Two issues I'm having with my device:
Everytime I do a full reboot, it hangs at the end of the splash animation, and stays there for a good minute or two before it gets to the home screen. I can turn the screen off, but if i press it back on it will still show the splash.
Additionally, any reboot disables swype, and forces me to disable it, enable it, restart app, then select as entry device. Is this normal for the swype beta?
I'm just wondering if anyone else has had these issues and/or do they know how to fix it.
The splash hang up occured with and without root last night, and the swype i don't know because i didn't install it until after i flashed the debloat rom
I actually think I have the same trouble where swype no longer seems to work in that if I "swype" my finger around to form words nothing will appear. I have started uninstalling/reinstalling to fix this, but well seemingly is the same trouble. I would also be interested to know if anyone knows if there is a simple fix for this?
I don't know about the first issue, but there has been a problem with swype recently. The fix it know is, after reboot switch back to the stock keyboard and then back to swype and it should work.

Hey guys, i've got a problem. First off, KforTouchPro works fine on my HTC Touch Pro, i can configure buttons fine for Morphgear, PocketGBA, SmartGear etc, it works wonderful. And as everyone that uses this app already knows, you have to switch the setting to MS IME before you launch your game emulator, or else you can't configure the keys. Well, my problem is, after i'm done playing a game, sometimes I forget to switch the setting back to default, and whenever i do a reset or shutoff my phone, it hangs at the screen right before it shows your homescreen and touchflo3d tabs.
Basically, for those that use EnergyROM, it hangs at the screen that shows you the black & blue background with the word EnergyROM 3.0 in the bottom left (or something like that, can't remember). That means you can't do anything at all, since there are no buttons etc for you to press as the home screen is not fully loaded, so basically you got a semi-bricked phone as no matter how many times i try to turn on the phone, it just hangs there, which results in me having to do a hard reset in the end.
To prevent this, you MUST restore the KforTouchPro setting back to the default setting, but sometimes ppl forget and this will cause a semi-bricked phone, which is very risky and quite dangerous.
So, is anyone else having the same problem as me?? Is there a solution to this??
And lastly, what's the difference between KforTouchPro and KforRaphael??
[Q] HTC Desire "appears" as if it has the home button stuck, since a recent update
One of our HTC Desire is exhibiting very weird behaviour since a recent update (couple of days ago). It only affects one of the phone, the second one is working fine, both were updated within the same day.
** I will try to post the software version on the next post, I think it's triggering the "No outisde link for new user" error, even though there is no outside link!
This phone only started playing up about a day after the update, not immediately. It sometimes wake up on its own and bring up the "Recent Apps" screen, as if you have long-pressed the Home key. It then switches wildly between that screen and the zoom out (helicopter view?) view of all the home screens. Initially I thought it is hardware problem and the phone is 'screwed' but I think it's more software problem, since it can work normally sometimes.
The wild screen switching made it impossible to use the phone and because it is working constantly, it gets hot and drains the battery. The problem started to get worse when we plugged it into a PC to sync and it started to go crazy. Since the screen switching so wildly, I can't get into the menu to soft reset or turn off the phone properly. So had to hard reset it, and done that more than half a dozen times.
We did have an issue when we first downloaded that recent update, both phones didn't have enough space, so the install crashed out. We freed up more space and both phones appear to have installed the update fine. Well, until a day or so after, one of the phone started playing up.
At the end, I found that if I held down the optical cursor button (very hard work), it seems to hold off the wild screen switching. I can then sort of use the phone as per normal, so that I can join WiFi and change settings & install apps etc.
I noticed that the Rosie Utility is always showing on the "Recent apps" screen. I've never seen that on a normal "Recent Apps" screen before. Not knowing what it was, I googled and learnt that it's the SenseUI. I then compared the SenseUI info with AppKik and the crazy phone is showing a different size 1.9MB (laterly 2.0MB) whereas the working phone is showing 3.0MB, althought both said HTC Sense Version 1.0 com.htc.launcher.
So I figured something must have gone wrong with the SenseUI Launcher and hence it's doing crazy thing. So I downloaded couple of other launchers, LauncherPro and ADW Launcher. They initially seem to work then all of a sudden the crazy screen switching will start and they will get worse. It seems worst if I left it on the main home screen, if I was in an App, it sometimes stay calm for a while.
In frustration, I thought I will backup my SenseUI (rosie.apk) from the working phone using Appkik and then install it on the faulty phone, but the install failed. Probably because it's being used. Tried switch the default launcher to LauncherPro, still the same. May be it needed Root access to replace? So I rooted the phone with UnRevoke3 (after a long struggle getting the correct ADB working) but still can't install the rosie.apk.
Anyhow, after rooting the phone, it mysterously settled down. I could use the phone normally for quite a while, then it started again. Although not as crazy and only intermittently. Haven't used the phone later part of today, so not sure what it's doing at the moment. When I tried the phone this morning, I stumbled across an option to un-update the senseUI, so it's now supposedly switched back to the factory default (Eclair 2.1??) version? The info from Appkik is stil lthe same though.
My question to the experts are ...
1. Can I 'update' just the latest Rosie.APK since the phone update said I already got the latest and no more updates available. ? If so, where and how?
2. If not, can I download a working copy of Rosie.apk from somewhere, and how do I write that over the existing 'possibly' faulty version?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
HTC Desire "appears" as if it has the home button stuck, since a recent update
Attached is the TXT file containing my HTC Desire Software Version details.
For some unknown reason, it won't accept my post if I had the text from this file in the body of the post. It keeps bringing up the error about no 'outside' link for new user.
Update: If I "Cleare Default" on SenseUI in the App2SD settings, then it appears to stop the Screen Switching, but the Home button stops working altogether, the rest of the home screens appear to work normally though. Very weird. I think the problem is definitely to do with corrupted Rosie.apk (com.htc.launcher) .
Hi,
In case it helps anyone else, my home and menu button on an hd desire became intermittently broken in that they would stop working for days.
I followed this and did a clear data on the rosie utility and they work fine now.
Whoop whoop!
So I have GingerDX installed with no issues except this one. I tried wiping and fresh install but it is still an issue for me.
It mostly happens with the keyboard, everytime I bring it up, I get the background and empty screen. When I press back, keyboard goes away and everything goes back to normal. It happens with default keyboard and swype which is the keyboard I want to use.
I have seen it occur at other times occasionally though. Anybody got any ideas? This basically makes the phone unusable if I can't type.
Oh and if I rotate the screen, sometimes, it causes the keyboard to appear with squeezed input box and I can use the phone but other times, this does not work.

Found problem, theme doesn't work properly on X8. going back to A-Lite resolved isuse.
Hi all,
I recently tried changing the wallpaper on my phone from a live background to regular image. The background went black and the phone froze.
I removed the battery and restarted the phone but it now often freezes on the LG logo. When it does occasionally start up the touch screen will not respond so I cannot get past my lock pattern. If I press the stand by button at the top of the phone, the screen goes off and cannot be turned on again, but the phone is still running - as I can tell this when connected to the computer.
I don't have my phone rooted and do not know much about that. I was hoping there was a way to fix this without having to lose all of my data or root/mod my phone. Otherwise I would be happy just to have my phone working.
Can anyone please help with this problem or tell me why the touch screen will not respond the times it does start up?
Cheers
UPDATE - I started the phone holding the volume button down and went into the recovery mode. I'm not sure exactly which option I then selected, as I hit the home key a couple of times, but I think it was "Clear cache and recovery" or something similar.
The phone managed to start back up with all my apps and photos, etc. Although I had to go through the startup wizard again and sign into the Market, LG World, etc.
Now I have a problem with quite a few of my apps. Whenever I click on them, they start very briefly and then I get the message "The application had stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" and have to force close. This happens with apps such as Adobe Reader, GTA 3 and Viber, so it's not a specific type of app.
I also noticed with the few apps that work, data is missing from some and not others. For example, I still have high scores in one game, but not in another.
Does anyone know what the problem is here or why this recovery is maybe causing this?
Thanks very much
Still haven't fixed this problem if anyone could please help. Most of the apps before the recovery still force close upon starting.
Some of these can be fixed temporarily by moving to phone/SD depending on location, but this only lasts for so long, before I have to move again. Others will open up each time as though it's the first opening of the app, e.g. Do you accept....
Apps downloaded after the recovery seem to work fine.
Any suggestions people?
I've got a weird issue. I'm running the stock T-Mobile ROM with the only real modification being Swype as my keyboard. Sometimes it seems the phone will get very warm and stop responding. I can still open the home screen, go through apps, etc, but Internet/Data will fail to work. I can access the dialer, but it will refuse to dial. When I press a text box for the keyboard to come up to type, nothing registers within the box as I type. Using the home screen widget to turn on and off wireless and GPS, those buttons stop responding as well.
Has this happened to anyone? I'm close to performing a factory reset to hopefully rid this issue. Rebooting the phone seems to fix it, but it has happened about half a dozen times within the past 2 weeks now.

Best bet is to factory reset which, of course, will dump all your apps, settings, etc etc... An even better bet is to root and install a custom ROM; but that is your call.
Another option is to get a task manager / battery monitor and see if a specific app is causing your phone to act up. Look for things like most time on or most CPU usage or most battery consuming, depending on what app you use.
Agreed. Try a factory reset, or send it to HTC.
