Hey everyone. I need to start out by apologizing for the slow start on my XDA TV show. It turns out that doing interviews over hotel internet doesn't work no matter where you are in the world. My business trip has ended, which means my show, XDA Insider, is ready to get going.
My show is all about you! The community. Each week I will be sitting down with a developer, admin, moderator, or anyone else who helps contribute to the community.
Obviously, I can't kick start the show without a guest, so this is my callout: Would you like to be on XDA Insider? Post here or send me a private message containing 2 pieces of information - 1. what you do on this site 2. what times during the day you are available for interview.
Please remember that this show will be interactive, so we will need to set a recording date so I can give the community ample time to ask any questions they would like.
Show recording times
I prefer to record the show on Sunday in the morning Japan Time (+9), but anytime Sunday should be fine. Keep in mind that this is Saturday evening for those of you in the Americas
Suggested Recording Times Based on Location
Americas: Saturday evening or Sunday morning (This is Sunday morning or evening for me)
Europe and Africa: Sunday morning (This is Sunday afternoon for me)
Asia and Australia: Our times are similar. Mid-day would be best to adjust for the couple hours difference.

This is a good idea! Or maybe another newswriter, as EGZ won't be online much over the next week apparently.
Im not sure how many Dev's take notice of the madness that is the off topic section...... dont worry Im sure this will make the portal in no time...

So far it's only been mods and news writers. It's open to the whole community, but I used devs in the title because it's hard to get their attention.

I'm not unlocking until a few days after the lemmings try it though. I really hate this stock rom, but I don't want a brick before my next trip. I need GPS for navigating Appalachia.

Not to gloat...but I called it. On Thursday last week someone posted a poll on PPCG of if you think it'll be out before or after some arbitrary time the OP chose for that night. I posted that it won't be out for another week...and certainly not by the end of this weekend.
If there is one thing you can count on the Elite Team doing in regards to this release....they will consistently blow their own self-impossed release dates. I think we'll be lucky to see it before Wednesday.

Not to mention greed, maybe one of you gentleman or lady for that fact can explain to me, why do they feel they should charge for HTC\Microsoft product they tweak?, I think in fairness they need to send the money to HTC after all it is their product; They truly don't need anyone making money off their hard work either!!

Because they spend hundreds of their own hours and their own dollars so that we can fully enjoy the hardware. It's actually philanthropic -- quite the opposite to greed.
Regardless of what we do with the devices HTC/Microsoft/your Telco have made all of the money that they expected to make.
In fact this software makes certain people more likely to buy the hardware because of what they can do with it, so it actually helps them by selling more hardware.
Running this software on it so that we can get additional functionality has no negative affect to their bottom lines, so why should they get any additional money when they have done no additional work?

During the past 4 months, I have discovered Stack Exchange for much of my "technical exploring" and have become very fond of the format there. Now, I am not trying to sell that site over this one... but...
I do suggest that we integrate that site into this one. Currently, there is a general Android section with some Galaxy S 4G question-and-answers. It is amazing how quickly one can get answers in the Stack Exchange system. And the answers are impressive; the riff-raff get filtered out almost immediately...
What I am recommending is not new... My computer runs Ubuntu. And, although Ubuntu has a very active forum, it also sponsors AskUbuntu which is a member of the Stack Exchange.
And, if you analyze what is happening there, you will see that the newest of the noobs are the ones who spend the most time in fora... the fora has a high rate of attrition of senior members... as they concentrate their time in the exchange... while they (as they have time/patience/desire) also visit the fora for the purpose of assisting the noobs.
The result is that both groups -- the seniors and the noobs -- benefit.
Is there a way for us to proceed on this suggestion?

Don't really have a scheduled meeting time, maybe we should set that up.
TeamNerd has a domainname, google apps (gmail, calander, docs, etc for the domain), sourceforge (would like to move to googlecode, but not sure yet), but we still need dns hosting. I'm broke until I get my next paycheck to get dns service... maybe someone can temporarily host our dns so we can at least get the google apps site up, so we can start adding things to calanders and adding some docs.
How much would dns cost.

What happened to the ICX game launcher. I looked on their website and couldn't find it and the threads closed, did they scrap it?

I remember DeanBoro said that his Xperia PLAY's screen was broken, but that was like half a week after the topic was closed by request.
I do hope it eventually comes together soon though (and by soon, I definitely don't mean Gameloft's interpretation of the word) because I'd done nearly everything but completely delete the official launcher in anticipation of this customizable one.
I messaged DeanBoro about it after I saw the thread closed and this was his response.
"This is still under development but it is slow development at this moment because I am no longer working on it as my Play has been broken. HOWEVER another member of the team is working on it but ICX have alot of things to do at this moment in time i will inform you if there is any progress."
So I will be patient and if it comes out it comes out.

As he quoted above. My play has been shattered and as I don't really have an income of any sort at this moment in time apart from college allowance I do not have funds at this moment (£50) which is needed to repair the phone screen. Therefore I have handed the project over to a good friend of mine who has continued development of it although the development is slow as he has many things on his plate at this moment in time.
I would say give it another 1-2 weeks and there should be a updated thread of his with information about the Launcher. ALSO I know hes a very talented developer therefore I think he will most likely port it to all android phones.

It's been almost 3 weeks, no news?
I no longer own the Xperia Play so therefore I do not have any content left to associate with the community.
However like I said I give the source to a friend of mine and if he decides he wants to continue development then he has all rights to =]

fma965 I will only release the source code to certain people who I know can make this go somewhere, such as Nick. If he wants the source he can have it.
Hi Nick, DeanBoro, just wondering how this was going or if it still is...? Not asking for ETA, just curious if it is still being developed on........ so we as a community know its not abandoned, and if it let us know. Yep same new it wasn't coming because they made up released dates about 5 times and it was apparently so close to being finished but was never released so it was probably bull **** lol.
These are the type of unhelpful comments that put developers off

Projects are started some go to completion and some dont
Promises are made some are kept and some aren't
I am sure that always with the best of intentions
Everything is provided for you free of charge be grateful if you get it, be understanding if you don't.
I f you really want it go and learn and do it yourself, the same way the developers did. and then you can share it with us.

Agreed.. could not have said it better. With attitudes like that its a wonder devs make anything at all. When I enquired to DeanBoro some time ago about this he replied to my email and said that I was the only one he replied to because it was a sincere enquiery, his mesage box was full of ungrateful jerks chewing him out for not having released this ICX Game Launcher. Actually, you make a good point. However, I didn't say anything bad about the devs. I only said the app was vaporware - meaning that, while the devs may have had good intentions, the app was never released. After several promised release dates came and went, it became pretty obvious this was a tougher nut to crack than first imagined. Then the main dev ran into hardware issues. Then there were NO ETAs and no news coming out for weeks. Thus it became obvious the project had been shelved. So... Vaporware.
No disrespect intended to the devs. Heck, I'd rather have them working on ROMs any day.

I have to agree with him. I have nothing against the team but, its been 3 months since we got the last update. And and that feeling of being excited is just fading. I sure hope we get a new update. Not ASAP, but surely soon. n_n

Ok so we all know that Fbis251 lost his phone, we also know that i sent him my phone, but what you didnt know is that FBis251 had to grab $130 from his money tree in the backyard so that i could give him my sgs4g, since it was my only phone i needed something to buy a phone as well.
Now the transaction is already completed, and in all reality unfortunately FBis251 doesnt have a money tree in his backyard so that $130 was money he really didnt have.
Team Acid doesnt expect ANYTHING from the community but if you would like to help fill that hole in FBis251's pocket it would be eternally appreciated.
FBis251 is a great guy, in college, IN LA, and he has done SOO much for the sgs4g so im just trying to help him out

You are using the classic theme and the donate button is not part of that theme.
