[Q] Help with Cect T5388i dual SIM (HTC Touch Diamond 2 clone) - General Questions and Answers

I have a Cect T5388i dual sim, clone of the HTC Touch Diamond 2.
After installing a keypad with T9, the phone re-started, but got frozen on the start-up welcome screen: Touch Diamond 2. Windows does not start anymore, and I can't connect it to my PC either. I tried to hard reset, and got this message: "Step 3 error while updating: File operate: File does not exist" (without SD card inserted, the message is slightly different because it doesn't find the card).
I guess the only way to resume the phone is to flash the right ROM through the SD card, but I can't find one for this exact phone. I've found it for the T5388+, but the processor, the ROM and RAM, and the display resolution are different from the T5388i.
These are the info I know about this phone:
Model: Touch Diamond 2 T5388i
Dual SIM, WIFI, GPS, 2 cameras
Processor: Marvell PXA310 - 806Mhz (shown, not sure if real)
Display Resolution: WQVGA 400x240
ROM/RAM Size: 512MB/256 (shown 288) MB (also not sure if real)
G-Sensor: Yes
Zoom Bar Functional: ? (didn't look like working)
FM Radio: Yes
The OS was Windows Mobile 6.5 (shown), build CE 5.2?... (don't remember the rest)
Please help with suggestions and hopefully with a working ROM for this phone, English or Italian.

I got the same problem What should I do? please help!

I've got the same problem...
Anyone help please...

I fixed it with the hard reset of the phone. First you have to get the ROM acording to your phone model (in my case was T5389i) may be searching in forums or contact with your dealer, then you have to copy the rom in the SD memory and put it on your phone. After that hold the 2 volume butons (up & down) at the same time and then press the ON button for about 3 seconds. Your screen should display a message asking you if you want to update your phone, you hit the answer button to accept; then follow the instalation and restore your phone.
Be sure to use the same ROM of your phone model, in other case you may not be able to fix it and in some cases brick your phone.

Help, How do i re-install TYTN II from SD card ?

Hi, i am trying to rescue my nephews TYTN II (no idea what he did and he's not confessing).
When the device is switched on, it only comes up with smart mobility in white text in the middle of the screen, then short delay before three lines of text in red at the bottom as follows:-
R 1.27.12.11
G 22.45.88.07H
D 1.56.00.00
The only control i can get is if i hold down the camera button when switching power on, i get the screen with four bands of colour on. Red Green Blue and white (is this the bootloader screen?)
I have read somewhere that if i put a certain file on the memory card (i can do this with a memory card reader i purchased) the original software can be re-installed.
Does anyone know where this file is ? and of possible can one of you kind people post a link to the file?
The device is on Orange, i'm not sure if that is relevant is it ???
Ii would be really grateful for any help on this.

PS: THe device doesn't appear in explorer when i connect it via USB cable, so can't use a standard program to do the re-install.

It can't hurt to try to put a ROM (original or otherwise) on the SD card. Choose the *.nbh file after you extract the ROM and change the name to KAISIMG.nbh.
Then push the camera button and hold it while you soft reset with the stylus. This might allow for the new ROM to be flashed. Make sure the battery is charged or that you have it connected to a charger while doing it.
Worth trying
BEFORE YOU DO THIS - READ THE WIKI ON FLASHING FROM AN SD CARD SO YOU HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION
It's very simple...
...you search on this topic and read the threads that already exist and cover this topic.
just put the .nbh file on the microsd root. and enter bootloader it starts automatically and asks you wich rom do you want to install!
By the sounds of it its not likely to be hardSPL so I'm gonna assume its not... That means its not possible for a SD card re-flash... So the best thing to do is call the Network provider and get it replaced if possible...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371154 Or if you fancy it you could always follow that link and try MTTY...
Success
Thankyou to all who posted helpful replies to my query, specifically jcrompton whose advice was absolutely correct, and the device is alive again.
Thanks and much appreciated.

Did you fix it?
Do you have the firmware update?

Did you find a firmware update for your Hantel HTY Q5? I need it for Windows 6.1.
As we dedicate here only to HTC devices you won´t get too much attention.
Better to try here:

Good luck,
You can try some of the Chinese forums, but be careful and read up on your model and make sure that you use the correct ROM, they make changes to hardware in the different generations of a phone model. Updating the ROM is straight forward, you put the ROM .img file in the ROOT of your TFlash Card, then when the phone is off push the center select button and then push the power button and the ROM will update from the TFlash. Good luck.
I own the hTY Q5 and I'm trying to snag a ROM from the Chinese sites but can't seem to register at any of them and none are in English.
We should petition the Admin of XDA to give us hTY owner our own section on this forum.
I need an English Rom for my HTY Q5 Windows 6.1
migoddard, first thing that you need to do is type in **168## on your phone dialer keypad. this will launch the HCIT Test program select Phone Info. Copy down the sting of numbers and letters you see there. Keep it for future reference. Next we need to determine which LCD screen your phone has, older models have the ILI LCD and newer models have the LG LCD. You cannot use a ROM for the LG LCD if your phone has the ILI LCD and a ROM for the ILI LCD cannot be used for the LG LCD. The drivers in the ROM .img file will not be correct for the LCD. Once you find out which LCD screen your phone has, you can check out some of the Chinese forums that have either Cooked ROMs and OEM ROMs. I have a WM6.1 ROM .img file for the LG LCD.
Appearently from what I have read over on the Chinese forums, upgrading your ROM is easy. Simply up the uploader.img file on an empty standard SD Tflash card turn off the phone put in the Tflash card, then hold down the select button (middle navagation button) and while holding push the power button. The phone will boot in bootloader then display "Updating ROM Image". Allow that to finish, phone will reboot with updated ROM. Make sure battery level is above 50%. before attempting ROM flash.

Should a valid simcard be inserted in the device ?
no, you dont have to insert a valid simcard...just tried it out
It did not work on my phone, but I think that this device is definitely dead...
I doesn't matter too much as I bought it to for pieces...
vox hangs at wm6 screen. soft reset fails. extract contacts before hard reset?
yes, i would love to get my htc vox back by hard resetting (flashing the rom), but my contacts are not backed up (yes groan, but ...* see bottom if you care/have time...) So, i want to transfer the contacts data out of my vox, without wm6. go on, mission impossible was a great flick, we all want to be tom cruise (except I'm not sure about the scientology stuff..)!
1. is it possible to go to the (green blue red screen) SPL stage (i.e. hold camera button press power on) and then via the laptop send commands to the vox to copy data from the built-in memory to the storage card?
my parallel is that a PC has a simple operating system 'ms-dos' which can be used to obtain data and get the computer back online if windows fails. This requires programming in the lowest level (os) language of vox, I understand it uses an ARM chip (http://focus.ti.com/general/docs/wt...lateId=6123&navigationId=12000&contentId=4679). ARM/HTC websites refer to having 'windows embedded CE 6.0' but since my vox's bootloader does not finish loading wm6, I guess wm6 never gets fully installed into RAM so is not usable in this case. so...
2. has anyone tried this before? Anyone know a link to the command list for the vox's operating system? Any tips/corrections to the above?
Other relevant points, required for this solution to work:
3. what is the name (and do i also need the memory location?) of the data file containing the outlook contacts data?
4. does the HTC RUU ROM update actually install all the standard issue software, as well as WM6, including the ability to save Outlook contacts? link to software pack?
Thanks in advance..
(* - I dont have outlook on my laptop and was not aware until after the event that a work-around exists, yes my vox froze once before and when i checked that work-around was not developed.. (last time a soft reset removing the SIM and storage card did the trick. no such luck this time.))

[Q] Can you tell me What HD2 I have?

Hello everyone, I hope I am not out of line. I just "aquired" an HD2 with wp7 already installed. It needs to be activated...but wait there's more.. I don't know what I have in terms of everything. not to mention volume down button is totally non functional physically and electronically. No external sound but vibrates. please see the information below and then please inform me as much as you can:
Phone has Red and Green Buttons/Not "all" white.
When booting...I can read the following at the top of the screen:
aMAGLDR 1.13
build feb 1 2011 03:46:07
by Cotulla 2011
booting wp7...
Then I go to Settings "ABOUT"
HTC HD7 T9292
Then "phone information"
Name: HTC HD7 T9292
Model: HTC HD7 T9292
Software: Windows Phone 7
Total Storage: 176.53 MB
Available Storage: 98.76 MB
"MORE INFO"
OS version: 7.0.7004.0
Firmware Revision Number: 2250.09.07401.605
Hardware Revision Number: 0002
Radio Software Version: 5.51.09.29_22.32.50.10U
Radio Hardware Version: A.12.0.D4
Bootloader Version: 0.96.2250.0
Chip SOC version: 2.2.5.0
Sorry so anal...What radio?? do I have? What should I use?
What Version Phone do I have? is it an american 1024? or euro 512?
Does it even matter? and why?
What MAGLDR should I use? Can I use 1.13 when someone calls for 1.12?
Due to my Vol Down button being broken/and no external spkr...Is my phone just a perfect example of "the walking dead"? Can I ever load it with anything else?
It has not been activated yet!
Am I able activate it with the obvious Hardware or Software problems already mentioned?
Sorry this is such a book, Yes I am a noobe and I simply love this Site.
My ultimate goal is to turn this phone into a wp7/android Dual Boot.
But if I can't...I already know I could love it as a wp7 after activation.
This is a list of present problems - No External Spkr (So I am using Vibrate)
Bluetooth searches but never finds anything. Wifi is sporadic, but It does work!
I strongly believe that the down button got broken when they realized it wasn't
working.
Are the problems I just mentioned due to a faulty Install?
I read the "WP7 Settings and Activation" threads and quite honestly i got scared,
which prompted me to write everyone here. Because if "You" don't know these
answers...Nobody does!
By the way I think Ya'll are smartphone "Gods".
Thank you in advance for any and all assistance with my dilema.
For the record...I bought this phone in this condition, and don't know any of it's history.
Can it be fixed without replacing hardware, AND can I make it a Dual Boot?
Thank You, PV
ps. I have an 8gb sandisk sdcard but it doesn't see it.
I am using it as a phone and it seems to do that perfect, but won't accept any
files, pics, music, etc. (it says Not enough space).
does it have T-Mobile written underneath the earpiece? if yes, then you got the TMo version with the 1GB ROM - which is better for flashing and provides more space...
I dont know about the volume button and flashing without it, but MAGLDR 1.13 would be backwards compatible with 1.12
afaik only Tmobile version has red and green buttons. correct me if I am wrong.
Thank you, xDhaha, I appreciate your help,
Next question: which "radio" do I need to use? or radio version do I have? is it 2.25? (this was obviously a shot in the dark noobie question)
I am trying to get as much info so that I can start working on this.
I have to activate it, also would like to try to set up a dual boot system if possible,
but I am still worried about the volume down button stopping me and could I brick my phone if I attempt anything without a volume down button.

[Q] HTC Polaris [Touch Screen not working]

Hello.
The touch fuction of screen of my HTC stopped working from nothing but the display works and be operable by keys. A simple change of screen will solve or the problem may come from the board?

install the calibration screen to fix it
Working Thanks a lot u safed my phone )))
Hi.
It happened almost the same to my Polaris; for no apparent reason the touchscreen functionality stopped. After several attempts (removing battery and SIM card - waiting for any eventual static to dissipate; soft resets, trying to find any spot on the screen to reactivate it) I decided (i see now it was a bad move) to do a hard reset.
Now, every time i reboot, i get stuck on the "Screen Calibration" - meaning there is no way from me to apply the .cab suggested by Hakim Rahman.
Please, if you have any clue on how to solve this i really appreciate the help.
If any solution goes by using a new ROM or even installing Android it doesn't matter. However I don't know if it's possible to connect and sync the device with Windows or Linux and install the needed files, since I could only get up to the calibration screen.
Under Linux, after connecting the device I get:
