As a external powersupply, it says that the capacity is 12000 MAh so enough for 12 charges, or do I make a mistake somewhere?
It seems that a miniUSB connection is suplied whit it so I shouldn't now why it wouldn't do the job and the size is (for me) acceptable with almost 3x3x0,5 inch, I mean for tracking at locations whitout electricity it could keep your GPS going.

USB Charging
Not sure about how many times it would charge your diamond...but it looks like it has a Female USB connector so any USB cable could be plugged into it to charge ANY device...if your device allows USB charging that is.
Best regards

12,000Mah!?!
Doubt it, must have been some serious squashing to get that much juice in there!
My laptop battery is twice the size of that and has 5100Mah capacity. Would be great to be able to charge it from that thing!
Ill just ordered
I just ordered the battery and as soon as it arrives I will write a review of it.
Willem
I don't think it'll work. There were some user reviews on similar charger saying it won't charge their ppc's through USB.

your laptop battery is also higher voltage, probably 12V.
think of the AA-size NiMh cells, the best ones are 1.2V 2800mAh.. two of those aren't close to the size of a laptop battery and yet they have higher mAh.
but you're right, 12000 mAh in that thing is utterly impossible
edit; anyone tried this?
http://www.instructables.com/id/Portable-USB-Charger-Version-2.0/
edit again; this seems more like a real product, but it's larger than the actual diamond is. not too convenient.
http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=4125&t_mode=des
late edit; if a computer usb connection is too weak to charge the diamond, shouldn't it be possible to solder a cable that connects the diamond to two usb ports simultaneously?

I have one of those crummy double A chargers from energiser i got from a friend and using the mini usb included with it, the phone does indeed charge but only when its off. When its on the power its using makes the battery pack redundant, but thats for my crappy charger. I think this should work, and if not it would work for another phone or device.

I made a small calculation my 2000MAh is in size 40X35X10mm =14000mm3
The size of the 12000MAh is 74,93X74,93X14,986mm=84138,9704314
84138,9704314/14000=6,0099264593857142857142857142857
6,0099264593857142857142857142857 X 2000MAH (which is the size of my battery)=12019,85291877142857142857142857
Acoording this caluculation it should be physical possible I just don't now how much cell it has and neather or by just doubling the size you can double the capacity aswell.

That's true for another Li-Io-charger which I bought from DealExtreme. From what I can see, they don't check their inventory very thoroughly for function and quality. Most of the stuff is just fine, but there is also some junk - and my Li-Io-charger was among it.
Since they advertise it only for the PSP, I can imagine that it will not offer the high current to charge a working Touch Diamond.
Have fun!

Do you now howmuch is the power use off a PSP?
I do agree with you that not everything is made off gold what they sell at DealExtreme, I also bought already some useless stuff from them but this item should be a verry big mistake from them cause there are rumors at there site about this item, I even doubt about it aswell and thats why I cancelled the order but after I made the calculation I am in doubt again.
I travell a lot and one off the country's which I visit a lot is Brasil and for such a country whit the infrastructure availleble (or just NOT availleble)
If you make a long bus journey or plaintrip (Brasil is at least 12 hours where in you have nothing to do) or even in the bush or just tracking such a item could be ideal.
Willem
After a email with my doubts Deal extreme send me the folowing message, in a previous message Itould them about the doubts and asked them to check or the ordered battery is realy 12000 mAh, they have checek it with the suplyer which confirmed the capacity of the battery, as soon it arives I will post a review of it, which maid take a few days cause I want to test how many times I can charge my phone with both a 2000mAh and the original 900mAh battery.
Dear Willem ,
Thank you for your reply.
Item 19086 was shipped on 12/31/2008 after checking. The supplier informed that it is 12000mAh, we will keep the ticket open, please feel free to send the news once you got it?
Thanks a lot.

Received the battery
Received today the battery but the Mini USB doesn't fit at my Diamond the output is 5V 700mA anyone now or this is enough to use and charge my Diamond at the same time cause if this is possible I will try to make a custom cable.
Someone can tell me aswell which contacts are used to charge a phone on mini USB, as you can see it seems the contacts are about the same there is just a diference at the outside off the connector, the main outside connector is a standard plug but I don't now or there are connectors at the market to make from the standard connection a mini USB
The connector fits at my dock and is able to charge my phone so in case of emergency I can charge the extra battery that way
Here some pictures
http://84.104.255.96/connector/index.html
Well I tested the battery and the outcome is disapointing, could charge my 2000mAh battery once complete so I gues all the critics about it where right, I have contacted Deal Extreem but untill now no answer.

Guys I went through about 4 different battery type chargers which ran of AA's and all sorts. All were useless and generated more heat than delivered juice to my Desire.
On the plus note I eventually found http://www.amazon.co.uk/Proporta-30423-USB-Turbocharger-3400/dp/B002DYGQI6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1276088348&sr=8-1
This is good enough to give me two full charges before having to charge the charger. Its a real neat piece of kit and works very well.

ordered, thanks.
I have a Just mobile Gum pro - it's 4400 mAh capacity and can charge pretty much anything that you can charge over usb. You recharge the pack over mini usb (mains or PC)
http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=166301
I use it with my iPod touch, MiFi and my desire and it works great, outputs at 1000mA so the desire sees it as mains charging.
I haven't needed it much with the desire yet as I have mains chargers at home and and in the office but with my G1 I got 3 full charges of the phone before having to recharge the Gum pro. It's pretty compact too so not a problem to keep in my gadget bag.
Hope this helps
I got this one for a while now
http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=4662&t_mode=des
and works great. Charges several devices and it has 3400mAh capacity, which is ~2.5 times full recharging Desire.

How much longer would your battery last with something like this? 350mAh doesn't sound like much... Of course it's pretty small, which is something.

true, but the larger capacity charger is much larger in size ie the size of the phone anyway, doesnt look pocketable to me.
i also cant envisage a time when i would need the larger capacity, ie i have a car charger, the stock charger and the emergency charger.

After 3 or 4 recharging cycles I found out it charges my Desire fully only one and a half times, so I'm little bit disappointed. Is this normal? I thought it should recharge it at least 2 and a half times * 1400 mAh = 3500 mAh. The battery is 4000 mAh, so that shouldn't be a problem. Any suggestions besides returning it? I'll be travelling abroad soon and I'm not sure that if I purchase another battery it will come on time for my trip.

Have been looking for a while to find an (affordable) micro USB cable which is a lot longer than the stock cable. When charging the phone right now I must contort myself in strange positions because of the rather short length of the supplied cable.
So I'm looking for a longer (>1.5m) cable but that one must also still charge with the same rate as the stock cable: 1900mA...
After reading some reviews on Amazon for example it seems that those cables are rather hard to find. They all lower the amount of charging current.
So the question is: does anybody know of such a cable (and has tried it himself with Galaxy Charging Current for example so it charges with 1900mA for sure  ).
Thanks in advance :good:

Mah is not a charging rate. Its known as a discharge rate or capacity of the battery/cells. You might have better luck searching for it as 1900 ma (milliamps) or 1.9A (amps). I use lithium batteries in all my rc trucks and the radios and had to do a bit of studying about them, improper charging or discharging can lead to degradation of the cells or catastrophic failure (explosion).
Hit thanks if I helped you out. Doing a little bit of reading goes a long way. Sent via tapatalk.

Those (cheap) cables rarely (or even better: never) offer the same loading charge. Especially at that length.
These work: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AR4M04S/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Using one on both my HP Touchpad that has a Charging Current app and it says 2A and my S4 is also using one. It also claims 1900mA. They are good cables for me.

Already some from Amazon.de on the way and ordering from US-based sites is often quite difficult for us Europeans. However, I would of course like to know your result, so please :good:
Funny, I usually strive to find smaller (10-30cm) cables.
What I need someone to explain to me is how do you know the cable isn't charging at max intensity. Does it not charge at all, or you measure the current, or what?

Shorter cables are handy for their own purposes as well, like in a car or something. However, when I'm watching tv and the phone is being charged the supplied cable, for me, is much too short. Very awkward to play with the phone when the cable is short, hence I wanted a longer cable.
Longer cables alas usually lower the charging current so while it surely does charge the phone it takes much, much longer to do so

Yea that isn't worth it, unless you order 10 and maybe sell them on ebay locally yourself to recoup the shipping cost.

yeah, that's a little pricey for what it is...
If I get a little more disposable cash, I'd consider putting a minimum quantity order in and sell a few to those on here at cost plus shipping. It's worthwhile to resell if you can beat other sellers to the punch and make a penny. Once these become commodity and the prices drop, it's not worth it unless you're a big time seller. The profit per piece usually cuts it close for the time you invest fulfilling orders and dealing with problem ones. I got hosed on Note 2 cases a couple years ago where the cases were crap. One drop and the Note would pop out. Couldn't get the seller to take them back, and I didn't feel comfortable selling them knowing I'd get complaints (if it happened to me on multiple occasions.) Still have them. Might just unload them cheap when I get around to it.
With the QC options out there, I wouldn't buy a battery or charger that didn't have one QC port on it at this point. Funny, all the people wanting their wireless charging. I'll take QC any day.
Going back to the cheaper option approach - you can get the Anker charger plus two extra batteries for $25.00 and this Anker 10,000mAh external battery for $23.00:
http://www.amazon.com/Compact-10000mAh-Portable-External-Technology/dp/B009USAJCC/ref=sr_1_4?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1422131778&sr=1-4&keywords=anker+power+bank
Swap out batteries and use the external battery pack plus the charger to charger the spares. Charging won't be as fast as Quick Charge but hey, it's on the spares. For $48.00 you have a whole heck of a lot of spare juice available. And there are higher capacity but pricier external batteries available.
I have the OEM charger and spare battery. I keep it in the center console charged. If I need to I swap and let the dead one charge. If I have a heavy day and can't charge I grab the charged spare. I use a pack to charge other things when needed and once in a while the phone. So if I were to replace it, it would be with one with a QC option. Not everyone is buying a battery pack specifically for the phone, but if your going to buy one, why not have the QC option? It's also less time you're tethered to a charger when needed.

I was able to obtain a small quantity of MP5200Q Quick Charge 2.0 battery bank directly from the manufacturer. I am keeping a couple and selling the rest for cost plus fees.

Please everyone do say what Power bank you have
& how much time does it take to fully charge a Drained battery
So we know which charges how many times, Once or twice or more ....
Thank you all
Google product engineer +BensonLeung has tested several cables, and the vast majority of them fail to meet the Type C specification, some even dangerously drawing too much power.
Interesting to note that the hugely popular Orzly cables fail his tests.
can't even trust the word "certified by **** company" on the products anymore. that's why you just can't ignore product reviewers.
Haha, I was just coming to post this myself. Its good we have people looking out for this sort of thing. Stuff like this always pops up in the early phases of new tech or standard roll outs. Remember all the faulty knock off lightning cables for apple stuff when that first launched?
Potentially bad news for those of us with the One+ cables though;
+Rajesh Handa , +Guille Laca, +Jared Valles, +Steven Lefkoff, unfortunately I have bad news about the One+ cables. The One+ cables, despite ostensibly being from a 1st party phone maker, are out of spec. They use an incorrect 3A configuration as well.
I haven't reviewed them on Amazon because they aren't for sale there directly from One+

Yes, this is incredibly annoying. I have recently bought two of them, specifically because I didn't want to buy from some random Amazon seller.
I've just emailed One+'s customer service to get their comment on it, and request a full refund.

Let me know how that goes, I may do the same.
It sucks he has not recommended any chargers or USB-C to USB-C cables. The only cables he has reviewed are USB A to USB-C and it is my understanding that these will not quick charge the device anyhow.
I have started a Google Sheet to track USB Type C cables and accessories. I have also enhanced to include N5X and N6P products. Check it out!

I'm using the Google one that came with my phone right now plugged in to my USB 3.0 port on my PC, and it says "Charging Rapidly".

Not to change gears but I topped my 6p off yesterday before first boot up and let it and my htc m8 both drain completely, them plugged 6p to packaged charger and my m8 to a nexus 6 fast charger and a 6-ft micro usb I bought fro at&t and the m8 charged... Much... Faster. Are Google's fast charging claims unfounded or is the N6 charger from Motorola just that fast?
Might repost this in q&a aub, but was wondering how your experience hs been thusfar.

Remember that the M8 has a 2,600 mAh battery and the 6P has a 3,450 mAh battery. The 6P battery is almost 35% larger than the M8, and will require more time to charge. How much charge did the 6P have when the M8 finished charging?

Ditto. I bought 3 and I might keep them for slow charging, like overnight. The price wasn't bad.
That's is a very fair point and good question. If I'm not mistaken between 65-75%. Nothing crazy, but one thing I will say, I play a game that drains the battery very badly, even after I close and even force close the app (love it so much I am willing to live with it) but I drained it all the way back down this morning playing the game and instead of turning it back on and starting the charge from 1% and leaving it on so I can track its progress (after a restart, the game normally doesn't cause any battery drain until I open it again), I left it off to charge, and I came back less than 40 minutes later and the thing was full.. I couldn't believe it so I turned it on and unplugged it and sure enough, 98%. It could be that the game was causing such drain (which is scary because the it never eats battery after a reboot) that it slowed the charging process, but I guess I'll never know for sure.

I emailed them as well to cancel my order and refund me in full. Waiting on a response.
should we still have to worry about even if we use a basic charger (5v - 2a) to charge our 6P with those generic cables? seems like the google engineer only tested and raised concerned with rapid charging. this might get too far once wireless charging stickers/cases are introduced.

Based on the text in his reviews, it sounds like the risk of damage is to your charger, not your phone. The phone can (obviously) handle a 3A charging speed but a USB A charger most likely cannot.

I was thinking the same thing. I bought 2 sets, just keep them around for data transfer and such as most of my stuff will be attached to google official chargers Type C to Type C. May as well, they are beautiful.

That's all I want to know: can I use these "sketchy" cables with an old Motorola charger that's 5V/1A. I have a bunch of these chargers in various places, and I would just like to have the option to top off. Not to mention my car charger.

Eh I personally wont run the risk of ruining my $500 smartphone by skimping out on $10 for a nicer cable.
Any adapter advice?

Hey everyone! As you all know im always doing reviews on loads of products and have reviewed these cables with the OnePlus 2! Obviously they work perfectly for that as they were built for the OnePlus 2 originally. I did contact them though and they did let me know that as soon as it was brought to there attention they corrected the issue and i actually received the new version of the cable today and i will review it and have the video up tomorrow! For everyone using a OnePlus 2 its nothing to worry about though. The only items that it could affect are things that power at 3A so just keep that in mind before you go throwing out your cables!
