citizen with any advice, trick, recommendation or magic spell that does not involve formatting the phone and solving these problems?
Thanks!
PD: A friend with the "same" model (64GB) had no issues with the instalation, and we compared the camera version number, and everythings is the same.
Delete camera and gallery data in settings and reboot. If that don't work do a factory reset... Sometimes after an update it is necessary to delete old caches that get stuck

I have already deleted the cache of the applications with problems, but it still does not work properly.
Thanks for your answer and support with this.
(Until I can return to my country, I cannot do the hard reset... sadly)
no issues here since yesterday evening
So far it's great, very smooth, phone (64GB blue on TMO US w/ 128GB SD) is faster & battery life seems to have improved a lot though it's only 1PM here so we will see...
Upgrade went the same way like yours except I waited patiently to come back from the "blackout" after the decryption was done, thanks for the heads-up (though I usually wait a while anyway.)
UI is a tad more responsive - I have a lot running on my phone, I use it heavily for business all day long.
I like the clock's new location in the upper left corner actually more than the previous one - however the new UI design is a too bubbly and too colorful, too 'pop' for my taste, the previous one was far more elegant, I think. I will give it some time, see if I get used to it - if not I will just look up some more subtle theme.
I only had to re-apply my notification sound setting, everything else was kept intact so it's all good.
All in all I'm satisfied so far, very smooth upgrade - it did worth the wait, thank you HTC!
